Let \((M^3,g,e^{-f}d\mu _M)\) be a compact three-dimensional smooth metric measure space with nonempty boundary. Suppose that M has nonnegative Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature and the boundary \(\partial M\) is strictly f-mean convex. We prove that there exists a properly embedded smooth f-minimal surface \(\Sigma \) in M with free boundary \(\partial \Sigma \) on \(\partial M\). If we further assume that the boundary \(\partial M\) is strictly convex, then we prove that \(M^3\) is diffeomorphic to the 3-ball \(B^3\), and a compactness theorem for the space of properly embedded f-minimal surfaces with free boundary in such \((M^3,g,e^{-f}d\mu _M)\), when the topology of these f-minimal surfaces is fixed.  相似文献

Gagola and Lewis proved that a finite group G is nilpotent if and only if \(\chi (1)^2\) divides |G :  \(\mathrm{Ker}\) \(\chi |\) for all irreducible characters \(\chi \) of G. In this paper, we prove the following generalization that a finite group G is nilpotent if and only if \(\chi (1)^2\) divides |G :  \(\mathrm{Ker}\) \(\chi |\) for all monolithic characters \(\chi \) of G.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain an analogue of Toponogov theorem in dimension 3 for compact manifolds \(M^3\) with nonnegative Ricci curvature and strictly convex boundary \(\partial M\). Here we obtain a sharp upper bound for the length \(L(\partial \Sigma )\) of the boundary \(\partial \Sigma \) of a free boundary minimal surface \(\Sigma ^2\) in \(M^3\) in terms of the genus of \(\Sigma \) and the number of connected components of \(\partial \Sigma \), assuming \(\Sigma \) has index one. After, under a natural hypothesis on the geometry of M along \(\partial M\), we prove that if \(L(\partial \Sigma )\) saturates the respective upper bound, then \(M^3\) is isometric to the Euclidean 3-ball and \(\Sigma ^2\) is isometric to the Euclidean disk. In particular, we get a sharp upper bound for the area of \(\Sigma \), when \(M^3\) is a strictly convex body in \(\mathbb {R}^3\), which is saturated only on the Euclidean 3-balls (by the Euclidean disks). We also consider similar results for free boundary stable CMC surfaces.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the compactness of \(\beta \)-symplectic critical surfaces in a Kähler surface. Let M be a compact Kähler surface and \(\Sigma _i\subset M\) be a sequence of closed \(\beta _i\)-symplectic critical surfaces with \(\beta _i\rightarrow \beta _0\in (0,\infty )\). Suppose the quantity \(\int _{\Sigma _i}\frac{1}{\cos ^q\alpha _i}d\mu _i\) (for some \(q>4\)) and the genus of \(\Sigma _{i}\) are bounded, then there exists a finite set of points \({{\mathcal {S}}}\subset M\) and a subsequence \(\Sigma _{i'}\) which converges uniformly in the \(C^l\) topology (for any \(l<\infty \)) on compact subsets of \(M\backslash {{\mathcal {S}}}\) to a \(\beta _0\)-symplectic critical surface \(\Sigma \subset M\), each connected component of \(\Sigma \setminus {{\mathcal {S}}}\) can be extended smoothly across \({{\mathcal {S}}}\).  相似文献

Let M be a smooth compact and simply-connected manifold with simply-connected boundary \(\partial M\), r be a fixed odd natural number. We consider f, a \(C^1\) self-map of M, preserving \(\partial M\). Under the assumption that the dimension of M is at least 4, we define an invariant \(D_r(f;M,\partial M)\) that is equal to the minimal number of r-periodic points for all maps preserving \(\partial M\) and \(C^1\)-homotopic to f. As an application, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a reduction of a set of r-periodic points to one point in the \(C^1\)-homotopy class.  相似文献

The set \(\mathcal {D}_n\) of all difunctional relations on an n element set is an inverse semigroup under a variation of the usual composition operation. We solve an open problem of Kudryavtseva and Maltcev (Publ Math Debrecen 78(2):253–282, 2011), which asks: What is the rank (smallest size of a generating set) of \(\mathcal {D}_n\)? Specifically, we show that the rank of \(\mathcal {D}_n\) is \(B(n)+n\), where B(n) is the nth Bell number. We also give the rank of an arbitrary ideal of \(\mathcal {D}_n\). Although \(\mathcal {D}_n\) bears many similarities with families such as the full transformation semigroups and symmetric inverse semigroups (all contain the symmetric group and have a chain of \(\mathscr {J}\)-classes), we note that the fast growth of \({\text {rank}}(\mathcal {D}_n)\) as a function of n is a property not shared with these other families.  相似文献

Given a (transitive or non-transitive) Anosov vector field X on a closed three dimensional manifold M, one may try to decompose (MX) by cutting M along tori and Klein bottles transverse to X. We prove that one can find a finite collection \(\{S_1,\dots ,S_n\}\) of pairwise disjoint, pairwise non-parallel tori and Klein bottles transverse to X, such that the maximal invariant sets \(\Lambda _1,\dots ,\Lambda _m\) of the connected components \(V_1,\dots ,V_m\) of \(M-(S_1\cup \dots \cup S_n)\) satisfy the following properties:
  • each \(\Lambda _i\) is a compact invariant locally maximal transitive set for X;
  • the collection \(\{\Lambda _1,\dots ,\Lambda _m\}\) is canonically attached to the pair (MX) (i.e. it can be defined independently of the collection of tori and Klein bottles \(\{S_1,\dots ,S_n\}\));
  • the \(\Lambda _i\)’s are the smallest possible: for every (possibly infinite) collection \(\{S_i\}_{i\in I}\) of tori and Klein bottles transverse to X, the \(\Lambda _i\)’s are contained in the maximal invariant set of \(M-\cup _i S_i\).
To a certain extent, the sets \(\Lambda _1,\dots ,\Lambda _m\) are analogs (for Anosov vector field in dimension 3) of the basic pieces which appear in the spectral decomposition of a non-transitive axiom A vector field. Then we discuss the uniqueness of such a decomposition: we prove that the pieces of the decomposition \(V_1,\dots ,V_m\), equipped with the restriction of the Anosov vector field X, are “almost unique up to topological equivalence”.

Let \(G{/}H\) be a compact homogeneous space, and let \(\hat{g}_0\) and \(\hat{g}_1\) be G-invariant Riemannian metrics on \(G/H\). We consider the problem of finding a G-invariant Einstein metric g on the manifold \(G/H\times [0,1]\) subject to the constraint that g restricted to \(G{/}H\times \{0\}\) and \(G/H\times \{1\}\) coincides with \(\hat{g}_0\) and \(\hat{g}_1\), respectively. By assuming that the isotropy representation of \(G/H\) consists of pairwise inequivalent irreducible summands, we show that we can always find such an Einstein metric.  相似文献

If G is a compact Lie group endowed with a left invariant metric g, then G acts via pullback by isometries on each eigenspace of the associated Laplace operator \(\Delta _g\). We establish algebraic criteria for the existence of left invariant metrics g on G such that each eigenspace of \(\Delta _g\), regarded as the real vector space of the corresponding real eigenfunctions, is irreducible under the action of G. We prove that generic left invariant metrics on the Lie groups \(G={ SU}(2)\times \cdots \times { SU}(2)\times T\), where T is a (possibly trivial) torus, have the property just described. The same holds for quotients of such groups G by discrete central subgroups. In particular, it also holds for \({ SO}(3)\), \({ U}(2)\), \({ SO}(4)\).  相似文献

This paper extends, in a sharp way, the famous Efimov’s Theorem to immersed ends in \(\mathbb {R}^3\). More precisely, let M be a non-compact connected surface with compact boundary. Then there is no complete isometric immersion of M into \(\mathbb {R}^3\) satisfying that \(\int _M |K|=+\infty \) and \(K\le -\kappa <0\), where \(\kappa \) is a positive constant and K is the Gaussian curvature of M. In particular Efimov’s Theorem holds for complete Hadamard immersed surfaces, whose Gaussian curvature K is bounded away from zero outside a compact set.  相似文献

For a compact surface S, let \({\mathcal {I}}(S)\) denote the Torelli group of S. For a compact orientable surface \(\Sigma \), \({\mathcal {I}}(\Sigma )\) is generated by two types of mapping classes, called bounding simple closed curve maps (BSCC maps) and bounding pair maps (BP maps) (see Powell in Proc Am Math Soc 68:347–350, 1978; Putman in Geom Topol 11:829–865, 2007). For a non-orientable closed surface N, \({\mathcal {I}}(N)\) is generated by BSCC maps and BP maps (see Hirose and Kobayashi in Fund Math 238:29–51, 2017). In this paper, we give an explicit normal generating set for \({\mathcal {I}}(N_g^b)\), where \(N_g^b\) is a genus-g compact non-orientable surface with b boundary components for \(g\ge 4\) and \(b\ge 1\).  相似文献

In this paper, we first give a classification of the family of 2-geodesic transitive abelian Cayley graphs. Let \(\Gamma \) be such a graph which is not 2-arc transitive. It is shown that one of the following holds: (1) \(\Gamma \cong \mathrm{K}_{m[b]}\) for some \(m\ge 3\) and \(b\ge 2\); (2) \(\Gamma \) is a normal Cayley graph of an elementary abelian group; (3) \(\Gamma \) is a cover of Cayley graph \(\Gamma _K\) of an abelian group T / K, where either \(\Gamma _K\) is complete arc transitive or \(\Gamma _K\) is 2-geodesic transitive of girth 3, and A / K acts primitively on \(V(\Gamma _K)\) of type Affine or Product Action. Second, we completely determine the family of 2-geodesic transitive circulants.  相似文献

The packing chromatic number \(\chi _{\rho }(G)\) of a graph G is the smallest integer k such that the vertex set of G can be partitioned into sets \(V_i\), \(i\in [k]\), where each \(V_i\) is an i-packing. In this paper, we investigate for a given triple (abc) of positive integers whether there exists a graph G such that \(\omega (G) = a\), \(\chi (G) = b\), and \(\chi _{\rho }(G) = c\). If so, we say that (abc) is realizable. It is proved that \(b=c\ge 3\) implies \(a=b\), and that triples \((2,k,k+1)\) and \((2,k,k+2)\) are not realizable as soon as \(k\ge 4\). Some of the obtained results are deduced from the bounds proved on the packing chromatic number of the Mycielskian. Moreover, a formula for the independence number of the Mycielskian is given. A lower bound on \(\chi _{\rho }(G)\) in terms of \(\Delta (G)\) and \(\alpha (G)\) is also proved.  相似文献

We study generalizations of the classical Bernstein operators on the polynomial spaces \(\mathbb {P}_{n}[a,b]\), where instead of fixing \(\mathbf {1}\) and x, we reproduce exactly \(\mathbf {1}\) and a polynomial \(f_1\), strictly increasing on [ab]. We prove that for sufficiently large n, there always exist generalized Bernstein operators fixing \(\mathbf {1}\) and \(f_1\). These operators are defined by non-decreasing sequences of nodes precisely when \(f_1^\prime > 0\) on (ab), but even if \(f_1^\prime \) vanishes somewhere inside (ab), they converge to the identity.  相似文献

We prove Nikol’skii type inequalities that, for polynomials on the n-dimensional torus \(\mathbb {T}^n\), relate the \(L^p\)-norm with the \(L^q\)-norm (with respect to the normalized Lebesgue measure and \(0 <p <q < \infty \)). Among other things, we show that \(C=\sqrt{q/p}\) is the best constant such that \(\Vert P\Vert _{L^q}\le C^{\text {deg}(P)} \Vert P\Vert _{L^p}\) for all homogeneous polynomials P on \(\mathbb {T}^n\). We also prove an exact inequality between the \(L^p\)-norm of a polynomial P on \(\mathbb {T}^n\) and its Mahler measure M(P), which is the geometric mean of |P| with respect to the normalized Lebesgue measure on \(\mathbb {T}^n\). Using extrapolation, we transfer this estimate into a Khintchine–Kahane type inequality, which, for polynomials on \(\mathbb {T}^n\), relates a certain exponential Orlicz norm and Mahler’s measure. Applications are given, including some interpolation estimates.  相似文献

Let \(\varGamma \) be a distance-semiregular graph on Y, and let \(D^Y\) be the diameter of \(\varGamma \) on Y. Let \(\varDelta \) be the halved graph of \(\varGamma \) on Y. Fix \(x \in Y\). Let T and \(T'\) be the Terwilliger algebras of \(\varGamma \) and \(\varDelta \) with respect to x, respectively. Assume, for an integer i with \(1 \le 2i \le D^Y\) and for \(y,z \in \varGamma _{2i}(x)\) with \(\partial _{\varGamma }(y,z)=2\), the numbers \(|\varGamma _{2i-1}(x) \cap \varGamma (y) \cap \varGamma (z)|\) and \(|\varGamma _{2i+1}(x) \cap \varGamma (y) \cap \varGamma (z)|\) depend only on i and do not depend on the choice of y, z. The first goal in this paper is to show the relations between T-modules of \(\varGamma \) and \(T'\)-modules of \(\varDelta \). Assume \(\varGamma \) is the incidence graph of the Hamming graph H(Dn) on the vertex set Y and the set \({\mathcal {C}}\) of all maximal cliques. Then, \(\varGamma \) satisfies above assumption and \(\varDelta \) is isomorphic to H(Dn). The second goal is to determine the irreducible T-modules of \(\varGamma \). For each irreducible T-module W, we give a basis for W the action of the adjacency matrix on this basis and we calculate the multiplicity of W.  相似文献

For a positive integer n, an n-sided polygon lying on a circular arc or, shortly, an n-fan is a sequence of \(n+1\) points on a circle going counterclockwise such that the “total rotation” \(\delta \) from the first point to the last one is at most \(2\pi \). We prove that for \(n\ge 3\), the n-fan cannot be constructed with straightedge and compass in general from its central angle \(\delta \) and its central distances, which are the distances of the edges from the center of the circle. Also, we prove that for each fixed \(\delta \) in the interval \((0, 2\pi ]\) and for every \(n\ge 5\), there exists a concrete n-fan with central angle \(\delta \) that is not constructible from its central distances and \(\delta \). The present paper generalizes some earlier results published by the second author and Á. Kunos on the particular cases \(\delta =2\pi \) and \(\delta =\pi \).  相似文献

If (M,?) is a manifold with a symmetric linear connection, then T*M can be endowed with the natural Riemann extension \(\bar g\) (O. Kowalski and M. Sekizawa (2011), M. Sekizawa (1987)). Here we continue to study the harmonicity with respect to \(\bar g\) initiated by C. L.Bejan and O.Kowalski (2015). More precisely, we first construct a canonical almost para-complex structure \(\mathcal{P}\) on (T*M, \(\bar g\)) and prove that \(\mathcal{P}\) is harmonic (in the sense of E.Garciá-Río, L.Vanhecke and M. E.Vázquez-Abal (1997)) if and only if \(\bar g\) reduces to the classical Riemann extension introduced by E.M. Patterson and A.G. Walker (1952).  相似文献

Let (Mg) be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\ge 6\), \(\xi _0\in M\), and we are concerned with the following Hardy–Sobolev elliptic equations:
$$\begin{aligned} -\Delta _gu+h(x)u=\frac{u^{2^{*}(s)-1-\epsilon }}{d_{g}(x,\xi _0)^s},\ \ \ \ u>0\ \ \mathrm{in} \ \ M, \end{aligned}$$
(0.1)
where \(\Delta _g\,=\,\mathrm{div}_g(\nabla )\) is the Laplace–Beltrami operator on M, h(x) is a \(C^1\) function on M, \(\epsilon \) is a sufficiently small real parameter, \(2^{*}(s):=\frac{2(n-s)}{n-2}\) is the critical Hardy–Sobolev exponent with \(s\in (0,2)\), and \(d_{g}\) is the Riemannian distance on M. Performing the Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction procedure, we obtain the existence of blow-up families of positive solutions of problem (0.1).

Let S be a semigroup, and \(\mathbb {F}\) a field of characteristic \(\ne 2\). If the pair \(f,g:S \rightarrow \mathbb {F}\) is a solution of Wilson’s \(\mu \)-functional equation such that \(f \ne 0\), then g satisfies d’Alembert’s \(\mu \)-functional equation.  相似文献
