We consider families of sparse Laurent polynomials f1,…,fn with a finite set of common zeros Zf in the torus Tn=(C−{0})n. The global residue assigns to every Laurent polynomial g the sum of its Grothendieck residues over Zf. We present a new symbolic algorithm for computing the global residue as a rational function of the coefficients of the fi when the Newton polytopes of the fi are full-dimensional. Our results have consequences in sparse polynomial interpolation and lattice point enumeration in Minkowski sums of polytopes.  相似文献

For any additive character ψ and multiplicative character χ on a finite field Fq, and rational functions f,g in Fq(x), we show that the elementary Stepanov-Schmidt method can be used to obtain the corresponding Weil bound for the sum ∑xFq?Sχ(g(x))ψ(f(x)) where S is the set of the poles of f and g. A new approach for computing an expression of the form a1/2k-1a^{1/2^k}-1 is presented that avoids the danger of subtractive cancellation in floating point arithmetic, where a is a complex number not belonging to the closed negative real axis and k is a nonnegative integer. We also derive a condition number for the problem. The algorithm therefore allows highly accurate numerical calculation of log(a) using Briggs’ method.  相似文献

The aim of this study is the approximation of a solution x ? of the generalized equation 0∈f(x)+F(x) in Banach spaces, where f is a single function whose second order Fréchet derivative ?2 f verifies an Hölder condition, and F stands for a set-valued map with closed graph. Using a fixed point theorem and proceeding by induction under the pseudo-Lipschitz property of F, we obtain a sequence defined by a midpoint formula whose convergence to x ? is superquadratic. Taking a weaker condition, we present the result obtained when ?2 f satisfies a center-Hölder conditioning.  相似文献

Motivated by computing iterative roots for general continuous functions, in this paper we prove the continuity of the iteration operators Tn, defined by Tnf=fn. We apply the continuity and introduce the concept of continuity degree to answer positively the approximation question: If limmFm=F, can we find an iterative root fm of Fm of order n for each mN such that the sequence (fm) tends to the iterative root of F of order n associated with a given initial function? We not only give the construction of such an approximating sequence (fm) but also illustrate the approximation of iterative roots with an example. Some remarks are presented in order to compare our approximation with the Hyers-Ulam stability.  相似文献

By catching the so-called strictly critical points,this paper presents an effective algorithm for computing the global infimum of a polynomial function.For a multivariate real polynomial f ,the algorithm in this paper is able to decide whether or not the global infimum of f is finite.In the case of f having a finite infimum,the global infimum of f can be accurately coded in the Interval Representation.Another usage of our algorithm to decide whether or not the infimum of f is attained when the global infimum of f is finite.In the design of our algorithm,Wu’s well-known method plays an important role.  相似文献

The main purpose of this article is to show that f can be chosen in such a way that f¦?F has a holomorphic continuation to the open set (? F) × i? ? ?. In the special case that F is a compact interval or a single point we can even achieve that f¦?F has a holomorphic continuation to all of $\hat {\rm C}\setminus F$ . In particular, this implies an improvement of the well-known theorem of E. Borel. We also investigate the question when such extensions are given by a so-called extension operator.  相似文献

Does it follow thatf takes invertible values on all ofD? For important classes of Banach algebras, the answer is positive. In general, however, it is negative. The counterexample showing this involves a (nontrivial) zero sum of logarithmic residues (that are in fact idempotents). The results of vertical ionospheric soundings at Ahmedabad during the partial (magnitude 47%) solar eclipse on 14th December 1955 are discussed. The critical frequency of the E layer on control days varied according to the lawf oE=kcos n X, k andn having the mean values 4·06 Mc./s. and 0·37 respectively. The variation off oE during eclipse period was roughly consistent with that of Chapman Layer with a recombination coefficient of about 0·8 × 10?8 cm.3 sec.?1 The critical frequencies of E1, E2 and F1 layers decreased during eclipse, though the variations were irregular. The percentage deviation off 0F2 on the eclipse day from the control day values showed a minimum at about the middle of the eclipse period. There were indications of the formation off 1·5 during the latter part of the eclipse. Semi-thickness of the F2 layer had increased during the eclipse period. Sporadic E layer was not affected by the eclipse.  相似文献

We prove that, for n?4, there are C nonnegative functions f of n variables (and even flat ones for n?5) which are not a finite sum of squares of C2 functions. For n=1, where a decomposition in a sum of two squares is always possible, we investigate the possibility of writing f=g2. We prove that, in general, one cannot require a better regularity than gC1. The corresponding L functions are defined by L(f, t)=exp(∑m=0Sm(f)tm/m). In this paper, we apply Dwork's method to determine the Newton polygon for the L function L(f(x), t) associated with one variable polynomial f(x) when deg f(x)=4. On a complete Riemannian manifold M with Ricci curvature satisfying $$\mathrm{Ric}(\nabla r,\nabla r) \geq -Ar^2(\log r)^2(\log(\log r))^2\cdots (\log^{k}r)^2$$ for r?1, where A>0 is a constant, and r is the distance from an arbitrarily fixed point in M, we prove some Liouville-type theorems for a C 2 function f:M→? satisfying ΔfF(f) for a function F:?→?. As an application, we obtain a C 0 estimate of a spinor satisfying the Seiberg–Witten equations on such a manifold of dimension 4. We also give applications to the conformal transformation of the scalar curvature and isometric immersions of such a manifold.  相似文献

Randomly distributed non-overlapping perfectly conducting spheres are embedded in a conducting matrix with the concentration of inclusions f. Jeffrey (1973) suggested an analytical formula valid up to O(f3) for macroscopically isotropic random composites. A conditionally convergent sum arose in the spatial averaging. In the present paper, we apply a method of functional equations to random composites and correct Jeffrey’s formula. The main revision concerns the proper investigation of the conditionally convergent sum and correction the f2-term. An algorithm for symbolic computations of the effective conductivity tensor is developed and performed up to O(f103). The obtained formulae explicitly demonstrate the dependence of the effective conductivity tensor on the deterministic and probabilistic distributions of inclusions in the f2-term, and in the f3-term. This leads to the conclusion that some previous formulae presented as universal, i.e., valid for all random composites, may be actually applied only to dilute or to special composites when interaction between inclusions do not matter.  相似文献

A general method for constructing quasi-interpolation operators based on B-splines is developed. Given a B-spline ? in Rs, s≥1, normalized by ∑iZs?(⋅−i)=1, the classical structure Q(f)?∑iZsλf(⋅+i)?(⋅−i), for a quasi-interpolation operator Q is considered. A minimization problem is derived from an estimate of the quasi-interpolation error associated with Q when λf is a linear combination of values of f at points in some neighbourhood of the support of ?; or a linear combination of values of f and some of its derivatives at some points in this set; or a linear combination of weighted mean values of the function to be approximated. That linear functional is defined to produce a quasi-interpolant exact on the space of polynomials of maximal total degree included in the space spanned by the integer translates of ?. The solution of that minimization problem is characterized in terms of specific splines which do not depend on λ but only on ?.  相似文献
