The flag geometry =( ) of a finite projective plane of order s is the generalized hexagon of order (s, 1) obtained from by putting equal to the set of all flags of , by putting equal to the set of all points and lines of and where I is the natural incidence relation (inverse containment), i.e., is the dual of the double of in the sense of Van Maldeghem Mal:98. Then we say that is fully and weakly embedded in the finite projective space PG(d, q) if is a subgeometry of the natural point-line geometry associated with PG(d, q), if s = q, if the set of points of generates PG(d, q), and if the set of points of not opposite any given point of does not generate PG(d, q). Preparing the classification of all such embeddings, we construct in this paper the classical examples, prove some generalities and show that the dimension d of the projective space belongs to {6,7,8}.  相似文献

Range of the posterior probability of an interval over the -contamination class ={=(1–)0+q:qQ} is derived. Here, 0 is the elicited prior which is assumed unimodal, is the amount of uncertainty in 0, andQ is the set of all probability densitiesq for which =(1–)0+q is unimodal with the same mode as that of 0. We show that the sup (resp. inf) of the posterior probability of an interval is attained by a prior which is equal to (1–)0 except in one interval (resp. two disjoint intervals) where it is constant.  相似文献

In a recent article Pillai (1990,Ann. Inst. Statist. Math.,42, 157–161) showed that the distribution 1–E (–x ), 0<1; 0x, whereE (x) is the Mittag-Leffler function, is infinitely divisible and geometrically infinitely divisible. He also clarified the relation between this distribution and a stable distribution. In the present paper, we generalize his results by using Bernstein functions. In statistics, this generalization is important, because it gives a new characterization of geometrically infinitely divisible distributions with support in (0, ).  相似文献

Denote by q an affine plane of order q. In the desarguesian case q=AG(2,q), q 5(q= ph, p prime), we prove that the smallest cardinality of a blocking set is 2q–1. In any arbitrary affine plane q (desarguesian or not) with q5, for any integer k with 2q–1 k(q–1)2, we construct a blocking set S with ¦S¦=k. For an irreducible blocking set S of q we determine the upper bound S [qq]+1. We prove that if q contains a blocking set S which is irreducible with its complementary blocking set, then necessarily q=AG(2, 4) and S is uniquely determined. Hence, log() corresponds to a nontrivial cocycle (g): GH in some representation space H . In contrast with the case of PGL(2,), the representation is not irreducible.Let o (g) be the derivative of the spherical function corresponding to the complementary series of A ut(T). Two-parameter Vilenkin systems will be investigated. First we give a general sufficient condition for multipliers to be bounded between two-dimensional Hardy spaces H q(0<q1). By means of interpolation and duality argument, this theorem can be extended to other spaces. As a consequence, we can prove the (H q , L q)-boundedness of the Sunouchi operator U with respect to two-parameter Vilenkin systems for all 0 <q 1. Every Borel measurable function : [0, ) [0, ) induces a function : M M by (f)(x) = (|f(x)|). We introduce the concepts of -factor and -invariant space. If is a -subadditive seminorm function, we give, under suitable conditions over , necessary and sufficient conditions in order that M be invariant and prove the existence of -factors for . We also give a characterization of the best -factor for a -subadditive function seminorm when is -finite. Let Mn denote an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold. The number is called the index of sphericity and k the exponent of sphericity. The following theorems are proved in the paper.THEOREM 1. Let the Sasakian metric of T1Mn be -strongly spherical with exponent of sphericity k. The following assertions hold: a) = 1 if and only if M2 has constant Gaussian curvature K 1 and k = K2/4; b) = 3 if and only if M2 has constant curvature K = 1 and k = 1/4; c) = 0, otherwise.THEOREM 2. Let the Sasakian metric of T1Mn (n Mn) be -strongly spherical with exponent of sphericity k. If k > 1/3 and k 1, then = 0. Let us denote by (Mn, K) a space of constant curvatureK. THEOREM 3. Summary Let G be a sharply 3-transitive permutation set on a finite set E of even cardinality and let 1 be in G. The following theorems are proved. G is one of the known examples if and only if there exists a non-identity normal subgroup N of G and an element of E such that NG G.G is a group if and only if G for every G and for every G and for every G .By using the classification of finite single groups a result concerning sharply k-transitive permutation sets k>3 is also proved.

In his last letter to Hardy, Ramanujan defined 17 functions F(q), where |q| < 1. He called them mock theta functions, because as q radially approaches any point e 2ir (r rational), there is a theta function F r(q) with F(q) – F r(q) = O(1). In this paper we obtain the transformations of Ramanujan's fifth and seventh order mock theta functions under the modular group generators + 1 and –1/, where q = e i. The transformation formulas are more complex than those of ordinary theta functions. A definition of the order of a mock theta function is also given.  相似文献
