The temperature dependence of the electric field gradient (efg) in TbCoO3 perovskite was measured by perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique using 111Cd and181Ta nuclear probes. The radioactive parent nuclei 111In and 181Hf were introduced into the compound through a chemical process during sample preparation. The electric quadrupole interactions at 111Cd show two different sites, assigned to probe substituting Tb and Co atoms. The temperature dependence of quadrupole frequencies show sharp discontinuities which have been interpreted as thermally activated spin state transitions from low-spin ground state configuration to the intermediate-spin state and from intermediate-spin to high-spin state of Co3?+? ion. For 181Ta only one interaction was observed, which was assigned to probe at Co site. Indication of a Jahn–Teller distortion, which stabilizes the intermediate-spin state with orbital ordering, is also pointed out. No magnetic order was observed till 77 K.  相似文献

Perturbed angular correlation (PAC) measurements have been carried out in the antiferromagnetic GdCrO3 perovskite oxide using 111In (111Cd) and 181Hf(181Ta) nuclear probes. The radioactive parent nuclei 111In and 181Hf were introduced in the compound through a chemical process during sample preparation. The PAC measurements were carried out in the temperature range 20–300 K. Measurements with the 181Ta indicated a unique quadrupole interaction above 170 K and a combined electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole interactions below this temperature. The observed interaction was assigned to the probe nuclei substituting Cr sites. Measurements with 111Cd showed two quadrupole interactions. Only one of the fractions however, showed a combined electric and magnetic interaction in the temperature rage 20–170 K which was assigned to 111Cd probe substituting Cr site. The other fraction was attributed to the Gd site. The present results are compared with those of LaCrO3 and NdCrO3.  相似文献

Hyperfine interactions were studied in the intermetallic compound GdRh2Si2 by perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique using 181Hf(181Ta) probe nuclei. The measurements were performed in the temperature range 15–285 K. The PAC spectra above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of the GdRh2Si2 compound (T N ~ 106 K), were analyzed using a model that included only electric quadrupole interactions. The observed major fraction was assigned to the 181Hf(181Ta) probe substituting the Gd atoms. The PAC spectra below Néel temperature were analyzed using combined electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole interactions. The Bhf value at Gd, measured at 15 K was found to be 1.4(1) T which, is smaller, when compared with the values obtained in this compound using other nuclear probes, 155Gd (Bhf ~ 30 T) and 140Ce (Bhf ~ 26 T). The present result using 181Hf(181Ta) probe is quite interesting since it shows that the contribution to Bhf at Gd due the host is smaller than other components which contribute to the hyperfine field. The temperature dependence of Bhf shows an anomalous behavior.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole hyperfine interactions for 181Hf/181Ta and for 111In/111Cd probes in polycrystalline Zr3Al2 and Hf3Al2 compounds were measured in the temperature range 24–1100 K. The hyperfine quadrupole interaction parameters were determined after different doping techniques and heat treatments of the samples.181Hf/181Ta was found to substitute the Hf/Zr sites and the 111In/111Cd impurities appear to substitute both the 8(j) Al sites and the three nonequivalent Hf/Zr sites.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole interaction of181Ta in Y2O3, CuO, and in the YBa2Cu3O7−δ high temperature superconductors, doped with181Hf, has been studied by the time-differential perturbed angular correlation method (TDPAC). In Y2O3, two distinct fractions of the probe nuclei were detected, which were attributed to the substitutional positions at the two cation sites in the lattice. In CuO, and in the ceramic samples, broad distributions of quadrupole frequencies were observed. Possible configurations of the probe nuclei in these substances are discussed.  相似文献

Role of Zr atom on the quadrupole interaction of 181Ta in rutile TiO2 has been investigated by time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) study. The quadrupole frequency remains same as that in the pure rutile TiO2 but its distribution increases with the amount of Zr. This indicates a metal-metal interaction between probe atom and Zr-atom in the nearest neighbour.  相似文献

The nuclear quadrupole interaction of the I=5/2 state of the nuclear probes 111Cd and 181Ta in the anatase and rutile polymorphs of bulk TiO2 was studied using the time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) method. The fast–slow coincidence setup is based on CAMAC electronics. For anatase, the asymmetry parameter of the electric field gradient was η=0.22(1) and a quadrupole interaction frequency of ωQ=44.01(3) Mrad/s was obtained for 181Ta. For rutile, the respective values are η=0.56(1) and ωQ=130.07(9) Mrad/s. The values for rutile match closely with the literature values. In case of the 111Cd probe produced from the beta decay of 111Ag, the quadrupole interaction frequency for anatase was negligibly small as indicated by an unperturbed angular correlation in anatase. On the other hand for rutile the quadrupole frequency is ωQ=61.74(2) Mrad/s and the asymmetry parameter η=0.23(1) for the 111Cd probe. The results are interpreted in terms of the surrounding atom positions in the lattice and the charge state of the probe nucleus.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the electric quadrupole interaction of181Ta in the Hf?As system has been investigated using the time-differential perturbed angular correlation technique. The sample was prepared by thermal diffusion of181Hf into arsenic metal and the measurements were made at 77, 300, 423, 573 and 673 K. Two quadrupole interaction frequencies were observed which had considerably high values and showed little variation over the entire temperature range. A TEM analysis of the sample showed the presence of two intermetallic compounds HfAs and HfAs2 to which the two frequencies were assigned.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the hyperfine parameters in a powder sample of the Sr0.88Ba0.12HfO3 compound has been investigated for the first time using perturbed angular correlation spectroscopy. The time spectra were measured as a function of the temperature from 293 to 1273 K. Activated 181Ta nuclei were used as hyperfine probes at the Hf sites. The analysis of the time spectra indicates the presence of two different surroundings for the Ta probes. The most populated site (f 1≈75% at laboratory temperature) was fitted with the usual static quadrupole hyperfine interactions found in most perovskite-type compounds. The resulting quadrupole frequency is ω Q ≈24 Mrad/s at this temperature. This frequency continuously decreases to nearly 9 Mrad/s at 1273 K. Its line width temperature dependence displays three regions and the changes observed probably correspond to phase transitions. The other site has a large and temperature independent quadrupole frequency ω Q ≈120 Mrad/s that reversibly transforms into the first at high temperatures and probably originates from some defect in the structure. This revised version was published online in September 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The interaction of dilute181Ta in Ta with interstitial oxygen has been investigated via the γ-γ TDPAC-technique applied to the 482 keV state in181Ta. The trapping of Oxygen leading to a quadrupole interaction frequency νQ=580(5) MHz with an asymmetry parameter of η-0.37 (1) has been observed after melting the radioactive parent isotope181Hf with Ta. The temperature dependence of the quadrupole interaction frequency between 17 K and 293 K was found to be very weak whereas η varied by about 10%. In a single crystal experiment the orientation of the three principal axes of the electric field gradient leading to νQ was determined. The Vzz-axis points in <110>, the Vyy-axis in <100> and the Vxx-axis in <110> direction. These results can be understood in the charge cloud model, suggested by Wrede et al. /1/ for a similar situation found in the HfNb system.  相似文献

The hyperfine interaction of 181Ta diluted in chromium has been measured as a function of temperature by time-differential perturbed angular correlations. A quadrupole interaction which varies dramatically with temperature is present, superposing with a magnetic interaction below the Néel temperature.  相似文献

The hyperfine interaction experienced by 181Ta nuclei in the intermetallic compounds ZrNi5, HfNi5, and Hf2Ni7 has been investigated by perturbed angular correlation (PAC) spectroscopy. At temperatures T≥15 K the 181Ta angular correlation of appropriately annealed ZrNi5 and HfNi5 is unperturbed, indicating the absence of a magnetic hyperfine interaction. This observation rules out the possibility of spontaneous magnetic order of ZrNi5 and HfNi5 recently proposed in the literature. The temperature dependence of the electric quadrupole interaction of 181Ta in Hf2Ni7 suggests the existence of a reversible phase transformation at T≥500 K.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole interactions at181Ta probe nuclei in a cubic Hf2Fe lattice were studied by the TDPAC method. In addition, the crystalline structure study of the Hf2Fe compound was performed. The results of the EQI measurement show the presence of two independent interactions, one at low frequency, characterized by ω Q (1) =33 Mrad/s and δ=30%, and the other at high frequency described by ω Q (2) =207 ± 2 Mrad/s and δ=4%. Both interactions are found to be compatible with the crystalline structure established in this investigation. The large temperature dependence of the electric field gradient of the second interaction in the range from 78K to 1183K was determined. The change in the EFG follows the empiricalT 3/2 -relation.  相似文献

HighT c superconductivity in the YBaCuO superconductor has been investigated through the quadrupole interaction of the probe nuclei99Tc. The quadrupole interactions were measured by the TDPAC method from 77 to 296 K. The probe nuclei99Tc were introduced into the YBaCuO superconducting specimen by diffusion. The derived electric quadrupole interaction parameters show that the probe nuclei are subject to a unique EFG interaction and occupy a substitutional lattice site in the YBaCuO superconductor. A strong EFG of 1019 V/cm2 was observed. The temperature dependence of the EFG exhibits a linear decrease with temperature increase. Anomalies of both EFG and ν were found in the superconducting transition temperature region. The role of the oxygen vacancies in the Cu−O chains is discussed.  相似文献

The differential perturbed angular correlation spectrum of 181Ta in Rb2HfF6 was studied as a function of temperature. The results indicate the existence of a temperature dependent mixture of pure static quadrupole interactions and pure multipole relaxation due to fluctuating electric quadrupole interactions.  相似文献

The hyperfine interactions at 181Ta ions on Fe3+ sites in α-Fe2O3 (hematite) were studied in the temperature range 11–1100 K by means of the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique. The 181Hf(β)181Ta probe nuclei were introduced chemically into the sample during the preparation. The hyperfine interaction measurements allow to observe the magnetic phase transition and to characterize the supertransferred hyperfine magnetic field Bhf and the electric field gradient (EFG) at the impurity sites. The angles between Bhf and the principal axes of the EFG were determined. The Morin transition was also observed. The results are compared with those of similar experiments carried out using 111Cd probe. aAlso at Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina.  相似文献
