The k-convex functions are the viscosity subsolutions to the fully nonlinear elliptic equations F k [u] = 0, where F k [u] is the elementary symmetric function of order k, 1 ? ? 6 n, of the eigenvalues of the Hessian matrix D 2 u. For example, F 1[u] is the Laplacian Δu and F n [u] is the real Monge-Ampère operator detD 2 u, while 1-convex functions and n-convex functions are subharmonic and convex in the classical sense, respectively. In this paper, we establish an approximation theorem for negative k-convex functions, and give several estimates for the mixed k-Hessian operator. Applications of these estimates to the k-Green functions are also established.  相似文献

We study uniformly elliptic fully nonlinear equations of the type F(D2u,Du,u,x)=f(x). We show that convex positively 1-homogeneous operators possess two principal eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, and study these objects; we obtain existence and uniqueness results for nonproper operators whose principal eigenvalues (in some cases, only one of them) are positive; finally, we obtain an existence result for nonproper Isaac's equations.  相似文献

Let F be an oriented forest with n vertices and m arcs and D be a digraph without loops and multiple arcs. In this note we prove that D contains a subdigraph isomorphic to F if D has at least n vertices and min{d+(u)+d+(v),d(u)+d(v),d+(u)+d(v)}≥2m−1 for every pair of vertices u,vV(D) with uvA(D). This is a common generalization of two results of Babu and Diwan, one on the existence of forests in graphs under a degree sum condition and the other on the existence of oriented forests in digraphs under a minimum degree condition.  相似文献

We consider the problem ? Δ u + F u (x, u) = 0 on R n , where F is a smooth function periodic of period 1 in all its variables. We show that, under suitable hypotheses on F, this problem has a family of non-self-intersecting solutions u D , which are at finite distance from a plane of slope (ω,0,…,0) with ω irrational. These solutions depend on a real parameter D; if D ≠ D , then the closures of the integer translates of u D and of u D do not intersect.  相似文献

In this paper we study the monotonicity of positive (or non-negative) viscosity solutions to uniformly elliptic equations F(∇u,D2u)=f(u) in the half plane, where f is locally Lipschitz continuous (with f(0)?0) and zero Dirichlet boundary conditions are imposed. Let F be a finite field, H a subgroup of F1 of index ν, and α1,…, αν coset representatives. For each n-tuple u = (u1,…, un) ?Fn define WH(u) = (w1(u),…, wν(u)), where wm(u) = #{ui: ui?αmH}. An H-monomial map on Fn is an automorphism of Fn whose matrix with respect to the co-ordinate basis is of the form P · D, where P is a permutation matrix and D is a diagonal matrix with non-zero entries from H. Suppose C is an (n, k) code over F (that is, a k-dimensional subspace of Fn) and that ?: CFn is an injective homomorphism which preserves WH in the sense that WH(?(u)) = WH(u) for all u ?C. We prove that ? may be extended to an H-monomial map on Fn. This generalization of a theorem of MacWilliams on the (Hamming) equivalence of codes may be considered an analogue of the Witt theorem of metric vector space theory.  相似文献

We investigate the fractional differential equation u″ + A c D α u = f(t, u, c D μ u, u′) subject to the boundary conditions u′(0) = 0, u(T)+au′(T) = 0. Here α ∈ (1, 2), µ ∈ (0, 1), f is a Carathéodory function and c D is the Caputo fractional derivative. Existence and uniqueness results for the problem are given. The existence results are proved by the nonlinear Leray-Schauder alternative. We discuss the existence of positive and negative solutions to the problem and properties of their derivatives.  相似文献

In this paper, the following nonlinear wave equation is considered; □u=F(u, D u, D x D u),x∈R n ,t>0; u=u 0 (x), u t =u 1 (x), t=0. We prove that if the space dimensionn ≥ 4 and the nonlinearityF is smooth and satisfies a mild condition in a small neighborhood of the origin, then the above problem admits a unique and smooth global solution (in time) whenever the initial data are small and smooth. We prove comparison, uniqueness and existence results for viscosity solutions to a wide class of fully nonlinear second order partial differential equations F(x,u,du,d2u)=0 defined on a finite-dimensional Riemannian manifold M. Finest results (with hypothesis that require the function F to be degenerate elliptic, that is nonincreasing in the second order derivative variable, and uniformly continuous with respect to the variable x) are obtained under the assumption that M has nonnegative sectional curvature, while, if one additionally requires F to depend on d2u in a uniformly continuous manner, then comparison results are established with no restrictive assumptions on curvature.  相似文献

For vertices u and v in an oriented graph D, the closed interval I[u,v] consists of u and v together with all vertices lying in a uv geodesic or vu geodesic in D. For SV(D), I[S] is the union of all closed intervals I[u,v] with u,vS. A set S is convex if I[S]=S. The convexity number con(D) is the maximum cardinality of a proper convex set of V(D). The nontrivial connected oriented graphs of order n with convexity number n−1 are characterized. It is shown that there is no connected oriented graph of order at least 4 with convexity number 2 and that every pair k, n of integers with 1⩽kn−1 and k≠2 is realizable as the convexity number and order, respectively, of some connected oriented graph. For a nontrivial connected graph G, the lower orientable convexity number con(G) is the minimum convexity number among all orientations of G and the upper orientable convexity number con+(G) is the maximum such convexity number. It is shown that con+(G)=n−1 for every graph G of order n⩾2. The lower orientable convexity numbers of some well-known graphs are determined, with special attention given to outerplanar graphs.  相似文献

The method of corner boundary functions is applied to the problem. For the 1+1-dimensional nonlinear diffusion equations with x-dependent convection and source terms ut=(D(u)ux)x+Q(x,u)ux+P(x,u), we obtain conditions under which the equations admit the second-order generalized conditional symmetries η(x,u)=uxx+H(u)ux2+G(x,u)ux+F(x,u) and the first-order sign-invariants J(x,u)=utA(u)ux2B(x,u)uxC(x,u) on the solutions u(x,t). Several different generalized conditional symmetries and first-order sign-invariants for equations in which the diffusion term offers different possibilities (power-law, exponential, Mullin, Fujita) are presented. Exact solutions to the resulting equations corresponding to the generalized conditional symmetries and the first-order sign-invariants are constructed.  相似文献
