Two nonconforming penalty methods for the two-dimensional stationary Navier-Stokes equations are studied in this paper. These methods are based on the weakly continuous $P_1$ vector fields and the locally divergence-free (LDF) finite elements, which respectively penalize local divergence and are discontinuous across edges. These methods have no penalty factors and avoid solving the saddle-point problems. The existence and uniqueness of the velocity solution are proved, and the optimal error estimates of the energy norms and $L^2$-norms are obtained. Moreover, we propose unified pressure recovery algorithms and prove the optimal error estimates of $L^2$-norm for pressure. We design a unified iterative method for numerical experiments to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this article, an $H^1$-Galerkin mixed finite element (MFE) method for solving the time fractional water wave model is presented. First-order backward Euler difference method and $L1$ formula are applied to approximate integer derivative and Caputo fractional derivative with order $1/2$, respectively, and $H^1$-Galerkin mixed finite element method is used to approximate the spatial direction. The analysis of stability for fully discrete mixed finite element scheme is made and the optimal space-time orders of convergence for two unknown variables in both $H^1$-norm and $L^2$-norm are derived. Further, some computing results for a priori analysis and numerical figures based on four changed parameters in the studied problem are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the current method  相似文献

A low order nonconforming mixed finite element method (FEM) is established for the fully coupled non-stationary incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) problem in a bounded domain in 3D. The lowest order finite elements on tetrahedra or hexahedra are chosen to approximate the pressure, the velocity field and the magnetic field, in which the hydrodynamic unknowns are approximated by inf-sup stable finite element pairs and the magnetic field by $H^1(\Omega)$-conforming finite elements, respectively. The existence and uniqueness of the approximate solutions are shown. Optimal order error estimates of $L^2(H^1)$-norm for the velocity field, $L^2(L^2)$-norm for the pressure and the broken $L^2(H^1)$-norm for the magnetic field are derived.  相似文献

1引 言 对于各向同性,均匀介质的平面线弹性问题,当Lamé常数λ→∞(泊松率v→0.5)时,即对于几乎不可压介质,通常的协调有限元格式的解往往不再收敛到原问题的解,或者达不到最优收敛阶,这就是所谓的闭锁现象(见[3],[7],[8]及[10]).究其原因,在通常的有限元分析中,其误差估计的系数与λ有关,当λ→∞时,该系数将趋于无穷大.因此为克服闭锁现象就需要构造特殊的有限元格式,使得当λ→∞时,有限元逼近解仍然收敛到原问题的解.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the superconvergence of mixed finite element methods for a semilinear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and costate are approximated by the order $k=1$ Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Approximation of the optimal control of the continuous optimal control problem will be constructed by a projection of the discrete adjoint state. It is proved that this approximation has convergence order $h^{2}$ in $L^{\infty}$-norm. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

A numerical scheme for the Reissner-Mindlin plate model is proposed.The method is based on a discrete Helmholtz decomposition and can be viewed as a generalization of the nonconforming finite element scheme of Arnold and Falk[SIAM J.Numer.Anal.,26(6):1276-1290,1989].The two unknowns in the discrete formulation are the in-plane rotations and the gradient of the vertical displacement.The decomposition of the discrete shear variable leads to equivalence with the usual Stokes system with penalty term plus two Poisson equations and the proposed method is equivalent to a stabilized discretization of the Stokes system that generalizes the Mini element.The method is proved to satisfy a best-approximation result which is robust with respect to the thickness parameter t.  相似文献

We propose and analyze a $C^0$-weak Galerkin (WG) finite element method for the numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations governing 2D stationary incompressible flows. Using a stream-function formulation, the system of Navier-Stokes equations is reduced to a single fourth-order nonlinear partial differential equation and the incompressibility constraint is automatically satisfied. The proposed method uses continuous piecewise-polynomial approximations of degree $k+2$ for the stream-function $\psi$ and discontinuous piecewise-polynomial approximations of degree $k+1$ for the trace of $\nabla\psi$ on the interelement boundaries. The existence of a discrete solution is proved by means of a topological degree argument, while the uniqueness is obtained under a data smallness condition. An optimal error estimate is obtained in $L^2$-norm, $H^1$-norm and broken $H^2$-norm. Numerical tests are presented to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The mathematical model for semiconductor devices in three space dimensions are numerically discretized. The system consists of three quasi-linear partial differential equations about three physical variables: the electrostatic potential, the electron concentration and the hole concentration. We use standard mixed finite element method to approximate the elliptic electrostatic potential equation. For the two convection-dominated concentration equations, a characteristics-mixed finite element method is presented. The scheme is locally conservative. The optimal $L^2$-norm error estimates are derived by the aid of a post-processing step. Finally, numerical experiments are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the quadrilateral finite element approximation to the two-dimensional linear elasticity problem associated with a homogeneous isotropic elastic material. The optimal convergence of the finite element method is proved for both the $L^2$-norm and energy-norm, and in particular, the convergence is uniform with respect to the Laméconstant $\lambda$. Also the performance of the scheme does not deteriorate as the material becomes nearly incompressible. Numerical experiments are given which are consistent with our theory.  相似文献

In this paper, a constrained distributed optimal control problem governed by a first-order elliptic system is considered. Least-squares mixed finite element methods, which are not subject to the Ladyzhenkaya-Babuska-Brezzi consistency condition, are used for solving the elliptic system with two unknown state variables. By adopting the Lagrange multiplier approach, continuous and discrete optimality systems including a primal state equation, an adjoint state equation, and a variational inequality for the optimal control are derived, respectively. Both the discrete state equation and discrete adjoint state equation yield a symmetric and positive definite linear algebraic system. Thus, the popular solvers such as preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) and algebraic multi-grid (AMG) can be used for rapid solution. Optimal a priori error estimates are obtained, respectively, for the control function in $L^2(Ω)$-norm, for the original state and adjoint state in $H^1(Ω)$-norm, and for the flux state and adjoint flux state in $H$(div; $Ω$)-norm. Finally, we use one numerical example to validate the theoretical findings.  相似文献

This article considers a mixed finite element method for linear elasticity. It is based on a modified mixed formulation that enforces the continuity of the stress weakly by adding a jump term of the approximated stress on interior edges. The symmetric stress are approximated by nonconforming linear elements and the displacement by piecewise constants. A least‐squares mixed finite element method for linear elasticity, based on a stress‐displacement formulation, is investigated in terms of computational efficiency. For the stress approximation quadratic Raviart‐Thomas elements are used and these are coupled with the quadratic nonconforming finite element spaces of Fortin and Soulie for approximating the displacement. The local evaluation of the least‐squares functional serves as an a posteriori error estimator to be used in an adaptive refinement algorithm. We present computational results for a benchmark test problem of planar elasticity including nearly incompressible material parameters in order to verify the effectiveness of our adaptive strategy. For comparison, conforming quadratic finite elements are also used for the displacement approximation showing convergence orders similar to the nonconforming case, which are, however, not independent of the Lamé parameters. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduce a low order finite element method for three dimensional elasticity problems. We extend Kouhia-Stenberg element [12] by using two nonconforming components and one conforming component, adding stabilizing terms to the associated bilinear form to ensure the discrete Korn's inequality. Using the second Strang's lemma, we show that our scheme has optimal convergence rates in $L^2$ and piecewise $H^1$-norms even when Poisson ratio $\nu$ approaches $1/2$. Even though some efforts have been made to design a low order method for three dimensional problems in [11,16], their method uses some higher degree basis functions. Our scheme is the first true low order method. We provide three numerical examples which support our analysis. We compute two examples having analytic solutions. We observe the optimal $L^2$ and $H^1$ errors for many different choices of Poisson ratios including the nearly incompressible cases. In the last example, we simulate the driven cavity problem. Our scheme shows non-locking phenomena for the driven cavity problems also.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a two-grid method (TGM) based on the FEM for 2D nonlinear time fractional two-term mixed sub-diffusion and diffusion wave equations. A two-grid algorithm is proposed for solving the nonlinear system, which consists of two steps: a nonlinear FE system is solved on a coarse grid, then the linearized FE system is solved on the fine grid by Newton iteration based on the coarse solution. The fully discrete numerical approximation is analyzed, where the Galerkin finite element method for the space derivatives and the finite difference scheme for the time Caputo derivative with order $\alpha\in(1,2)$ and $\alpha_{1}\in(0,1)$. Numerical stability and optimal error estimate $O(h^{r+1}+H^{2r+2}+\tau^{\min\{3-\alpha,2-\alpha_{1}\}})$ in $L^{2}$-norm are presented for two-grid scheme, where $t,$ $H$ and $h$ are the time step size, coarse grid mesh size and fine grid mesh size, respectively. Finally, numerical experiments are provided to confirm our theoretical results and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献
