The resolution of boundary value problems by integral equations is usually based on isomorphisms between the solution of the boundary value problem and boundary data. Using an abstract Green formula in a Hilbert space framework, we prove these isomorphisms. Many applications are given, like the Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the Laplace operator, as well as the clamped and free plate problems in the plane.  相似文献

We consider a linear integral equation with a supersingular integral treated in the sense of the Hadamard finite value, which arises in the solution of the Neumann boundary value problem for the Laplace equation with the representation of the solution in the form of a doublelayer potential. We consider the case in which the exterior boundary value problem is solved outside a plane surface (a screen). For the integral operator in the above-mentioned equation, we suggest quadrature formulas of the vortex loop method with regularization, which provide its approximation on the entire surface when using an unstructured partition. In the problem in question, the derivative of the unknown density of the double-layer potential, as well as the errors of quadrature formulas, has singularities in a neighborhood of the screen edge. We construct a numerical scheme for the integral equation on the basis of the suggested quadrature formulas and prove an estimate for the norm of the inverse matrix of the resulting system of linear equations and the uniform convergence of the numerical solutions to the exact solution of the supersingular integral equation on the grid.  相似文献

Galerkin boundary element methods for the solution of novel first kind Steklov-Poincaré and hypersingular operator boundary integral equations with nonlinear perturbations are investigated to solve potential type problems in two- and three-dimensional Lipschitz domains with nonlinear boundary conditions. For the numerical solution of the resulting Newton iterate linear boundary integral equations, we propose practical variants of the Galerkin scheme and give corresponding error estimates. We also discuss the actual implementation process with suitable preconditioners and propose an optimal hybrid solution strategy.

We consider an initial value problem for the second-order differential equation with a Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator coefficient. For the numerical solution we carry out semi-discretization by the Laguerre transformation with respect to the time variable. Then an infinite system of the stationary operator equations is obtained. By potential theory, the operator equations are reduced to boundary integral equations of the second kind with logarithmic or hypersingular kernels. The full discretization is realized by Nyström's method which is based on the trigonometric quadrature rules. Numerical tests confirm the ability of the method to solve these types of nonstationary problems.  相似文献

An approach to inverse problems based upon boundary control theory (the BC-method; M. Belishev, 1986) is developed. M. Brodskii's operator integral is introduced, which works effectively in the inverse problems. It has dynamical nature connected with propagation of discontinuities of wave fields. The integral is proved to converge for (large) times when the geodesic normal field starting at the boundary loses its regularity. The operator integral is applied to solving the problem of recovering the potential in the Schrödinger operator on a Riemannian manifold from its spectral data. Bibliography: 27 titles.  相似文献

The solution of eigenvalue problems for partial differential operators by using boundary integral equation methods usually involves some Newton potentials which may be resolved by using a multiple reciprocity approach. Here we propose an alternative approach which is in some sense equivalent to the above. Instead of a linear eigenvalue problem for the partial differential operator we consider a nonlinear eigenvalue problem for an associated boundary integral operator. This nonlinear eigenvalue problem can be solved by using some appropriate iterative scheme, here we will consider a Newton scheme. We will discuss the convergence and the boundary element discretization of this algorithm, and give some numerical results.  相似文献

Here we consider initial boundary value problems for the heat equation by using the heat potential representation for the solution. Depending on the choice of the representation we are led to a solution of the various boundary integral equations. We discuss the solvability of these equations in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. It turns out that the double-layer heat potential D and its spatial adjoint D′ have smoothing properties similar to the single-layer heat operator. This yields compactness of the operators D and D′. In addition, for any constant c ≠ 0, cI + D′ and cI + D′ are isomorphisms. Based on the coercivity of the single-layer heat operator and the above compactness we establish the coerciveness of the hypersingular heat operator. Moreover, we show an equivalence between the weak solution and the various boundary integral solutions. As a further application we describe a coupling procedure for an exterior initial boundary value problem for the non-homogeneous heat equation.  相似文献

A new approach for symbolically solving linear boundary value problems is presented. Rather than using general-purpose tools for obtaining parametrized solutions of the underlying ODE and fitting them against the specified boundary conditions (which may be quite expensive), the problem is interpreted as an operator inversion problem in a suitable Banach space setting. Using the concept of the oblique Moore—Penrose inverse, it is possible to transform the inversion problem into a system of operator equations that can be attacked by virtue of non-commutative Gröbner bases. The resulting operator solution can be represented as an integral operator having the classical Green’s function as its kernel. Although, at this stage of research, we cannot yet give an algorithmic formulation of the method and its domain of admissible inputs, we do believe that it has promising perspectives of automation and generalization; some of these perspectives are discussed.  相似文献

A hierarchical multilevel preconditioner is constructed for an efficient solution of a first kind boundary integral equation with the single layer potential operator discretized by a boundary element method. This technique is based on a hierarchical clustering of all boundary elements as used in fast boundary element methods. This hierarchy is applied to define a sequence of nested boundary element spaces of piecewise constant basis functions as used in the definition of the preconditioning multilevel operator.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a three-point boundary value problem with an integral condition for a class of parabolic equation with Bessel operator. The existence and uniqueness of the solution in functional weighted Sobolev space are proved. The proof is based on two sided a priori estimates and the density of the range of the operator generated by the considered problem.  相似文献

We construct and analyze a family of well‐conditioned boundary integral equations for the Krylov iterative solution of three‐dimensional elastic scattering problems by a bounded rigid obstacle. We develop a new potential theory using a rewriting of the Somigliana integral representation formula. From these results, we generalize to linear elasticity the well‐known Brakhage–Werner and combined field integral equation formulations. We use a suitable approximation of the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map as a regularizing operator in the proposed boundary integral equations. The construction of the approximate Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map is inspired by the on‐surface radiation conditions method. We prove that the associated integral equations are uniquely solvable and possess very interesting spectral properties. Promising analytical and numerical investigations, in terms of spherical harmonics, with the elastic sphere are provided. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider a problem of optimal control through a part of the boundary of solutions to an elliptic equation in a bounded domain with smooth boundary with a small parameter at the Laplace operator and integral constraints on the control. A complete asymptotic expansion of the solution to this problems in powers of the small parameter is constructed.  相似文献

Two-dimensional and axisymmetric boundary value problems for the Laplace equation in a domain bounded by a closed smooth contour are considered. The problems are reduced to integral equations with a periodic singular kernel, where the period is equal to the length of the contour. Taking into account the periodicity property, high-order accurate quadrature formulas are applied to the integral operator. As a result, the integral equations are reduced to a system of linear algebraic equations. This substantially simplifies the numerical schemes for solving boundary value problems and considerably improves the accuracy of approximation of the integral operator. The boundaries are specified by analytic functions, and the remainder of the quadrature formulas decreases faster than any power of the integration step size. The examples include the two-dimensional potential inviscid circulation flow past a single blade or a grid of blades; the axisymmetric flow past a torus; and free-surface flow problems, such as wave breakdown, standing waves, and the development of Rayleigh-Taylor instability.  相似文献

Here we consider initial boundary value problem for the time–fractional diffusion equation by using the single layer potential representation for the solution. We derive the equivalent boundary integral equation. We will show that the single layer potential admits the usual jump relations and discuss the mapping properties of the single layer operator in the anisotropic Sobolev spaces. Our main theorem is that the single layer operator is coercive in an anisotropic Sobolev space. Based on the coercivity and continuity of the single layer operator we finally show the bijectivity of the operator in a certain range of anisotropic Sobolev spaces.   相似文献

A new boundary integral operator is introduced for the solution of the soundsoft acoustic scattering problem, i.e., for the exterior problem for the Helmholtz equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We prove that this integral operator is coercive in L2(Γ) (where Γ is the surface of the scatterer) for all Lipschitz star‐shaped domains. Moreover, the coercivity is uniform in the wavenumber k = ω/c, where ω is the frequency and c is the speed of sound. The new boundary integral operator, which we call the “star‐combined” potential operator, is a slight modification of the standard combined potential operator, and is shown to be as easy to implement as the standard one. Additionally, to the authors' knowledge, it is the only second‐kind integral operator for which convergence of the Galerkin method in L2(Γ) is proved without smoothness assumptions on Γ except that it is Lipschitz. The coercivity of the star‐combined operator implies frequency‐explicit error bounds for the Galerkin method for any approximation space. In particular, these error estimates apply to several hybrid asymptoticnumerical methods developed recently that provide robust approximations in the high‐frequency case. The proof of coercivity of the star‐combined operator critically relies on an identity first introduced by Morawetz and Ludwig in 1968, supplemented further by more recent harmonic analysis techniques for Lipschitz domains. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the inverse spectral problem on a finite interval for the integro-differential operator ? which is the perturbation of the Sturm-Liouville operator by the Volterra integral operator. The potential q belongs to L 2[0, π] and the kernel of the integral perturbation is integrable in its domain of definition. We obtain a local solution of the inverse reconstruction problem for the potential q, given the kernel of the integral perturbation, and prove the stability of this solution. For the spectral data we take the spectra of two operators given by the expression for ? and by two pairs of boundary conditions coinciding at one of the finite points.  相似文献

Direct and inverse problems for the scattering of cracks with mixed oblique derivative boundary conditions from the incident plane wave are considered, which describe the scattering phenomenons such as the scattering of tidal waves by spits or reefs. The solvability of the direct scattering problem is proven by using the boundary integral equation method. In order to show the equivalent boundary integral system is Fredholm of index zero, some relationships concerning the tangential potential operator is used. Due to the mixed oblique derivative boundary conditions, we cannot employ the factorization method in a usual manner to reconstruct the cracks. An alternative technique is used in the theoretical analysis such that the far field operator can be factorized in an appropriate form and fulfills the range identity theorem. Finally, we present some numerical examples to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the factorization method.  相似文献

We study nonlocal equations from the area of peridynamics, an instance of nonlocal wave equation, and nonlocal diffusion on bounded domains whose governing equations contain a convolution operator based on integrals. We generalize the notion of convolution to accommodate local boundary conditions. On a bounded domain, the classical operator with local boundary conditions has a purely discrete spectrum, and hence, provides a Hilbert basis. We define an abstract convolution operator using this Hilbert basis, thereby automatically satisfying local boundary conditions. The main goal in this paper is twofold: apply the concept of abstract convolution operator to nonlocal problems and carry out a numerical study of the resulting operators. We study the corresponding initial value problems with prominent boundary conditions such as periodic, antiperiodic, Neumann, and Dirichlet. To connect to the standard convolution, we give an integral representation of the abstract convolution operator. For discretization, we use a weak formulation based on a Galerkin projection and use piecewise polynomials on each element which allows discontinuities of the approximate solution at the element borders. We study convergence order of solutions with respect to polynomial order and observe optimal convergence. We depict the solutions for each boundary condition.  相似文献

Using the fundamental solution of the heat equation, we give an expression of the solutions to two-dimensional initial-boundary value problems of the Navier-Stokes equations, where the vorticity is expressed in terms of a Poisson integral, a Newtonian potential, and a single layer potential. The density of the single layer potential is the solution to an integral equation of Volterra type along the boundary. We prove there is a unique solution to the integral equation. One fractional time step approximation is given, based on this expression. Error estimates are obtained for linear and nonlinear problems. The order of convergence is for the Navier-Stokes equations. The result is in the direction of justifying the Chorin-Marsden formula for vortex methods. It is shown that the density of the vortex sheet is twice the tangential velocity for the half plane, while in general the density differs from it by one additional term.

This paper presents an integral formulation for Helmholtz problems with mixed boundary conditions. Unlike most integral equation techniques for mixed boundary value problems, the proposed method uses a global boundary charge density. As a result, Calderón identities can be utilized to avoid the use of hypersingular integral operators. Numerical results illustrate the performance of the proposed solution technique.  相似文献
