We study the properties of an approximation of the Laplace operator with Neumann boundary conditions using volume penalization. For the one-dimensional Poisson equation we compute explicitly the exact solution of the penalized equation and quantify the penalization error. Numerical simulations using finite differences allow then to assess the discretization and penalization errors. The eigenvalue problem of the penalized Laplace operator with Neumann boundary conditions is also studied. As examples in two space dimensions, we consider a Poisson equation with Neumann boundary conditions in rectangular and circular domains.  相似文献

A boundary-value problem of finding eigenvalues is considered for the negative Laplace operator in a disk with Neumann boundary condition on almost all the circle except for a small arc of vanishing length, where the Dirichlet boundary condition is imposed. A complete asymptotic expansion with respect to a parameter (the length of the small arc) is constructed for an eigenvalue of this problem that converges to a double eigenvalue of the Neumann problem.  相似文献

We investigate solvability of a fractional analogue of the Neumann problem for the Laplace equation. As a boundary operator we consider operators of fractional differentiation in the Hadamard sense. The problem is solved by reduction to an integral Fredholm equation. A theorem on existence and uniqueness of the problem solution is proved.  相似文献

We study the properties of the Lagrange multiplier for an Allen–Cahn equation with a double obstacle potential. Here, the dynamic boundary condition, including the Laplace–Beltrami operator on the boundary, is investigated. We then establish the singular limit of our system and clarify the limit of the solution and the Lagrange multiplier of our problem. We present remarks on a trace problem as well as on the Neumann boundary condition. Moreover, we describe a numerical experiment for a problem with Neumann boundary condition using the Lagrange multiplier. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. The resolution of boundary value problems by integral equations is usually based on isomorphisms between the solution of the boundary value problem and boundary data. Using an abstract Green formula in a Hilbert space framework, we prove these isomorphisms. Many applications are given, like the Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the Laplace operator, as well as the clamped and free plate problems in the plane.  相似文献

The scalar Oseen equation represents a linearized form of the Navier Stokes equations. We present an explicit potential theory for this equation and solve the exterior Dirichlet and interior Neumann boundary value problems via a boundary integral equations method in spaces of continuous functions on a C2-boundary, extending the classical approach for the isotropic selfadjoint Laplace operator to the anisotropic non-selfadjoint scalar Oseen operator. A boundary value problem for the Laplace equation with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions on an equilateral triangle is transformed to a problem of the same type on a rectangle. This enables us to use, e.g., the cyclic reduction method for computing the numerical solution of the problem. By the same transformation, explicit formulae for all eigenvalues and all eigenfunctions of the corresponding operator are obtained.  相似文献

We consider a boundary value problem for the Laplace operator in a model domain periodically perforated along the boundary. We assume that the homogeneous Neumann condition is posed on the exterior boundary and the homogeneous Dirichlet condition is posed on the boundary of the cavities. We construct and justify the asymptotic expansions of eigenelements of the boundary value problem.  相似文献

We study a spectral problem related to the Laplace operator in a singularly perturbed periodic waveguide. The waveguide is a quasi-cylinder which contains a periodic arrangement of inclusions. On the boundary of the waveguide, we consider both Neumann and Dirichlet conditions. We prove that provided the diameter of the inclusion is small enough the spectrum of Laplace operator contains band gaps, i.e. there are frequencies that do not propagate through the waveguide. The existence of the band gaps is verified using the asymptotic analysis of elliptic operators.  相似文献

In this paper, we study natural boundary reduction for Laplace equation with Dirichletor Neumann boundary condition in a three-dimensional unbounded domain, which is theoutside domain of a prolate spheroid. We express the Poisson integral formula and naturalintegral operator in a series form explicitly. Thus the original problem is reduced to aboundary integral equation on a prolate spheroid. The variational formula for the reducedproblem and its well-posedness are discussed. Boundary element approximation for thevariational problem and its error estimates, which have relation to the mesh size andthe terms after the series is truncated, are also presented. Two numerical examples arepresented to demonstrate the effectiveness and error estimates of this method.  相似文献

We consider the data completion problem for the Laplace equation in a cylindrical domain. The Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions are given on one face of the cylinder while there is no condition on the other face. This Cauchy problem has been known since Hadamard (1953) to be ill-posed. Here it is set as an optimal control problem with a regularized cost function. We use the factorization method for elliptic boundary value problems. For each set of Cauchy data, to obtain the estimate of the missing data one has to solve a parabolic Cauchy problem in the cylinder and a linear equation. The operator appearing in these problems satisfy a Riccati equation that does not depend on the data. To cite this article: A. Ben Abda et al., C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I 347 (2009).  相似文献

We consider a singularly perturbed boundary-value eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator in a cylinder with rapidly alternating type of the boundary condition on the lateral surface. The change of the boundary conditions is realized by splitting the lateral surface into many narrow strips on which the Dirichlet and Neumann conditions alternate. We study the case in which the averaged problem contains the Dirichlet boundary condition on the lateral surface. In the case of strips with slowly varying width we construct the first terms of the asymptotic expansions of eigenfunctions; moreover, in the case of strips with rapidly varying width we obtain estimates for the convergence rate.  相似文献

We give a representation of the solution of the Neumann problem for the Laplace operator on the n-dimensional unit ball in terms of the solution of an associated Dirichlet problem. The representation is extended to other operators besides the Laplacian, to smooth simply connected planar domains, and to the infinite-dimensional Laplacian on the unit ball of an abstract Wiener space, providing in particular an explicit solution for the Neumann problem in this case. As an application, we derive an explicit formula for the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator, which may be of independent interest.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive a sampling method to solve the inverse shape problem of recovering an inclusion with a generalized impedance condition from electrostatic Cauchy data. The generalized impedance condition is a second order differential operator applied to the boundary of the inclusion. We assume that the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann mapping is given from measuring the current on the outer boundary from an imposed voltage. A simple numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed inversion method for recovering the inclusion. We also consider the inverse impedance problem of determining the impedance parameters for a known material from the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann mapping assuming the inclusion has been reconstructed where uniqueness for the reconstruction of the coefficients is proven.  相似文献

Using Babenko’s profound ideas, we construct a fundamentally new unsaturated numerical method for solving the spectral problem for the operator of the exterior axisymmetric Neumann problem for Laplace’s equation. We estimate the deviation of the first eigenvalue of the discretized problem from the eigenvalue of the Neumann operator. More exactly, the unsaturated discretization of the spectral Neumann problem yields an algebraic problem with a good matrix, i.e., a matrix inheriting the spectral properties of the Neumann operator. Thus, its spectral portrait lacks “parasitic” eigenvalues provided that the discretization error is sufficiently small. The error estimate for the first eigenvalue involves efficiently computable parameters, which in the case of C -smooth data provides a foundation for a guaranteed success.  相似文献

Here we study Dirichlet and Neumann problems for a special Helmholtz equation on an annulus. Our main aim is to measure smoothness of solutions for the boundary datum in Besov spaces. We shall use operator theory to solve this problem. The most important advantage of this technique is that it enables to consider equations in vector-valued settings. It is interesting to note that optimal regularity of this problem will be a special case of our main result.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to solve exterior problems in the half-space for the Laplace operator. We give existence and unicity results in weighted Lp's theory with 1<p<∞. This paper extends the studies done in [C. Amrouche, V. Girault, J. Giroire, Dirichlet and Neumann exterior problems for the n-dimensional Laplace operator, an approach in weighted Sobolev spaces, J. Math. Pures Appl. 76 (1) (1997) 55-81] with Dirichlet and Neumann conditions.  相似文献

In this Note, we present a numerical method to simulate the motion of solid particles in a moving viscous fluid. The fluid is supposed to be Newtonian and incompressible. The Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations is discretized at the first order in time, as are the equations for the solid bodies. The advection term is taken into account by a method of characteristics. The variational formulation of the coupled problem is then established, and the boundary integrals expressing the hydrodynamical forces are eliminated. By introduction of an appropriate Finite Element approximation, a symmetric linear system is obtained. This system is solved by an inexact Uzawa algorithm, preconditionned by a Laplace operator with Neumann boundary conditions on the pressure. Numerical results are presented, for 2 and 100 particles: The Reynolds number in both cases is of the order of 100.  相似文献

We consider a linear integral equation with a hypersingular integral treated in the sense of the Hadamard finite value. This equation arises in the solution of the Neumann boundary value problem for the Laplace equation with a representation of a solution in the form of a double-layer potential. We consider the case in which the interior or exterior boundary value problem is solved in a domain; whose boundary is a smooth closed surface, and an integral equation is written out on that surface. For the integral operator in that equation, we suggest quadrature formulas like the method of vortical frames with a regularization, which provides its approximation on the entire surface for the use of a nonstructured partition. We construct a numerical scheme for the integral equation on the basis of suggested quadrature formulas, prove an estimate for the norm of the inverse matrix of the related system of linear equations and the uniform convergence of numerical solutions to the exact solution of the hypersingular integral equation on the grid.  相似文献
