In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of solutions to the N-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)up with u(x)>0, uH1(RN), N?3 and . When the potential V(x) decays at infinity faster than −2(1+|x|) and K(x)?0 is permitted to be unbounded, we will show that the positive H1(RN)-solutions exist if it is assumed that G(x) has local minimum points for small ε>0, here with denotes the ground energy function which is introduced in [X. Wang, B. Zeng, On concentration of positive bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with competing potential functions, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 28 (1997) 633-655]. In addition, when the potential V(x) decays to zero at most like (1+|x|)α with 0<α?2, we also discuss the existence of positive H1(RN)-solutions for unbounded K(x). Compared with some previous papers [A. Ambrosetti, A. Malchiodi, D. Ruiz, Bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with potentials vanishing at infinity, J. Anal. Math. 98 (2006) 317-348; A. Ambrosetti, D. Ruiz, Radial solutions concentrating on spheres of NLS with vanishing potentials, Proc. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh Sect. A 136 (2006) 889-907; A. Ambrosetti, Z.Q. Wang, Nonlinear Schrödinger equations with vanishing and decaying potentials, Differential Integral Equations 18 (2005) 1321-1332] and so on, we remove the restrictions on the potential function V(x) which decays at infinity like (1+|x|)α with 0<α?2 as well as the restrictions on the boundedness of K(x)>0. Therefore, we partly answer a question posed in the reference [A. Ambrosetti, A. Malchiodi, Concentration phenomena for NLS: Recent results and new perspectives, preprint, 2006].  相似文献

We study the nonlinear problem −Δu+V(x)=f(x,u), xRN, lim|x|→∞u(x)=0, where the Schrödinger operator −Δ+V is semibounded and the nonlinearity f is linearly bounded. We establish compactness of Palais-Smale sequences and Cerami sequences for the associated energy functional under general spectral-theoretic assumptions. Applying these results, we obtain existence of three nontrivial solutions if the energy functional has a mountain-pass geometry.  相似文献

Let V(x) be a non-negative, bounded potential in RN, N?3 and p supercritical, . We look for positive solutions of the standing-wave nonlinear Schrödinger equation ΔuV(x)u+up=0 in RN, with u(x)→0 as |x|→+∞. We prove that if V(x)=o(−2|x|) as |x|→+∞, then for N?4 and this problem admits a continuum of solutions. If in addition we have, for instance, V(x)=O(|x|μ) with μ>N, then this result still holds provided that N?3 and . Other conditions for solvability, involving behavior of V at ∞, are also provided.  相似文献

We consider stationary solutions of a spatially inhomogeneous Allen-Cahn-type nonlinear diffusion equation in one space dimension. The equation involves a small parameter ε, and its nonlinearity has the form h(x)2f(u), where h(x) represents the spatial inhomogeneity and f(u) is derived from a double-well potential with equal well-depth. When ε is very small, stationary solutions develop transition layers. We first show that those transition layers can appear only near the local minimum and local maximum points of the coefficient h(x) and that at most a single layer can appear near each local minimum point of h(x). We then discuss the stability of layered stationary solutions and prove that the Morse index of a solution coincides with the total number of its layers that appear near the local maximum points of h(x). We also show the existence of stationary solutions having clustering layers at the local maximum points of h(x).  相似文献

We study the existence, multiplicity and shape of positive solutions of the system −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)g(v), −ε2Δv+V(x)v=H(x)f(u) in RN, as ε→0. We construct spike layered solutions for the semilinear elliptic equation −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)up−1 on a domain ΩRN which may be bounded or unbounded. The solutions concentrate simultaneously on a finite number of m-dimensional spheres in Ω. These spheres accumulate as ε→0 at a prescribed sphere in Ω whose location is determined by the potential functions V,K.  相似文献

Assume that Ω is a bounded domain in RN (N?3) with smooth boundary ∂Ω. In this work, we study existence and uniqueness of blow-up solutions for the problem −Δp(u)+c(x)|∇u|p−1+F(x,u)=0 in Ω, where 2?p. Under some conditions related to the function F, we give a sufficient condition for existence and nonexistence of nonnegative blow-up solutions. We present comparison, uniqueness and existence results for unbounded solutions of a viscous Hamilton-Jacobi or eikonal equation. The equation includes an unbounded potential term V(x) subject to a quadratic upper bound. The results are obtained through a tailor-made change of variables in combination with the Hopf-Cole transformation. An integral representation formula for the solution of the Cauchy problem is derived in the case where V(x)=ω2|x|2/2.  相似文献

We are mainly concerned with existence, non-existence and the behavior at infinity of non-negative blow-up entire solutions of the equation Δu=ρ(x)f(u) in RN. No monotonicity condition is assumed upon f and, in fact, we obtain solutions with a prescribed behavior both at infinity and at the origin. The method used to get existence is based upon lower and upper solutions techniques while for non-existence we explore radial symmetry, estimates on an associated integral equation and the Keller-Osserman condition.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the dynamics of N two-dimensional boson systems interacting through a pair potential N-1Va(xi-xj) where Va(x) = a-2V (x/a). It is well known that the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation is a nonlinear Schrdinger equation and the GP hierarchy is an infinite BBGKY hierarchy of equations so that if ut solves the GP equation, then the family of k-particle density matrices {k ut, k ≥ 1} solves the GP hierarchy. Denote by ψN,t the solution to the N-particle Schrdinger equation. Under the assumption that a = N-ε for 0 ε 3/4, we prove that as N →∞ the limit points of the k-particle density matrices of ψN,t are solutions of the GP hierarchy with the coupling constant in the nonlinear term of the GP equation given by ∫V (x) dx.  相似文献

We study the multiplicity of positive solutions and their limiting behavior as ? tends to zero for a class of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system in RN. We relate the number of positive solutions to the topology of the set of minimum points of the least energy function for ? sufficiently small. We consider the quasilinear Schrödinger equations of the form ?ε2Δu + V(x)u ? ε2Δ(u2)u = g(u), x∈ RN, where ε > 0 is a small parameter, the nonlinearity g(u) ∈ C1(R) is an odd function with subcritical growth and V(x) is a positive Hölder continuous function which is bounded from below, away from zero, and infΛV(x) < inf?ΛV(x) for some open bounded subset Λ of RN. We prove that there is an ε0 > 0 such that for all ε ∈ (0, ε0], the above mentioned problem possesses a sign-changing solution uε which exhibits concentration profile around the local minimum point of V(x) as ε → 0+.  相似文献

In this paper we first show that the total energy of solutions for a semilinear system of elastic waves in Rn with a potential type of damping decays in an algebraic rate to zero. We study the critical potential case and we assume that the initial data have a compact support. An application for the Euler-Poisson-Darboux type dissipation V(t,x) is obtained and in this case the compactness of the support on the initial data is not necessary. Finally, we shall discuss the energy concentration region for the linear system of elastic waves in an exterior domain.  相似文献
