Let G be a graph with n vertices and ν(G) be the matching number of G. Let η(G) denote the nullity of G (the multiplicity of the eigenvalue zero of G). It is well known that if G is a tree, then η(G)=n-2ν(G). Tan and Liu [X. Tan, B. Liu, On the nullity of unicyclic graphs, Linear Alg. Appl. 408 (2005) 212-220] proved that the nullity set of all unicyclic graphs with n vertices is {0,1,…,n-4} and characterized the unicyclic graphs with η(G)=n-4. In this paper, we characterize the unicyclic graphs with η(G)=n-5, and we prove that if G is a unicyclic graph, then η(G) equals , or n-2ν(G)+2. We also give a characterization of these three types of graphs. Furthermore, we determine the unicyclic graphs G with η(G)=0, which answers affirmatively an open problem by Tan and Liu.  相似文献

The Laplacian spread of a graph is defined to be the difference between the largest eigenvalue and the second-smallest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix of the graph. In a recent work the trees with maximal Laplacian spread and with minimal Laplacian spread among all trees of fixed order are separately determined. In this work, we characterize the unique unicyclic graph with maximal Laplacian spread among all connected unicyclic graphs of fixed order.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the largest Laplacian spectral radius of the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges and the bicyclic bipartite graphs, respectively. Identifying the center of a star K1,k and one vertex of degree n of Km,n, we denote by the resulting graph. We show that the graph (1?k?n-4) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges, and (n?7) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among all the bicyclic bipartite graphs.  相似文献

The Laplacian spectral radius of a graph is the largest eigenvalue of the associated Laplacian matrix. In this paper, we provide structural and behavioral details of graphs with maximum Laplacian spectral radius among all bipartite connected graphs of given order and size. Using these results, we provide a unified approach to determine the graphs with maximum Laplacian spectral radii among all trees, and all bipartite unicyclic, bicyclic, tricyclic and quasi-tree graphs, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide the smallest value of the second largest Laplacian eigenvalue for any unicyclic graph, and find the unicyclic graphs attaining that value. And also give an “asymptotically good” upper bounds for the second largest Laplacian eigenvalues of unicyclic graphs. Using this results, we can determine unicyclic graphs with maximum Laplacian separator. And unicyclic graphs with maximum Laplacian spread will also be determined.  相似文献

Let G be a graph of order n and let be the characteristic polynomial of its Laplacian matrix. Generalizing the approach in [D. Stevanovi?, A. Ili?, On the Laplacian coefficients of unicyclic graphs, Linear Algebra and its Applications 430 (2009) 2290-2300.] on graph transformations, we show that among all bicyclic graphs of order n, the kth coefficient ck is smallest when the graph is Bn (obtained from C4 by adding one edge connecting two non-adjacent vertices and adding n−4 pendent vertices attached to the vertex of degree 3).  相似文献

If G is a connected undirected simple graph on n vertices and n+c-1 edges, then G is called a c-cyclic graph. Specially, G is called a tricyclic graph if c=3. Let Δ(G) be the maximum degree of G. In this paper, we determine the structural characterizations of the c-cyclic graphs, which have the maximum spectral radii (resp. signless Laplacian spectral radii) in the class of c-cyclic graphs on n vertices with fixed maximum degree . Moreover, we prove that the spectral radius of a tricyclic graph G strictly increases with its maximum degree when , and identify the first six largest spectral radii and the corresponding graphs in the class of tricyclic graphs on n vertices.  相似文献
