Let X be a Banach space; S and T bounded scalar-type operators in X. Define Δ on the space of bounded operators on X by ΔX = TX ? XS if X is a bounded operator. We set up a calculus for Δ which allows us to consider f(Δ), for f a complex-valued bounded Borel measurable function on the spectrum of Δ, as an operator in the space of bounded operators whose domain is a subspace of operators which we call measure generating. This calculus is used to obtain some results on when the kernel of Δ is a complemented subspace of the space of bounded operators on X.  相似文献

A subspace If(X) of the space of idempotent probability measures on a given compact space X is constructed. It is proved that if the initial compact space X is contractible, then If(X) is a contractible compact space as well. It is shown that the shapes of the compact spaces X and If(X) are equal. It is also proved that, given a compact space X, the compact space If(X) is an absolute neighborhood retract if and only if so is X.

Given a Banach space X and a bounded linear operator T on X, a subspace Y of X is almost invariant under T if TY í Y+F{TY\subseteq Y+F} for some finite-dimensional “error” F. In this paper, we study subspaces that are almost invariant under every operator in an algebra \mathfrak A{\mathfrak A} of operators acting on X. We show that if \mathfrak A{\mathfrak A} is norm closed then the dimensions of “errors” corresponding to operators in \mathfrak A{\mathfrak A} must be uniformly bounded. Also, if \mathfrak A{\mathfrak A} is generated by a finite number of commuting operators and has an almost invariant half-space (that is, a subspace with both infinite dimension and infinite codimension) then \mathfrak A{\mathfrak A} has an invariant half-space.  相似文献

Given a locally compact group G acting on a locally compact space X and a probability measure σ on G, a real Borel function f on X is called σ-harmonic if it satisfies the convolution equation . We give conditions for the absence of nonconstant bounded harmonic functions. We show that, if G is a union of σ-admissible neighbourhoods of the identity, relative to X, then every bounded σ-harmonic function on X is constant. Consequently, for spread out σ, the bounded σ-harmonic functions are constant on each connected component of a [SIN]-group and, if G acts strictly transitively on a splittable metric space X, then the bounded σ-harmonic functions on X are constant which extends Furstenberg’s result for connected semisimple Lie groups. Fredholm composition operators on spaces of holomorphic functions   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Composition operators on vector spaces of holomorphic functions are considered. Necessary conditions that range of the operator is of a finite codimension are given. As a corollary of the result it is shown that a composition operatorC on a certain Banach space of holomorphic functions on a strictly pseudoconvex domain withC 2 boundary or a polydisc or a compact bordered Riemann surface or a bounded domainD such that intD = D is invertible if and only if it is a Fredholm operator if and only if is a holomorphic automorphism.  相似文献

Denote by the family of all real valued functions on a metric space which satisfy a Lipschitz condition on the compact (bounded) subsets of X. We prove that every homomorphism on is the evaluation at some point of X if and only if X is realcompact (every closed bounded subset of X is compact). In this paper, the notion of the bounded compact approximation property (BCAP) of a pair [Banach space and its subspace] is used to prove that if X is a closed subspace of L∞ with the BCAP, then L∞/X has the BCAP. We also show that X* has the λ-BCAP with conjugate operators if and only if the pair (X, Y) has the λ-BCAP for each finite codimensional subspace Y∈X. Let M be a closed subspace of X such that M⊥ is complemented in X*. If X has the (bounded) approximation property of order p, then M has the (bounded) approximation property of order p.  相似文献

A Convenient Subcategory of Tych   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
A map f:XY between Hausdorff topological spaces is k-continuous if its restriction f| K to every compact subspace K of X is continuous. X is called a k R -space if every k-continuous function from X to a Tychonoff space is continuous. In this paper we investigate the category of Tychonoff k R -spaces, and show that it is Cartesian closed (thus convenient in the sense of Wyler).  相似文献

Weak compactness of the analytic composition operator f?fφ is studied on BMOA(X), the space of X-valued analytic functions of bounded mean oscillation, and its subspace VMOA(X), where X is a complex Banach space. It is shown that the composition operator is weakly compact on BMOA(X) if X is reflexive and the corresponding composition operator is compact on the scalar-valued BMOA. A concrete example is given which shows that BMOA(X) differs from the weak vector-valued BMOA for infinite dimensional Banach spaces X.  相似文献

Multipliers have been recently introduced as operators for Bessel sequences and frames in Hilbert spaces. These operators are defined by a fixed multiplication pattern (the symbol) which is inserted between the analysis and synthesis operators. In this paper, we will generalize the concept of Bessel multipliers for p-Bessel and p-Riesz sequences in Banach spaces. It will be shown that bounded symbols lead to bounded operators. Symbols converging to zero induce compact operators. Furthermore, we will give sufficient conditions for multipliers to be nuclear operators. Finally, we will show the continuous dependency of the multipliers on their parameters.  相似文献

The paper deals with the approximation of bounded real functions f on a compact metric space (X, d) by so-called controllable step functions in continuation of [Ri/Ste]. These step functions are connected with controllable coverings, that are finite coverings of compact metric spaces by subsets whose sizes fulfil a uniformity condition depending on the entropy numbers εn(X) of the space X. We show that a strong form of local finiteness holds for these coverings on compact metric subspaces of IRm and Sm. This leads to a Bernstein type theorem if the space is of finite convex information. In this case the corresponding approximation numbers εn(f) have the same asymptotics its ω(f, εn(X)) for f ε C(X). Finally, the results concerning functions f ε M(X) and f ε C(X) are transferred to operators with values in M(X) and C(X), respectively.  相似文献

A pair of linear bounded commuting operators T1, T2 in a Banach space is said to possess a decomposition property (DePr) if Ker (I-T1)(I-T2) = Ker (I-T1) + Ker (I-T2). A Banach space X is said to possess a 2-decomposition property (2-DePr) if every pair of linear power bounded commuting operators in X possesses the DePr. It is known from papers of M. Laczkovich and Sz. Révész that every reflexive Banach space X has the 2-DePr. In this paper we prove that every quasi-reflexive Banach space of order 1 has the 2-DePr but not all quasi-reflexive spaces of order 2. We prove that a Banach space has no 2-DePr if it contains a direct sum of two non-reflexive Banach spaces. Also we prove that if a bounded pointwise norm continuous operator group acts on X then every pair of operators belonging to it has a DePr. A list of open problems is also included. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We study the dynamic behaviour of weighted composition operators on the space of holomorphic functions on a simply connected plane domain and endowed with the compact open topology. Any such operator is weakly supercyclic if and only if it is topologically mixing and, when the weight is bounded, if and only if the operator has a hypercyclic subspace. We also provide conditions on the symbols that ensure the operator to be Devaney-chaotic and to have a frequently hypercyclic subspace.  相似文献

An example of a Banach spaceE is given with the following properties: Every bounding setAE (i.e.f(A) is bounded for each holomorphic functionf:EC) is relatively compact but there are relatively non-compact limited setsA (i.e.T(A) is relatively compact for each bounded linear mapT:Ec 0).  相似文献

Let X be a compact topological space and let C(X) denote the f-ring of all continuous real-valued functions defined on X. A point x in X is said to have rank n if, in C(X), there are n minimal prime ?-ideals contained in the maximal ?-ideal M x  = {f ? C(X):f(x) = 0}. The space X has finite rank if there is an n ? N such that every point x ? X has rank at most n. We call X an SV space (for survaluation space) if C(X)/P is a valuation domain for each minimal prime ideal P of C(X). Every compact SV space has finite rank. For a bounded continuous function h defined on a cozeroset U of X, we say there is an h-rift at the point z if h cannot be extended continuously to U ∪ {z}. We use sets of points with h-rift to investigate spaces of finite rank and SV spaces. We show that the set of points with h-rift is a subset of the set of points of rank greater than 1 and that whether or not a compact space of finite rank is SV depends on a characteristic of the closure of the set of points with h-rift for each such h. If X has finite rank and the set of points with h-rift is an F-space for each h, then X is an SV space. Moreover, if every x ? X has rank at most 2, then X is an SV space if and only if for each h, the set of points with h-rift is an F-space.  相似文献

LetS be a topological semigroup andAP(S) the space of continous complex almost periodic functions onS. We obtain characterizations of compact and weakly compact operators from a Banach spaceX into AP(S). For this we use the almost periodic compactification ofS obtained through uniform spaces. For a bounded linear operatorT fromX into AP(S), letT 5, be the translate ofT bys inS defined byT 5(x)=(Tx) 5 . We define topologies on the space of bounded linear operators fromX into AP(S) and obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for an operatorT to be compact or weakly compact in terms of the uniform continuity of the mapsT 5. IfS is a Hausdorff topological semigroup, we also obtain characterizations of compact and weakly compact multipliers on AP(S) in terms of the uniform continuity of the map S→μs, where μs denotes the unique vector measure corresponding to the operatorT 5.  相似文献

Let G be a unimodular Lie group, X a compact manifold with boundary, and M the total space of a principal bundle GMX so that M is also a strongly pseudoconvex complex manifold. In this study, we show that if G acts by holomorphic transformations satisfying a local property, then the space of square-integrable holomorphic functions on M is infinite-dimensional.  相似文献

Let X be a locally convex Hausdorff space and let C0(S,X) be the space of all continuous functions f:SX, with compact support on the locally compact space S. In this paper we prove a Riesz representation theorem for a class of bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X, where the representing integrals are X-valued Pettis integrals with respect to bounded signed measures on S. Under the additional assumption that X is a locally convex space, having the convex compactness property, or either, X is a locally convex space whose dual X is a barrelled space for an appropriate topology, we obtain a complete identification between all X-valued Pettis integrals on S and the bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X they represent. Finally we give two illustrations of the representation theorem proved, in the particular case when X is the topological dual of a locally convex space.  相似文献
