The boundary integral equations for the crack opening displacement in acoustic and elastic scattering problems are discussed in the case of flat cracks by means of the Fourier analysis technique. The pseudo-differential nature of the hypersingular integral operators is shown and their symbols explicited. It is then proved that the variational problems assocaited with these BIE are well-posed in a Sobolev functional framework which is closely linked with the elastic energy. A decomposition of the vector integral equation in the elastic case into scalar integral equations is obtained as a by-product of the variational formulation.  相似文献

Here we present a new solution procedure for Helm-holtz and Laplacian Dirichlet screen and crack problems in IR2 via boundary integral equations of the first kind having as an unknown the jump of the normal derivative across the screen or a crack curve T. Under the assumption of local finite energy we show the equivalence of the integral equations and the original boundary value problem. Via the method of local Mellin transform in [5]-[lo] and the calculus of pseudodifferential operators we derive existence, uniqueness and regularity results for the solution of our boundary integral equations together with its explicit behaviour near the screen or crack tips. With our integral equations we set up a Galerkin scheme on T and obtain high quasi-optimal convergence rates by using special singular elements besides regular splines as test and trial functions.  相似文献

In this paper we prove dominated and monotone convergence theorems for HL integrable Banach-valued functions. These results and a fixed point theorem in ordered spaces are then applied to prove existence and comparison results for integral equations of Fredholm type in ordered Banach spaces involving Kurzweil integrals or improper integrals. Results are used also to solve concrete second-order functional boundary value problems involving discontinuities and singularities.  相似文献

Summary We present a multigrid method to solve linear systems arising from Galerkin schemes for a hypersingular boundary integral equation governing three dimensional Neumann problems for the Laplacian. Our algorithm uses damped Jacobi iteration, Gauss-Seidel iteration or SOR as preand post-smoothers. If the integral equation holds on a closed, Lipschitz surface we prove convergence ofV- andW-cycles with any number of smoothing steps. If the integral equation holds on an open, Lipschitz surface (covering crack problems) we show convergence of theW-cycle. Numerical experiments are given which underline the theoretical results.  相似文献

We consider the effect of approximation on performance of quasi-Newton methods for infinite dimensional problems. In particular we study methods in which the approximation is refined at each iterate. We show how the local convergence behavior of the quasi-Newton method in the infinite dimensional setting is affected by the refinement strategy. Applications to boundary value problems and integral equations are considered. The research of this author was supported by NSF grant DMS-8601139 and AFOSR grant AFOSR-ISSA-860074.  相似文献

New inequalities of singular values of the integral operators with smoothL 2 kernels are obtained and shown by examples to be sharp if the kernels satisfy also certain boundary conditions. These results are based on an idea of Gohberg-Krein by which the singular values of the integral operators are interrelated to the eigenvalues of some two point boundary value problems.Dedicate to Professor Ky Fan on the occasion of his 85th birthday  相似文献

Summary In this paper the convergence analysis of a direct boundary elecment method for the mixed boundary value problem for Laplace equation in a smooth plane domain is given. The method under consideration is based on the collocation solution by constant elements of the corresponding system of boundary integral equations. We prove the convergence of this method, provide asymptotic error estimates for the BEM-solution and give some numerical examples.  相似文献

Summary We present and analyze methods for the accurate and efficient evaluation of weakly, Cauchy and hypersingular integrals over piecewise analytic curved surfaces in 3.The class of admissible integrands includes all kernels arising in the numerical solution of elliptic boundary value problems in three-dimensional domains by the boundary integral equation method. The possibly not absolutely integrable kernels of boundary integral operators in local coordinates are pseudohomogeneous with analytic characteristics depending on the local geometry of the surface at the source point. This rules out weighted quadrature approaches with a fixed singular weight. For weakly singular integrals it is shown that Duffy's triangular coordinates leadalways to a removal of the kernel singularity. Also asymptotic estimates of the integration error are provided as the size of the boundary element patch tends to zero. These are based on the Rabinowitz-Richter estimates in connection with an asymptotic estimate of domains of analyticity in 2.It is further shown that the modified extrapolation approach due to Lyness is in the weakly singular case always applicable. Corresponding error and asymptotic work estimates are presented. For the weakly singular as well as for Cauchy and hypersingular integrals which e.g. arise in the study of crack problems we analyze a family of product integration rules in local polar coordinates. These rules are hierarchically constructed from finite part integration formulas in radial and Gaussian formulas in angular direction. Again, we show how the Rabinowitz-Richter estimates can be applied providing asymptotic error estimates in terms of orders of the boundary element size.Partially supported by the Priority Research Programme Boundary Element Methods of the German Research Foundation DFG under Grant No. We 659/16-1 (guest programme) and under AFOSR-grant 89-0252.  相似文献

In this paper, we solve fundamental boundary value problems in a theory of antiplane elasticity which includes the effects of material microstructure. Using the real boundary integral equation method, we reduce the fundamental problems to systems of singular integral equations and construct exact solutions in the form of integral potentials.Received: March 25, 2002  相似文献

We consider fundamental (Dirichlet and Neumann-type) boundary value problems in a theory of generalized plane strain for the steady-state vibrations of an infinite piezoelectric medium with transversely isotropic symmetry (6 mm). Using integral equation methods with the appropriate Sommerfeld-type radiation conditions, we prove existence and uniqueness results for the corresponding exterior boundary value problems. Exact solutions are obtained in the form of integral potentials.  相似文献

Three-dimensional mathematical problems of the interaction between thermoelastic and scalar oscillation fields in a general physically anisotropic case are studied by the boundary integral equation methods. Uniqueness and existence theorems are proved by the reduction of the original interface problems to equivalent systems of boundary pseudodifferential equations. In the non-resonance case the invertibility of the corresponding matrix pseudodifferential operators in appropriate functional spaces is shown on the basis of the generalized Sommerfeld-Kupradze type thermoradiation conditions for anisotropic bodies. In the resonance case the co-kernels of the pseudodifferential operators are analysed and the efficient conditions of solvability of the original interface problems are established.  相似文献

Summary Integral operators are nonlocal operators. The operators defined in boundary integral equations to elliptic boundary value problems, however, are pseudo-differential operators on the boundary and, therefore, provide additional pseudolocal properties. These allow the successful application of adaptive procedures to some boundary element methods. In this paper we analyze these methods for general strongly elliptic integral equations and obtain a-posteriori error estimates for boundary element solutions. We also apply these methods to nodal collocation with odd degree splines. Some numerical examples show that these adaptive procedures are reliable and effective. This work was carried out while Dr. De-hao Yu was an Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung research fellow at the University of Stuttgart in 1987, 1988  相似文献

In solving integral equations with a logarithmic kernel, we combine the Galerkin approximation with periodic quasi-wavelet (PQW) [4]. We develop an algorithm for solving the integral equations with only O(N log N) arithmetic operations, where N is the number of knots. We also prove that the Galerkin approximation has a polynomial rate of convergence.  相似文献

By the use of a Guo-Krasnoselskii theorem in cones, existence of positive eigenvalues yielding nonnegative or positive solutions to an integral equation is studied. The results are applied to a variety of boundary value problems concerning ordinary differential equations.  相似文献

In some earlier publications it has been shown that the solutions of the boundary integral equations for some mixed boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation permit integral representations in terms of solutions of associated complicated singular algebraic ordinary differential equations. The solutions of these differential equations, however, are required to be known on some infinite interval on the real line, which is unsatisfactory from a practical point of view. In this paper, for the example of one specific boundary integral equation, the relevant solutions of the associated differential equation are expressed by integrals which contain only one unknown generalized function, the support of this generalized function is no longer unbounded but a compact subset of the real line. This generalized function is a distributional solution of the homogeneous boundary integral equation. By this null space distribution the boundary integral equation can be solved for arbitrary right-hand sides, this solution method can be considered of being analogous to the method of variation of parameters in the theory of ordinary differential equations. The nature of the singularities of the null space distribution is worked out and it is shown that the null space distribution itself can be expressed by solutions of the associated ordinary differential equation.  相似文献

In our previous works we have constructed operator equalities which transform scalar singular integral operators with shift to matrix characteristic singular integral operators without shift and found some of their applications to problems with shift. In this article the operator equalities are used for the study of matrix characteristic singular integral operators. Conditions for the invertibility of the singular integral operators with orientation preserving shift and coefficients with a special structure generated by piecewise constant functions, t, t −1, were found. Conditions for the invertibility of the matrix characteristic singular integral operators with four-valued piecewise constant coefficients of a special structure were likewise obtained.
