The second largest Laplacian eigenvalue of a graph is the second largest eigenvalue of the associated Laplacian matrix. In this paper, we study extremal graphs for the extremal values of the second largest Laplacian eigenvalue and the Laplacian separator of a connected graph, respectively. All simple connected graphs with second largest Laplacian eigenvalue at most 3 are characterized. It is also shown that graphs with second largest Laplacian eigenvalue at most 3 are determined by their Laplacian spectrum. Moreover, the graphs with maximum and the second maximum Laplacian separators among all connected graphs are determined.  相似文献

Let M be an associated matrix of a graph G (the adjacency, Laplacian and signless Laplacian matrix). Two graphs are said to be cospectral with respect to M if they have the same M spectrum. A graph is said to be determined by M spectrum if there is no other non-isomorphic graph with the same spectrum with respect to M. It is shown that T-shape trees are determined by their Laplacian spectra. Moreover among them those are determined by their adjacency spectra are characterized. In this paper, we identify graphs which are cospectral to a given T-shape tree with respect to the signless Laplacian matrix. Subsequently, T-shape trees which are determined by their signless Laplacian spectra are identified.  相似文献

A graph is said to be determined by the adjacency and Laplacian spectrum (or to be a DS graph, for short) if there is no other non-isomorphic graph with the same adjacency and Laplacian spectrum, respectively. It is known that connected graphs of index less than 2 are determined by their adjacency spectrum. In this paper, we focus on the problem of characterization of DS graphs of index less than 2. First, we give various infinite families of cospectral graphs with respect to the adjacency matrix. Subsequently, the results will be used to characterize all DS graphs (with respect to the adjacency matrix) of index less than 2 with no path as a component. Moreover, we show that most of these graphs are DS with respect to the Laplacian matrix.  相似文献

The spectrum of weighted graphs is often used to solve the problems in the design of networks and electronic circuits. We first give some perturbational results on the (signless) Laplacian spectral radius of weighted graphs when some weights of edges are modified; we then determine the weighted tree with the largest Laplacian spectral radius in the set of all weighted trees with a fixed number of pendant vertices and a positive weight set. Furthermore, we also derive the weighted trees with the largest Laplacian spectral radius in the set of all weighted trees with a fixed positive weight set and independence number, matching number or total independence number.  相似文献

A unicyclic graph is a graph whose number of edges is equal to the number of vertices. Guo Shu-Guang [S.G. Guo, The largest Laplacian spectral radius of unicyclic graph, Appl. Math. J. Chinese Univ. Ser. A. 16 (2) (2001) 131–135] determined the first four largest Laplacian spectral radii together with the corresponding graphs among all unicyclic graphs on n vertices. The signless Laplacian spread of a graph is defined to be the difference between the largest eigenvalue and the smallest eigenvalue of its signless Laplacian matrix. In this paper, we determine the first to llth largest signless Laplacian spectral radii in the class of bicyclic graphs with n vertices. Moreover, the unique bicyclic graph with the largest or the second largest signless Laplacian spread among the class of connected bicyclic graphs of order n is determined, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider how the normalized Laplacian spectral radius of a non-bipartite graph behaves by several graph operations. In [E.R. van Dam, W.H. Haemers, Which graphs are determined by their spectrum? Linear Algebra Appl. 373 (2003), 241-272] we gave a survey of answers to the question of which graphs are determined by the spectrum of some matrix associated to the graph. In particular, the usual adjacency matrix and the Laplacian matrix were addressed. Furthermore, we formulated some research questions on the topic. The Laplacian spectrum of a graph is the eigenvalues of the associated Laplacian matrix. The quotient between the largest and second smallest Laplacian eigenvalues of a connected graph, is called the Laplacian spectral ratio. Some bounds on the Laplacian spectral ratio are considered. We improve a relation on the Laplacian spectral ratio of regular graphs. Especially, the first two smallest Laplacian spectral ratios of graphs with given order are determined. The Laplacian spread of a graph is defined to be the difference between the largest eigenvalue and the second smallest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix of the graph. In our recent work, we have determined the graphs with maximal Laplacian spreads among all trees of fixed order and among all unicyclic graphs of fixed order, respectively. In this paper, we continue the work on Laplacian spread of graphs, and prove that there exist exactly two bicyclic graphs with maximal Laplacian spread among all bicyclic graphs of fixed order, which are obtained from a star by adding two incident edges and by adding two nonincident edges between the pendant vertices of the star, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we characterize all extremal connected bicyclic graphs with the largest signless Laplacian spectral radius in the set of all connected bicyclic graphs with prescribed degree sequences. Moreover, the signless Laplacian majorization theorem is proved to be true for connected bicyclic graphs. As corollaries, all extremal connected bicyclic graphs having the largest signless Laplacian spectral radius are obtained in the set of all connected bicyclic graphs of order n (resp. all connected bicyclic graphs with a specified number of pendant vertices, and all connected bicyclic graphs with given maximum degree).  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the properties of the largest signless Laplacian spectral radius in the set of all simple connected graphs with a given degree sequence. These results are used to characterize the unicyclic graphs that have the largest signless Laplacian spectral radius for a given unicyclic graphic degree sequence. Graph disaggregation is a technique used to address the high cost of computation for power law graphs on parallel processors. The few high-degree vertices are broken into multiple small-degree vertices, in order to allow for more efficient computation in parallel. In particular, we consider computations involving the graph Laplacian, which has significant applications, including diffusion mapping and graph partitioning, among others. We prove results regarding the spectral approximation of the Laplacian of the original graph by the Laplacian of the disaggregated graph. In addition, we construct an alternate disaggregation operator whose eigenvalues interlace those of the original Laplacian. Using this alternate operator, we construct a uniform preconditioner for the original graph Laplacian.  相似文献
