Orthogonal subsets of classical root systems and coadjoint orbits of unipotent groups

We consider a specific class of coadjoint orbits of maximal unipotent subgroups in classical groups over a finite field; namely, orbits associated with orthogonal subsets in root systems. We derive a formula for the dimension of these orbits in terms of the Weyl group and construct polarizations for canonical forms on the orbits. As a consequence, we describe all possible dimensions of irreducible representations of such unipotent groups.     

Applications of the wall form to unipotent isometries of index two

We investigate the Wall form of unipotent elements of index two in the orthogonal group and obtain a decomposition for these elements. Also, in characteristic two, the relation between the Wall form and some invariants of the induced involution on the Clifford algebra is studied.

Exponential epigroups

We show that an exponential epigroup is a band of unipotent exponential epigroups (in which the set of idempotents forms a subsemigroup). Also, we investigate the structure of unipotent exponential epigroups. In addition, a characterization of the least normal band of groups congruence is given for an arbitrary medial epigroup. It is also shown that k-exponential eventually regular semigroups are necessarily epigroups.

Cluster algebras in algebraic lie theory

We survey some recent constructions of cluster algebra structures on coordinate rings of unipotent subgroups and unipotent cells of Kac–Moody groups. We also review a quantized version of these results.

引入整数因子伸缩的向量值正交小波与向量值小波包的概念.运用仿酉向量滤波器理论和矩阵理论,给出具有整数因子伸缩的向量值正交小波存在的充要条件.提供了紧支撑向量值正交的构建算法,给出了相应的构建算例.利用时频分析方法与算子理论,刻画了一类向量值正交小波包的性质,得到了整数伸缩的向量值小波包的正交公式.

本文引入多重向量值小波包的概念,提供一类多重向量值正交小波包的构造方法,并运用积分变换和算子理论,讨论了多重向量值正交小波包的性质．利用多重向量值正交小波包,构造了空间L2(R,Cs×s)的新的正交基．     

A study on compactly supported orthogonal vector-valued wavelets and wavelet packets

In this paper, vector-valued multiresolution analysis and orthogonal vector-valued wavelets are introduced. The definition for orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets is proposed. A necessary and sufficient condition on the existence of orthogonal vector-valued wavelets is derived by means of paraunitary vector filter bank theory. An algorithm for constructing a class of compactly supported orthogonal vector-valued wavelets is presented. The properties of the vector-valued wavelet packets are investigated by using operator theory and algebra theory. In particular, it is shown how to construct various orthonormal bases of L²(R, C^s) from the orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets.

具有幂单正交侣的幂等拟群称为可分解的. 具有幂等正交侣的幂等拟群称为几乎可分解的. 若v 元集合上的所有分量互不相同的3-向量能够分拆成互不相交(幂等3-向量除外) 的v-2 个v 阶幂等拟群, 则称之为v 阶幂等拟群大集. 本文使用t-平衡设计(t=2; 3) 的方法给出了可分解幂等拟群大集、几乎可分解幂等拟群大集及可分解对称幂等拟群大集(即可分解高尔夫设计) 的构造方法, 给出了其存在性的若干结果.     

Large Abelian Unipotent Subgroups of Finite Chevalley Groups

We compute maximal orders of unipotent Abelian subgroups, estimate p-ranks, and describe the structure of Thompson subgroups of maximal unipotent subgroups of finite exceptional groups of Lie type.     

Groups of even type which are not of even characteristic,I

In the ongoing revision of the classification of the finite simple groups there is a subdivision into two classes of groups, which reflects whether semisimple elements or unipotent elements are the primary focus of the investigation. While semisimple methods naturally lead to the definition of groups of even type, unipotent methods, notably the amalgam method, naturally lead to groups of even characteristic. This paper clarifies the relationship between the two definitions and thus makes the amalgam method available for use in the classification of groups of even type.     

The Besicovitch–Federer projection theorem is false in every infinite-dimensional Banach space

The theme of the article is the study of the unipotent part of Arthur’s trace formula for general linear groups. The case of regular (or “regular by blocks”) unipotent orbits has been treated in another paper (cf. [10]). Here we are interested in the contribution of Richardson orbits that are induced by Levi subgroups with two-by-two distinct blocks. In this case, the contribution is remarkably given by a global unipotent weighted orbital integral. As a corollary, we get integral formulas for some of Arthur’s global coefficients. We also present a new construction of Arthur’s local unipotent weighted orbital integral and an explicit computation of some of them.     

Galois Cohomology of Unipotent Algebraic Groups and Field Extensions

In this note we discuss, in the case of unipotent groups over nonperfect fields k of characteristic p, an analog of a theorem of Steinberg (formely a Serre's conjecture) for unipotent algebraic group schemes, which relates properties of Galois (or flat) cohomology of unipotent group schemes to finite extensions of k of degree divisible by p.     

多元向量值正交小波包的刻画

In this paper,the notion of orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets of space L2(Rs,Cn)is introduced.A procedure for constructing the orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets is presented.Their properties are characterized by virtue of time-frequency analysis method,matrix theory and finite group theory,and three orthogonality formulas are obtained.Finally,new orthonormal bases of space L2(Rs,Cn)are extracted from these wavelet packets.     

The Block Structure of the Images of Regular Unipotent Elements from Subsystem Symplectic Subgroups of Rank 2 in Irreducible Representations of Symplectic Groups. I

The dimensions of the Jordan blocks in the images of regular unipotent elements from subsystem subgroups of type C2 in p-restricted irreducible representations of groups of type Cn in characteristic p ≥ 11 with locally small highest weights are found. These results can be applied for investigating the behavior of unipotent elements in modular representations of simple algebraic groups and recognizing representations and linear groups. The article consists of 3 parts. In the first one, preliminary lemmas that are necessary for proving the principal results, are contained and the case where all weights of the restriction of a representation considered to a subgroup of type A1 containing a relevant unipotent element are less than p, is investigated.
