If M and N are modules, the concept of semiregularity (and regularity) of hom(M,N) is defined and studied, and the connection with the relative direct injective- and direct projective-properties is established. The relationship of semiregularity to the Jacobson radical of hom(M,N), to the singular and cosingular ideals of hom(M,N), and to the notion of lying over or under a direct summand, is described, and the basic results in the module case are extended.

We generalize the decomposition theorem of Hochschild, Kostant and Rosenberg for Hochschild (co-)homology to arbitrary morphisms between complex spaces or schemes over a field of characteristic zero. To be precise, we show that for each such morphism XY, the Hochschild complex HX/Y, as introduced in [R.-O. Buchweitz, H. Flenner, Global Hochschild (co-)homology of singular spaces, Adv. Math. (2007), doi: 10.1016/j.aim.2007.06.012], decomposes naturally in the derived category D(X) into p?0Sp(LX/Y[1]), the direct sum of the derived symmetric powers of the shifted cotangent complex, a result due to Quillen in the affine case.Even in the affine case, our proof is new and provides further information. It shows that the decomposition is given explicitly and naturally by the universal Atiyah-Chern character, the exponential of the universal Atiyah class.We further use the decomposition theorem to show that the semiregularity map for perfect complexes factors through Hochschild homology and, in turn, factors the Atiyah-Hochschild character through the characteristic homomorphism from Hochschild cohomology to the graded centre of the derived category.  相似文献

In this paper we review some of the recently introduced hypertopologies on collections of nonempty closed subsets of a metrizable space in the context of continuity properties of the prox map and the restricted center map. We identify here suitable families A, B of nonempty closed sets equipped with natural topologies, as coordinate spaces for the gap functional and the restricted radius functional, with a view to explore bivariate continuity of these functionals. This leads us to sharpenings of many known results as well as to some new results for upper semicontinuity of the prox map and the restricted center map. This, in turn, also leads us to improvements of certain best approximation results for convex-valued multifunctions and fixed point theorems for such multifunctions.  相似文献

We prove that a pseudoholomorphic diffeomorphism between two almost complex manifolds with boundaries satisfying some pseudoconvexity type conditions cannot map a pseudoholomorphic disc in the boundary to a single point. This can be viewed as an almost complex analogue of a well known theorem of J. E. Fornaess.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the question of reconstructing a vector in a finite-dimensional complex Hilbert space when only the magnitudes of the coefficients of the vector under a redundant linear map are known. We present new invertibility results as well as an iterative algorithm that finds the least-square solution, which is robust in the presence of noise. We analyze its numerical performance by comparing it to the Cramer–Rao lower bound.  相似文献

In the present paper, we start studying epistemic updates using the standard toolkit of duality theory. We focus on public announcements, which are the simplest epistemic actions, and hence on Public Announcement Logic (PAL) without the common knowledge operator. As is well known, the epistemic action of publicly announcing a given proposition is semantically represented as a transformation of the model encoding the current epistemic setup of the given agents; the given current model being replaced with its submodel relativized to the announced proposition. We dually characterize the associated submodel-injection map as a certain pseudo-quotient map between the complex algebras respectively associated with the given model and with its relativized submodel. As is well known, these complex algebras are complete atomic BAOs (Boolean algebras with operators). The dual characterization we provide naturally generalizes to much wider classes of algebras, which include, but are not limited to, arbitrary BAOs and arbitrary modal expansions of Heyting algebras (HAOs). Thanks to this construction, the benefits and the wider scope of applications given by a point-free, intuitionistic theory of epistemic updates are made available. As an application of this dual characterization, we axiomatize the intuitionistic analogue of PAL, which we refer to as IPAL, prove soundness and completeness of IPAL w.r.t. both algebraic and relational models, and show that the well known Muddy Children Puzzle can be formalized in IPAL.  相似文献

We show that the index defined via a trace for Fredholm elements in a Banach algebra has the property that an index zero Fredholm element can be decomposed as the sum of an invertible element and an element in the socle. We identify the set of index zero Fredholm elements as an upper semiregularity with the Jacobson property. The Weyl spectrum is then characterized in terms of the index.  相似文献

Different methods are proposed and tested for transforming a nonlinear differential system, and more particularly a Hamiltonian one, into a map without having to integrate the whole orbit as in the well known Poincaré map technique . We construct a synthetic map, based on a global fitting, which satisfies the symplectic condition. Taking the Standard Map as a model problem we point our attention on methods suitable for comparing the model map and its synthetic counterpart. We test the agreement of the fitting on finer scales through the visual representation, the computation of the rotation number and the measure of the local distribution of the Lyapunov characteristic exponents. Comparing these results with those obtained by Froeschlé and Petit using a method based on Taylor interpolation, we show that the symplectic character is a crucial condition for the recovering of the finest details of a dynamical system. On the other hand the global character of our method makes the generalization to any system of differential equations difficult.  相似文献

Kohonen's self-organizing map (SOM) network is one of the most important network architectures developed during the 1980s. The main function of SOM networks is to map the input data from an n-dimensional space to a lower-dimensional (usually one or two dimensional) plot while maintaining the original topological relations. A well known limitation of the Kohonen network is the ‘boundary effect’ of nodes on or near the edge of the network. The boundary effect is responsible for the undue influence of the initial random weights assigned to the nodes of the network, which can lead to incorrect topological representations. To overcome this limitation, we use a modified, ‘circular’, weight adjustment algorithm. Our procedure is most effective with the class of problems where the actual coordinates of the output map do not need to correspond to the original input topology. This class of problems includes applications requiring clustering or classification of input data. We tested our method with a well known example problem from the domain of Group Technology, which is typical of this class of problems. Test results show that the circular weight adjustment procedure has better convergence properties, and that the clusters formed using the circular approach are at least as good as, and in many cases superior to, the basic SOM method for these types of problems.  相似文献

We construct and analyze a family of well‐conditioned boundary integral equations for the Krylov iterative solution of three‐dimensional elastic scattering problems by a bounded rigid obstacle. We develop a new potential theory using a rewriting of the Somigliana integral representation formula. From these results, we generalize to linear elasticity the well‐known Brakhage–Werner and combined field integral equation formulations. We use a suitable approximation of the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map as a regularizing operator in the proposed boundary integral equations. The construction of the approximate Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map is inspired by the on‐surface radiation conditions method. We prove that the associated integral equations are uniquely solvable and possess very interesting spectral properties. Thegenus is determined for spaces of the homotopy type of aCW complex with one cell each in dimensions 0, 2n and 4n (and no other cells), such spaces providing the only cases of spaces with two non-trivial cells such that the homotopy class of the attaching map for the top cell is of infinite order and the genus of the space is non-trivial. The genus is characterised completely by two well understood invariants: theHopf invariant of the attaching map of the 4n-cell and the genus of thesuspension of the space. The algebraic tools are developed for the investigation of the ν-cancellation behaviour of these spaces and a cancellation theorem is proved: the homotopy type of a finite wedge of such spaces determines the homotopy type of each of the summands as long as the attaching maps of the 4n-cells all represent homotopy classes of infinite order. Comparing this result to known results aboutfinite co-H-spaces shows that the Hopf invariant is the single obstruction to such spaces admitting a co-H structure.  相似文献

It is well known there is no non-constant harmonic map from a closed Riemannian manifold of positive Ricci curvature to a complete Riemannian manifold with non-positive sectional curvature. By reducing the assumption on the Ricci curvature to one on the scalar curvature, such vanishing theorem cannot hold in general. This raises the question: “What information can we obtain from the existence of non-constant harmonic map?” This paper gives answer to this problem; the results obtained are optimal.  相似文献

Discretization of second order elliptic partial differential equations by discontinuous Galerkin method often results in numerical schemes with penalties. In this paper we analyze these penalized schemes in the context of quite general triangular meshes satisfying only a semiregularity assumption. A new (modified) penalty term is presented and theoretical properties are proven together with illustrative numerical results. In the finite-dimensional case, we present a new approach to the theory of cones with a mapping cone symmetry, first introduced by Størmer. Our method is based on a definition of an inner product in the space of linear maps between two algebras of operators and the fact that the Jamio?kowski-Choi isomorphism is an isometry. We consider a slightly modified class of cones, although not substantially different from the original mapping cones by Størmer. Using the new approach, several known results are proved faster and often in more generality than before. For example, the dual of a mapping cone turns out to be a mapping cone as well, without any additional assumptions. The main result of the paper is a characterization of cones with a mapping cone symmetry, saying that a given map is an element of such cone if and only if the composition of the map with the conjugate of an arbitrary element in the dual cone is completely positive. A similar result was known in the case where the map goes from an algebra of operators into itself and the cone is a symmetric mapping cone. Our result is proved without the additional assumptions of symmetry and equality between the domain and the target space. We show how it gives a number of older results as a corollary, including an exemplary application.  相似文献

Within Clifford Algebra and a twistor formalism, we analyze a simingly five dimensional and massive Dirac square root like linearized equation in terms of bilinear twistor operators. The equation is transformed to an eigenvalue problem with the help of the procedure known as Jordan’s map. The solutions for this equation consist of a discrete spectrum of massive bound particle states, which we may call elementary internal excitations. The five-dimensional formalism is embedded in otherwise standard spacetime complex Clifford Algebra.  相似文献
