The construction of free R-modules over a Cartesian closed topological category X is detailed (where R is a ring object in X), and it is shown that the insertion of generators is an embedding. This result extends the well-known construction of free groups, and more generally of free algebras over a Cartesian closed topological category. Many observations about coalgebras were inspired by comparable situations for algebras. Despite the prominent role of prime algebras, the theory of a corresponding notion for coalgebras was not well understood so far. Coalgebras C over fields may be called coprime provided the dual algebra C* is prime. This definition, however, is not intrinsic—it strongly depends on the base ring being a field. The purpose of the article is to provide a better understanding of related notions for coalgebras over commutative rings by employing traditional methods from (co)module theory, in particular (pre)torsion theory.

Dualizing classical primeness condition, coprimeness can be defined for modules and algebras. These notions are developed for modules and then applied to comodules. We consider prime and coprime, fully prime and fully coprime, strongly prime and strongly coprime modules and comodules. In particular, we obtain various characterisations of prime and coprime coalgebras over rings and fields.  相似文献

Summary Starting from a topological module E over a commutative discrete ring A, the category C(E) of E-compact modules is defined as the class of all A-modules topologically isomorphic to closed submodules of direct product of copies of E. Under suitable assumptions it is shown that C(E) is dual of the category of abstract A-modules M for whichHom A(M, E) separates points of M. The duality theory so obtained contains as particular cases Pontryagin's duality between discrete and compact abelian groups and Macdonald's duality between lineary discrete and linearly compact modules over a complete local ring. There are also some applications to the theory of linearly compact modules over noetherian rings.

In this paper we shall give a topological duality for Boolean algebras endowed with an n-ary monotonic operator (BAMOs). The dual spaces of BAMOs are structures of the form , such that is a Boolean space, and R is a relation between X and a finite sequences of non-empty closed subsets of X. By means of this duality we shall characterize the equivalence relations of the dual space of a BAMO A that correspond biunivocally to subalgebras of A. We shall prove that there exist bijective correspondences between the lattice of congruences, the lattice of closed filters, and the lattice of certain closed subsets of the dual space of a BAMO. These correspondences are used to study the simple and the subdirectly irreducible algebras.   相似文献

Localisation is an important technique in ring theory and yields the construction of various rings of quotients. Colocalisation in comodule categories has been investigated by some authors (see Jara et al., Commun. Algebra, 34(8):2843–2856, 2006 and Nastasescu and Torrecillas, J. Algebra, 185:203–220, 1994). Here we look at possible coalgebra covers π : DC that could play the rôle of a coalgebra colocalisation. Codense covers will dualise dense (or rational) extensions; a maximal codense cover construction for coalgebras with projective covers is proposed. We also look at a dual non-singularity concept for modules which turns out to be the comodule-theoretic property that turns the dual algebra of a coalgebra into a non-singular ring. As a corollary we deduce that hereditary coalgebras and hence path coalgebras are non-singular in the above sense. We also look at coprime coalgebras and Hopf algebras which are non-singular as coalgebras.  相似文献

We study new coalgebra structures on the tensor product of two coalgebras C and D by twisting the tensor product coalgebra via a twist map Ψ: C ? D → D ? C. We deal with the general case in which the counit of the tensor product coalgebra is deformed as well. Some classes of such deformations are analysed, and a notion of equivalence of twists is discussed. We also present the dual deformation of tensor product algebras and provide examples.  相似文献

Given a topological algebra A, we investigate when the categories of all rational A-modules and of finite-dimensional rational modules are closed under extensions inside the category of A-modules. We give a complete characterization of these two properties, in terms of a topological and a homological condition, for complete algebras. We also give connections to other important notions in coalgebra theory such as coreflexive coalgebras. In particular, we are able to generalize many previously known partial results and answer some questions in this direction, and obtain large classes of coalgebras for which rational modules are closed under extensions as well as various examples where this is not true.  相似文献

Abstract

The so called dense pairings were studied mainly by Radford in his work on coreflexive coalegbras over fields. They were generalized in a joint paper with Gómez-Torricillas and Lobillo to the so called rational pairings over a commutative ground ring R to study the interplay between the comodules of an R-coalgebra C and the modules of an R-algebra A that admits an R-algebra morphism κ : A → C*. Such pairings, satisfying the so called α-condition, were called in the author's dissertation measuring α-pairings and can be considered as the corner stone in his study of duality theorems for Hopf algebras over commutative rings. In this paper we lay the basis of the theory of rational modules of corings extending results on rational modules for coalgebras to the case of arbitrary ground rings. We apply these results mainly to categories of entwined modules (e.g., Doi-Koppinen modules, alternative Doi-Koppinen modules) generalizing results of Doi, Koppinen, Menini et al.  相似文献
