We establish an existence theorem for transonic isentropic potential flows where the subsonic region is bounded by the sonic line and thus the governing equation may become degenerate on the boundary partly or entirely. It has been conjectured by experiments and numerical studies that the self-similar multidimensional flow changes its type, namely, hyperbolic far from the origin (supersonic region) and elliptic near the origin (subsonic region). Furthermore, the potential equation has a different nonlinearity compared to other transonic problems such as the unsteady transonic small disturbance equation, the nonlinear wave equation, and the pressure gradient equation. Namely, the coefficients of the potential equation depend on the gradients while others are independent of the gradients. We provide techniques to handle the gradients, establish interior and boundary gradient estimates for the potential flow in a convex region, and answer the conjecture, that is, the flow is strictly elliptic and the region is subsonic.  相似文献

Nonlinear stability of nonlinear periodic solutions of the regularized Benjamin-Ono equation and the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation with respect to perturbations of the same wavelength is analytically studied. These perturbations are shown to be stable. We also develop a global well-posedness theory for the regularized Benjamin-Ono equation in the periodic and in the line setting. In particular, we show that the Cauchy problem (in both periodic and nonperiodic case) cannot be solved by an iteration scheme based on the Duhamel formula for negative Sobolev indices.  相似文献

We present a blow-up criterion for the periodic Camassa-Holm equation. The condition obtained for blow-up uses two of the conservation laws associated with the equation and improves upon some recent results.Received: 18 June 2004  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem of a weakly dissipative μ-Hunter–Saxton equation. We first establish the local well-posedness for the weakly dissipative μ-Hunter–Saxton equation by Kato's semigroup theory. Then, we derive the precise blow-up scenario for strong solutions to the equation. Moreover, we present some blow-up results for strong solutions to the equation. Finally, we give two global existence results to the equation.  相似文献

We study the global existence and asymptotic behavior in time of solutions to the Korteweg-de Vries type equation called as “Hirota” equation. This equation is a mixture of cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation and modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. We show the unique existence of the solution for this equation which tends to the given “modified” free profile by using the two asymptotic formulae for some oscillatory integrals.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear self-adjointness of a general class of quasilinear 2D second order evolution equations which do not possess variational structure. For this purpose, we use the method of Ibragimov, devised and developed recently. This approach enables one to establish the conservation laws for any differential equation. We first obtain conditions determining the self-adjoint sub-class in the general case. Then, we establish the conservation laws for important particular cases: the Ricci Flow equation, the modified Ricci Flow equation and the nonlinear heat equation.  相似文献

The problem of finding a local minimum of a real differentiable function is considered from a homotopic point of view. Using a Davidenko embedding method with a particular homotopy, an ordinary differential equation is derived. Solution of this equation by Euler's rule gives rise to an iteration formula for the optimization problem. Convergence and termination properties of this formula are discussed.  相似文献

The singularity manifold equation of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, the so-called Krichever-Novikov equation, has an exact linearization to an overdetermined system of partial differential equations in three independent variables. We study in detail the Cauchy problem for this system as an example for the use of the formal theory of differential equations. A general existence and uniqueness theorem is established. Formal theory is then contrasted with Janet-Riquier theory in the formulation of Reid. Finally, the implications of the results for the Krichever-Novikov equation are outlined.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear heat equation with nonlocal reaction term in space , in smoothly bounded domains. We prove the existence of a universal bound for all nonnegative global solutions of this equation. Moreover, in contrast with similar recent results for equations with local reaction terms, this is shown to hold for all p>1. As an interesting by-product of our proof, we derive for this equation a smoothing effect under weaker assumptions than for corresponding problem with local reaction.  相似文献

For Riemann data consisting of a single decreasing jump, we find that the Leray regularization captures the correct shock solution of the inviscid Burgers equation. However, for Riemann data consisting of a single increasing jump, the Leray regularization captures an unphysical shock. This behavior can be remedied by considering the behavior of the Leray regularization with initial data consisting of an arbitrary mollification of the Riemann data. As we show, for this case, the Leray regularization captures the correct rarefaction solution of the inviscid Burgers equation. Additionally, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Leray-regularized equation for a large class of discontinuous initial data. All of our results make extensive use of a reformulation of the Leray-regularized equation in the Lagrangian reference frame. The results indicate that the regularization works by bending the characteristics of the inviscid Burgers equation and thereby preventing their finite-time crossing.  相似文献

We are concerned with the uniqueness result of positive solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic equation arising from plasma physics. We convert a quasilinear elliptic equation into a semilinear one and show the unique existence of positive radial solution for original equation under the suitable conditions on the power of nonlinearity and quasilinearity. We also investigate the non-degeneracy of a positive radial solution for a converted semilinear elliptic equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the orbital stability of the peakons for the Degasperis-Procesi equation with a strong dispersive term on the line. Using the method in [Z. Lin, Y. Liu, Stability of peakons for the Degasperis-Procesi equation, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 62 (2009) 125-146], we prove that the shapes of these peakons are stable under small perturbations. Some previous results are extended.  相似文献

The auxiliary differential equation technique is employed to investigate a generalized mKdV equation with variable coefficients. The Jacobi elliptic function wave-like solutions of the equation are expressed under several circumstances. The degenerated soliton-like and trigonometric function solutions are discussed in detail as the modulus of the Jacobi elliptic wave-like solutions tends to 1 and 0, respectively.  相似文献

Our aim in this article is to study the existence and regularity of solutions of a quasilinear elliptic-hyperbolic equation. This equation appears in the design of blade cascade profiles. This leads to an inverse problem for designing two-dimensional channels with prescribed velocity distributions along channel walls. The governing equation is obtained by transformation of the physical domain to the plane defined by the streamlines and the potential lines of fluid. We establish an existence and regularity result of solutions for a more general framework which includes our physical problem as a specific example.  相似文献

The long-time behavior of an integro-differential parabolic equation of diffusion type with memory terms, expressed by convolution integrals involving infinite delays and by a forcing term with bounded delay, is investigated in this paper. The assumptions imposed on the coefficients are weak in the sense that uniqueness of solutions of the corresponding initial value problems cannot be guaranteed. Then, it is proved that the model generates a multivalued non-autonomous dynamical system which possesses a pullback attractor. First, the analysis is carried out with an abstract parabolic equation. Then, the theory is applied to the particular integro-differential equation which is the objective of this paper. The general results obtained in the paper are also valid for other types of parabolic equations with memory.  相似文献

This work studies the large time behavior of free boundary and continuous dependence on nonlinearity for the Cauchy problem of a degenerate parabolic partial differential equation with absorption. Our objective is to give an explicit expression of speed of propagation of the solution and to show that the solution depends on the nonlinearity of the equation continuously.  相似文献

We study the inverse scattering problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and for the nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation with the generalized Hartree type nonlinearity. We reconstruct the nonlinearity from knowledge of the scattering operator, which improves the known results.  相似文献

There are lots of results on the solutions of the heat equation but much less on those of the Hermite heat equation due to that its coefficients are not constant and even not bounded. In this paper, we find an explicit relation between the solutions of these two equations, thus all known results on the heat equation can be transferred to results on the Hermite heat equation, which should be a completely new idea to study the Hermite equation. Some examples are given to show that known results on the Hermite equation are obtained easily by this method, even improved. There is also a new uniqueness theorem with a very general condition for the Hermite equation, which answers a question in a paper in Proc. Japan Acad. (2005). In this paper, we consider a damped Klein-Gordon equation in a noncylindrical domain. This work is devoted to proving the existence of global solutions and decay for the energy of solutions for a damped Klein-Gordon equation in a noncylindrical domain.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to proving some asymptotic regularity, for both reaction-diffusion equation with a polynomially growing nonlinearity of arbitrary order and strongly damped wave equation with critical nonlinearity, which excel the sharp regularity allowed by the corresponding stationary equations (equilibrium points). Based on this regularity, the existence of the finite-dimensional global and exponential attractors can be obtained easily.  相似文献
