Let (X,A) be a measureable space andT:XX a measurable mapping. Consider a family ℳ of probability measures onA which satisfies certain closure conditions. IfA 0A is a convergence class for ℳ such that, for everyAA 0, the sequence ((1/n) Σ i =0/n−1 1 A T i) converges in distribution (with respect to some probability measurev ∈ ℳ), then there exists aT-invariant element in ℳ. In particular, for the special case of a topological spaceX and a continuous mappingT, sufficient conditions for the existence ofT-invariant Borel probability measures with additional regularity properties are obtained.  相似文献

We callS a Cl-subset ofG, if for any isomorphism Cay(G,S) ≈ Cay(G,T) there is an α∈ Aut(G) such thatS α =T. Assume that m is a positive integer.G is called anm-Cl-group if every subsetS ofG withS =S −1 and | S | ≤m is Cl. LetA, B, S be finite subsets of an abelian groupG. Suppose that the restricted sumsetC={α+b: α ∈A, b ∈B, and α − b ∉S} is nonempty and somecC can be written asa+b withaA andbB in at mostm ways. We show that ifG is torsion-free or elementary abelian, then |C|≥|A|+|B|−|S|−m. We also prove that |C|≥|A|+|B|−2|S|−m if the torsion subgroup ofG is cyclic. In the caseS={0} this provides an advance on a conjecture of Lev. GivenP-classesP 1 andP 2, the pair (P 1,P 2) is said to satisfy the (PF)-property if givenAP 1 andB * P 2 such thatAB=XB for someXB(H), we haveA * X=XB * . Generalising the (classical) Putnam—Fuglede theorem, it is shown here that the pair (P 1,P 2) has the (PF)-property if and only if, givenAP 1 andB *P 2 such thatAX=XB for some quasi-affinityXB(H), the following conditions hold: (i)B * is normal impliesA is normal; (ii)A has a normal direct summand impliesB * has a normal direct summand; (iii)A andB * pure impliesX is non-existent. An interestingP-class is the classC 0 of contractions withC 0 completely non-unitary parts which satisfy property (P 2). AssumingH to be separable, it is shown that ifC 1 denotes thoseA C 0 for which the defect operatorsD A =(1–A*A)1/2 is of Hilbert—Schmidt class and for which either the pure part ofA has empty point spectrum or the eigen-values ofA are all simple, then the pair (C 0,C 1) has the (PF)-property. The classC 1 defines aP-class; a crucial role in the proof of this statement is played by the interesting result that aC 0 contraction with spectrum on the unit circle can not satisfy property (P 2). Applications of these results are considered, amongst them that ifA andB are quasi-similar hyponormal contractions such that the pure part ofA has finite multiplicity andD B is of Hilbert —Schmidt class, then their normal parts are unitarily equivalent and their pure parts are quasi-similar.  相似文献

It is shown that ifA andB are non-empty subsets of {0, 1} n (for somenεN) then |A+B|≧(|A||B|)α where α=(1/2) log2 3 here and in what follows. In particular if |A|=2 n-1 then |A+A|≧3 n-1 which anwers a question of Brown and Moran. It is also shown that if |A| = 2 n-1 then |A+A|=3 n-1 if and only if the points ofA lie on a hyperplane inn-dimensions. Necessary and sufficient conditions are also given for |A +B|=(|A||B|)α. The above results imply the following improvement of a result of Talagrand [7]: ifX andY are compact subsets ofK (the Cantor set) withm(X),m(Y)>0 then λ(X+Y)≧2(m(X)m(Y))α wherem is the usual measure onK and λ is Lebesgue measure. This also answers a question of Moran (in more precise terms) showing thatm is not concentrated on any proper Raikov system.  相似文献

Suppose thatR is a prime ring with the centerZ and the extended centroidC. An additive subgroupA ofR is said to be invariant under special automorphisms if (1+t)A(1+t)−1A for alltR such thatt 2=0. Assume thatR possesses nontrivial idempotents. We prove: (1) If chR ≠ 2 or ifRCC 2, then any noncentral additive subgroup ofR invariant under special automorphisms contains a noncentral Lie ideal. (2) If chR=2,RC=C 2 andC ≠ {0, 1}, then the following two conditions are equivalent: (i) any noncentral additive subgroup invariant under special automorphisms contains a noncentral Lie ideal; (ii) there isαZ / {0} such thatα 2 Z ⊆ {β 2:βZ}.  相似文献

We show that it is consistent with ZFC thatL (Y,B,ν) has no linear lifting for many non-complete probability spaces (Y,B,ν), in particular forY=[0,1]A,B=Borel subsets ofY, ν=usual Radon measure onB. Let A and B denote two families of subsets of an n-element set. The pair (A,B) is said to be -cross-intersecting iff |AB|= for all AA and BB. Denote by P e (n) the maximum value of |A||B| over all such pairs. The best known upper bound on P e (n) is Θ(2 n ), by Frankl and R?dl. The chaos caused by a strong-mixing preserving transformation is discussed and it is shown that for a topological spaceX satisfying the second axiom of countability and for an outer measurem onX satisfying the conditions: (i) every non-empty open set ofX ism-measurable with positivem-measure; (ii) the restriction ofm on Borel σ-algebra ℬ(X) ofX is a probability measure, and (iii) for everyYX there exists a Borel setB⊂ℬ(X) such thatBY andm(B) =m(Y), iff:XX is a strong-mixing measure-preserving transformation of the probability space (X, ℬ(X),m), and if {m}, is a strictly increasing sequence of positive integers, then there exists a subsetCX withm (C) = 1, finitely chaotic with respect to the sequence {m i}, i.e. for any finite subsetA ofC and for any mapF:AX there is a subsequencer i such that limi→∞ f r i(a) =F(a) for anyaA. Canonical well-generatedness is defined in the introduction. Recall thatB(ℵ1) *B(ℵ0) is canonically well-generated, and thus well-generated. We prove the following result. Theorem 2:B(ℵ1) *B(ℵ0)contains a non canonically well generated Boolean subalgebra. In contrast with Theorem 1(b), we have the following result. Theorem 3:Let A ={ɑ:α<ℵ1}⊆℘(w)be a strictly increasing sequence in the relation of almost containment. Such induced maps can be topologized by the natural metricD(A, A’) = μ(AΔA’) onF mod sets of measure zero. We discuss here ergodic properties ofT A which are residual in this metric. The first theorem is due to Conze.Theorem 1 (Conze):For T ergodic, T A is weakly mixing for a residual set of A.Theorem 2:For T ergodic, 0-entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is rank-1, and rigid for a residual set of A.Theorem 3:For T ergodic, positive entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is Bernoulli for a residual set of A.Theorem 4:For T ergodic of positive entropy, T A is a K-automorphism for a residual set of A. WriteF for the set of homomorphisms from {0, 1} d toZ which send0 to 0 (think of members ofF as labellings of {0, 1} d in which adjacent strings get labels differing by exactly 1), andF 1 for those which take on exactlyi values. We give asymptotic formulae for |F| and |F|. In particular, we show that the probability that a uniformly chosen memberf ofF takes more than five values tends to 0 asd→∞. This settles a conjecture of J. Kahn. Previously, Kahn had shown that there is a constantb such thatf a.s. takes at mostb values. This in turn verified a conjecture of I. Benjaminiet al., that for eacht>0,f a.s. takes at mosttd values. Determining |F| is equivalent both to counting the number of rank functions on the Boolean lattice 2[d] (functionsf: 2[d]→N satisfyingf( ) andf(A)≤f(Ax)≤f(A)+1 for allA∈2[d] andx∈[d]) and to counting the number of proper 3-colourings of the discrete cube (i.e., the number of homomorphisms from {0, 1} d toK 3, the complete graph on 3 vertices). Our proof uses the main lemma from Kahn’s proof of constant range, together with some combinatorial approximation techniques introduced by A. Sapozhenko. We raise the following problem. For natural numbers m, n ≥ 2, determine pairs d′, d″ (both depending on m and n only) with the property that in every pair of set systems A, B with |A| ≤ m, |B| ≤ n, and AB ≠ 0 for all AA, BB, there exists an element contained in at least d′ |A| members of A and d″ |B| members of B. Generalizing a previous result of Kyureghyan, we prove that all the extremal pairs of (d′, d″) lie on or above the line (n − 1) x + (m − 1) y = 1. Constructions show that the pair (1 + ɛ / 2n − 2, 1 + ɛ / 2m − 2) is infeasible in general, for all m, n ≥ 2 and all ɛ > 0. Moreover, for m = 2, the pair (d′, d″) = (1 / n, 1 / 2) is feasible if and only if 2 ≤ n ≤ 4. The problem originates from Razborov and Vereshchagin’s work on decision tree complexity.
