In this paper, a sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming method of feasible directions is proposed for the optimization problems with nonlinear inequality constraints. At each iteration of the proposed algorithm, a feasible direction of descent is obtained by solving only one subproblem which consist of a convex quadratic objective function and simple quadratic inequality constraints without the second derivatives of the functions of the discussed problems, and such a subproblem can be formulated as a second-order cone programming which can be solved by interior point methods. To overcome the Maratos effect, an efficient higher-order correction direction is obtained by only one explicit computation formula. The algorithm is proved to be globally convergent and superlinearly convergent under some mild conditions without the strict complementarity. Finally, some preliminary numerical results are reported. In this paper, a sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming (SQCQP) method for unconstrained minimax problems is presented. At each iteration the SQCQP method solves a subproblem that involves convex quadratic inequality constraints and a convex quadratic objective function. The global convergence of the method is obtained under much weaker conditions without any constraint qualification. Under reasonable assumptions, we prove the strong convergence, superlinearly and quadratic convergence rate.  相似文献

This paper discusses a special class of mathematical programs with nonlinear complementarity constraints, its goal is to present a globally and superlinearly convergent algorithm for the discussed problems. We first reformulate the complementarity constraints as a standard nonlinear equality and inequality constraints by making use of a class of generalized smoothing complementarity functions, then present a new SQP algorithm for the discussed problems. At each iteration, with the help of a pivoting operation, a master search direction is yielded by solving a quadratic program, and a correction search direction for avoiding the Maratos effect is generated by an explicit formula. Under suitable assumptions, without the strict complementarity on the upper-level inequality constraints, the proposed algorithm converges globally to a B-stationary point of the problems, and its convergence rate is superlinear.AMS Subject Classification: 90C, 49MThis work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation (10261001) and the Guangxi Province Science Foundation (0236001, 0249003) of China.  相似文献

In this paper, the nonlinear minimax problems with inequality constraints are discussed. Based on the idea of simple sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming algorithm for smooth constrained optimization, an alternative algorithm for solving the discussed problems is proposed. Unlike the previous work, at each iteration, a feasible direction of descent called main search direction is obtained by solving only one subprogram which is composed of a convex quadratic objective function and simple quadratic inequality constraints without the second derivatives of the constrained functions. Then a high-order correction direction used to avoid the Maratos effect is computed by updating the main search direction with a system of linear equations. The proposed algorithm possesses global convergence under weak Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification and superlinear convergence under suitable conditions with the upper-level strict complementarity. At last, some preliminary numerical results are reported.  相似文献

This paper presents a quadratically approximate algorithm framework (QAAF) for solving general constrained optimization problems, which solves, at each iteration, a subproblem with quadratic objective function and quadratic equality together with inequality constraints. The global convergence of the algorithm framework is presented under the Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification (MFCQ), and the conditions for superlinear and quadratic convergence of the algorithm framework are given under the MFCQ, the constant rank constraint qualification (CRCQ) as well as the strong second-order sufficiency conditions (SSOSC). As an incidental result, the definition of an approximate KKT point is brought forward, and the global convergence of a sequence of approximate KKT points is analysed.  相似文献

Based on the ideas of norm-relaxed sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method and the strongly sub-feasible direction method, we propose a new SQP algorithm for the solution of nonlinear inequality constrained optimization. Unlike the previous work, at each iteration, the norm-relaxed quadratic programming subproblem (NRQPS) in our algorithm only consists of the constraints corresponding to an estimate of the active set, and the high-order correction direction (used to avoid the Maratos effect) is obtained by solving a system of linear equations (SLE) which also only consists of such a subset of constraints and gradients. Moreover, the line search technique can effectively combine the initialization process with the optimization process, and therefore (if the starting point is not feasible) the iteration points always get into the feasible set after a finite number of iterations. The global convergence is proved under the Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification (MFCQ), and the superlinear convergence is obtained without assuming the strict complementarity. Finally, the numerical experiments show that the proposed algorithm is effective and promising for the test problems.  相似文献

In this paper, a kind of optimization problems with nonlinear inequality constraints is discussed. Combined the ideas of norm-relaxed SQP method and strongly sub-feasible direction method as well as a pivoting operation, a new fast algorithm with arbitrary initial point for the discussed problem is presented. At each iteration of the algorithm, an improved direction is obtained by solving only one direction finding subproblem which possesses small scale and always has an optimal solution, and to avoid the Maratos effect, another correction direction is yielded by a simple explicit formula. Since the line search technique can automatically combine the initialization and optimization processes, after finite iterations, the iteration points always get into the feasible set. The proposed algorithm is proved to be globally convergent and superlinearly convergent under mild conditions without the strict complementarity. Finally, some numerical tests are reported.  相似文献

We present a robust filter SQP algorithm for solving constrained optimization problems. This algorithm is based on the modified quadratic programming proposed by Burke to avoid the infeasibility of the quadratic programming subproblem at each iteration. Compared with other filter SQP algorithms, our algorithm does not require any restoration phase procedure which may spend a large amount of computation. The main advantage of our algorithm is that it is globally convergent without requiring strong constraint qualifications, such as Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification (MFCQ) and the constant rank constraint qualification (CRCQ). Furthermore, the feasible limit points of the sequence generated by our algorithm are proven to be the KKT points if some weaker conditions are satisfied. Numerical results are also presented to show the efficiency of the algorithm.  相似文献

We propose a merit-function piecewise SQP algorithm for mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints (MPEC) formulated as mathematical programs with complementarity constraints. Under mild conditions, the new algorithm is globally convergent to a piecewise stationary point. Moreover, if the partial MPEC linear independence constraint qualification (LICQ) is satisfied at the accumulation point, then the accumulation point is an S-stationary point. An efficient SQP algorithm for solving nonlinear degenerate problems is proposed in the paper. At each iteration of the algorithm, a quadratic programming subproblem, which is always feasible by introducing a slack variable, is solved to obtain a search direction. The steplength along this direction is computed by employing the 1∞ exact penalty function through Armijo-type line search scheme. The algorithm is proved to be convergent globally under mild conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of general nonlinear programming problems with inequality and equality constraints is discussed. Firstly, the original problem is transformed into an associated simpler equivalent problem with only inequality constraints. Then, inspired by the ideals of the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method and the method of system of linear equations (SLE), a new type of SQP algorithm for solving the original problem is proposed. At each iteration, the search direction is generated by the combination of two directions, which are obtained by solving an always feasible quadratic programming (QP) subproblem and a SLE, respectively. Moreover, in order to overcome the Maratos effect, the higher-order correction direction is obtained by solving another SLE. The two SLEs have the same coefficient matrices, and we only need to solve the one of them after a finite number of iterations. By a new line search technique, the proposed algorithm possesses global and superlinear convergence under some suitable assumptions without the strict complementarity. Finally, some comparative numerical results are reported to show that the proposed algorithm is effective and promising.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of optimization problems with equality and inequality constraints is discussed. Firstly, the original problem is transformed to an associated simpler problem with only inequality constraints and a parameter. The later problem is shown to be equivalent to the original problem if the parameter is large enough (but finite), then a feasible descent SQP algorithm for the simplified problem is presented. At each iteration of the proposed algorithm, a master direction is obtained by solving a quadratic program (which always has a feasible solution). With two corrections on the master direction by two simple explicit formulas, the algorithm generates a feasible descent direction for the simplified problem and a height-order correction direction which can avoid the Maratos effect without the strict complementarity, then performs a curve search to obtain the next iteration point. Thanks to the new height-order correction technique, under mild conditions without the strict complementarity, the globally and superlinearly convergent properties are obtained. Finally, an efficient implementation of the numerical experiments is reported.  相似文献

For a solvable monotone complementarity problem we show that each feasible point which is not a solution of the problem provides simple numerical bounds for some or all components of all solution vectors. Consequently for a solvable differentiable convex program each primal-dual feasible point which is not optimal provides simple bounds for some or all components of all primal-dual solution vectors. We also give an existence result and simple bounds for solutions of monotone compementarity problems satisfying a new, distributed constraint qualification. This result carries over to a simple existence and boundedness result for differentiable convex programs satisfying a similar constraint qualification.Sponsored by the United States Army under Contract No. DAAG29-80-C-0041. We consider the problem of minimizing an indefinite quadratic objective function subject to twosided indefinite quadratic constraints. Under a suitable simultaneous diagonalization assumption (which trivially holds for trust region type problems), we prove that the original problem is equivalent to a convex minimization problem with simple linear constraints. We then consider a special problem of minimizing a concave quadratic function subject to finitely many convex quadratic constraints, which is also shown to be equivalent to a minimax convex problem. In both cases we derive the explicit nonlinear transformations which allow for recovering the optimal solution of the nonconvex problems via their equivalent convex counterparts. Special cases and applications are also discussed. We outline interior-point polynomial-time algorithms for the solution of the equivalent convex programs. We propose an SQP-type algorithm for solving nonlinear second-order cone programming (NSOCP) problems. At every iteration, the algorithm solves a convex SOCP subproblem in which the constraints involve linear approximations of the constraint functions in the original problem and the objective function is a convex quadratic function. Those subproblems can be transformed into linear SOCP problems, for which efficient interior point solvers are available. We establish global convergence and local quadratic convergence of the algorithm under appropriate assumptions. We report numerical results to examine the effectiveness of the algorithm. Combining the norm-relaxed sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method and the idea of method of quasi-strongly sub-feasible directions (MQSSFD) with active set identification technique, a new SQP algorithm for solving nonlinear inequality constrained optimization is proposed. Unlike the previous work, at each iteration of the proposed algorithm, the norm-relaxed quadratic programming (QP) subproblem only consists of the constraints corresponding to an active identification set. Moreover, the high-order correction direction (used to avoid the Maratos effect) is yielded by solving a system of linear equations (SLE) which also includes only the constraints and their gradients corresponding to the active identification set, therefore, the scale and the computation cost of the high-order correction directions are further decreased. The arc search in our algorithm can effectively combine the initialization processes with the optimization processes, and the iteration points can get into the feasible set after a finite number of iterations. Furthermore, the arc search conditions are weaker than the previous work, and the computation cost is further reduced. The global convergence is proved under the Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification (MFCQ). If the strong second-order sufficient conditions are satisfied, then the active constraints are exactly identified by the identification set. Without the strict complementarity, superlinear convergence can be obtained. Finally, some elementary numerical results are reported.  相似文献

In this paper, the nonlinear minimax problems with inequality constraints are discussed, and a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm with a generalized monotone line search is presented. At each iteration, a feasible direction of descent is obtained by solving a quadratic programming (QP). To avoid the Maratos effect, a high order correction direction is achieved by solving another QP. As a result, the proposed algorithm has global and superlinear convergence. Especially, the global convergence is obtained under a weak Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification (MFCQ) instead of the linearly independent constraint qualification (LICQ). At last, its numerical effectiveness is demonstrated with test examples.  相似文献

The presence of complementarity constraints brings a combinatorial flavour to an optimization problem. A quadratic programming problem with complementarity constraints can be relaxed to give a semidefinite programming problem. The solution to this relaxation can be used to generate feasible solutions to the complementarity constraints. A quadratic programming problem is solved for each of these feasible solutions and the best resulting solution provides an estimate for the optimal solution to the quadratic program with complementarity constraints. Computational testing of such an approach is described for a problem arising in portfolio optimization.Research supported in part by the National Science Foundations VIGRE Program (Grant DMS-9983646).Research partially supported by NSF Grant number CCR-9901822.  相似文献

In this paper,a new globally convergent algorithm for nonlinear optimization prablems with equality and inequality constraints is presented. The new algorithm is of SQP type which determines a search direction by solving a quadratic programming subproblem per itera-tion. Some revisions on the quadratic programming subproblem have been made in such a way that the associated constraint region is nonempty for each point x generated by the algorithm, i. e. , the subproblems always have optimal solutions. The new algorithm has two important properties. The computation of revision parameter for guaranteeing the consistency of quadratic sub-problem and the computation of the second order correction step for superlinear convergence use the same inverse of a matrix per iteration, so the computation amount of the new algorithm will not be increased much more than other SQP type algorithms; Another is that the new algorithm can give automatically a feasible point as a starting point for the quadratic subproblems pe  相似文献

Based on a new efficient identification technique of active constraints introduced in this paper, a new sequential systems of linear equations (SSLE) algorithm generating feasible iterates is proposed for solving nonlinear optimization problems with inequality constraints. In this paper, we introduce a new technique for constructing the system of linear equations, which recurs to a perturbation for the gradients of the constraint functions. At each iteration of the new algorithm, a feasible descent direction is obtained by solving only one system of linear equations without doing convex combination. To ensure the global convergence and avoid the Maratos effect, the algorithm needs to solve two additional reduced systems of linear equations with the same coefficient matrix after finite iterations. The proposed algorithm is proved to be globally and superlinearly convergent under some mild conditions. What distinguishes this algorithm from the previous feasible SSLE algorithms is that an improving direction is obtained easily and the computation cost of generating a new iterate is reduced. Finally, a preliminary implementation has been tested.  相似文献
