Within the scope of a piecewise homogeneous body model, with the use of the three-dimensional linearized theory of propagation of elastic waves in an initially stressed body, the problem on the propagation of axisymmetric waves in an initially twisted circular compound bimaterial cylinder is studied. A mathematical formulation of the problem is presented, and the corresponding solution method is proposed and employed. Numerical results are presented and discussed for the case where the material of the outer cylinder is stiffer than the inner solid one. In particular, it is established that, as a result of initial twisting of the compound cylinder, new axisymmetric wave modes appear in it.  相似文献

This paper studies the influence of the imperfectness of the contact condition on the torsional wave propagation in the initially stressed (stretched) bi-material compounded circular cylinder. The investigation is carried out within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model with the use of the Three-dimensional Linearized Theory of Elastic Waves in Initially Stresses Bodies. The mathematical formulation of the corresponding eigen-value problem is formulated and the solution method for that is developed. The two cases considered are the bi-material compounded cylinder consists of the solid inner and surrounding hollow outer cylinders (Case 1); the bi-material compounded cylinder consists of the hollow inner and surrounding hollow outer cylinders (Case 2). The mechanical relations of the cylinders’ materials are written through the Murnaghan potential. It is proven that the imperfectness of the contact condition does not influence the asymptotic-limit values of the wave propagation velocity. Moreover, the numerical results on the effects of the imperfectness of the boundary condition on the influence of the initial stresses on the wave propagation velocity are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Within the framework of a piecewise homogeneous body model and with the use of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies (TLTEWISB), the propagation of axisymmetric longitudinal waves in a finitely prestrained circular cylinder (fiber) imbedded in a finitely prestrained infinite elastic body (matrix) is investigated. It is assumed that the fiber and matrix materials have the same density and are in compressible. The stress-strain relations for them are given through the Treloar potential. Numerical results regarding the influence of initial strains in the fiber and matrix on wave dispersion are presented and discussed. These results are obtained for the following cases: the fiber and matrix are both without initial strains; only the fiber is prestretched; only the matrix is prestretched; the fiber and matrix are both prestretched simultaneously; the fiber and matrix are both precompressed simultaneously. The propagation of torsional waves in a prestressed compound (bi-layered) hollow circular cylinder is in vestigated within the frame work of a piecewise homogeneous body model, with the use of a three-dimensional linerized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies. The elasticity relations for components of the compound cylinder are obtained from the Murnaghan potential. Numerical investigations are performed for bronze and steel. According to the results obtained, the effect of variations in the geometric (the ratio between the thickness of the cylinder and its inner radius) and mechanical parameters on the dispersion curves are analyzed. In the present paper, the dispersion equation which determines the velocity of torsional surface waves in a homogeneous layer of finite thickness over an initially stressed heterogeneous half-space has been obtained. The dispersion equation obtained is in agreement with the classical result of Love wave when the initial stresses and inhomogeneity parameters are neglected. Numerical results analyzing the dispersion equation are discussed and presented graphically. The result shows that the initial stresses have a pronounced influence on the propagation of torsional surface waves. It has also been shown that the effect of density, directional rigidities and non-homogeneity parameter on the propagation of torsional surface waves is prominent.  相似文献

Within the framework of a piecewise homogeneous body model, with the use of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies, an approach for investigating the Lamb problem for a half-space covered with a layer is developed. It is assumed that the half-space and the cover layer have two-axial initial stresses operating parallel to the layer plane. To the free face of the layer, a normal point force changing harmonically with time is applied. For solving the corresponding boundary value problems, the double-exponential Fourier transformation is employed. An algorithm for obtaining numerical results is proposed, which is examined in particular cases. Numerical results for the influence of prestretching the cover layer on the interfacial stresses are presented.  相似文献

The dynamic response of a system consisting of an initially stressed covering layer and an initially stressed half-plane to a moving time-harmonic load is investigated within the scope of the piecewise-homogeneous body model utilizing three-dimensional linearized wave propagation theory in the initially stressed body. It is assumed that the material of the layer and half-plane is orthotropic. It is also assumed that the velocity of the line-located time harmonic moving load which acts on the covering layer is constant. The investigations were carried out were for the plane-strain state under subsonic velocity of the moving load for two types of contact conditions, namely: complete and incomplete. An algorithm is developed for the determination of the values of the moving load’s critical velocity. For various values of the problem parameters the numerical results were presented and discussed.  相似文献

A half-plane covered with a prestretched layer is considered under the action of a periodic dynamic (harmonic) lineal load applied to the free surface of the layer. Within the framework of a piecewise homegeneous body model, with the use of equations of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies, the problem of stress state is formulated. It is assumed that the materials of the layer and half-plane are linearly elastic, homogeneous, and isotropic, and a plane strain state is considered. The corresponding boundary-value problems are solved analyticaly by employing the exponential Fourier transformations. Numerical results are obtained in the case where the elastic modulus of the half-plane material is greater than that of the layer material. It is established that, because of softening of the layer material, the stresses on the interplane increase mainly in the vicinity of the acting force and this increase has a local character. Moreover, it is established that the prestretching of the cover layer decreases the absolute values of these stresses.  相似文献

The paper presents a study of propagation of shear wave (SH‐wave) in an orthotropic elastic medium under initial stress sandwiched by a homogeneous semi‐infinite medium and an inhomogeneous half‐space. The technique of separation of variables has been adopted to get the analytical solutions for the dispersion relation in a closed form. The propagation of SH‐waves is influenced by inhomogeneity parameters and initial stress parameter. Velocities of SH‐waves are calculated numerically for different cases. As a special case when the intermediate layer and half‐space are homogeneous, computed frequency equation coincides with general equation of Love wave. To study the effect of inhomogeneity parameters and initial stress parameter, we have plotted the velocity of SH‐wave in several figures and observed that the velocity of wave decreases with the increases of non‐dimensional wave number. It can be found that the phase velocity decreases with the increase of inhomogeneity parameters. We observed that the velocity of SH‐wave decreases with the increases of initial stress parameter in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous media. Within the framework of a piecewise homogeneous body model, with the use of the three-dimensional geometrically nonlinear exact equations of the theory of elasticity, the method developed for determining the stress distribution in nanocomposites with unidirectional locally curved covered nanofibers is used to investigate the normal stresses acting along nanofibers. The investigation is carried out for an infinite elastic body containing a single locally curved covered nanofiber in the case where there exists a bond covering cylinder of constant thickness between the nanofiber and the matrix material. It is assumed that the body is loaded at infinity by uniformly distributed normal forces in the fiber direction. Upon formulation and mathematical solution of the boundary value problem, the boundary form perturbation method is used. Numerical results for the stress distribution in the body and the influence of geometrical nonlinearity on this distribution are presented and interpreted.  相似文献

Within the framework of a piecewise homogeneous body model, with the use of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies, the forced vibration of a prestretched two-layer slab resting on a rigid foundation is studied. To the upper plane of the slab, a harmonic point force is applied. It is assumed that the layer materials are incompressible, and their elastic properties are characterized by Treloar’s potential. Numerical results are presented for the case where the material stiffness of the lower layer is greater than that of the upper one. The propagation of infinitesimal surface waves on a half-spaceof incompressible isotropic elastic material subject to a generalpure homogeneous pre-strain is considered. The secular equationfor propagation along a principal axis of the pre-strain isobtained for a general strain-energy function, and conditionswhich ensure stability of the underlying pre-strain are derived.The influence of the pre-stress on the existence of surfacewaves is examined and, in particular, it is found that, undera certain range of hydrostatic pre-stress, a unique wavespeedexists and is bounded above by a limiting speed which correspondsto the shear wave speed in an infinite body. The secular equationis analysed in detail for particular deformations and, for anumber of specific forms of strain-energy function, numericalresults are used to illustrate the dependence of the wave speedon the pre-strain. Particular attention is focused on pre-strainscorresponding to loss of stability, in which case the infinitesimalstrain is time-independent (the wave speed being zero). Thetheory described here encompasses previous work on surface wavesand instabilities in incompressible isotropic elastic materialsand provides a clear delimitation of the range of deformationsfor which surface waves exist.  相似文献

An exact solution of the problem of the propagation of torsional waves in semiinfinite and finite circular cylinders is obtained within the framework of the linear theory of viscoelasticity. Concrete examples are discussed, and estimates are given for the stresses near the wave front. All the solutions are obtained in series; it is shown that these series converge absolutely for any finite time.  相似文献

We consider the diffraction of impulsive SV waves by a fluid circular cylinder. The cylinder is embedded in an unbounded isotropic homogeneous elastic medium and it is filled with some acoustic fluid. The line source, generating the incident pulse, is situated outside the cylinder parallel to its axis. We investigate the problem by the method of dual integral transformation as developed by Friedlander. The resulting integrals are evaluated approximately to obtain the short-time estimate of the motion near the wave front in the shadow zone of the elastic medium. We also interpret the approximate solution in terms of Keller’s geometrical theory of diffraction.  相似文献

The effect of pre-stress on the propagation and reflection ofplane waves in an incompressible isotropic elastic half-spacehas been examined recently by the authors (Ogden & Sotiropoulos,1997). In the present paper the corresponding analysis for compressiblematerials is detailed. In the two-dimensional context consideredfor incompressible materials the (homogeneous) plane waves werenecessarily shear waves. By contrast, in the compressible contextpure shear waves can propagate only in specific directions inthe considered principal plane and, in a general direction,a quasi-shear wave may be accompanied by a quasi-longitudinalwave, as is the case in the anisotropic linear theory. The dependenceof the (in-plane) slowness section on the pre-stress (and finitedeformation) and on the choice of constitutive law is elucidated.This information is used to determine the reflection coefficientsfor reflection of either a (quasi-) shear wave or a (quasi-)longitudinal wave from the boundary of the half-space and tocharacterize the different cases which arise depending on thegeometry of the slowness section. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical calculationsfor the range of possible types of behaviour with referenceforms of strain-energy function and different states of finitedeformation and to the question of stability of the half-space.  相似文献

Wave propagation along a plane boundary separating compressible, previously deformed bodies with elastic potential of arbitrary form, is studied. The linearized theory of wave propagation in bodies with finite initial deformation is used. A case in which one of the bodies is a liquid, is studied. It is shown that in the case of the Murnaghan and harmonic type potentials the wave velocities depend linearly on the initial stresses. In contrast with the case of an unbounded isotropic body /1/, here the character of the dependence is not influenced by the choice of the form of the potential. In the absence of the initial stresses the relations obtained coincide with the results of /2/.  相似文献
