Assuming factorization, and extracting inclusive Reggeon vertices from one-particle inclusive data, we predict Regge corrections to scaling for several two-particle inclusive processes. The data on p + P → π? + π? + X, K+ + p → π? + π? + X, K? + p → π+ + π? + X, and π+ + p → π? + π? + X agree with our predictions.  相似文献

We present double differential cross sections for the reactions K? + p → π± + anything at 8.25 GeV/c. Using published data for reactions K+ + p→ π? + anything and p + p → π+ anything we predict the differential cross sections for γ + p → π? + anything, π? + p → π? + anything and π? + p → π+ + anything in the target fragmentation region based on factorisation of the pomeron and Regge trajectories. Our predictions agree with the experimental data and support the hypothesis of factorisation of the Regge trajectories in the target fragmentation region.  相似文献

Direct photon production in p-p, π-p and p-p collisions at large transverse momenta (pT) is studied in QCD and compared with existing data. Apart from the quark-gluon and quark-antiquark contributions, corrections due to bremsstrahlung of photons (q+q→q+q+γ) and to partons' intrinsic transverse momenta are taken into account. It is shown that p+p→γ+X provides one of the best determinations of the gluon distribution in the proton. Hadron production with an opposite-side large-pT photon trigger is also studied. It is shown that the difference between the momentum sharing (xe) distributions of π?+p→γ+π±+X and π++p →γ+π±+X (or of p+p→γ+π±+X and p+p→γ+π±+X) provides a good determinati on of the gluon fragmentation to a pion.  相似文献

The magnitudes of the matrix elements for γγ→2π+?, γγ→π+π?0, γγ→2π+?π0, γγ→2π+?0, γγ→3π+?+ and γγ→3π+?π0are deduced from experimental data as a function of the invariant massW of the system (from 1.0 to 3.0 GeV). It is shown that the data are consistent with a universal energy dependence of the reduced channel amplitudes. A statistical model is shown to describe the peaks in the energy dependence of multipion production in γγ collisions quite well without introducing explicit intermediate resonances.  相似文献

A phenomenological model is developed for describing the production of π + π ? pairs on a proton by virtual photons in the energy region of nucleon-resonance excitation.The cross sections are calculated for the channels γpπ ?Δ++, γpπ +Δ0, and γpρp, which make a dominant contribution to pion-pair production, and the results are compared with available experimental data.The contributions of nucleon resonances to the cross section for the reaction γpπ ?Δ++ are predicted within the developed approach.  相似文献

The results on the impact parameter for the reactions π?p→pπ+π?π?, pK+K?π?, with a fast secondary forward proton are given at 9 and 12 GeV/c. For the reaction π?p→pπ+π?π? our results corresponding to the small |u| region (|u| < 1 GeV2) are compared to the existing data for the small |t| region. Studies have been made of the reactions π+p→pπ+π+π? and π?p→pπ+π?π?, both at an incident pion momentum of 18.5 GeV/c. The two-body (primarily Δ++ and ?o and three-body (low-mass A enhancement, A3, N1 (1400), and N1 (1700)) subsystems are discussed. Results are presented for p → (ΛK+) dissociation in the reactions K?p → ΛK+K? and and π±p → ΛK+π±at 10 and 16 GeV/c. The cross sections for the low-mass ΛK+ enhancement are compatible with the energy dependence σplab?0.3. The t′ spectra or the (ΛK+) threshold enhancement are exponential in shape. Its decay angular distribution reveals neither s-channel nor t-channel helicity conservation. The relative probabilities of the processes pp, p → (Nπ)I=12and p → (ΛK+) dissociation are in the ratios 100 : 10 : 0.2, independent of the nature of the incident particle.  相似文献

The π+n → pπ+π?π0 reaction is studied in the longitudinal phase space (LPS). The cross sections, mass spectra and four-momentum transfer distributions are discussed in each LPS sector. The dominant processes seem to be the ΔQ = 0 and G parity positive exchange, and ΔQ = 0, 1 and G parity negative exchange. A low baryon diffraction dissociation is also present.  相似文献

Results are presented onK + p elastic scattering and on the reactionK + pK + pπ+π? at 70 GeV/c. For the elastic channel, we measured the total ((2.29±0.04)mb) and differentialdσ/dt cross sections. The reactionK + pK + pπ+π? has a total cross section of (470±23) μb and is shown to be dominated by diffractive dissociation processes. The contributions of the quasi-two-body channels $$K^ + p \to K*^0 (890)\Delta ^{ + + } (1,236)$$ and $$K^ + p \to K*^0 (1,430)\Delta ^{ + + } (1,236)$$ and of the Double-Pomeron Exchange (DPE) processes are estimated.  相似文献

Differential and total cross sections of the p + pπ+ + d reaction close to threshold were measured employing a magnetic spectrograph with track reconstruction, a very thin liquid hydrogen target and an accelerated proton beam with high phase space density. The data resolve a previous discrepancy between the n + pπ0 + d and the π+ + d → 2p reaction close to threshold indicating that isospin symmetry may be broken in the s-wave part of the cross section.  相似文献

Data from a high-statistics bubble chamber experiment at 24 GeV/c are used to study the double diffraction dissociation reaction pp→(pπ+π?) (pπ+π?) where both protons of the initial state dissociate into pπ+π? systems. Cross section, mass spectra and dσ/dt' distributions have been determined and are compared with the results found for the single diffraction dissociation reaction pp → p(pπ+π?), which have been obtained from the same experiment. All our findings agree well with what is expected from the factorization hypothesis.  相似文献

We report the observation of double diffraction dissociation in the process p + p → (pπ+π?) + X at √s of 45 GeV and momentum transfer in the ?t range 0.15?0.53 GeV2 at the CERN ISR. The relative rates for elastic, single and double dissociation reactions measured here are found to agree with the prediction of Pomeron factorization.  相似文献

A spin-parity 1+?π enhancement is observed for the 3π mass spectrum in the reaction K?p → Σ?π+π+π? where events with a small (K?Σ?) momentum transfer are selected. The mass (1040 MeV) and width (230 MeV) of this enhancement are reminiscent of the A1 bump which has mainly been observed in the diffractive-like processes. The cross section for this enhancement at 4.15 GeV/c incident K? momentum is (3.6 ± 0.5) μb.  相似文献

The cross section for the process e + e ? → π+π?π0π0 has been measured in an experiment with a spherical neutral detector, with the cross section at energies √s < 920 MeV having been measured for the first time. The model of vector dominance describes well the data obtained if the ρ, ρ′, and ρ″ resonances are taken into account. The probability of the decay ρ → π+π?π0π0 is B(ρ → π+π?π0π0) = (1.60 ± 0.74 ± 0.18) × 10?5. The upper limit for the decay ω → π+π?π0π0 has been improved by two orders of magnitude compared to previous measurements and is B(ω → π+π?π0π0) < 2 × 10?4 at a 90% confidence level.  相似文献

The reaction e + e ?→ωπ0 near a Φ resonance was studied with a spherical neutral detector at VEPP-2M e + e ? collider. Both main modes of decay of a ω meson were investigated: ω→π+π?π0 and ω→π 0γ. The probability of decay Φ→ωπ0 was obtained from the magnitude of the interference wave in the cross section for the reaction e + e ?→ωπ0→ π+π?π0π0: B(Φ→ωπ0) = (5.5 ?1.4 +1.6 ±0.3) ×10?5. The ratio of the partial widths of the ω meson was obtained from the ratio of the cross sections for the two modes: Γ(ω→π0γ )/Γ(ω→π+π?π0) = 0.0994 ± 0.0036 ± 0.0038.  相似文献

In a study of photoproduction at photon energies up to 5.3 GeV in a deuterium bubble chamber the reactions γn→pπ+π?π? and γn→pπ+π?π?π0 were analyzed. In these reactions production of the resonances Δ++, Δ0, ?0, ω and A2? was observed. Photoproduction of strange particles was investigated and cross sections for the reactions γn→ΛK+π?, Σ?K0π+, pK?K0, ΛK0π+π? and ΛK+π?π0 are presented. No reliable theoretical recipe exists for predicting strengths of OZI-forbidden transitions proceeding via two OZI-allowed transitions like φ→K+K?, π?p→K+K?n→φφn or π?p→ηn→φφn. Nonet symmetry, exchange degeneracy and duality suppress such transitions by cancellations between different diagrams. Unpredictable OZI violations are introduced by breaking of these symmetries. Phenomenological analyses of charmonium decays and meson photoproduction establish an emperical topological criterion for classifying some processes as less forbidden and suggest that π?p→φφn should not be suppressed by a factor of more than three in amplitude. Its observation is not conclusive evidence for new exotic particles.  相似文献

We report results on a new measurement of the double diffractive reaction pp → (pπ+π?) (pπ+π?) at the ISR obtained with the Split Field Magnet detector. Experimental procedures and data analysis are discussed in detail. The cross section measured at the five standard ISR energies exhibits an increase of (55 ± 7)% in the s-range from 549 to 3892 GeV2.  相似文献

In a 48 000-picture exposure of the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber to a 205 GeV/cπ?beam, we have measured 169 events of the reaction, π?pπ?π+π?p, with a cross section of 635 ± 61 μb. This reaction proceeds almost entirely via low mass π? → 3π and p → pππ dissociation. Factorization is satisfied for p → pππ dissociation in πp and pp interactions.  相似文献
