Stabilität Mehrfach Zusammenhängender Minimalflächen

Multiply connected minimal surfaces of genus 0 with only simple interior branch points, for which the corresponding boundary value problem $$\Delta h - K|x_z |^2 h = 0; h_{|\partial \Omega } = 0$$ (K is the Gauss curvature and x_z is the complex gradient of the surface x) is uniquely solvable and which have the property, that the condition K|x_z|²≠0 holds in the branch points, are always isolated and stable solutions of the Plateau problem, corresponding to their boundary curves. To achieve these results one has to consider the conformal type as a variable. We give a method to perform the variation of the conformal type for holomorphic functions. Using the Weierstrass representation we thus obtain a differentiable structure on the set of multiply connected minimal surfaces. We find interesting connections between the classical Riemann-Hilbert problem and Fredholm properties of a projection operator on this manifold.

Summary A versatile pulse counter arrangement for nuclear radiation measurements is described. It consists of ten binary scalers (one E90CC tube per channel, deadtime 1·5 s), ten commercial decade plug-in units (one E1T+E90CC, deadtime 27 s), and ten mechanical registers (driven by one E90CC, 20 counts/s). The binary scalers accept negative pulses (10 V, rise <0·5 s, decay >1 s) and serve as fast input scaling stages; they are designed to produce output pulses of the special shape required for triggering the subsequent decade stages.If all decade units are used singly, this equipment permits to count pulses in ten independent channels at a maximum rate of 400/s with negligible losses. On the other hand, one or several decade pairs can be made to work as scale-of-200's, so that up to 4000 pulses/s/channel can be measured with counting losses 1%.In cases where only 5 independent channels are needed, a switch common to all channels eliminates the dead-time otherwise required for reading out the counting results. This is done by alternative switching between even and odd registers, and in those channels which are connected as scale-of-20's, also the corresponding decade units are stopped and can be read whilst the other group of channels is working. This feature has proved especially helpful in investigations on the scintillation spectra of short-lived radioisotopes.The power supply has been constructed without using an anode voltage transformer, so that the whole apparatus is small and relatively light weighted.
