In the present study the combined effect of gamma irradiation (1, 3 and 5 kGy) and storage at two temperatures: refrigeration (+4 °C) and frozen (?18 °C), on the shelf-life extension of fresh shrimp meat was investigated. The study was based on microbiological and physicochemical changes occuring in the shrimp samples. Total volatile base nitrogen values and trimethylamine values for irradiated shrimp samples were significantly lower than non-irradiated samples at both storage temperatures, and the rate of decrease was more pronounced in samples irradiated at the higher dose (p<0.05). Thiobarbituric acid values for irradiated shrimp samples were significantly higher than non-irradiated samples at both storage temperatures (p<0.05). pH values of shrimp samples were affected significantly by both irradiating dose and storage temperatures (p<0.05). Microbial counts for non-irradiated shrimp samples were higher than the respective irradiated samples at both storage temperatures (p<0.05). The results revealed that irradiation at high dose (5 kGy) might enhance lipid oxidation, although the growth of microorganisms and protein oxidation was inhibited.  相似文献

In the present study, radiation processing of minimally processed green gram and garden pea sprouts was carried out at doses 1 and 2 kGy. The effect of this treatment on different quality parameters like vitamin C content, total carotenoids content, sensory quality, texture, and color was determined over a storage period of 12 days at two different temperatures, a 4 and 8 °C. It was observed that treatment of irradiation (1 and 2 kGy) and storage period did not have any significant effect on vitamin C content of control as well as irradiated sprout samples stored at 4 and 8 °C. Total carotenoids content of sprouts stored at 4, as well as at 8 °C, for 12 days remained almost unchanged after irradiation as well as during storage. Sensory evaluation studies showed that irradiation had no significant effect (p>0.05) on the ratings of any of the sensory attributes in green gram as well as garden pea sprouts and, thus, did not alter the overall acceptability of the irradiated sprouts. Textural studies revealed that there was no significant change (p>0.05) in the firmness of irradiated sprouts (1 and 2 kGy) as compared to control samples at both the temperatures. Storage period of 12 days also did not affect the firmness of sprouts significantly. Color measurement results indicated no drastic change in the color coordinates of the green gram samples except greenness of controls stored at both the temperatures, which showed insignificant decrease in the a* values. Thus, the nutritional as well as sensory quality of minimally processed green gram and garden pea sprouts did not alter significantly after gamma irradiation with a dose of 1 and 2 kGy.  相似文献

Characteristics of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films containing 0.11 wt% of malachite green oxalate or 6GX-setoglausine and about 100 μm in thickness were studied for use as routine dosimeters in radiation processing. These films show basically color bleaching under irradiation with 60Co γ-rays in a dose range of 5–50 kGy. The sensitivity of the dosimeters and the linearity of dose-response curves are improved by adding 2.5% of chloral hydrate [CCl3CH(OH)2] and 0.15% hydroquinone [HOC6H4OH]. These additions extend the minimum dose limit to 1 kGy covering dosimetry requirements of the quality assurance in radiation processing of food and healthcare products. The dose responses of both dyed PVC films at irradiation temperatures from 20°C to 35°C are constant relative to those at 25°C, and the temperature coefficients for irradiation temperatures from 35°C to 55°C were estimated to be (0.43±0.01)%/°C. The dosimeter characteristics are stable within 1% at 25°C before and 60 days after the end of irradiation.  相似文献

The chemical composition and components of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) surface was investigated as a function of the temperature under the irradiation of synchrotron radiation (SR) by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). When the temperature of PTFE under the SR irradiation was less than 100 °C, the C-rich surface appeared. With increasing the temperature more than 150 °C, the relative intensity of the F 1s peak to the C 1s peak increased markedly. At the temperatures of 150–180 °C, the C–C component became small and the CF2 component was dominant. With further increasing the temperature more than 200 °C, CF3, CF and C–CF components grew in addition to CF2 component. Based on these XPS results, the temperature effect on the chemical composition and components is discussed.  相似文献

Electron beam (e-beam) curing is a technology that offers advantages over the thermal curing process, that usually requires high temperature and are time-consuming. E-beam curing is faster and occurs at low temperatures that help reduce residual mechanical stresses in a thermoset composite. The aim of the present study is to analyze the effects of cationic initiator (diaryliodonium hexafluoroantimonate) ranged from 1 to 3 wt% in DGEBA (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A) epoxy resin when cured by a 1.5 MeV electron beam. The specimens were cured to a total dose of 200.4 kGy for 40 min. Analyses by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) show that the e-beam irradiated samples with 2 wt% cationic initiator were 96% cured obtained a glass transition temperature (tan δ) of 167 °C. The same epoxy resin, thermally cured for 16 h with an anhydride hardener, reached a Tg (tan δ) of 136 °C. So, the irradiated sample had its Tg increased approximately 20% and the curing process was much less time consuming.  相似文献

The effect of calcination temperatures on dry reforming catalysts supported on high surface area alumina Ni/γ-Al2O3 (SA-6175) was studied experimentally. In this study, the prepared catalyst was tested in a micro tubular reactor using temperature ranges of 500, 600, 700 and 800 °C at atmospheric pressure, using a total flow rate of 33 ml/min consisting of 3 ml/min of N2, 15 ml/min of CO2 and 15 ml/min of CH4. The calcination was carried out in the range of 500–900 °C. The catalyst is activated inside the reactor at 500–800 °C using hydrogen gas. It was observed that calcination enhances catalyst activity which increases as calcination and reaction temperatures were increased. The highest conversion was obtained at 800 °C reaction temperature by using catalyst calcined at 900 °C and activation at 700 °C. The catalyst characterization conducted supported the observed experimental results.  相似文献

The effects of pyrolysis temperature and heating rate on the porous structure characteristics of rice straw chars were investigated. The pyrolysis was done at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures ranging from 600 to 1000 °C under low heating rate (LHR) and high heating rates (HHR) conditions. The chars were characterized by ultimate analysis, field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), helium density measurement and N2 physisorption method. The results showed that temperature had obvious influence on the char porous characteristics. The char yield decreased by approximately 16% with increasing temperature from 600 to 1000 °C. The carbon structure shrinkage and pore narrowing occurred above 600 °C. The shrinkage of carbon skeleton increased by more than 22% with temperatures rising from 600 to 1000 °C. At HHR condition, progressive increases in porosity development with increasing pyrolysis temperature occurred, whereas a maximum porosity development appeared at 900 °C. The total surface area (Stotal) and micropore surface area (Smicro) reached maximum values of 30.94 and 21.81 m2/g at 900 °C and decreased slightly at higher temperatures. The influence of heating rate on Stotal and Smicro was less significant than that of pyrolysis temperature. The pore surface fractal dimension and average pore diameter showed a good linear relationship.  相似文献

Basic characteristics of Radix W, a commercially available undyed polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) dosimeter conventionally used by readout at 320 nm, were studied in the dose range of 0.5–8 kGy, for its wide application especially for the evaluation of the sterilization dose and the quality assurance of food irradiation. The characteristics of dose response, the effect of irradiation temperature, and its stability after irradiation were examined over candidate readout wavelengths of 270–320 nm. The dose response readout at shorter wavelength is higher than that at longer wavelength, and 280 nm is the suitable readout wavelength for measurement of dose range of 0.5–8 kGy. The post-irradiation stability of dose response for 6 kGy is less than 1% within 24 h after irradiation at an irradiation temperature of 20 °C. Dose response is higher with temperature at irradiation temperatures in the range of −40 to 20 °C.  相似文献

Dielectric and a.c. conductivity properties of LiCo3/5Mn2/5VO4 ceramic are investigated. This compound is prepared by solution-based chemical method and the formation is checked by X-ray diffraction (XRD) study. XRD analysis at room temperature shows an orthorhombic phase. Frequency dependence of dielectric constant (?r) at different temperatures shows a dispersive behavior at low frequencies. Temperature dependence of ?r at different frequencies indicates the transition temperature (Tc) = 235 °C, 245 °C, 257 °C and 265 °C with (?r)max. ~3689, 1373, 750 and 386 for 10, 50, 100 and 200 kHz respectively. A.c. conductivity analysis indicates that electrical conduction in the material is a thermally activated process.  相似文献

Fresh-cut Iceberg lettuce packaged in modified atmosphere packages and spinach in perforated film bags were irradiated with gamma rays at doses of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 kGy. After irradiation, the samples were stored for 14 days at 4 °C. O2 levels in the packages of fresh-cut Iceberg lettuce decreased and CO2 levels increased with increasing radiation dose, suggesting that irradiation increased respiration rates of lettuce. Tissue browning of irradiated cut lettuce was less severe than that of non-irradiated, probably due to the lower O2 levels in the packages. However, samples irradiated at 3 and 4 kGy had lower maximum force and more severe sogginess than the non-irradiated control. In addition, ascorbic acid content of irradiated lettuce was 22–40% lower than the non-irradiated samples after 14 days of storage. The visual appearance of spinach was not affected by irradiation even at a dose of 4 kGy. Consumer acceptance suggested that more people would dislike and would not buy spinach that was treated at 3 and 4 kGy as compared to the non-irradiated sample. Overall, irradiation at doses of 1 and 2 kGy may be employed to enhance microbial safety of fresh-cut Iceberg lettuce and spinach while maintaining quality.  相似文献

In the thermoluminescence (TL) detection method for irradiated foods, accurate standards have been developed for detecting irradiated foods. The standard method describes that emission maximum temperature (T1i) and TL ratio for non-heated or non-mixed sample can be in the range of 150–250 °C and more than 0.1, respectively, when it was irradiated food. But when irradiated food is heated up to 200 °C, or mixed up with non-irradiated stuffs, T1i and TL ratio would not drop in the range. Here we examined the effects of the two processes, heating and mixing with non-irradiated food, on T1i and G1/G1k ratio (ratio of G1 and average G1 for 1-kGy-irradiated JF2, this value is modeled after TL ratio) using a model consisting of irradiated and non-irradiated geochemical standards of feldspar (JF1, JF2, PF, etc.). T1i temperatures for irradiated JF1, JF2, and PF ranged from 163 to 175 °C, while those for the non-irradiated JF2 ranged from 253 to 263 °C. T1i temperatures for 5-kGy-irradiated and preheated JF2 for 10 s, 20 s, and 30 s at 180 °C were 215, 225, and 231 °C, respectively.When JF2 was irradiated from 100 Gy to 5 kGy, the T1i was almost constant at any doses. G1/G1k ratios at 100, 200, and 500 Gy were 0.15, 0.23, and 0.60, respectively. G1/G1k ratio was proportional to the given dose at the integration temperature ranges.The TS sample, which originated from farm soil in Tanegashima Island, gave the same results as JF2. T1is for 5-kGy-irradiated and preheated JF2 for 20 s at 150, 180, and 200 °C were 197, 225, and 246 °C, respectively. Longer and higher preheating resulted in higher T1i. Longer and higher preheating extremely reduced the G1/G1k ratio, and in some cases the ratio was less than 0.1. This means TL ratio is useless in determination of the standard for irradiated food.Peak temperatures for JF2 in mixture of 5-kGy-irradiated to non-irradiated (1.25–5%) were 261–263 °C (non-irradiated portion, T1n) and 177–180 °C (irradiated portion T1i). The peak positions are almost the same as those of original components and would not be affected by the mixing ratio. But TL ratio could not be used to determine irradiated food because mixing would reduce it remarkably.Some of the glow curves were simulated by a computer program.In conclusion, T1i/n is a key factor in an irradiated food determination practice for sample containing feldspar, rather than TL ratio.  相似文献

Effect of medium dose gamma irradiation on PAL and antioxidant activity of peach fruit was investigated. Peach fruit after harvest at commercial maturity was irradiated in the dose range 1.0–2.0 kGy, stored under refrigerated conditions (3±1 °C, RH 80%) and evaluated at intervals of 7 days. The antioxidant activity as determined by DPPH and FRAP methods revealed significant (p≤0.05) increase particularly in the dose range 1.6–2.0 kGy. During storage, maximum increase in both PAL and antioxidant activity was observed after 21 days. Positive correlation (r=0.75) existed between antioxidant activity and total phenols. EC50 values as obtained from DPPH and FRAP experiments were significantly (p≤0.05) lower in irradiated fruits compared to control.  相似文献

An environmentally friendly and cost-competitive way of producing hydrogen is the catalytic steam reforming of biomass pyrolysis liquids, known as bio-oil, which can be separated into two fractions: ligninic and aqueous. Acetic acid has been identified as one of the major organic acids present in the latter, and catalytic steam reforming has been studied for this model compound. Three different Ni coprecipitated catalysts have been prepared with varying nickel content (23, 28 and 33% expressed as a Ni/(Ni + Al) relative at.% of nickel). Several parameters have been analysed using a microscale fixed-bed facility: the effect of the catalyst reduction time, the reaction temperature, the catalyst weight/acetic acid flow rate (W/mHAc) ratio, and the effect of the nickel content. The catalyst with 33% Ni content at 650 °C showed no significant enhancement of the hydrogen yield after 2 h of reduction compared to 1 h under the same experimental conditions. Its performance was poorer when reduced for just 0.5 h. For W/mHAc ratios greater than 2.29 g catalyst min/g acetic acid (650 °C, 33% Ni content) no improvement was observed, whereas for values lower than 2.18 g catalyst min/g acetic acid a decrease in product gas yields occurred rapidly. The temperatures studied were 550, 650 and 750 °C. No decrease in product gas yields was observed at 750 °C under the established experimental conditions. Below this temperature, the aforementioned decrease became more important with decreasing temperatures. The catalyst with 28% Ni content performed better than the other two.  相似文献

The 9.50 GHz electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of unirradiated and 60Co γ-ray irradiated cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum L. Maton, Zingiberaceae), ginger ((Zingiber officinale Rosc., Zingiberaceae), and saffron (Crocus sativus L., Iridaceae) have been investigated at room temperature. All unirradiated spices presented a weak resonance line with g-factors around free-electron ones. After γ-ray irradiation at an absorbed dose of up to 11.3 kGy, the presence of EPR spectra whose amplitude increase monotonously with the absorbed dose has been noticed with all spices. A 100 °C isothermal annealing of 11.3 kGy irradiated samples has shown a differential reduction of amplitude of various components that compose initial spectra, but even after 3.6 h of thermal treatment, the remaining amplitude represents no less then 30% of the initial ones. The same peculiarities have been noticed after 83 days storage at room temperature but after 340 days storage at ambient conditions only irradiated ginger displays a weak signal that differs from those of unirradiated sample. All these factors could be taken into account in establishing at which extent the EPR is suitable to evidence any irradiation treatment applied to these spices.  相似文献

This study evaluated effect of gamma irradiation on survival of Salmonella Typhimurium and Staphylococcus aureus on lettuce and damage of cell envelope. S. Typhimurium and S. aureus were inoculated on red leaf lettuce, and they were irradiated at 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 kGy, and the samples were then stored at 7 and 25 °C for 7 days. Survival of S. Typhimurium and S. aureus were enumerated on xylose lysine deoxycholate agar and Baird–Parker agar, respectively. D10 value (dose required to reduce 1 log CFU/leaf) was calculated, and kinetic parameters (maximum specific growth rate; μmax and lag phase duration; LPD) were calculated by the modified Gompertz model. In addition, cell envelope damage of the pathogens was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). D10 values were 0.35 and 0.33 kGy for S. Typhimurium and S. aureus, respectively. During storage at 7 °C, S. Typhimurium and S. aureus had significant (P<0.05) growth only on non-irradiated samples up to about 2.5 and 4 log CFU/leaf at 0.42 and 1.28 log CFU/leaf/day of μmax, respectively. At 25 °C, cell counts of S. Typhimurium and S. aureus on the samples irradiated at 0 and 0.5 kGy increased (P<0.05) up to 3–6 log CFU/leaf. The μmax of both pathogens were higher in 0 kGy (1.08–2.27 log CFU/leaf/day) and 0.5 kGy (0.58–0.92 log CFU/leaf/day), and LPDs ranged from 1.53 to 3.14 day. SEM and TEM observations showed that cells irradiated at 1.5 and 3 kGy showed disrupted cell membrane. These results indicate that gamma irradiation could be a useful decontamination technology to improve food safety of lettuce by destroying cells of S. Typhimurium and S. aureus.  相似文献

The influence of accelerated thermal treatment of thermosetting epoxy laminate on its glass transition temperature was studied. Lamplex® FR-4 glass fibre-reinforced epoxy laminate (used for printed circuit board manufacturing) was used in these experiments. The composite was exposed to thermal treatments at temperatures ranging from 170 °C to 200 °C for times ranging from 10 to 480 h. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was analysed via dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). It has been proven that the glass transition temperature rapidly decreases in reaction to thermal stress. The obtained Tg data were used for Arrhenius plots for different critical temperatures (Tg-crit. = 105–120 °C). From their slopes (?Ea/R), the activation energy of the thermal degradation process was calculated as 75.5 kJ/mol. In addition to this main relaxation mechanism, DMA also recorded one smaller relaxation process in the most aged samples. Microscopic analysis of the sample structure showed the presence of pronounced small regions of degradation both on the surface and in the inner structure, which are probably the causes of microscopic delamination and the smaller relaxation process.  相似文献

We have investigated SeO2 at high pressures and high temperatures. Two new phases (β-SeO2 and γ-SeO2) and the boundary separating them have been found, following experimental runs performed at pressures up to 15 GPa and temperatures up to 820°C. The two phases crystallize in the orthorhombic system in space group Pmc21 (no. 26) with a=5.0722(1) Å, b=4.4704(1) Å, c=7.5309(2) Å, V=170.760(9) Å3 and Z=4 for the β-phase, and with a=5.0710(2) Å, b=4.4832(2) Å, c=14.9672(6) Å, V=340.27(3) Å3 and Z=8 for the γ-phase. Both phases are stable at ambient pressure and temperature below −30°C. At ambient temperature the phases return to the starting phase (α-SeO2) in a few days. We discuss our findings in relation to a previous report of in-situ measurements at high pressures and ambient temperature.  相似文献

A mild pre-irradiation method was used to graft glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) onto polyethylene (PE) non-woven fabric (NF). The polymer was irradiated by electron beam in air atmosphere at room temperature. The degree of grafting (Dg) was determined as a function of reaction time, absorbed dose, monomer concentration and temperature. After 30 kGy irradiation, with 5% GMA, surfactant Tween 20 (Tw-20) of 0.5% at 55 °C for 15 min, the trunk polymer was made grafted with a Dg of 150%. Selected PE-g-PGMA of different Dg was modified with aminated compounds such as ethylenediamine (EDA), diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetramine (TETA) and tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA). The obtained amine-type adsorbents were prepared to remove copper and uranium ions from solution. It was shown that at least 90% of copper and 60% of uranium with the initial concentration from 3 to 1000 ppb can be removed from water.  相似文献

Scientific advancements in healthcare driven both by technological breakthroughs and an aging and increasingly obese population have lead to a changing medical device market. Complex products and devices are being developed to meet the demands of leading edge medical procedures.Specialized materials in these medical devices, including pharmaceuticals and biologics as well as exotic polymers present a challenge for radiation sterilization as many of these components cannot withstand conventional irradiation methods. The irradiation of materials at dry ice temperatures has emerged as a technique that can be used to decrease the radiation sensitivity of materials.The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of low temperature irradiation on a variety of polymer materials, and over a range of temperatures from 0 °C down to ?80 °C. The effectiveness of microbial kill is also investigated under each of these conditions.The results of the study show that the effect of low temperature irradiation is material dependent and can alter the balance between crosslinking and chain scission of the polymer. Low temperatures also increase the dose required to achieve an equivalent microbiological kill, therefore dose setting exercises must be performed under the environmental conditions of use.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate microbial populations, Hunter's color values (L?, a?, b?) and the sensory quality of freeze-dried miyeokguk, Korean seaweed soup, in order to use it as space food. Microorganisms were not detected in non-irradiated freeze-dried miyeokguk within the detection limit of 1.00 log CFU/g. However, the microbial population in rehydrated miyeokguk was 7.01 log CFU/g after incubation at 35 °C for 48 h, indicating that freeze-dried miyeokguk was not sterilized by heat treatment during the preparation process. Bacteria in the freeze-dried miyeokguk were tentatively identified as Bacillus cereus, B. subtilis, Enterobacter hormaechei, and Ancinetobacter genomosp. using the 16S rDNA sequencing. In samples that were gamma-irradiated above 10 kGy, it was confirmed that all microorganisms were inactivated. Hunter's color values of the samples irradiated at doses less than 10 kGy were not significantly altered from their baseline appearance (p>0.05). Sensory evaluation showed that preference scores in all sensory properties decreased when freeze-dried miyeokguk was irradiated at doses greater than 10 kGy. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that gamma irradiation at 10 kGy is sufficient to sterilize freeze-dried miyeokguk without significant deterioration in the sensory quality, and thus, the freeze-dried and irradiated miyeokguk at 10 kGy fulfills the microbiological requirements as space food.  相似文献
