For a 0-dimensional schemeX on a smooth quadricQ we define a special type of resolution of its ideal sheaf as a locally freeO Q. These resolutions allow to find, for schemes which are generic inQ, the minimal free resolution ofX as a subscheme of ℙ3. For almost all such schemes the graded Betti numbers in ℙ3 depend only on the Hilbert function ofX in ℙ3. Let X⊂ℙ N be either a threefold of Calabi–Yau or of general type (embedded with r K X ). In this article we give lower and upper bounds, linear on the degree of X and N, for the Euler number of X. As a corollary we obtain the boundedness of the region described by the Chern ratios of threefolds with ample canonical bundle and a new upper bound for the number of nodes of a complete intersection threefold. Let A, B be two archimedean ℓ-algebras and let U,V be two positive linear maps from A to B. We call that the couple (U,V) is separating with respect to A and B if |a||b| = 0 in A implies |U (a)||V (b)| = 0 in B. In this paper, we prove that if A is an f-algebra with unit elment e, if B is an ℓ-algebra and if (U,V) is a separating couple with respect to A and B then (U ∼∼,V ∼∼), where U ∼∼ (resp V ∼∼) is the bi-adjoint of U (resp of V), is again a separating couple with respect to the order continuous order biduals (A′)′ n and (B′)′ n of A and B respectively furnished with their Arens products respectively. In this work we prove that ℙ ism-basic if and only if everym.a.e. finite purely excessive function is represented by a unique exit law for ℙ. An explicit computation of the so-called string-theoretic E-function of a normal complex variety X with at most log-terminal singularities can be achieved by constructing one snc-desingularization of X, accompanied with the intersection graph of the exceptional prime divisors, and with the precise knowledge of their structure. In the present paper, it is shown that this is feasible for the case in which X is the underlying space of a class of absolutely isolated singularities (including both usual ? n -singularities and Fermat singularities of arbitrary dimension). As byproduct of the exact evaluation of lim, for this class of singularities, one gets counterexamples to a conjecture of Batyrev concerning the boundedness of the string-theoretic index. Finally, the string-theoretic Euler number is also computed for global complete intersections in ℙ N with prescribed singularities of the above type. In this paper we give a term equivalence between the simple k-cyclic Post algebra of order p, L p,k, and the finite field F(p k) with constants F(p). By using Lagrange polynomials, we give an explicit procedure to obtain an interpretation Φ1 of the variety V(L p,k) generated by L p,k into the variety V(F(p k)) generated by F(p k) and an interpretation Φ2 of V(F(p k)) into V(L p,k) such that Φ2Φ1(B) = B for every B ε V(L p,k) and Φ1Φ2(R) = R for every R ε V(F(p k)).  相似文献

The Baum-Bott map associates to a foliation the Baum-Bott indexes of their singularities. In this paper we study the fibers of the Baum-Bott map in the space of foliations of degree two on the projective plane ℙ2. In the main result we prove that its generic fiber contains exactly 240 orbits of the natural action of Aut(ℙ2) onthespace of foliations.  相似文献

In this note we are interested in the graded modulesM k=I(k)/Ik and , whereI is a saturated ideal in the homogeneous coordinate ringS=K[x0,…,xn] of ℙn,I (k) is the symbolic power and is the saturation of the ordinary power. Very little is known about these modules, and we provide a bound on their diameters, we compute the Hilbert functions and we study some characteristic submodules in the special case ofn+1 general points in ℙn.

In this paper we study 16 complete intersection K3-fibered Calabi--Yau variety types in biprojective space ℙ n 1}×ℙ1. These are all the CICY-types that are K3 fibered by the projection on the second factor. We prove existence of isolated rational curves of bidegree (d,0) for every positive integer d on a general Calabi–Yau variety of these types. The proof depends heavily on existence theorems for curves on K3-surfaces proved by S. Mori and K. Oguiso. Some of these varieties are related to Calabi–Yau varieties in projective space by a determinantal contraction, and we use this to prove existence of rational curves of every degree for a general Calabi–Yau variety in projective space.  In this paper we study laminar currents in ℙ2. Given a sequence of irreducible algebraic curves (C n ) converging in the sense of currents to T, we find geometric conditions on the curves ensuring that the limit current T is laminar. This criterion is then applied to meromorphic dynamical systems in ℙ2, and laminarity of the dynamical ``Green' current is obtained for a wide class of meromorphic self maps of ℙ2, as well as for all bimeromorphic maps of projective surfaces. We show the nonvanishing of H 0(X,−K X ) for any a Fano 3-fold X for which −K X is a multiple of another Weil divisor in Cl(X). The main case we study is Fano 3-folds with Fano index 2: that is, 3-folds X with rank Pic(X)=1, -factorial terminal singularities and −K X  = 2A for an ample Weil divisor A. We give a first classification of all possible Hilbert series of such polarised varieties (X,A) and deduce both the nonvanishing of H 0(X,−K X ) and the sharp bound (−K X )3≥ 8/165. We find the families that can be realised in codimension up to 4.  相似文献

The diameter rigidity theorem of Gromoll and Grove [1987] states that a Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature ≥ 1 and diameter ≥ π/2 is either homeomorphic to a sphere, locally isometric to a rank one symmetric space, or it has the cohomology ring of the Cayley plane Caℙ. The reason that they were only able to recognize the cohomology ring of Caℙ is due to an exceptional case in another theorem [Gromoll and Grove, 1988]: A Riemannian submersion σ:?mB b with connected fibers that is defined on the Euclidean sphere ?m is metrically congruent to a Hopf fibration unless possibly (m,b)=(15,8). We will rule out the exceptional cases in both theorems. Our argument relies on a rather unusal application of Morse theory. For that purpose we give a general criterion which allows to decide whether the Morse index of a closed geodesic is even or odd. Summary.  We prove that the derivative of a differentiable family X t (a) of continuous martingales in a manifold M is a martingale in the tangent space for the complete lift of the connection in M, provided that the derivative is bicontinuous in t and a. We consider a filtered probability space (Ω,(ℱ t )0≤ t ≤1, ℙ) such that all the real martingales have a continuous version, and a manifold M endowed with an analytic connection and such that the complexification of M has strong convex geometry. We prove that, given an analytic family aL(a) of random variable with values in M and such that L(0)≡x 0M, there exists an analytic family aX(a) of continuous martingales such that X 1(a)=L(a). For this, we investigate the convexity of the tangent spaces T ( n ) M, and we prove that any continuous martingale in any manifold can be uniformly approximated by a discrete martingale up to a stopping time T such that ℙ(T<1) is arbitrarily small. We use this construction of families of martingales in complex analytic manifolds to prove that every ℱ1-measurable random variable with values in a compact convex set V with convex geometry in a manifold with a C 1 connection is reachable by a V-valued martingale. In this article we compute the pinching constants of all invariant Riemannian metrics on the Berger space B 13=SU(5)/(Sp(2)×ℤ2S1) and of all invariant U(2)-biinvariant Riemannian metrics on the Aloff–Wallach space W 7 1,1=SU(3)/S1 1,1. We prove that the optimal pinching constants are precisely in both cases. So far B 13 and W 7 1,1 were only known to admit Riemannian metrics with pinching constants .?We also investigate the optimal pinching constants for the invariant metrics on the other Aloff–Wallach spaces W 7 k,l =SU(3)/S1 k,l . Our computations cover the cone of invariant T2-biinvariant Riemannian metrics. This cone contains all invariant Riemannian metrics unless k/l=1. It turns out that the optimal pinching constants are given by a strictly increasing function in k/l∈[0,1]. Thus all the optimal pinching constants are ≤.?In order to determine the extremal values of the sectional curvature of an invariant Riemannian metric on W 7 k,l we employ a systematic technique, which can be applied to other spaces as well. The computation of the pinching constants for B 13 is reduced to the curvature computation for two proper totally geodesic submanifolds. One of them is diffeomorphic to ℂℙ3/ℤ2 and inherits an Sp(2)-invariant Riemannian metric, and the other is W 7 1,1 embedded as recently found by Taimanov. This approach explains in particular the coincidence of the optimal pinching constants for W 7 1,1 and the Berger space B 13. After the contributions of Furushima, Nakayama, Peternell and Schneider, in 1993, Furushima [Fur93] finally succeeded in the classification of the compactifications of the affine 3-space into smooth Fano 3-folds with B2=1. In this paper, we consider the compactifications of the contractible affine 3-folds X (not necessarily X=) into smooth Fano 3-folds V with B2=2. Consequently, we classify all such compactifications X↪(V,D1D2) in the case where KV+D1+D2 is not nef. Furthermore, we see that infinitely many mutually non-isomorphic exotic 's can be compactified into Fano 3-folds with B2=2. This phenomenon never occurs when B2=1.
