In this study, radiation synthesis and characterization of swelling behavior and network structure of poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA), and poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate-co-N-vinyl 2-pyrrolidone) (P(DMAEMA-co-VP)), hydrogels were investigated. PDMAEMA and P(DMAEMA-co-VP) hydrogels in the rod forms were prepared by irradiating the ternary mixtures of DMAEMA/VP/cross-linking agent, ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), by gamma rays at ambient temperature. In composition ranges where the three components were completely miscible, water was also added to the ternary mixture to provide the formation of homogeneous polymerization and gelation. The influence of irradiation dose, comonomer, VP, and cross-linking agent, EGDMA, content on the total percentage gelation and monomer conversion were investigated. The effect of pH and temperature on the swelling behavior of hydrogels have also been examined. Hydrogels showed typical pH response and temperature responses, such as low-pH and low temperature swelling and high-pH and high temperature deswelling. Polymer-solvent interaction parameter (χ) and enthalpy and entropy changes appearing in the χ parameter for the P(DMAEMA-co-VP)-water system were determined by using Flory-Rehner theory of swelling equilibrium. The negative values for ΔH and ΔS indicate that prepared pure PDMAEMA and P(DMAEMA-co-VP) hydrogels have lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and Flory-Rehner theory of swelling equilibrium provides a satisfactory agreement to the experimental swelling data of the hydrogels.  相似文献

In this study, swelling behavior and mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte cationic hydrogels of poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA), and poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) (P(DMAEMA-co-BMA)), were investigated. Hydrogels were prepared by free-radical solution copolymerization of DMAEMA and BMA using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agent. Compression-strain measurements were used to analyze the mechanical properties of the hydrogels. It was found that increasing the amount of BMA comonomer in the gel structure increases the compression modulus of the material. The results of mechanical measurements were used to characterize the network structure of the hydrogels, namely the effective crosslinking density (. It was found that exceeds the theoretical crosslinking density (νt) calculated from the initial amount of EGDMA used for hydrogel synthesis. These hydrogels demonstrated dual sensitivity to both pH and temperature. It was shown that the pH-sensitive or temperature-sensitive phase transition behavior of the gels can be changed by changing the temperature or pH of the swelling medium at constant hydrogel composition. Increasing the temperature decreased the transition pH of the pH-sensitive phase transition. On the other hand, increasing the pH of the surrounding medium decreased the transition temperature of the temperature-sensitive phase transition. Incorporation of BMA in the gel structure has a significant effect on the transition point of the gel. Increasing the BMA content reduced the transition pH and temperature of the pH- and temperature-sensitive phase transition, respectively. The similar effect of increasing temperature or BMA content can be explained by the role of hydrophobicity in the phase transition behavior of hydrogels. Finally, the results of equilibrium swelling and compression-strain measurements were used to calculate the polymer-solvent interaction parameters of these hydrogels using the Flory-Rehner equation of equilibrium swelling.  相似文献

Dual temperature‐ and pH‐sensitive hydrogels composed of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐propanosulfonic acid (AMPS) were prepared by free‐radical crosslinking copolymerization in aqueous solution at 22 °C. The mole percent of AMPS in the comonomer feed was varied between 0.0 and 7.5, while the crosslinker ratio was fixed at 5.0/100. The effect of AMPS content on thermo‐ and pH‐ induced phase transitions as well as equilibrium swelling/deswelling, interior morphology and network structure was investigated. The volume phase transition temperature (VPT‐T) was determined by both swelling/deswelling measurements and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique. In addition, the volume phase transition pH (VPT‐pH) was detected from the derivative of the curves of the swelling ratio (dQv/dpH) versus pH. The polymer‐solvent interaction parameter (χ) and the average molecular mass between crosslinks ( ) of hydrogels were calculated from swelling ratios in buffer solutions at various pHs. The enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) changes appearing in the χ parameter of hydrogels were also determined by using the modified Flory–Rehner equation. The negative values for ΔH and ΔS indicated that the hydrogels had a negative temperature‐sensitive property in water, that is, swelling at a lower temperature and shrinking at a higher temperature. It was observed that the experimental swelling data of hydrogels at different temperature agreed with the modified Flory‐Rehner approach based on the affine network model. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] (1) and Fe[(CH3(CH2)17PO3)(H2O)] (2) were synthesized by reaction of FeCl2·6H2O and the relevant phosphonic acid in water in presence of urea and under inert atmosphere. The compounds were characterized by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, UV-visible and IR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of (1) was determined from X-ray single crystal diffraction studies at room temperature: monoclinic symmetry, space group P21, , , , and β=98.62(3)°. The compound is lamellar and the structure is hybrid, made of alternating inorganic and organic layers along the c direction. The inorganic layers consist of Fe(II) ions octahedrally coordinated by five phosphonate oxygen atoms and one from the water molecule, separated by bi-layers of propyl groups. A preliminary structure characterization of compound (2) suggests a similar layered structure, but with an interlayer spacing of 40.3 Å. The magnetic properties of the compounds were both studied by a dc and ac SQUID magnetometer. Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] (1) obeys the Curie-Weiss law at temperatures above 50 K (, ), indicating a Fe +II oxidation state, a high-spin d6 (S=2) electronic configuration and an antiferromagnetic exchange couplings between the near-neighbouring Fe(II) ions. Below , Fe[(CH3(CH2)2PO3)(H2O)] exhibits a weak ferromagnetism. The critical temperature of has been determined by ac magnetic susceptibility measurements. Compound (2) shows the same paramagnetic behaviour of the iron (II) propyl derivative. The values of C and θ were found to be and −44 K, respectively, thus suggesting the presence of Fe +II ion in the S=2 spin state and antiferromagnetic interactions between Fe(II) ions at low temperatures. Zero-field and field cooled magnetic susceptibility vs. T plots do not overlap below , suggesting the presence of an ordered magnetic state. The critical temperature, TN, has been located by the peaks at from the ac susceptibility (χ′and χ″) vs. T plots. Below TN hysteresis loops recorded in the temperature region show an S-shape, while below 15 K assume an ellipsoid form. They reveal that compound (2) is a weak ferromagnet. The critical temperature TN in these layered Fe(II) alkylphosphonates is independent of the distance between the inorganic layers.  相似文献

α-Ca3(BN2)2 crystallizes in the cubic system (space group: ) with one type of calcium ions disordered over of equivalent (8c) positions. An ordered low-temperature phase (β-Ca3(BN2)2) was prepared and found to crystallize in the orthorhombic system (space group: Cmca) with lattice parameters: , , and . Structure refinements on the basis of X-ray powder data have revealed that orthorhombic β-Ca3(BN2)2 corresponds to an ordered super-structure of cubic α-Ca3(BN2)2. The space group Cmca assigned for β-Ca3(BN2)2 is derived from by a group-subgroup relationship.DSC measurements and temperature-dependent in situ X-ray powder diffraction studies showed reversible phase transitions between β- and α-Ca3(BN2)2 with transition temperatures between 215 and 240 °C.The structure Sr3(BN2)2 was reported isotypic with α-Ca3(BN2)2 () with one type of strontium ions being disordered over of equivalent (2c) positions. In addition, a primitive () structure has been reported for Sr3(BN2)2. Phase stability studies on Sr3(BN2)2 revealed a phase transition between a primitive and a body-centred lattice around 820 °C. The experiments showed that both previously published structures are correct and can be assigned as α-Sr3(BN2)2 (, high-temperature phase), and β-Sr3(BN2)2 (, low-temperature phase).A comparison of Ca3(BN2)2 and Sr3(BN2)2 phases reveals that the different types of cation disordering present in both of the cubic α-phases () have a directing influence on the formation of two distinct (orthorhombic and cubic) low-temperature phases.  相似文献

The linear swelling ratio α and the effective network chain length N of a series of poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMAAm) hydrogels were investigated as a function of the gel preparation concentration . PDMAAm hydrogels were prepared at a fixed cross-linker ratio but at various initial monomer concentrations. It was found that α is not a monotonic function of . As is increased, α first decreases up to about and remains constant in a narrow range of , but then it increases continuously. The -dependence of α is due to the variation of the network chain length N depending on the gel preparation concentration. In the range of below 0.1, N follows the scaling relationship , while at higher concentrations, N varies only slightly with . The increase of α with N obeys the relation , as predicted by the Flory-Rehner theory.  相似文献

A second form of the literature-known layered weak ferromagnet Fe[(CH3PO3)(H2O)] has been isolated. The crystal structure determination of this new form (2) has been carried out at T=300, 200 and 130 K. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pmn21: a=5.7177(11), b=8.8093(18), , while form (1) crystallizes in the space group Pna21: a=17.58(2), b=4.814(1), . Mössbauer spectroscopy on form (2) has been performed in the temperature range 4-300 K; and, at , a drastic change in the quadrupole splitting (ΔE) and a broadening of the doublet components is noticed. But surprisingly, on cooling the crystal, no structural change is observed, which could account for the increase in ΔE. Below , 57Fe spectra transform into hyperfine splitting patterns which reveal a magnetically ordered state in agreement with the results of earlier magnetic susceptibility studies.  相似文献

A series of copolymeric hydrogels based on 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and epoxy methacrylate (EMA) were synthesized by bulk polymerization. Swelling behaviors and tensile properties of hydrogels were studied. Dynamic swelling behaviors of copolymeric hydrogels indicate that the swelling process of these polymers follows Fickian behavior. The equilibrium water content (EWC) decreased and volume fraction of polymer in hydrogel (?2) increased with EMA content increasing due to its hydrophobicity. The increase of ionic strength of swelling medium or temperature results in a decrease in EWC and an increase in values of ?2. Young’s modulus and tensile strength of hydrogels, as well as effective crosslink density (ve), increased as EMA content increased or ionic strength of swelling medium increased, attributing to increasing interaction between hydrophobic groups and polymer-polymer interaction with an increase in EMA content or in ionic strength. The polymer-solvent interaction parameter χ reflecting thermodynamic interaction was also studied. As EMA content, ionic strength of swelling medium or temperature increased, the values of χ increased. The values of χ and its two components χH and χS varied with increasing T. The negative values and trend of the enthalpy and entropy of dilution derived from values of χS and χH, could be explained on the basis of structuring of water through improved hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction.  相似文献

A ferroelectric crystal (C3N2H5)5Sb2Br11 has been synthesized. The single crystal X-ray diffraction studies (at 300, 155, 138 and 121 K) show that it is built up of discrete corner-sharing bioctahedra and highly disordered imidazolium cations. The room temperature crystal structure has been determined as monoclinic, space group, P21/n with: , and and β=96.19°. The crystal undergoes three solid-solid phase transitions: ) discontinuous, continuous and discontinuous. The dielectric and pyroelectric measurements allow us to characterize the low temperature phases III and IV as ferroelectric with the Curie point at 145 K and the saturated spontaneous polarization value of the order of along the a-axis (135 K). The ferroelectric phase transition mechanism at 145 K is due to the dynamics of imidazolium cations.  相似文献

The disordered structures and low temperature dielectric relaxation properties of Bi1.667Mg0.70Nb1.52O7 (BMN) and Bi1.67Ni0.75Nb1.50O7 (BNN) misplaced-displacive cubic pyrochlores found in the Bi2O3-MIIO-Nb2O5 (M=Mg, Ni) systems are reported. As for other recently reported Bi-pyrochlores, the metal ion vacancies are found to be confined to the pyrochlore A site. The B2O6 octahedral sub-structure is found to be fully occupied and well-ordered. Considerable displacive disorder, however, is found associated with the O′A2 tetrahedral sub-structure in both cases. The A-site ions were displaced from Wyckoff position 16d (, , ) to 96 h (, , ) while the O′ oxygen was shifted from position 8b (, , ) to Wyckoff position 32e (, , ). The refined displacement magnitudes off the 16d and 8b sites for the A and O′ sites were 0.408 Å/0.423 Å and 0.350 Å/0.369 Å for BMN/BNN, respectively.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of quasi-one-dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet Sr2Cu(PO4)2 were investigated by temperature and field dependence of AC susceptibility down to 0.03 K. A sharp peak was observed at on the temperature dependence of AC susceptibility indicating long-range magnetic ordering. Taking into account the exchange constant, (Hamiltonian =JSiSi+1), the ratio kBTN/J is 0.06%. Sr2Cu(PO4)2 is, therefore, one of the best one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet known so far.  相似文献

Magnetism for the LixMn2O4 samples with 0.07≤x≤1, which are prepared by a chemical reaction in HNO3 solution, is investigated by direct current susceptibility (χ) and muon-spin rotation/relaxation (μSR) measurements. The effective magnetic moment (μeff) of Mn ions decreases monotonically with decreasing x, indicating that Mn3+ ions with S=2 () are oxidized to Mn4+ ions with S=3/2 () with decreasing x. On the other hand, as x decreases from 1 to 0.6, the Curie-Weiss temperature (Θp) increases monotonically from ∼260 to 100 K, and then levels off to 100 K with further decreasing x. This indicates that the antiferromagnetic interaction is dominant in the whole x range. For the x=0.48 sample, the temperature dependence of χ in field-cooling mode clearly deviates from that in zero-field-cooling mode below ∼63 K (=Tm). Furthermore, the hysteresis loop is observed in the magnetization vs. field curve at 5 K. Since the zero-field μSR spectrum is well fitted by a strongly damped oscillation function, the Mn moments for the x=0.48 sample are in a highly disordered fashion down to the lowest temperature measured.  相似文献

Accurate profile analysis of X-ray diffraction data was carried out to settle recent dispute on the symmetry and crystal structures of the double perovskite Ba2LaIrO6. Even through careful comparison of the full-width at half-maximum values, we found no evidence for Ba2LaIrO6 adopting either monoclinic (I2/m) or mixed rhombohedral and monoclinic (I2/m) structures at room temperature, becoming triclinic at below about 200 K. The correct space group is just at temperatures between 82 and 653 K. Furthermore, the phase transition does occur in Ba2LaIrO6, but the transition temperature is found to be much higher than the reported value.  相似文献

Three new hydrated scandium selenites have been hydrothermally synthesized as single crystals and structurally and physically characterized. Sc2(SeO3)3·H2O crystallizes as a new structure type containing novel ScO7 pentagonal bipyramidal and ScO6+1 capped octahedral coordination polyhedra. Sc2(SeO3)3·3H2O contains typical ScO6 octahedra and is isostructural with its M2(SeO3)3·3H2O (M=Al, Cr, Fe, Ga) congeners. CsSc3(SeO3)4(HSeO3)2·2H2O contains near-regular ScO6 octahedra and has essentially the same structure as its indium-containing analogue. All three phases contain the expected pyramidal [SeO3]2- selenite groups. Crystal data: Sc2(SeO3)3·3H2O, Mr=524.85, trigonal, R3c (No. 161), , , , Z=6, R(F)=0.018, wR(F2)=0.036; Sc2(SeO3)3·H2O, Mr=488.82, orthorhombic, P212121 (No. 19), , , , , Z=4, R(F)=0.051, wR(F2)=0.086; CsSc3(SeO3)4(HSeO3)2·2H2O, Mr=1067.60, orthorhombic, Pnma (No. 62), , , , , Z=4, R(F)=0.035, wR(F2)=0.070.  相似文献

The two families of intermetallic phases REAuAl4Ge2 (1) (RE=Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er, Tm and Yb) and REAuAl4(AuxGe1−x)2 (2) (x=0.4) (RE=Ce and Eu) were obtained by the reactive combination of RE, Au and Ge in liquid aluminum. The structure of (1) adopts the space group R-3m (CeAuAl4Ge2, , ; NdAuAl4Ge2, , ; GdAuAl4Ge2, , ; ErAuAl4Ge2, , ). The structure of (2) adopts the tetragonal space group P4/mmm with lattice parameters: , for EuAuAl4(AuxGe1−x)2 (x=0.4). Both structure types present slabs of “AuAl4Ge2” or “AuAl4(AuxGe1−x)2” stacking along the c-axis with layers of RE atoms in between. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that the RE atoms (except for Ce and Eu) possess magnetic moments consistent with +3 species. The Ce atoms in CeAuAl4Ge2 and CeAuAl4(AuxGe1−x)2 (x=0.4) appear to be in a mixed +3/+4 valence state; DyAuAl4Ge2 undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition at 11 K and below this temperature exhibits metamagnetic behavior. The Eu atoms in EuAuAl4(AuxGe1−x)2 (x=0.4) appear to be in a 2+ oxidation state.  相似文献

Two alkali metal uranates Rb2U2O7 and Rb8U9O31 have been synthesized by solid state reaction at high temperature and their crystal structures determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data, collected with a three circles Brucker SMART diffractometer equipped by Mo(Kα) radiation and a charge-coupled device (CCD) detector. Their structures were solved using direct methods and Fourier difference techniques and refined by a least-square method on the basis of F2 for all unique reflections, with R1=0.043 for 53 parameters and 746 independent reflections with I?2σ(I) for Rb2U2O7, monoclinic symmetry, space group P21/c, , , , β=108.81(1)°, , , Z=2 and R1=0.036 for 141 parameters and 2065 independent reflections with I?2σ(I) for Rb8U9O31, orthorhombic, space group Pbna, , , , , , Z=4.The Rb2U2O7 structure presents a strong analogy with that of K2U2O7 and can be described by layers of distorted UO2(O4) octahedra built from dimeric units of edge shared octahedra further linked together by opposite corners. In Rb8U9O31 puckered layers are formed by the association of two different uranium polyhedra, pentagonal bipyramids and distorted octahedra. The structure of Rb8U9O31 is built from a regular succession of infinite ribbons similar to those observed in diuranates M2U2O7 (MK, Rb) and infinite three polyhedra wide ribbons , to create an original undulated sheets .For both compounds Rb+ ions occupy the interlayer space and exhibit comparable mobility with conductivity measurements indicating an Arrhenius-type behavior.  相似文献

NaBi(MoO4)2 has been characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction in the temperature and pressure ranges 13-297 K and 0-25 GPa, respectively. The domain structure developing below proves that NaBi(MoO4)2 undergoes a ferroelastic phase transition associated with tetragonal I41/a to monoclinic I2/a symmetry change. The character of the unit cell evolution as a function of temperature indicates a continuous transition with the spontaneous strain as an order parameter. The structural distortion, due to small displacements of Bi3+ and Na+ ions, develops slowly. Therefore the overall changes, as measured in single-crystal diffraction at 110 and 13 K, appear to be subtle. High-pressure powder X-ray diffraction shows that the elastic behaviour is anisotropic, the linear compressibility along the a- and c-axes of the tetragonal unit cell being βa=2.75(10)×10-3 and , respectively. The cell contraction, stronger along the c-axis, causes the distances between the MoO4 layers to be shortened. Consequently, the cation migration in the channels formed by MoO4 tetrahedra becomes hindered, and any symmetry lowering phase transition is not observed up to 25 GPa. The zero-pressure bulk modulus is , and its pressure derivative .  相似文献
