Categorified central extensions, étale Lie 2-groups and Lie?s Third Theorem for locally exponential Lie algebras

Lie?s Third Theorem, asserting that each finite-dimensional Lie algebra is the Lie algebra of a Lie group, fails in infinite dimensions. The modern account on this phenomenon is the integration problem for central extensions of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, which in turn is phrased in terms of an integration procedure for Lie algebra cocycles.This paper remedies the obstructions for integrating cocycles and central extensions from Lie algebras to Lie groups by generalising the integrating objects. Those objects obey the maximal coherence that one can expect. Moreover, we show that they are the universal ones for the integration problem.The main application of this result is that a Mackey-complete locally exponential Lie algebra (e.g., a Banach–Lie algebra) integrates to a Lie 2-group in the sense that there is a natural Lie functor from certain Lie 2-groups to Lie algebras, sending the integrating Lie 2-group to an isomorphic Lie algebra.

The socle of a nondegenerate Lie algebra

We define the socle of a nondegenerate Lie algebra as the sum of all its minimal inner ideals. The socle turns out to be an ideal which is a direct sum of simple ideals, and satisfies the descending chain condition on principal inner ideals. Every classical finite dimensional Lie algebra coincides with its socle, while relevant examples of infinite dimensional Lie algebras with nonzero socle are the simple finitary Lie algebras and the classical Banach Lie algebras of compact operators on an infinite dimensional Hilbert space. This notion of socle for Lie algebras is compatible with the previous ones for associative algebras and Jordan systems. We conclude with a structure theorem for simple nondegenerate Lie algebras containing abelian minimal inner ideals, and as a consequence we obtain that a simple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is finitary if and only if it is nondegenerate and contains a rank-one element.     

On the codimension growth of almost nilpotent Lie algebras

We study codimension growth of infinite dimensional Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero. We prove that if a Lie algebra L is an extension of a nilpotent algebra by a finite dimensional semisimple algebra then the PI-exponent of L exists and is a positive integer.

Mod 3 cohomology algebras of finite H-spaces

Let X be a 3 local, finite, simply connected H-space with associative homology ring . Some known examples are the Lie group , Harper's H-space X(3) and any odd dimensional sphere . We prove the cohomology algebra is isomorphic to the cohomology algebra of a finite product of and odd dimensional spheres. Symmetry analysis of a system of modified shallow-water equations

We revise the symmetry analysis of a modified system of one-dimensional shallow-water equations (MSWE) recently considered by Raja Sekhar and Sharma [Commun Nonlinear Sci Numer Simulat 2012;20:630–36]. Only a finite dimensional subalgebra of the maximal Lie invariance algebra of the MSWE, which in fact is infinite dimensional, was found in the aforementioned paper. The MSWE can be linearized using a hodograph transformation. An optimal list of inequivalent one-dimensional subalgebras of the maximal Lie invariance algebra is constructed and used for Lie reductions. Non-Lie solutions are found from solutions of the linearized MSWE.
