In this paper, we study topology of the variety of closed planar n-gons with given side lengths . The moduli space where , encodes the shapes of all such n-gons. We describe the Betti numbers of the moduli spaces as functions of the length vector . We also find sharp upper bounds on the sum of Betti numbers of depending only on the number of links n. Our method is based on an observation of a remarkable interaction between Morse functions and involutions under the condition that the fixed points of the involution coincide with the critical points of the Morse function.   相似文献

We compute the and monodromy of every irreducible component of the moduli spaces of hyperelliptic and trielliptic curves. In particular, we provide a proof that the monodromy of the moduli space of hyperelliptic curves of genus g is the symplectic group . For any fixed p > 2, we show that a reverse H?lder condition with exponent p is necessary and sufficient for the solvability of the Dirichlet problem with boundary data in L p . We also obtain a simple sufficient condition. As a consequence, we establish the solvability of the L p Dirichlet problem for and . The range of p is known to be sharp if and . Via an integral transformation, we establish two embedding results between the Emden-Fowler type equation , tt 0 > 0, with solutions x such that as , , and the equation , u > 0, with solutions y such that for given k > 0. We consider the following implicit quasi-variational inequality problem: given two topological vector spaces E and F, two nonempty sets X E and C F, two multifunctions Γ : X → 2 X and Ф : X → 2 C , and a single-valued map ψ : , find a pair such that , Ф and for all . We prove an existence theorem in the setting of Banach spaces where no continuity or monotonicity assumption is required on the multifunction Ф. Our result extends to non-compact and infinite-dimensional setting a previous results of the authors (Theorem 3.2 of Cubbiotti and Yao [15] Math. Methods Oper. Res. 46, 213–228 (1997)). Let be a strictly pseudoconvex bounded domain in with C 2 boundary . If a subnormal m-tuple T of Hilbert space operators has the spectral measure of its minimal normal extension N supported on , then T is referred to as a -isometry. Using some non-trivial approximation theorems in the theory of several complex variables, we establish a commutant lifting theorem for those -isometries whose (joint) Taylor spectra are contained in a special superdomain Ω of . Further, we provide a function-theoretic characterization of those subnormal tuples whose Taylor spectra are contained in Ω and that are quasisimilar to a certain (fixed) -isometry T (of which the multiplication tuple on the Hardy space of the unit ball in is a rather special example). Let G be countable group and M be a proper cocompact even-dimensional G-manifold with orbifold quotient . Let D be a G-invariant Dirac operator on M. It induces an equivariant K-homology class and an orbifold Dirac operator on . Composing the assembly map with the homomorphism given by the representation of the maximal group C *-algebra induced from the trivial representation of G we define index . In the second section of the paper we show that index = index([D]) and obtain explicit formulas for this integer. In the third section we review the decomposition of in terms of the contributions of fixed point sets of finite cyclic subgroups of G obtained by W. Lück. In particular, the class [D] decomposes in this way. In the last section we derive an explicit formula for the contribution to [D] associated to a finite cyclic subgroup of G.  相似文献

We prove the existence of a unique solution of the following Neumann problem , u > 0, in (a, b) × (0, T), u(x, 0) = u 0(x) ≥ 0 in (a, b), and , where if m < 0, if m = 0, and m≤ 0, , and the case −1 < m ≤ 0, , for some constant p > 1 − m. We also obtain a similar result in higher dimensions. As a corollary we will give a new proof of a result of A. Rodriguez and J.L. Vazquez on the existence of infinitely many finite mass solutions of the above equation in for any −1 < m ≤ 0. We also obtain the exact decay rate of the solution at infinity.  相似文献

We prove two results on mod p properties of Siegel modular forms. First, we use theta series in order to construct of a Siegel modular form of weight p−1 which is congruent to 1 mod p. Let denote the set of simultaneously - approximable points in and denote the set of multiplicatively ψ-approximable points in . Let be a manifold in . The aim is to develop a metric theory for the sets and analogous to the classical theory in which is simply . In this note, we mainly restrict our attention to the case that is a planar curve . A complete Hausdorff dimension theory is established for the sets and . A divergent Khintchine type result is obtained for ; i.e. if a certain sum diverges then the one-dimensional Lebesgue measure on of is full. Furthermore, in the case that is a rational quadric the convergent Khintchine type result is obtained for both types of approximation. Our results for naturally generalize the dimension and Lebesgue measure statements of Beresnevich et al. (Mem AMS, 179 (846), 1–91 (2006)). We study the relation between the symplectomorphism group Symp M of a closed connected symplectic manifold M and the symplectomorphism and diffeomorphism groups Symp and Diff of its one point blow up . There are three main arguments. The first shows that for any oriented M the natural map from to is often injective. The second argument applies when M is simply connected and detects nontrivial elements in the homotopy group that persist into the space of self-homotopy equivalences of . Since it uses purely homological arguments, it applies to c-symplectic manifolds (M, a), that is, to manifolds of dimension 2n that support a class such that . The third argument uses the symplectic structure on M and detects nontrivial elements in the (higher) homology of BSymp, M using characteristic classes defined by parametric Gromov–Witten invariants. Some results about many point blow ups are also obtained. For example we show that if M is the four-torus with k-fold blow up (where k > 0) then is not generated by the groups as ranges over the set of all symplectic forms on . We introduce a new class of exponentials of Artin–Hasse type, called π-exponentials. These exponentials depend on the choice of a generator π of the Tate module of a Lubin–Tate group over . They arise naturally as solutions of solvable differential modules over the Robba ring. If is isomorphic to over , we develop methods to test their over-convergence, and get in this way a stronger version of the Frobenius structure theorem for differential equations. We define a natural transformation of the Artin–Schreier complex into the Kummer complex. This provides an explicit generator of the Kummer unramified extension of , whose residue field is a given Artin–Schreier extension of , where k is the residue field of K. We then compute explicitly the group, under tensor product, of isomorphism classes of rank one solvable differential equations. Moreover, we get a canonical way to compute the rank one φ-module over attached to a rank one representation of , defined by an Artin–Schreier character.  相似文献
