We present direct measurements of the lifetime of the 4F5/2 and 2H(2)9/2 manifold in Nd3+:YLiF4, using a fluorescence pump-probe technique. The technique populates the 4F5/2 and 2H(2)9/2 manifold directly with a pump pulse. Via excited state absorption from this excited manifold, the 2F(2)5/2 manifold of Nd3+ is populated with a delayed probe pulse. The population in the 4F5/2 and 2H(2)9/2 manifold is monitored as a function of time by observing the change in integrated UV fluorescence from the 2F(2)5/2 manifold for each time delay between pump and probe pulses. The pump and probe beams come from the fundamental and second harmonic wavelengths of a femtosecond Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier. The measured lifetime agrees well with the energy gap law, based on other nonradiative lifetime measurements from the literature for Nd3+:YLiF4.  相似文献

Neutron scattering results on single crystals shed light on the static and dynamic properties of the superconductor () PuCoGa5 and its isostructural but antiferromagnetic () homologue NpCoGa5. By polarized neutron diffraction the magnetization density in the paramagnetic state of both compounds has been inferred. The microscopic magnetization of NpCoGa5 is consistent with the orbital and spin components of a localized Np3+ magnetic moment. In the case of PuCoGa5 the microscopic magnetization is small, temperature-independent and cannot be described as a localized Pu3+ magnetic moment. For NpCoGa5 a dynamic magnetic signal has been observed by three-axis spectroscopy in the antiferromagnetically ordered state. The magnetic signal is strongest at the antiferromagnetic zone center and an energy transfer of about 5 meV. Magnetic fluctuations persist at this position in the paramagnetic state. The dynamic response is similar to the dynamic response observed in other actinide intermetallic compounds. This supports the possibility that magnetic fluctuations could also be present in the paramagnetic superconductor PuCoGa5.  相似文献

We have carried out specific heat measurements on EuIn2P2 at high magnetic fields perpendicular to the c-axis in the hexagonal crystal structure in order to understand its thermal properties. The temperature dependence of the specific heat exhibits a clear λ-type anomaly due to a magnetic transition at , indicating that the magnetic transition is of second-order. The λ-type anomaly becomes markedly broader with increasing the magnetic field. This remarkable field-dependence is consistent with the results of previous magnetization measurements which suggest that Eu2+ magnetic moments align ferromagnetically perpendicular to the c-axis below TC. In addition, a hump in the specific heat is observed around 7 K, which can be ascribed to the Zeeman splitting of the Eu2+ multiplet by internal magnetic fields.  相似文献

Since the energy of a reactor neutrino is a few MeV, all , and oscillations are accessible by reactor neutrino experiments. KamLAND observed the oscillation and currently Double Chooz, RENO and Dayabay experiments are under construction aiming to detect oscillation. There are still good prospects for future reactor neutrino experiments after them. For example, there is room to further improve sin22θ13 accuracy at a baseline of ∼1.5 km, a very precise sin22θ12 measurement and the determination of mass hierarchy may be possible at a baseline ∼50 km, and if KamLAND is enlarged to the SuperKamiokande size, better measurement of and sin22θ12 will be anticipated. It is important to take into account such possibilities when planning future neutrino program after θ13 is measured by current experiments.  相似文献

Recent reports on superconductivity in parent compounds [RE = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd] prepared by metal-organic decomposition (MOD) shed new light on the electronic and magnetic phase diagram of electron-doped cuprates. A thorough reduction process is the key to inducing superconductivity in square-planar coordinated cuprates. In this work, Pr2CuO4 films were grown epitaxially by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on (001)SrTiO3, (110)GdScO3 and (110)DyScO3 substrates. A modified two-step reduction process is required in order to obtain single-phase superconducting samples. The optimized superconducting properties are , while the room-temperature resistivity is about . Hence, we show that even amorphous Pr2CuOy films deposited on (110)DyScO3 become superconducting after the application of the two-step annealing process. These results indicate that superconductivity is induced to Pr2CuO4 by systematic optimization of the reduction conditions, irrespective of the synthesis route.  相似文献

The pressure induced broadening of a several pure rotational transitions of hypochlorous acid, HOCl, have been measured as a function of temperature. This set of rotational transitions is the dominant feature of the submillimeter spectrum in the range where several remote sensing instruments currently operate. Additional features throughout the submillimeter spectrum have been recorded at the full-resolution of the room temperature Doppler linewidth using multiplier chains in the 110- wavelengths.  相似文献

We have performed room temperature high pressure structural studies on the ferromagnetic perovskite SrRuO3 to 34 GPa. We have also used three different pressure media (silicone fluid, 4:1 methanol:ethanol and argon) to test for possible effects of pressure media on compression data. The orthorhombic perovskite structure is stable to the highest pressure, and the data can be fit with a bulk modulus of with a pressure derivative of for all of the pressure media. We have also examined the high pressure behavior of the RuO6 octahedra using a model that assumes the octahedra are not distorted. Various tilt angles around the ideal cubic perovskite axes are found and can be used to estimate the Ru-O-Ru bond angle that is known to be directly related to the ferromagnetic Curie temperature. For all pressure media, there appears to be a minimum in the Ru-O-Ru bond angle around 15 GPa. Implications for the observed high pressure magnetic behavior of SrRuO3 will be discussed.  相似文献

The magnetic anisotropy of epitaxial Fe films with thicknesses in the range of 2-142 monolayers (ML) grown on {4×2} reconstructed InAs(0 0 1) was investigated by in situ ferromagnetic resonance. The easy magnetization direction was found to be parallel to the -direction for Fe films below 4 ML, while it rotates by 45° toward the -direction. It is observed that both surface-interface and volume contribution to the perpendicular anisotropy favor an easy axis perpendicular to the film plane. The cubic surface-interface anisotropy is relatively large with easy axes along -directions in contrast to the volume contribution which favors easy axes along the -directions. The volume contribution is found to be larger than the Fe bulk cubic anisotropy. A thickness independent uniaxial anisotropy has been found in films with a thickness of 2 up to 142 ML.  相似文献

The shapes of the astrophysically interesting neutral manganese (Mn I) resonance spectral lines (403.075, 403.306, 403.448, 279.481, 279.826 and 280.108 nm) have been observed together with six other prominent Mn I lines in the laboratory helium plasma at a 47 000 K electron temperature and electron density. With these plasma parameters the Stark broadening has been found to be an important mechanism in the Mn I line shape formation. Our measured Mn I Stark widths (W) are the first data in the literature. Stark widths are compared with line hyperfine structure splittings (Δhfs). At above mentioned helium plasma conditions the line broadening due to hyperfine structure splitting of the lines is less than that of the Stark and Doppler broadening for the case of the Mn I lines under investigation. We estimate that at electron densities below and electron temperatures below 4000 K the components in the hyperfine structure play an important role in the mentioned Mn I line shape formation.  相似文献

We present ab initio calculation results for electron-phonon (e-ph) contribution to hole lifetime broadening of the surface state on Al(0 0 1). We show that e-ph coupling in this state is significantly stronger than in bulk Al at the Fermi level. It makes the e-ph decay channel very important in the formation of the hole decay in the surface state at . We also present the results for e-e lifetime broadening in a quantum-well state in 1 ML K/Cu(1 1 1). We show that this contribution is not negligible and is much larger than that in a surface state on Ag(1 1 1).  相似文献

Three groups of strong fluorescence peaks of C60, centered at 440, 575 and 700 nm, are observed in the supersaturated C60-pyridine solution, and the onsite fluorescence spectra of this C60-pyridine system in the first and second electrochemistry reduction processes are obtained for the first time. The results indicate that the fluorescence peaks centered at 440 nm originate from C60 molecules dissolved in supersaturated C60-pyridine solution, while fluorescence bands centered at 575 and 700 nm are emitted from undissolved C60. It is also proved that a strong charge transfer interaction, which is significant for the symmetry increase of , as well as the formation of a transmission channel of energy, occurs between and pyridine, as is supported by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra as well.  相似文献

We present in this paper a new 3D half-moment model for radiative transfer in a gray medium, called the model, which uses maximum entropy closure. This model is a generalization to 3D of the 1D version recently proposed in (J. Comp. Phys. 180 (2002) 584). The direction space Ω is divided into two pieces, Ω+ and Ω-, in a dynamical way by the plane perpendicular to the total radiative flux, and the half moments are defined from these subspaces. The model closure and the integrations of the radiative transfer equation performed on the moving Ω± spaces are detailed. 1D planar results, which have motivated the extension of the model of (J. Comp. Phys. 180 (2002) 584) to multi-dimensions, are shown. These results are very good. The model is thereafter derived for 3D spherically symmetric geometry, where the correctness of the non-trivial border terms can be checked. Two 3D spherically symmetric problems are numerically solved in order to show the accuracy of the closure and the role of the border terms. Once again, compared to the solution obtained with a ray tracing solver, results are very good. From the 3D half-moment model, a new moment model, called , is derived for the particular case of a 3D hot and opaque source radiating into a cold medium, for applications such as simulations of stellar atmospheres and fires. Two-dimensional numerical results are presented and compared to those obtained solving the RTE and with other moment models. They demonstrate the very good accuracy of the model, its good convergence properties, and better prediction compared to all other existing moment models in its domain of applicability.  相似文献

We present in this work an investigation of the magnetic behavior of FePt films as a function of film thickness and thermal treatment. The films have been sputter-deposited on oxidized Si (1 0 0) crystals and are ferromagnetic at room temperature. Using ferromagnetic resonance techniques at 9.5 GHz we have studied a series of four films with a thickness in the range . The resonance spectra of these films were measured at and also above room temperature. The high temperature measurements produce irreversible changes in the samples which depend on the maximum temperature reached during the experiment. For relatively low measuring temperatures () the magnetic properties are generally improved, probably due to the release of stress formed during film fabrication. For larger temperatures () the absorption linewidth gradually broadens and the line could be hardly observed at room temperature if the measuring temperature exceeded . This behavior is due to the partial transformation of the metastable FCC phase to the ordered L10 high anisotropy phase. These data are consistent with the results found in samples annealed outside the resonant cavity.  相似文献

The potential energy curve of Be2 in its ground electronic state is constructed by morphing accurate MR-CI ab initio potentials from the literature to available experimental ro-vibrational data within the framework of the reduced potential curve (RPC) approach of Jen? and Plíva [Adv. At. Mol. Phys. 19 (1983) 265-307]. The resulting potential energy curves are in close harmony with experiment allowing thus for reliable prediction of the so-far experimentally unprobed part of the molecular potential energy function.  相似文献

We present a new information theoretic approach for network characterizations. It is developed to describe the general type of networks with n nodes and L directed and weighted links, i.e., it also works for the simpler undirected and unweighted networks. The new information theoretic measures for network characterizations are based on a transmitter-receiver analogy of effluxes and influxes. Based on these measures, we classify networks as either complex or non-complex and as either democracy or dictatorship networks. Directed networks, in particular, are furthermore classified as either information spreading and information collecting networks. The complexity classification is based on the information theoretic network complexity measure medium articulation (MA). It is proven that special networks with a medium number of links (Ln1.5) show the theoretical maximum complexity . A network is complex if its MA is larger than the average MA of appropriately randomized networks: MA>MAr. A network is of the democracy type if its redundancy R<Rr, otherwise it is a dictatorship network. In democracy networks all nodes are, on average, of similar importance, whereas in dictatorship networks some nodes play distinguished roles in network functioning. In other words, democracy networks are characterized by cycling of information (or mass, or energy), while in dictatorship networks there is a straight through-flow from sources to sinks. The classification of directed networks into information spreading and information collecting networks is based on the conditional entropies of the considered networks (H(A/B)=uncertainty of sender node if receiver node is known, H(B/A)=uncertainty of receiver node if sender node is known): if H(A/B)>H(B/A), it is an information collecting network, otherwise an information spreading network. Finally, different real networks (directed and undirected, weighted and unweighted) are classified according to our general scheme.  相似文献

We present a femtosecond laser-based technique for etching and forward transfer of bulk transparent materials in solid-phase. Femtosecond laser pulses with were focused through a fused silica block onto an absorbing thin film of Cr. A constraining Si wafer was pressed into tight contact with the Cr film to prevent lift-off of the film. A combination of the high temperature and pressure of the Cr, and compressive stress from the Si, resulted in etching of smooth features from the fused silica by cracking. Unlike in conventional ablative or chemical etching, the silica was removed from the bulk as single solid-phase pieces which could be collected on the Si. Using this so-called laser-induced solid etching (LISE) technique, 1-2 m deep pits and channels have been produced in the silica surface, and corresponding dots and lines deposited on the Si. The threshold fluence for etching was found to be with duration pulses. The morphology of the etched features are investigated as functions of fluence and exposure to multiple pulses.  相似文献
