Effect of Hall current on the unsteady free convection flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past a fluctuating porous flat plate with internal heat absorption/generation in the presence of foreign gasses (such as H2, CO2, H2O, NH3) was investigated. The results are discussed with the effect of the parameters m, the Hall current, Mt, the hydromagnetic parameter, G r the Grashoff number for heat transfer, G c , the Grashoff number for mass transfer, S, the internal heat absorption/generation parameter, α, the transpiration parameter, S c , the Schmidt parameter, and K c the chemical reaction parameter for Prandtl number P r = 0.71, which represents air. Further, the present study accounts for the 1st order chemical reaction affecting the flow characteristics. The governing equations are solved in closed form applying Hh n (x) function. The effects of pertinent parameters characterizing the flow field are discussed with the help of graphs and tables. The important observation of the present study is that heat generation/absorption modifies the flow of current simultaneously to a magnetic force and thermal bouncy force. Heat generation combined with blowing leads to a sharp fall of temperature.  相似文献

The influence of radiation and chemical reaction on a natural convective MHD flow through a porous medium bounded by a vertical infinite surface in the presence of transverse magnetic field is studied. The basic equations governing the flow, heat and mass transfer are reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations by appropriate transformations. Governing equations are solved by perturbation technique for velocity, temperature and concentration, and that has been presented graphically for different values of involved parameters. It is observed that effects of magnetic parameter and radiation parameter in the flow field affect the flow significantly.  相似文献

Present study investigates entropy generation analysis for peristaltic motion of hybrid nanofluid. Hybrid nanofluid is composed of iron-oxide and copper nanoparticles suspended in water. Effects of Hall current, Ohmic heating and mixed convection are taken into account. Governing equations are simplified by utilizing lubrication approach. The numerical solutions for resulting system of differential equations are obtained with the aid of Shooting method. Attention has been given to the analysis of hybrid nanoparticles, Hall parameter and Grashoff number on entropy generation, heat transfer rate, velocity profile and pressure gradient. Outcomes reveal that insertion of nanoparticles decreases the temperature of hybrid nanofluid. It is found that increase in Hall parameter reduces the heat transfer rate at wall. Increment in Hall parameter reduces the entropy generation. Velocity and pressure gradient increases by enhancing Grashoff number. It is believed that the present flow model can prove useful in improving the efficiency of similar thermodynamical systems.  相似文献

An analysis is made to study the three-dimensional MHD free convection flow in a vertical channel through a porous medium with heat source and chemical reaction. The flow phenomenon is characterized by magnetic parameters (M), Darcy number (K p ), Reynolds number (R e ), source parameter (S), Grashof number for heat transfer (G r ), Grashof number for mass transfer (G c ), Prandtl number (P r ), Schmidt number (S c ), and chemical reaction parameter (K c ). Approximate solutions of the velocity, temperature, and concentration are obtained using a perturbation technique. The effect of these parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentrations distribution is discussed and some interesting results are presented.  相似文献

The problem of hydromagnetic free convection flow over a moving infinite vertical plate with Newtonian heating, mass diffusion and chemical reaction in the presence of a heat source is completely solved. Radiative and porous effects are not taken into consideration but they can be immediately included by a simple rescaling of Prandtl number and magnetic parameter. Exact general solutions for the dimensionless velocity and concentration fields and the corresponding Sherwood number and skin friction coefficient are determined under integral form in terms of error function or complementary error function of Gauss. They satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions and can generate exact solutions for any problem with technical relevance of this type. As an interesting completion, uncommon in the literature, the differential equations which describe the thermal, concentration and momentum boundary layer, as well as the exact expressions for the thicknesses of thermal, concentration or velocity boundary layers were determined.Numerical results have shown that the thermal boundary layer thickness decreases for increasing values of Prandtl number and the concentration boundary layer thickness is decreasing with Schmidt number. Finally, for illustration, three special cases are considered and the influence of physical parameters on some fundamental motions is graphically underlined and discussed. The required time to reach the flow according with post-transient solution(the steady-state),for cosine/sine oscillating concentrations on the boundary is graphically determined. It is found that, the presence of destructive chemical reaction improves this time for increasing values of chemical reaction parameter.  相似文献

The hydromagnetic convective boundary layer flow past a stretching porous wall embedded in a porous medium with heat and mass transfer in the presence of a heat source and under the influence of a uniform magnetic field is studied. Exact solutions of the basic equations of motion, heat and mass transfer are obtained after reducing them to nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The reduced equations of heat and mass transfer are solved using a confluent hypergeometric function. The effects of the flow parameters such as a suction parameter (N), magnetic parameter (M), permeability parameter (K p ), wall temperature parameter (r), wall concentration parameter (n), and heat source/sink parameter (Q) on the dynamics are discussed. It is observed that the suction parameter appears in the boundary condition ensuring the variable suction at the surface. Transverse component of the velocity increases only when magnetic field strength exceeds certain value, but the thermal boundary layer thickness and concentration distribution increase for all values. Results presented in this paper are in good agreement with the work of the previous author and also in conformity with the established theory.  相似文献

In this article we investigate the flow of Sutterby liquid due to rotating stretchable disk. Mass and heat transport are analyzed through Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis. Further the effects of magnetic field, chemical reaction and heat source are also accounted. We employ transformation procedure to obtain a system of nonlinear ODE's. This system is numerically solved by Built-in-Shooting method. Impacts of different involved parameter on velocity, temperature and concentration are described. Velocity, concentration and temperature gradients are numerically computed. Obtained results show that velocity is reduced through material parameter. Temperature and concentration are enhanced with thermophoresis parameter.  相似文献

A three-dimensional mathematical model is developed to examine the flow of nonlinear thermal radiation Oldroyd-B nanofluid past a bidirectional linearly stretched surface in a porous medium. The flow is induced by temperature dependent thermal conductivity, chemical reaction and convective heat and mass conditions. Novel characteristics of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are accompanied by magnetohydrodynamic and heat generation/absorption.Self-similar transformations are employed to convert the system of nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of ordinary differential equations with high nonlinearity and are solved by strong analytic technique named as Homotopy Analysis method(HAM). Effects of varied arising parameters on involved distributions are reflected through graphical illustrations. From this study, it is perceived that strong magnetic field hinders the fluid's motion and leads to rise in temperature that eventually lowers heat transfer rate from the surface. Further, decrease in heat transfer rate is also observed for enhanced values of thermal radiation parameter. To validate our results, a comparison with already published paper in limiting case is also given and results are found in excellent oncurrence; hence reliable results are being presented.  相似文献

The aim of this research is to analyze the effects of mass transfer on second grade fluid flow subjected to the heat transfer incorporated with the relaxation time to reach the state of equilibrium on or after the state of upheaval. A new heat model namely Cattaneo–Christov heat flux comprising the relaxation time is employed instead of very commonly used mundane model based on classical theory of heat flux. Flow is considered towards stretching cylinder in the existence of external magnetic field. Suitable transformations are first used to deduce the momentum, heat and concentration equations and are then solved analytically. The effects of physical quantities such as fluid parameter, magnetic field, Schmidt number, relaxation time, curvature parameter, Prandtl number and chemical reaction on momentum, temperature and concentration profile are examined graphically whereas for validation of results convergence analysis along with residual error are obtained numerically. A comparison of obtained results is also given with the existing literature as a limiting case of reported problem and are found an excellent agreement. The temperature profile indicates thinning effect for higher values of Prandtl number and relaxation time. It is also noted that the velocity increases with increasing values of fluid parameter whereas it declines for the case of magnetic field. This study can be used an application of central heating system and to measure the fast chemical reactions rates.  相似文献

A mathematical model is developed for steady state magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) heat and mass transfer flow along an inclined surface in an ocean MHD energy generator device with heat generation and thermo-diffusive (Soret) effects. The governing equations are transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equations with appropriate similarity variables. The emerging two-point boundary value problem is shown to depend on six dimensionless thermophysical parameters - magnetic parameter, Grashof number, Prandtl number, modified Prandtl number, heat source parameter and Soret number in addition to plate inclination. Numerical solutions are obtained for the nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations for momentum, energy and salinity (species) conservation, numerically, using the Nachtsheim–Swigert shooting iteration technique in conjunction with the Runge–Kutta sixth order iteration scheme. Validation is achieved with Nakamura's implicit finite difference method. Further verification is obtained via the semi-numerical Homotopy analysis method (HAM). With an increase in magnetic parameter, skin friction is depressed whereas it generally increases with heat source parameter. Salinity magnitudes are significantly reduced with increasing heat source parameter. Temperature gradient is decreased with Prandtl number and salinity gradient (mass transfer rate) is also reduced with modified Prandtl number. Furthermore, the flow is decelerated with increasing plate inclinations and temperature also depressed with increasing thermal Grashof number.  相似文献

Numerical investigation of the dusty Williamson fluid with the dependency of time has been done in current disquisition. The flow of multiphase liquid/particle suspension saturating the medium is caused by stretching of porous surface. The influence of magnetic field and heat generation/absorption is observed. It is assumed that particle has a spherical shape and distributed uniformly in fluid matrix. The unsteady two-dimensional problems are modeled for both fluid and particle phase using conservation of mass, momentum and heat transfer. The finalized model generates the non-dimensioned parameters, namely Weissenberg number, unsteadiness parameter, magnetic parameter, heat generation/absorption parameter, Prandtl number, fluid particle interaction parameter, and mass concentration parameters. The numerical solution is obtained. Locality of skin friction and Nusselt number is deliberately focused to help of tables and graphs. While inferencing the current article it is clearly observed that increment of Williamson parameter, unsteadiness parameter, magnetic parameter, volume fraction parameter, and mass concentration parameter reduces the velocity profile of fluid and solid particles as well. And increment of Prandtl number, unsteadiness parameter, volume fraction parameter, and mass concentration parameter reduces the temperature profile of fluid and solid particles as well.  相似文献

This article presents an investigation of heat transfer in a porous medium adjacent to a vertical plate. The porous medium is subjected to a magnetohydrodynamic effect and suction velocity. The governing equations are nondepersonalized and converted into ordinary differential equations. The resulting equations are solved with the help of the finite difference method. The impact of various parameters, such as the Prandtl number, Grashof number, permeability parameter, radiation parameter, Eckert number, viscous dissipation parameter, and magnetic parameter, on fluid flow characteristics inside the porous medium is discussed. Entropy generation in the medium is analyzed with respect to various parameters, including the Brinkman number and Reynolds number. It is noted that the velocity profile decreases in magnitude with respect to the Prandtl number, but increases with the radiation parameter. The Eckert number has a marginal effect on the velocity profile. An increased radiation effect leads to a reduced thermal gradient at the hot surface.  相似文献

This paper investigate the effect of slip boundary condition, thermal radiation, heat source, Dufour number, chemical reaction and viscous dissipation on heat and mass transfer of unsteady free convective MHD flow of a viscous fluid past through a vertical plate embedded in a porous media. Numerical results are obtained for solving the nonlinear governing momentum, energy and concentration equations with slip boundary condition, ramped wall temperature and ramped wall concentration on the surface of the vertical plate. The influence of emerging parameters on velocity, temperature and concentration fields are shown graphically.  相似文献

Heat transfer in a time-dependent flow of incompressible viscoelastic Maxwell fluid induced by a stretching surface has been investigated under the effects of heat radiation and chemical reaction. The magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the direction of flow. Velocity, temperature, and concentration are functions of z and t for the modeled boundary-layer flow problem. To have a hereditary effect, the time-fractional Caputo derivative is incorporated. The pressure gradient is assumed to be zero. The governing equations are non-linear, coupled and Boussinesq approximation is assumed for the formulation of the momentum equation. To solve the derived model numerically, the spatial variables are discretized by employing the finite element method and the Caputo-time derivatives are approximated using finite difference approximations. It reveals that the fractional derivative strengthens the flow field. We also observe that the magnetic field and relaxation time suppress the velocity. The lower Reynolds number enhances the viscosity and thus motion weakens slowly. The velocity initially decreases with increasing unsteadiness parameter δ. Temperature is an increasing function of heat radiation parameter but a decreasing one for the volumetric heat absorption parameter. The increasing value of the chemical reaction parameter decreases concentration. The Prandtl and Schmidt numbers adversely affect the temperature and concentration profiles respectively. The fractional parameter changes completely the velocity profiles. The Maxwell fluids modeled by the fractional differential equations flow faster than the ordinary fluid at small values of the time t but become slower for large values of the time t.  相似文献

The present study investigates a Casson fluid flow in the presence of free convection of combined heat and mass transfer toward an unsteady permeable stretching sheet with thermal radiation, viscous dissipation and chemical reaction. The governing partial differential equations are reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations and then solved by an efficient Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method. The dimensionless velocity is decreased by increasing values of the chemical reaction and magnetic parameter while fluid temperature is significantly reduced by increasing values of the Prandtl number. The heat transfer rate is reduced with increasing values of thermal radiation and magnetic parameters.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of variable fluid properties on heat transfer in MHD Casson fluid melts over a moving surface in a porous medium in the presence of the radiation are examined. The relevant similarity transformations are used to reduce the governing equations into a system of highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations and those are then solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlbergmethod. The effects of different controlling parameters, namely, the Casson parameter, melting and radiation parameters, Prandtl number, magnetic field, porosity, viscosity and the thermal conductivity parameters on flow and heat transfer are investigated. The numerical results for the dimensionless velocity and temperature as well as friction factor and reducedNusselt number are presented graphically and discussed. It is found that the rate of heat transfer increases as the Casson parameter increases.  相似文献

The paper investigates the effects of heat transfer in MHD flow of viscoelastic stratified fluid in porous medium on a parallel plate channel inclined at an angle θ. A laminar convection flow for incompressible conducting fluid is considered. It is assumed that the plates are kept at different temperatures which decay with time. The partial differential equations governing the flow are solved by perturbation technique. Expressions for the velocity of fluid and particle phases, temperature field, Nusselt number, skin friction and flow flux are obtained within the channel. The effects of various parameters like stratification factor, magnetic field parameter, Prandtl number on temperature field, heat transfer, skin friction, flow flux, velocity for both the fluid and particle phases are displayed through graphs and discussed numerically.  相似文献
