In this paper, a class of two-step continuity Runge-Kutta(TSCRK) methods for solving singular delay differential equations(DDEs) is presented. Analysis of numerical stability of this methods is given. We consider the two distinct cases: (i)τ≥ h, (ii)τ 〈 h, where the delay τ and step size h of the two-step continuity Runge-Kutta methods are both constant. The absolute stability regions of some methods are plotted and numerical examples show the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a class of explicit exponential integrators that includes as special cases the explicit exponential Runge–Kutta and exponential Adams–Bashforth methods. The additional freedom in the choice of the numerical schemes allows, in an easy manner, the construction of methods of arbitrarily high order with good stability properties. We provide a convergence analysis for abstract evolution equations in Banach spaces including semilinear parabolic initial-boundary value problems and spatial discretizations thereof. From this analysis, we deduce order conditions which in turn form the basis for the construction of new schemes. Our convergence results are illustrated by numerical examples. 1. IntroductionWhen considering the applicability of numerical methods for the solution of the delay differential equation (DDE) y'(t) = f(t, y(t), y(t - T)), it is necessary to analyze the error behaviourof the methods. In fact, many papers have investigated the local and global error behaviour ofDDE solvers (cL[1,2,14]). These error analyses are based on the assumption that the fUnctionf(t,y,z) satisfies Lipschitz conditions in both the last two variables. They are suitable fornonstiff …  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of delay differential equations(DDEs). We focus on the stability behaviour of Runge-Kutta methods for nonlinear DDEs. The new concepts of GR(l)-stability, GAR(l)-stability and weak GAR(l)-stability are further introduced. We investigate these stability properties for (k, l)-algebraically stable Runge-Kutta methods with a piecewise constant or linear interpolation procedure.  相似文献

We consider ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with a known Lyapunov function V. To ensure that a numerical integrator reflects the correct dynamical behaviour of the system, the numerical integrator should have V as a discrete Lyapunov function. Only second-order geometric integrators of this type are known for arbitrary Lyapunov functions. In this paper we describe projection-based methods of arbitrary order that preserve any given Lyapunov function. AMS subject classification (2000) 65L05, 65L06, 65L20, 65P40  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the numerical solution of dissipativeinitial value problems with delays by Runge-Kutta methods. Asufficient condition for the dissipativity of the systems isgiven. The concepts of D(l)-dissipativity and GD(l)-dissipativityare introduced. We investigate the dissipativity propertiesof (k,l)-algebraically stable Runge-Kutta methods with piecewiseconstant or linear interpolation procedures for finite-dimensionaland infinite-dimensional dynamical systems with delays.  相似文献

Some characterizations for symmetric multistep Runge-Kutta(RK) methods are obtained. Symmetric two-step RK methods with one and two-stages are presented. Numerical examples show that symmetry of multistep RK methods alone is not sufficient for long time integration for reversible Hamiltonian systems. This is an important difference between one-step and multistep symmetric RK methods.  相似文献

An extension of general linear methods (GLMs), so-called SGLMs (GLMs with second derivative), was introduced to the case in which second derivatives, as well as first derivatives, can be calculated. SGLMs are divided into four types, depending on the nature of the differential system to be solved and the computer architecture that is used to implement these methods. In this paper, we obtain maximal order for two types of SGLMs with Runge-Kutta stability (RKS) property. Also, we construct methods of these types which possess RKS property and A-stability. Efficiency of the constructed methods is shown by numerical experiments.  相似文献

This paper studies the stability and convergence properties of general Runge-Kutta methods when they are applied to stiff semilinear systems y(t) = J(t)y(t) + g(t, y(t)) with the stiffness contained in the variable coefficient linear part.We consider two assumptions on the relative variation of the matrix J(t) and show that for each of them there is a family of implicit Runge-Kutta methods that is suitable for the numerical integration of the corresponding stiff semilinear systems, i.e. the methods of the family are stable, convergent and the stage equations possess a unique solution. The conditions on the coefficients of a method to belong to these families turn out to be essentially weaker than the usual algebraic stability condition which appears in connection with the B-stability and convergence for stiff nonlinear systems. Thus there are important RK methods which are not algebraically stable but, according to our theory, they are suitable for the numerical integration of semilinear problems. This paper also extends previous results of Burrage, Hundsdorfer and Verwer on the optimal convergence of implicit Runge-Kutta methods for stiff semilinear systems with a constant coefficients linear part.  相似文献

This paper continues to study the explicit two-stage fourth-order accurate time discretizations [5-7]. By introducing variable weights, we propose a class of more general explicit one-step two-stage time discretizations, which are different from the existing methods, e.g. the Euler methods, Runge-Kutta methods, and multistage multiderivative methods etc. We study the absolute stability, the stability interval, and the intersection between the imaginary axis and the absolute stability region. Our results show that our two-stage time discretizations can be fourth-order accurate conditionally, the absolute stability region of the proposed methods with some special choices of the variable weights can be larger than that of the classical explicit fourth- or fifth-order Runge-Kutta method, and the interval of absolute stability can be almost twice as much as the latter. Several numerical experiments are carried out to demonstrate the performance and accuracy as well as the stability of our proposed methods.  相似文献

A modified Runge-Kutta method with minimal phase-lag is developed for the numerical solution of Ordinary Differential Equations with oscillating solutions. The method is based on the accurate Runge-Kutta method of Sharp and Smart RK4SS(5) (see [1]) of order five. Numerical and theoretical results show that this new approach is more efficient, compared with the fifth order Runge-Kutta Sharp and Smart method.  相似文献

Two-Step Runge-Kutta: Theory and Practice   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Local and global error for Two-Step Runge-Kutta (TSRK) methods are analyzed using the theory of B-series. Global error bounds are derived in both constant and variable stepsize environments. An embedded TSRK pair is constructed and compared with the RK5(4)6M pair of Dormand and Prince on the DETEST set of problems. Numerical results show that the TSRK performs competitively with the RK method.  相似文献

The construction of two-step Runge-Kutta methods of order p and stage order q=p with stability polynomial given in advance is described. This polynomial is chosen to have a large interval of absolute stability for explicit methods and to be A-stable and L-stable for implicit methods. After satisfying the order and stage order conditions the remaining free parameters are computed by minimizing the sum of squares of the difference between the stability function of the method and a given polynomial at a sufficiently large number of points in the complex plane. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
