In this paper, we give the definition of the height of a valuation and the definition of the big field Cp,G, where p is a prime and GR is an additive subgroup containing 1. We conclude that Cp,G is a field and Cp,G is algebraically closed. Based on this the author obtains the complete classification of valuations on arithmetic surfaces. Furthermore, for any m ≤n∈ Z, let Vm,n be an R-vector space of dimension n-m + 1, whose coordinates are indexed from m to n. We generalize the definition of Cp,G, where p i...  相似文献

Path-closed sets
Given a digraphG = (V, E), call a node setTV path-closed ifv, v′ εT andw εV is on a path fromv tov′ impliesw εT. IfG is the comparability graph of a posetP, the path-closed sets ofG are the convex sets ofP. We characterize the convex hull of (the incidence vectors of) all path-closed sets ofG and its antiblocking polyhedron inR v , using lattice polyhedra, and give a minmax theorem on partitioning a given subset ofV into path-closed sets. We then derive good algorithms for the linear programs associated to the convex hull, solving the problem of finding a path-closed set of maximum weight sum, and prove another min-max result closely resembling Dilworth’s theorem.  相似文献

The minimum number of total independent partition sets of VE of graph G(V,E) is called the total chromatic number of G denoted by χ t (G). If the difference of the numbers of any two total independent partition sets of VE is no more than one, then the minimum number of total independent partition sets of VE is called the equitable total chromatic number of G, denoted by χ et (G). In this paper, we obtain the equitable total chromatic number of the join graph of fan and wheel with the same order. Let G = (V,E) be a graph and let S V. The set S is a packing in G if the vertices of S are pairwise at distance at least three apart in G. The set S is a dominating set (DS) if every vertex in VS is adjacent to a vertex in S. Further, if every vertex in VS is also adjacent to a vertex in VS, then S is a restrained dominating set (RDS). The domination number of G, denoted by γ(G), is the minimum cardinality of a DS of G, while the restrained domination number of G, denoted by γr(G), is the minimum cardinality of a RDS of G. The graph G is γ-excellent if every vertex of G belongs to some minimum DS of G. A constructive characterization of trees with equal domination and restrained domination numbers is presented. As a consequence of this characterization we show that the following statements are equivalent: (i) T is a tree with γ(T)=γr(T); (ii) T is a γ-excellent tree and TK2; and (iii) T is a tree that has a unique maximum packing and this set is a dominating set of T. We show that if T is a tree of order n with ℓ leaves, then γr(T) ≤ (n + ℓ + 1)/2, and we characterize those trees achieving equality.  相似文献

Bounds on the Distance Two-Domination Number of a Graph   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
For a graph G = (V, E), a subset DV(G) is said to be distance two-dominating set in G if for each vertex uVD, there exists a vertex vD such that d(u,v)≤2. The minimum cardinality of a distance two-dominating set in G is called a distance two-domination number and is denoted by γ2(G). In this note we obtain various upper bounds for γ2(G) and characterize the classes of graphs attaining these bounds. Received: May 31, 1999 Final version received: July 13, 2000  相似文献

Let G=(V,E) be a simple graph. A subset DV is a dominating set of G, if for any vertex xVD, there exists a vertex yD such that xyE. By using the so-called vertex disjoint paths cover introduced by Reed, in this paper we prove that every graph G on n vertices with minimum degree at least five has a dominating set of order at most 5n/14.  相似文献

Convex Sets Under Some Graph Operations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Given a connected graph G, we say that a set CV(G) is convex in G if, for every pair of vertices x,yC, the vertex set of every x-y geodesic in G is contained in C. The cardinality of a maximal proper convex set in G is the convexity number of G. In this paper, we characterize the convex sets of graphs resulting from some binary operations, and compute the convexity numbers of the resulting graphs. LetV be a set ofn elements. The set of allk-subsets ofV is denoted . Ak-hypergraph G consists of avertex-set V(G) and anedgeset , wherek≥2. IfG is a 3-hypergraph, then the set of edges containing a given vertexvεV(G) define a graphG v . The graphs {G v νvεV(G)} aresubsumed byG. Each subsumed graphG v is a graph with vertex-setV(G) − v. They can form the set of vertex-deleted subgraphs of a graphH, that is, eachG v Hv, whereV(H)=V(G). In this case,G is a hypergraphic reconstruction ofH. We show that certain families of self-complementary graphsH can be reconstructed in this way by a hypergraphG, and thatG can be extended to a hypergraphG *, all of whose subsumed graphs are isomorphic toH, whereG andG * are self-complementary hypergraphs. In particular, the Paley graphs can be reconstructed in this way. This work was supported by an operating grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

A three-valued function f: V → {−1, 0, 1} defined on the vertices of a graph G= (V, E) is a minus total dominating function (MTDF) if the sum of its function values over any open neighborhood is at least one. That is, for every υV, f(N(υ)) ⩾ 1, where N(υ) consists of every vertex adjacent to υ. The weight of an MTDF is f(V) = Σf(υ), over all vertices υV. The minus total domination number of a graph G, denoted γ t (G), equals the minimum weight of an MTDF of G. In this paper, we discuss some properties of minus total domination on a graph G and obtain a few lower bounds for γ t (G).  相似文献

Let G=(V 1,V 2;E) be a bipartite graph with 2km=|V 1|≤|V 2|=n, where k is a positive integer. We show that if the number of edges of G is at least (2k−1)(n−1)+m, then G contains k vertex-disjoint cycles, unless e(G)=(2k−1)(n−1)+m and G belongs to a known class of graphs. For a finite poset P = (V, ≤ ), let _s(P){\cal B}_s(P) consist of all triples (x,y,z) ∈ V 3 such that either x < y < z or z < y < x. Similarly, for every finite, simple, and undirected graph G = (V,E), let Bs(G){\cal B}_s(G) consist of all triples (x,y,z) ∈ V 3 such that y is an internal vertex on an induced path in G between x and z. The ternary relations Bs(P){\cal B}_s(P) and Bs(G){\cal B}_s(G) are well-known examples of so-called strict betweennesses. We characterize the pairs (P,G) of posets P and graphs G on the same ground set V which induce the same strict betweenness relation Bs(P)=Bs(G){\cal B}_s(P)={\cal B}_s(G).  相似文献

 Let G be a graph and W a subset of V(G). Let g,f:V(G)→Z be two integer-valued functions such that g(x)≤f(x) for all xV(G) and g(y)≡f(y) (mod 2) for all yW. Then a spanning subgraph F of G is called a partial parity (g,f)-factor with respect to W if g(x)≤deg F (x)≤f(x) for all xV(G) and deg F (y)≡f(y) (mod 2) for all yW. We obtain a criterion for a graph G to have a partial parity (g,f)-factor with respect to W. Furthermore, by making use of this criterion, we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for a graph G to have a subgraph which covers W and has a certain given property. Let G be a digraph with vertex set V(G) and arc set E(G) and let g = (g , g +) and ƒ = (ƒ , ƒ +) be pairs of positive integer-valued functions defined on V(G) such that g (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(G). A (g, ƒ)-factor of G is a spanning subdigraph H of G such that g (x) ⩽ id H (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ od H (x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(H); a (g, ƒ)-factorization of G is a partition of E(G) into arc-disjoint (g, ƒ)-factors. Let = {F 1, F 2,…, F m} and H be a factorization and a subdigraph of G, respectively. is called k-orthogonal to H if each F i , 1 ⩽ im, has exactly k arcs in common with H. In this paper it is proved that every (mg+m−1,m+1)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization k-orthogonal to any given subdigraph with km arcs if k ⩽ min{g (x), g +(x)} for any xV(G) and that every (mg, mf)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization orthogonal to any given directed m-star if 0 ⩽ g(x) ⩽ f(x) for any xV(G). The results in this paper are in some sense best possible.   相似文献

On Group Chromatic Number of Graphs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Let G be a graph and A an Abelian group. Denote by F(G, A) the set of all functions from E(G) to A. Denote by D an orientation of E(G). For fF(G,A), an (A,f)-coloring of G under the orientation D is a function c : V(G)↦A such that for every directed edge uv from u to v, c(u)−c(v) ≠ f(uv). G is A-colorable under the orientation D if for any function fF(G, A), G has an (A, f)-coloring. It is known that A-colorability is independent of the choice of the orientation. The group chromatic number of a graph G is defined to be the least positive integer m for which G is A-colorable for any Abelian group A of order ≥m, and is denoted by χg(G). In this note we will prove the following results. (1) Let H1 and H2 be two subgraphs of G such that V(H1)∩V(H2)=∅ and V(H1)∪V(H2)=V(G). Then χg(G)≤min{max{χg(H1), maxvV(H2)deg(v,G)+1},max{χg(H2), maxuV(H1) deg (u, G) + 1}}. We also show that this bound is best possible. (2) If G is a simple graph without a K3,3-minor, then χg(G)≤5.  相似文献

Closed Separator Sets   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A smallest separator in a finite, simple, undirected graph G is a set SV (G) such that GS is disconnected and |S|=κ(G), where κ(G) denotes the connectivity of G. A set S of smallest separators in G is defined to be closed if for every pair S,TS, every component C of GS, and every component S of GT intersecting C either X(C,D) := (V (C) ∩ T) ∪ (TS) ∪ (SV (D)) is in S or |X(C,D)| > κ(G). This leads, canonically, to a closure system on the (closed) set of all smallest separators of G. A graph H with is defined to be S-augmenting if no member of S is a smallest separator in GH:=(V (G) ∪ V (H), E(G) ∪ E(H)). It is proved that if S is closed then every minimally S-augmenting graph is a forest, which generalizes a result of Jordán. Several applications are included, among them a generalization of a Theorem of Mader on disjoint fragments in critically k-connected graphs, a Theorem of Su on highly critically k-connected graphs, and an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Su on disjoint fragments in contraction critically k-connected graphs of maximal minimum degree.  相似文献
