Let A and B be unital Banach algebras and let M be a unital Banach A,B-module. Forrest and Marcoux [6] have studied the weak amenability of triangular Banach algebra \(\mathcal{T} = \left[ {_B^{AM} } \right]\) and showed that T is weakly amenable if and only if the corner algebras A and B are weakly amenable. When \(\mathfrak{A}\) is a Banach algebra and A and B are Banach \(\mathfrak{A}\)-module with compatible actions, and M is a commutative left Banach \(\mathfrak{A}\)-A-module and right Banach \(\mathfrak{A}\)-B-module, we show that A and B are weakly \(\mathfrak{A}\)-module amenable if and only if triangular Banach algebra T is weakly \(\mathfrak{T}\)-module amenable, where \(\mathfrak{T}: = \{ [^\alpha _\alpha ]:\alpha \in \mathfrak{A}\} \).  相似文献

Let A be a complex Banach algebra. It is well known that the second dual A** of A can be equipped with a multiplication that extends the original multiplication on A and makes A** a Banach algebra. We show that Rad(A) = (A * · A) and Rad(A **) = (A * · A) for some classes of Banach algebras A with scattered structure space. Some applications of these results are given.  相似文献

The concept of left character Connes-amenability for a dual Banach algebra \({\mathcal {A}}\) is introduced. We obtain a cohomological characterization of left character Connes-amenability as well as the relation between left \(\varphi \)-Connes-amenability and existence of left \(\varphi \)-normal virtual diagonals for a \(\omega ^{*}\)-continuous character \(\varphi \). We prove that left character amenability of \({\mathcal {A}}\) is equivalent to left character Connes-amenability of \({\mathcal {A}}^{**}\) when \({\mathcal {A}}\) is Arens regular. Moreover for a locally compact group G, we show that M(G) is left character Connes-amenable. In addition by means of some examples we show that for the new notion, the corresponding class of dual Banach algebras is larger than Connes-amenable dual Banach algebras.  相似文献

Let A and B be algebras, and let T be the dual extension algebra of A and B. We provide a different method to prove that T is Koszul if and only if both A and B are Koszul. Furthermore, we prove that an algebra is Koszul if and only if one of its iterated dual extension algebras is Koszul, if and only if all its iterated dual extension algebras are Koszul. Finally, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a dual extension algebra to have the property that all linearly presented modules are Koszul modules, which provides an effective way to construct algebras with such a property.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group, ω a weight function on G, and 1<p<∞. We introduce the Lebesgue weighted L p -space \({\mathcal{L}}_{\omega}^{1,p}(G)= L^{p}(G,\omega)\cap L^{1}(G)\) as a Banach space and introduce its dual. Furthermore, we consider this space as a Banach algebra with respect to the usual convolution and show that \({\mathcal{L}}_{\omega}^{1,p}(G)\) admits a bounded approximate identity if and only if G is discrete. In addition, we prove that amenability of this algebra implies that G is discrete and amenable. Moreover, we discuss the converse of this result.  相似文献

Extending M. Daws’ definition of ultra-amenable Banach algebras, we introduce the notion of operator ultra-amenability for completely contractive Banach algebras. For a locally compact group G, we show that the operator ultra-amenability of A(G) imposes severe restrictions on G. In particular, it forces G to be a discrete, amenable group with no infinite abelian subgroups. For various classes of such groups, this means that G is finite.  相似文献

A continuous linear map T from a Banach algebra A into another B approximately preserves the zero products if ‖T(a)T(b)‖ ≤ α‖a‖‖b‖ (a,bA, ab = 0) for some small positive α. This paper is mainly concerned with the question of whether any continuous linear surjective map T: AB that approximately preserves the zero products is close to a continuous homomorphism from A onto B with respect to the operator norm. We show that this is indeed the case for amenable group algebras.  相似文献

In this paper a concept of amenability for an arbitrary subset A of discrete semigroup S called A-amenable is introduced and studied. This concept is characterized by several equivalent statements which are analogues of properties characterizing left amenable semigroups. We also obtain the relationship between this version of amenability and Følner’s condition.  相似文献

We prove that each 2-local derivation from the algebra Mn(A ) (n > 2) into its bimodule Mn(M) is a derivation, where A is a unital Banach algebra and M is a unital A -bimodule such that each Jordan derivation from A into M is an inner derivation, and that each 2-local derivation on a C*-algebra with a faithful traceable representation is a derivation. We also characterize local and 2-local Lie derivations on some algebras such as von Neumann algebras, nest algebras, the Jiang–Su algebra, and UHF algebras.  相似文献

Let K be an ultrametric complete algebraically closed field, let D be a disk {x ∈ K ‖x| < R} (with R in the set of absolute values of K) and let A be the Banach algebra of bounded analytic functions in D. The vector space generated by the set of characters of A is dense in the topological dual of A if and only if K is not spherically complete. Let H(D) be the Banach algebra of analytic elements in D. The vector space generated by the set of characters of H(D) is never dense in the topological dual of H(D).  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup. We study the structure of graded-simple S-graded algebras A and the exponential rate PIexp S-gr(A):= limn→∞ \(\sqrt[n]{{c_n^{S - gr}\left( A \right)}}\) of growth of codimensions c n S-gr (A) of their graded polynomial identities. This is of great interest since such algebras can have non-integer PIexp S-gr(A) despite being finite dimensional and associative. In addition, such algebras can have a non-trivial Jacobson radical J(A). All this is in strong contrast with the case when S is a group since in the group case J(A) is trivial, PIexp S-gr(A) is always integer and, if the base field is algebraically closed, then PIexp S-gr(A) equals dimA. Without any restrictions on the base field F, we classify graded-simple S-graded algebras A for a class of semigroups S which is complementary to the class of groups. We explicitly describe the structure of J(A) showing that J(A) is built up of pieces of a maximal S-graded semisimple subalgebra of A which turns out to be simple. When F is algebraically closed, we get an upper bound for \({\overline {\lim } _{n \to \infty }}\sqrt[n]{{c_n^{S - gr}\left( A \right)}}\). If A/J(A) ≈ M 2(F) and S is a right zero band, we show that this upper bound is sharp and PIexp S-gr(A) indeed exists. In particular, we present an infinite family of graded-simple algebras A with arbitrarily large non-integer PIexp S-gr(A).  相似文献

Following Runde, we define the concept of ideal Connes-amenability for dual Banach algebras. For an Arens regular dual Banach algebra \({\mathcal {A}}\), we prove that the ideal Connes-amenability of \(\mathcal {A^{**}}\), the second dual of \({\mathcal {A}}\) necessities ideal Connes-amenability of \({{\mathcal {A}}}\). As a typical example, we show that von Neumann algebras are always ideally Connes-amenable. For a locally compact group G, the Fourier–Stieltjes algebra of G is ideally Connes-amenable, but not ideally amenable.  相似文献

We investigate involutions and trivolutions in the second dual of algebras related to a locally compact topological semigroup and the Fourier algebra of a locally compact group. We prove, among the other things, that for a large class of topological semigroups namely, compactly cancellative foundation \(*\)-semigroup S when it is infinite non-discrete cancellative, \(M_a(S)^{**}\) does not admit an involution, and \(M_a(S)^{**}\) has a trivolution with range \(M_a(S)\) if and only if S is discrete. We also show that when G is an amenable group, the second dual of the Fourier algebra of G admits an involution extending one of the natural involutions of A(G) if and only if G is finite. However, \(A(G)^{**}\) always admits trivolution.  相似文献

For an amenable inverse semigroup S with the set of idempotents E and a minimal idempotent, we explicitly construct a contractive and positive module operator virtual diagonal on the Fourier algebra A(S), as a completely contractive Banach algebra and operator module over \(\ell ^1(E)\). This generalizes a well known result of Zhong-Jin Ruan on operator amenability of the Fourier algebra of a (discrete) group Ruan (Am J Math 117:1449–1474, 1995).  相似文献

We extend the well-known criterion of Lotz for the dual Radon–Nikodym property (RNP) of Banach lattices to finitely generated Banach C(K)-modules and Banach C(K)-modules of finite multiplicity. Namely, we prove that if X is a Banach space from one of these classes then its Banach dual \(X^\star \) has the RNP iff X does not contain a closed subspace isomorphic to \(\ell ^1\).  相似文献

In this paper, we first characterize pseudo-amenability of semigroup algebras \(\ell ^1(S),\) for a certain class of commutative semigroups S,  the so-called archimedean semigroups. We show that for an archimedean semigroup S,  pseudo-amenability, amenability and approximate amenability of \(\ell ^1(S)\) are equivalent. Then for a commutative semigroup S,  we show that pseudo-amenability of \(\ell ^{1}(S)\) implies that S is a Clifford semigroup. Finally, we give some results on pseudo-amenability and approximate amenability of the second dual of a certain class of commutative semigroup algebras \(\ell ^1(S)\).  相似文献

Let C be a finite dimensional directed algebra over an algebraically closed field k and A=A(C) the dual extension of C. The characteristic modules of A are constructed explicitly for a class of directed algebras, which generalizes the results of Xi. Furthermore, it is shown that the characteristic modules of dual extensions of a certain class of directed algebras admit the left Groebner basis theory in the sense of E. L. Green.  相似文献

We introduce two notions of amenability for a Banach algebra A. LetI be a closed two-sided ideal inA, we sayA is I-weakly amenable if the first cohomology group ofA with coefficients in the dual space I* is zero; i.e.,H 1(A, I*) = {0}, and,A is ideally amenable ifA isI-weakly amenable for every closed two-sided idealI inA. We relate these concepts to weak amenability of Banach algebras. We also show that ideal amenability is different from amenability and weak amenability. We study theI-weak amenability of a Banach algebraA for some special closed two-sided idealI.  相似文献

A classic result by Bass says that the class of all projective modules is covering if and only if it is closed under direct limits. Enochs extended the if-part by showing that every class of modules C, which is precovering and closed under direct limits, is covering, and asked whether the converse is true. We employ the tools developed in [18] and give a positive answer when C = A, or C is the class of all locally Aω-free modules, where A is any class of modules fitting in a cotorsion pair (A, B) such that B is closed under direct limits. This setting includes all cotorsion pairs and classes of locally free modules arising in (infinite-dimensional) tilting theory. We also consider two particular applications: to pure-semisimple rings, and Artin algebras of infinite representation type.  相似文献
