By a famous result of Douglas, Shapiro, and Shields, functions in backward shift invariant subspaces in Hardy spaces are characterized by the fact that they admit a pseudocontinuation outside the closed unit disk. More can be said when the spectrum of the associated inner function has holes on \mathbb T{{\mathbb T}}. Then the functions of the invariant subspaces even extend analytically through these holes. Here we will be interested in weighted backward shift invariant subspaces which appear naturally in the context of kernels of Toeplitz operators. Note that such kernels are special cases of so-called nearly invariant subspaces. In our setting a result by Aleksandrov allows to deduce analytic continuation properties which we will then apply to consider embeddings of weighted invariant subspaces into their unweighted companions. We hope that this connection might shed some new light on known results. We will also establish a link between the spectrum of the inner function and the approximate point spectrum of the backward shift in the weighted situation in the spirit of results by Aleman, Richter, and Ross.  相似文献

Summary. In recent years, much insight into the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations by one-step methods has been obtained with a backward error analysis. It allows one to explain interesting phenomena such as the almost conservation of energy, the linear error growth in Hamiltonian systems, and the existence of periodic solutions and invariant tori. In the present article, the formal backward error analysis as well as rigorous, exponentially small error estimates are extended to multistep methods. A further extension to partitioned multistep methods is outlined, and numerical illustrations of the theoretical results are presented. The paper considers small periodic regular and singular perturbations of a system, whose conservative part is an oscillator with cubic restoring force. The smallness of perturbations is due to both the smallness of the neighborhood of equilibrium and the presence of a small parameter. In the absence of a small parameter, we obtain conditions for Lyapunov stability of the equilibrium position. If a small parameter is present, we derive (both for regular and singular perturbations) an equation whose positive roots are in correspondence with invariant two-dimensional tori of the perturbed system.  相似文献

The core problem of dynamical systems is to study the asymptotic behaviors of orbits and their topological structures. It is well known that the orbits with certain recurrence and generating ergodic (or invariant) measures are important, such orbits form a full measure set for all invariant measures of the system, its closure is called the measure center of the system. To investigate this set, Zhou introduced the notions of weakly almost periodic point and quasi-weakly almost periodic point in 1990s, and presented some open problems on complexity of discrete dynamical systems in 2004. One of the open problems is as follows: for a quasi-weakly almost periodic point but not weakly almost periodic, is there an invariant measure generated by its orbit such that the support of this measure is equal to its minimal center of attraction (a closed invariant set which attracts its orbit statistically for every point and has no proper subset with this property)? Up to now, the problem remains open. In this paper, we construct two points in the one-sided shift system of two symbols, each of them generates a sub-shift system. One gives a positive answer to the question above, the other answers in the negative. Thus we solve the open problem completely. More important, the two examples show that a proper quasi-weakly almost periodic orbit behaves very differently with weakly almost periodic orbit.  相似文献

A general approach based on polyphase splines, with analysis in the frequency domain, is developed for studying wavelet frames of periodic functions of one or higher dimensions. Characterizations of frames for shift-invariant subspaces of periodic functions and results on the structure of these subspaces are obtained. Starting from any multiresolution analysis, a constructive proof is provided for the existence of a normalized tight wavelet frame. The construction gives the minimum number of wavelets required. As an illustration of the approach developed, the one-dimensional dyadic case is further discussed in detail, concluding with a concrete example of trigonometric polynomial wavelet frames.  相似文献

It is known that regular factorizations of the characteristic function of an operator describe its invariant subspaces. The case of a scalar characteristic function is considered. Some examples are given. The factorizations describing all chains of invariant subspaces containing a given subspace L are constructed by the factorization describing L. A representation of the regular factorization of a function is obtained in terms of factorizations of its inner and outer parts. Bibliography: 9 titles.  相似文献

This paper proposes the Rice condition numbers for invariant subspace, singular sub-spaces of a matrix and deflating subspaces of a regular matrix pair. The first-order perturbation estimations for these subspaces are derived by applying perturbation expansions of orthogonal projection operators.  相似文献

In 1996 P. Enflo introduced the concept of extremal vectors and their connection to the Invariant Subspace Problem. The study of backward minimal vectors gives a new method of finding invariant subspaces which is more constructive than the previously known methods. In this article we study the properties and behaviour of extremal vectors, give some new formulas related to backward minimal vectors and improve results from papers by Ansari and Enflo (1998) and Enflo (1998).

The method of Padé matrix iteration is commonly used for computing matrix sign function and invariant subspaces of a real or complex matrix. In this paper, a detailed rounding error analysis is given for two classical schemes of the Pad’e matrix iteration, using basic matrix floating point arithmetics. Error estimations of computing invariant subspaces by the Padé sign iteration are also provided. Numerical experiments are given to show the numerical behaviors of the Padé iterations and the corresponding subspace computation.   相似文献

It is well known that subspaces of the Hardy space over the unit disk which are invariant under the backward shift occur as the image of an observability operator associated with a discrete-time linear system with stable state-dynamics, as well as the functional-model space for a Hilbert space contraction operator, while forward shift-invariant subspaces have a representation in terms of an inner function. We discuss several variants of these statements in the context of weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk.  相似文献

General multivariate periodic wavelets are an efficient tool for the approximation of multidimensional functions, which feature dominant directions of the periodicity.One-dimensional shift invariant spaces and tensor-product wavelets are generalized to multivariate shift invariant spaces on non-tensor-product patterns. In particular, the algebraic properties of the automorphism group are investigated. Possible patterns are classified. By divisibility considerations, decompositions of shift invariant spaces are given. The results are applied to construct multivariate orthogonal Dirichlet kernels and the respective wavelets. Furthermore a closure theorem is proven.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a type of delayed resonant differential equations. We focus on the existence of periodic solutions. Employing the Clark dual, we provide two sets of criteria on the existence of at least one periodic solution. In fact, the periodic solutions are critical points minimizing the dual functional of the coupled Hamiltonian system on certain subspaces of a Banach space.  相似文献

Some new techniques for reduced order (macro) modeling of nonlinear systems with time periodic coefficients are discussed in this paper. The dynamical evolution equations are transformed using the Lyapunov–Floquet (L–F) transformation such that the linear parts of the new set of equations become time-invariant. The techniques presented here reduce the order of this transformed system and all original states are obtained via the appropriate transformations. This macromodel preserves the desired stability and bifurcation characteristics of the original large-scale system and due to relatively few states; it is suitable for simulation and controller design. In this work, methodologies based on linear and nonlinear projections as well as ‘time periodic invariant manifold’ idea are presented. The invariant manifold technique yields a ‘reducibility condition’ that determines when an accurate nonlinear order reduction is possible. A comparative study of these order reduction methods is also included. These techniques are compared by means of time traces and Poincaré maps. A numerical error analysis is also included and advantages and limitations are discussed by means of a practical example.  相似文献

We extend the Rayleigh-Ritz method to the eigen-problem of periodic matrix pairs. Assuming that the deviations of the desired periodic eigenvectors from the corresponding periodic subspaces tend to zero, we show that there exist periodic Ritz values that converge to the desired periodic eigenvalues unconditionally, yet the periodic Ritz vectors may fail to converge. To overcome this potential problem, we minimize residuals formed with periodic Ritz values to produce the refined periodic Ritz vectors, which converge under the same assumption. These results generalize the corresponding well-known ones for Rayleigh-Ritz approximations and their refinement for non-periodic eigen-problems. In addition, we consider a periodic Arnoldi process which is particularly efficient when coupled with the Rayleigh-Ritz method with refinement. The numerical results illustrate that the refinement procedure produces excellent approximations to the original periodic eigenvectors.  相似文献

This is the first part of a paper that deals with error estimates for the Rayleigh-Ritz approximations to the spectrum and invariant subspaces of a bounded Hermitian operator in a Hilbert or Euclidean space. This part addresses estimates for the angles between the invariant subspaces and their approximations via the corresponding best approximation errors and residuals and, for invariant subspaces corresponding to parts of the discrete spectrum, via eigenvalue errors. The paper’s major concern is to ensure that the estimates in question are accurate and ‘cluster robust’, i.e. are not adversely affected by the presence of clustered, i.e. closely situated eigenvalues in the spectrum. Available estimates of such kind are reviewed and new estimates are derived. The paper’s main new results introduce estimates for invariant subspaces in which the operator may have clustered eigenvalues whereby not only the distances between eigenvalues in the cluster are not present but also the distances between the cluster and the rest of the spectrum appear in asymptotically insignificant terms only.  相似文献

We consider the Hamming space of periodic (0, 1)-sequences and a continual family of its subspaces defined as direct limits of finite Hamming spaces. These subspaces form a complete lattice under inclusion which is isomorphic to the lattice of supernatural numbers. We explicitly describe the isometry groups of these spaces. This involves certain constructions similar to the hyperoctahedral groups but accounting for additional structures on the underlying sets.  相似文献

In my earlier paper [4], an eigen-decompositions of the Laplacian operator is given on a unit regular hexagon with periodic boundary conditions. Since an exact decomposition with Dirichlet boundary conditions has not been explored in terms of any elementary form.In this paper, we investigate an approximate eigen-decomposition. The function space, corresponding all eigenfunction, have been decomposed into four orthogonal subspaces.Estimations of the first eight smallest eigenvalues and related orthogonal functions are given. In particulary we obtain an approximate value of the smallest eigenvalue λ1~29/40π^2= 7.1555, the absolute error is less than 0.0001.  相似文献
