We propose a lattice version of Chem-Simons gravity and show that the partition function coincides with the Ponzano-Regge model and the action leads to the Chem-Simons gravity in the continuum limit. The action is explicitly constructed by the lattice dreibein and spin connection and is shown to be invariant under lattice local Lorentz transformations and gauge diffeomorphisms. The action includes the constraint which can be interpreted as a gauge fixing condition of the lattice gauge diffeomorphism.  相似文献

We propose an improved fermion action on the lattice by adding a next nearest neightbor interaction term to Wilson action. The proposed action is expected to approach the continuum limit more rapidly. Using the improved action, the predictions for the critical value of the hopping parameter at weak and strong coupling are given. The relationship between quark masses on the lattice and in the continuum is also discussed.  相似文献

Merons, conjectured as a semiclassical mechanism for color confinement in QCD, have been described analytically by either infinite action configurations or an Ansatz with discontinuous action. We construct a smooth, finite action, stationary lattice solution corresponding to a meron pair. We also derive an analytical solution for the zero mode of the meron pair Ansatz, show that it has the qualitative behavior of the exact zero mode of the lattice solution, and propose the use of zero modes to identify meron gauge field configurations in stochastic evaluations of the lattice QCD path integral.  相似文献

We study the evolution of interacting individuals located on the sites of a regular lattice. The individuals play a two action game in which the players either cooperate or defect with respect to a certain issue. The main rule of the game is that a player does not change his action when he and his opponent have held the same action in the previous round. Numerical simulations performed on a square lattice show a stationary state in which the lattice has a finite number of cooperators and defectors and two frozen states, one full of cooperators and the other full of defectors.  相似文献

The feature of Manton's lattice action in the SU(5) four-dimensional lattice gauge theory is investigated by means of Monte Carlo simulation. A rather smooth curve of the internal energy is obtained, no discontinuity in the average action perplaquette is found in opposition to the resultes of usually adopted Wilson's action. An evidence of a higher order phase transition with Manton's action is also found.  相似文献

The equivalence of 2+1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model and the SU(2) Kogut Susskind lattice gauge theory is recapitulated and the naive Euclidean lattice action of the threedimensional an tiferromagnetic Heisen berg model is derived. The three-dimensional lattice gauge fermion theory is formulated to give the consistent lattice gauge theory of antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model. In continu um limit the two copies of two flavor fermions are resulted, which give the negative results of the microscopic derivation of the Chern-Simons terms. The Chern-Simons terms, the gauge invariant problem of effective action and the '%hiralityn are discussed.  相似文献

The lattice approximation of the naïve continuum action in quantum mechanics or in field theory is not uniquely determined. We investigate to what extent corrections to the lattice action, which vanish in the naïve continuum limit, affect the continuum limit when taking quantum fluctuations into account. In the quantum mechanical case, modifications of the lattice action may induce non-trivial corrections to the potential of the system and thereby change the structure of the theory completely. We verify this statement analytically as well as numerically by performing a Monte Carlo simulation. In the field theoretical case we argue that the lattice corrections considered do not affect the physics of the continuum limit, at least not for asymptotically free gauge field theories. In four dimensions, one might encounter finite renormalization of CP violating terms.  相似文献

The effect of changing the lattice action for the gluon field on the recently observed [F. Farchioni, R. Frezzotti, K. Jansen, I. Montvay, G.C. Rossi, E. Scholz, A. Shindler, N. Ukita, C. Urbach, I. Wetzorke, Eur. Phys. J. C 39, 421 (2005); hep-lat/0406039] first order phase transition near zero quark mass is investigated by replacing the Wilson plaquette action by the DBW2 action. The lattice action for quarks is unchanged: it is in both cases the original Wilson action. It turns out that Wilson fermions with the DBW2 gauge action have a phase structure where the minimal pion mass and the jump of the average plaquette are decreased, when compared to Wilson fermions with Wilson plaquette action at similar values of the lattice spacing. It is shown that the first step in Wilson's real space renormalization program for lattice gauge theories — namely the integration of internal degrees of freedom within one block — can be performed for “block-diagonalized” actions, which possess the proper continuum limit, just like the Wilson action. As a result, we obtain, on a lattice with double lattice spacing, an effective action which contains in the weak-coupling limit, in addition to the familiar plaquette terms, planar Wilson loops with six and eight links.  相似文献

本文用X射线双晶衍射平行排列(n,-n)的方法,观察了α-LiIO3单晶体生长过程点阵常数a与c不规则的不均匀性以及在静电场作用下c的起伏现象。观测出在静电场作用下a与c的变化和沿电场方向晶体表面层存在点阵常数的梯度。从而,证明了l≠0的晶面在静电场作用下,中子衍射的增强是由于在z轴向点阵常数c存在梯度的观点。同时,(010)晶面中子衍射强度在同样静电场作用下不增强的实验事实,从本实验结果,可以认为是点阵常数a原有的不均匀性较大,掩盖了a的梯度所致。 关键词:  相似文献

We study nucleon-nucleon scattering on the lattice at next-to-leading order in chiral effective field theory. We determine phase shifts and mixing angles from the properties of two-nucleon standing waves induced by a hard spherical wall in the center-of-mass frame. At fixed lattice spacing we test model independence of the low-energy effective theory by computing next-to-leading-order corrections for two different leading-order lattice actions. The first leading-order action includes instantaneous one-pion exchange and same-site contact interactions. The second leading-order action includes instantaneous one-pion exchange and Gaussian-smeared interactions. We find that in each case the results at next-to-leading order are accurate up to corrections expected at higher order.  相似文献

Recently, Narayanan and Neuberger proposed that the fermion determinant for a lattice chiral gauge theory be defined by an overlap formula. The motivation for that formula comes from Kaplan's five-dimensional lattice domain wall fermions. In the case that the target continuum theory contains 4n chiral families, we show that the effective action defined by overlap formula is identical to the effective action of a modified waveguide model that has extra bosonic ghost fields. This raises serious questions about the viability of the overlap formula for defining chiral gauge theories on the lattice.  相似文献

We consider a random stationary vector field on a multidimensional lattice and investigate flow-connected subsets of the lattice invariant under the action of the associated flow. The subsets of primary interest are cycles, and vortices each of which is the set of orbits terminating in the same cycle. We prove that with probability 1 each vortex only involves a finite number of sites of the lattice. Under the assumption of independence of the vector field in different sites, we find that with probability 1 the vortices exhaust all possible maximal flowconnected invariant subsets of the lattice if and only if the probability of existence of a cycle is positive. Thus, if cycles exist, a particle under the action of the flow only moves within a bounded region, i.e., it is completely localized.  相似文献

We discuss lattice simulations of the ground state of dilute neutron matter at next-to-leading order in chiral effective field theory. In a previous paper the coefficients of the next-to-leading-order lattice action were determined by matching nucleon-nucleon scattering data for momenta up to the pion mass. Here the same lattice action is used to simulate the ground state of up to 12 neutrons in a periodic cube using Monte Carlo simulations. We explore the density range from 2% to 8% of normal nuclear density and analyze the ground-state energy as an expansion about the unitarity limit with corrections due to finite scattering length, effective range, and P -wave interactions.  相似文献

Two possible ways of extending Symanzik's improvement programme to lattice fermions namely improvement to first and second order in the lattice sppacing a are discussed. The corresponding lattice actions for fermions are constructed and tree-level improvement conditions are derived by considering “classical” improvement. The concept of “on-shell” improvement is generalized to the lattice fermions studied here and the free parameters are determined for O(a) and O(a2) on-shell improved actions to all orders of perturbation theory. No evidence is found that the complicated structure of the O(a2) on-shell improved action, especially thearising fermion contact terms can be removed beyond tree level. The effect of terms in the action that explicitly break chiral symmetry and therefore remove the phenomenon of species doubling are investigated by considering the energy-momentum relations of the arising tree-level improved actions. Our main result is that the O(a) improved action is a slightly modified Wilson fermion action can still be written with only nearest-neighbour fermion interactions.  相似文献

Based on the explicit expressions of the plaquette formulations, the independent plaquette trial action for 4-dimensional lattice gauge theory is introduced. As an example, the mean plaquette energy EP for the SU(2) lattice gauge theory is calculated by using action variational approach with the independent trial action. The results are in good agreement with the Monte Carlo results in the strong coupling and the crossover region, and the curve is smooth in the whole region, which show that 4-dimensional SU(2) theory has only a single, confining phase. The unwanted discontinuity of EP given by the single link trial action, which is used in the earlier variational calculations has been avoided.  相似文献
