Let F be a fibration on a simply-connected base with symplectic fiber (M,ω). Assume that the fiber is nilpotent and T2k-separable for some integer k or a nilmanifold. Then our main theorem, Theorem 1.8, gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the cohomology class [ω] to extend to a cohomology class of the total space of F. This allows us to describe Thurston?s criterion for a symplectic fibration to admit a compatible symplectic form in terms of the classifying map for the underlying fibration. The obstruction due to Lalond and McDuff for a symplectic bundle to be Hamiltonian is also rephrased in the same vein. Furthermore, with the aid of the main theorem, we discuss a global nature of the set of the homotopy equivalence classes of fibrations with symplectic fiber in which the class [ω] is extendable.  相似文献

Mathieu (Math. Helv. 70 (1995) 1) introduced a canonic filtration in the de Rham cohomology of a symplectic manifold and proved, that the middle filtration space is the space of harmonic cohomology classes. We give an interpretation of the other filtration spaces, prove a Künneth theorem for harmonic cohomology, prove Poincaré duality for harmonic cohomology and show how surjectivity of certain Lefschetz type mappings is related to properties of the filtration. For a closed symplectic manifold M we also introduce symplectic invariants , and show if M is of dimension 2n with n even.  相似文献

We prove that closed symplectic four-manifolds do not admit any smooth free circle actions with contractible orbits, without assuming that the actions preserve the symplectic forms. In higher dimensions such actions by symplectomorphisms do exist, and we give explicit examples based on the constructions of FGM.  相似文献

In this paper we construct a family of simply connected spin non-complex symplectic 4-manifolds which cover all but finitely many allowed lattice points () lying in the region . Furthermore, as a corollary, we prove that there exist infinitely many exotic smooth structures on for all n large enough. For any closed oriented surface Σg of genus g?3, we prove the existence of foliatedΣg-bundles over surfaces such that the signatures of the total spaces are non-zero. We can arrange that the total holonomy of the horizontal foliations preserve a prescribed symplectic form ω on the fiber. We relate the cohomology class represented by the transverse symplectic form to a crossed homomorphism which is an extension of the flux homomorphism from the identity component to the whole group of symplectomorphisms of Σg with respect to the symplectic form ω.  相似文献

Using Seiberg-Witten theory and rational blow-down procedures of R. Fintushel and R.J. Stern, we construct infinitely many irreducible smooth structures, both symplectic and non-symplectic, on the four-manifold for each integer n lying in the interval . According to Taubes, the Gromov invariants of a symplectic four-manifold X with b+>1 satisfy the duality Gr(α)=±Gr(κα), where κ is Poincaré dual to the canonical class. Extending joint work with Simon Donaldson, we interpret this result in terms of Serre duality on the fibres of a Lefschetz pencil on X, by proving an analogous symmetry for invariants counting sections of associated bundles of symmetric products. Using similar methods, we give a new proof of an existence theorem for symplectic surfaces in four-manifolds with b+=1 and b1=0. This reproves another theorem due to Taubes: two symplectic homology projective planes with negative canonical class and equal volume are symplectomorphic.  相似文献

We study an integration theory in circle equivariant cohomology in order to prove a theorem relating the cohomology ring of a hyperkähler quotient to the cohomology ring of the quotient by a maximal abelian subgroup, analogous to a theorem of Martin for symplectic quotients. We discuss applications of this theorem to quiver varieties, and compute as an example the ordinary and equivariant cohomology rings of a hyperpolygon space.  相似文献

A new lower bound for the number of fixed points of Hamiltonian automorphisms of closed symplectic manifolds (M,ω) is established. The new estimate extends the previously known estimates to the class of weakly monotone symplectic manifolds. We prove for arbitrary closed symplectic manifolds with rational symplectic class that the cup-length estimate holds true if the Hofer energy of the Hamiltonian automorphism is sufficiently small. For arbitrary energy and on weakly monotone symplectic manifolds we define an analogon to the cup-length based on the quantum cohomology ring of (M,ω) providing a quantum cup-length estimate. Let E(1)p denote the rational elliptic surface with a single multiple fiber fp of multiplicity p. We construct an infinite family of homologous non-isotopic symplectic tori representing the primitive 2-dimensional homology class [fp] in E(1)p when p>1. As a consequence, we get infinitely many non-isotopic symplectic tori in the fiber class of the rational elliptic surface . We also show how these tori can be non-isotopically embedded as homologous symplectic submanifolds in other symplectic 4-manifolds.  相似文献

For a symplectic monotone manifold (P,ω) and φSymp0(P,ω), we define a -graded symplectic Floer cohomology (a local invariant) over integral coefficients. There is a spectral sequence which arises from a filtration on the -graded symplectic Floer cochain complex. The spectral sequence converges to the -graded symplectic Floer cohomology (a global invariant). We show that there are cross products on the -graded symplectic Floer cohomology and on the spectral sequence, hence on the usual -graded symplectic Floer cohomology. The Künneth formula for the -graded symplectic Floer cohomology is proved and similar results for the spectral sequence are obtained.  相似文献

Let (M,ω) be a symplectic manifold and G a compact Lie group that acts on M. Assume that the action of G on M is Hamiltonian. Then a G-equivariant Hamiltonian map on M induces a map on the symplectic quotient of M by G. Consider an autonomous Hamiltonian H with compact support on M, with no non-constant closed trajectory in time less than 1 and time-1 map fH. If the map fH descends to the symplectic quotient to a map Φ(fH) and the symplectic manifold M is exact and Ham(M,ω) has no short loops, we prove that the Hofer norm of the induced map Φ(fH) is bounded above by the Hofer norm of fH.  相似文献

Arnold conjectured that every Legendrian knot in the standard contact structure on the 3-sphere possesses a characteristic chord with respect to any contact form. I confirm this conjecture if the know has Thurston-Bennequin invariant −1. More generally, existence of chords is proved for a standard Legendrian unknot on the boundary of a subcritical Stein manifold of any dimension. There is also a multiplicity result which implies in some situations existence of infinitely many chords.?The proof relies on the behaviour of symplectic homology under handle attaching. The main observation is that symplectic homology only changes in the presence of chords. Received July 14, 2000 / final version received June 1, 2001?Published online August 1, 2001  相似文献

We consider Lagrangian Floer cohomology for a pair of Lagrangian submanifolds in a symplectic manifold M. Suppose that M carries a symplectic involution, which preserves both submanifolds. Under various topological hypotheses, we prove a localization theorem for Floer cohomology, which implies a Smith-type inequality for the Floer cohomology groups in M and its fixed point set. Two applications to symplectic Khovanov cohomology are included.  相似文献

We use cohomological methods to study the existence of symplectic structures on nilmanifolds associated to two-step nilpotent Lie groups. We construct a new family of symplectic nilmanifolds with building blocks the quaternionic analogue of the Heisenberg group, determining the dimension of the space of all left invariant symplectic structures. Such structures can not be K?hlerian. Also, we prove that the nilmanifolds associated to H type groups are not symplectic unless they correspond to the classical Heisenberg groups. The Chern character of a complex vector bundle is most conveniently defined as the exponential of a curvature of a connection. It is well known that its cohomology class does not depend on the particular connection chosen. It has been shown by Quillen that a connection may be perturbed by an endomorphism of the vector bundle, such as a symbol of some elliptic differential operator. This point of view, as we intend to show, allows one to relate Chern character to a noncommutative sibling formulated by Connes and Moscovici.  相似文献

In this paper, based upon the basic theory for glued manifolds in M.W. Hirsch (1976) [8, Chapter 8, §2 Gluing Manifolds Together], we give a method of constructing homeomorphisms between two small covers over simple convex polytopes. As a result we classify, up to homeomorphism, all small covers over a 3-dimensional prism P3(m) with m?3. We introduce two invariants from colored prisms and other two invariants from ordinary cohomology rings with Z2-coefficients of small covers. These invariants can form a complete invariant system of homeomorphism types of all small covers over a prism in most cases. Then we show that the cohomological rigidity holds for all small covers over a prism P3(m) (i.e., cohomology rings with Z2-coefficients of all small covers over a P3(m) determine their homeomorphism types). In addition, we also calculate the number of homeomorphism types of all small covers over P3(m).  相似文献
