Measurements of the π0 and direct photon nuclear modification factors in p+p and A+A collisions in the PHENIX experiment at RHIC will be reviewed and recent results at  GeV will be presented. Using for the first time the p+p reference measured in the same experiment instead of averaging world data the π0 suppression turns out to be almost as large at  GeV as at  GeV, implying gluon densities dNg/dy>800. Possible origins of photon suppression at high pT in  GeV are discussed in light of the new results on photon RAA at  GeV.  相似文献

The -decay of 149Ba to 149La has been investigated by means of - and X-ray spectroscopy, and a partial level scheme of 149La has been constructed for the first time. It includes thirteen -rays and ten excited states. The exotic 149La is the heaviest lanthanum for which spectroscopic information is now available. We have applied the shell correction approach with the axially deformed Woods-Saxon potential in order to calculate the deformation energy for the 149La ground state. The deformed ground state was found at 0.23, 0 and 0.12.Received: 18 July 2003, Revised: 12 January 2004, Published online: 26 May 2004PACS: 27.60. + j - 29.30.Kv X- and -ray spectroscopy  相似文献

The quadrupole interaction of high-spin isomers in 193Pb implanted into solid Hg cooled at a temperature T = 170 K has been investigated by the time-differential perturbed -ray angular-distribution method. Spectroscopic quadrupole moment values of eb and 0.45(4) eb have been deduced for the 21/2- and 33/2 + three-neutron states, respectively. A much higher value eb has been determined for the 29/2- isomer, the band head of a magnetic rotational band.Received: 4 November 2002, Published online: 2 March 2004PACS: 21.10.Ky Electromagnetic moments - 27.80. + w   相似文献

We compute the one-loop -functions describing the renormalisation of the coupling constant and the frequency parameter for the real four-dimensional duality-covariant non-commutative -model, which is renormalisable to all orders. The contribution from the one-loop four-point function is reduced by the one-loop wavefunction renormalisation, but the -function remains non-negative. Both and vanish at the one-loop level for the duality-invariant model characterised by . Moreover, also vanishes in the limit , which defines the standard non-commutative -quantum field theory. Thus, the limit exists at least at the one-loop level.Received: 19 March 2004, Published online: 5 May 2004  相似文献

The Penning trap mass spectrometer JYFLTRAP was used to measure the atomic masses of radioactive nuclei with an uncertainty better than 10 keV. The atomic masses of the neutron-deficient nuclei around the line were measured to improve the understanding of the rp-process path and the SbSnTe cycle. Furthermore, the masses of the neutron-rich gallium ( ) to palladium ( ) nuclei have been measured. The physics impacts on the nuclear structure and the r-process paths are reviewed. A better understanding of the nuclear deformation is presented by studying the pairing energy around .  相似文献

The anomalous weak dipole moments of the lepton are measured in a data sample collected by ALEPH from 1990 to 1995 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 155 pb-1. Tau leptons produced in the reaction at energies close to the mass are studied using their semileptonic decays to , , or . The real and imaginary components of both the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment and the CP-violating anomalous weak electric dipole moment, , , and , are measured simultaneously by means of a likelihood fit built from the full differential cross section. No evidence of new physics is found. The following bounds are obtained (95% CL): , , , and .Received: 25 September 2002, Published online: 29 August 2003  相似文献

The nuclear magnetic moment of the ground state of 57Cu(Iπ = 3/2-, T1/2 = 196.3 ms) has been measured to be |μ(57Cu)| = (2.00 ±0.05) μN using the β-NMR technique. Together with the known magnetic moment of the mirror partner 57Ni, the spin expectation value was extracted as = -0.78 ± 0.13. Discrepancy between present results and shell model calculations in the full fp shell implies significant shell breaking at 56Ni with the neutron number N = 28.  相似文献

Exotic, neutron-rich proton-induced spallation products of 232Th and 238U obtained from the PS Booster ISOLDE facility have been investigated by - , - coincidence and spectrum-multiscaling measurements. A new method for the reduction of isobaric contamination enabled to study the unknown region beyond 208Pb for the decay chain A = 217. The production of , D0, D + , Ds + and charm hadrons and their antiparticles in e p scattering at HERA was measured with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of . The measurement has been performed in the photoproduction regime with the exchanged-photon virtuality and for photon-proton centre-of-mass energies in the range . The charm hadrons were reconstructed in the range of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity . The production cross sections were used to determine the ratio of neutral and charged D-meson production rates, , the strangeness-suppression factor, , and the fraction of charged D mesons produced in a vector state, . The measured and values agree with those obtained in deep inelastic scattering and in e + e- annihilations. The measured value is smaller than, but consistent with, the previous measurements. The fractions of c quarks hadronising as a particular charm hadron, , were derived in the given kinematic range. The measured open-charm fragmentation fractions are consistent with previous results, although the measured is smaller and is larger than those obtained in e + e- annihilations. These results generally support the hypothesis that fragmentation proceeds independently of the hard sub-process. The effects of the open boundaries on the dynamical behavior of the optimal velocity traffic flow models with a delay time allowing the car to reach its optimal velocity is studied using numerical simulations. The particles could enter the chain with a given injecting rate probability , and could leave the system with a given extracting rate probability . In the absence of the variation of the delay time , it is found that the transition from unstable to metastable and from metastable to stable state occur under the effect of the probabilities rates and . However, for a fixed value of , there exist a critical value of the extraction rate above which the wave density disappears and the metastable state appears and a critical value above which the metastable state disappears while the stable state appears. and depend on the values of and the variation of the delay time . Indeed and increase when increasing and/or decreasing . The flow of vehicles is calculated as a function of , and for a fixed value of . Phase diagrams in the ( ) plane exhibits four different phases namely, unstable, metastable, stable. The transition line between stable phase and the unstable one is curved and it is of first order type. While the transition between stable (unstable) phase and the metastable phase are of second order type. The region of the metastable phase shrinks with increasing the variation of the delay time and disappears completely above a critical value .Received: 23 July 2003, Published online: 8 December 2003PACS: 05.50. + q Lattice theory and statistics (Ising, Potts, etc.) - 64.60.Cn Order-disorder transformations; statistical mechanics of model systems - 75.30.Kz Magnetic phase boundaries (including magnetic transitions, metamagnetism, etc.) - 82.20.Wt Computational modeling; simulation  相似文献

In this work a measuring method for determination of the thermal diffusivity of SiC substrates commonly used in electronic industry is proposed. Such substrates are (300 900) μm thick plates, The method bases on generation of temperature field disturbance in the sample by modulated light beam. Fitting of theoretical curves to the ratio of signals measured in two experimental geometries as a function of modulation frequency allows determination of the thermal diffusivity and optical absorption of the sample. Optical absorption is also measured independently using typical spectrometer. Results obtained for a few SiC substrates confirm usability of proposed method for investigation of such samples. Determined thermal diffusivities of polycrystalline samples are of the order of (0.2 0.5) cm2 s - 1. The thermal diffusivities of single crystals are considerably higher and reach (1.3 1.5) cm2 s-1.  相似文献

We calculate the absorption probability of photons radiated from the surface of the Sun by a left-handed neutrino with definite mass and a typical momentum for which we choose |p1| = 0.2 MeV, producing a heavier right-handed antineutrino. Considering the two transitions and we obtain the two oscillation lengths L12 = 4960.8 m, L23 = 198.4 m, the two absorption probabilities P12abs. = 2.5 x 10-67, P23abs. = 1.2 x 10-58 and the two absorption ranges au, au, using a neutrino mass differences of meV, meV and associated transition dipole moments. We collect all necessary theoretical ingredients, i.e. neutrino mass and mixing scheme, induced electromagnetic transition dipole moments, quadratic charged lepton mass asymmetries and their interdependence.Received: 4 November 2003, Revised: 23 March 2004, Published online: 5 May 2004  相似文献

Particle physics has become an interesting testing ground for fundamental questions of quantum mechanics (QM). The massive meson-antimeson systems are specially suitable as they offer a unique laboratory to test various aspects of particle physics ( violation, violation, ...) as well to test the foundations of QM (local realistic theories versus QM, Bell inequalities, decoherence effects, quantum marking and erasure concepts, ...). We focus here on a surprising connection between the violation of a symmetry in particle physics –the symmetry ( =charge conjugation, =parity)– and non-locality. This is achieved via Bell inequalities which discriminate between local realistic theories and QM. Further we present a decoherence model which can be tested by accelerator experiments at the DAΦNE (Italy) and at the KEK-B machine (Japan). We show that there is a simple connection between a decoherence parameter and different measures of entanglement, i.e., entanglement of formation and concurrence. In this way the very basic mathematical and theoretical concepts about entanglement can be confronted directly with experiments. Similar decoherence models can also be tested for entangled photon systems and single neutrons in an interferometer.  相似文献

A search for lepton-flavor-violating interactions and has been performed with the ZEUS detector using the entire HERA I data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The data were taken at center-of-mass energies, , of 300 and . No evidence of lepton-flavor violation was found, and constraints were derived on leptoquarks (LQs) that could mediate such interactions. For LQ masses below , limits were set on , where is the coupling of the LQ to an electron and a first-generation quark q1, and is the branching ratio of the LQ to the final-state lepton (μ or ) and a quark q. For LQ masses much larger than , limits were set on the four-fermion interaction term for LQs that couple to an electron and a quark and to a lepton and a quark , where and are quark generation indices. Some of the limits are also applicable to lepton-flavor-violating processes mediated by squarks in R-Parity-violating supersymmetric models. In some cases, especially when a higher-generation quark is involved and for the process , the ZEUS limits are the most stringent to date. The very neutron-deficient nuclide 129Pm was produced via the 92Mo(40Ca, p2n) reaction and identified for the first time by using the X- coincidence in combination with a He jet tape transport system. According to the decay curve of a 99 keV -ray which corresponds to the known transition in the daughter nucleus 129Nd of the 129Pm decay, the half-life of 129Pm was determined to be 2.4(9) s. Based on the nuclear potential energy surface (PES) calculations, the ground-state spin-parity of 129Pm was predicted as 5/2- which is favorable to feed a 5/2- low-lying state in the daughter nucleus 129Nd via the (EC ) decay.Received: 20 November 2003, Revised: 7 January 2004, Published online: 29 June 2004PACS: 23.40.Hc Relation with nuclear matrix elements and nuclear structure - 21.10.Hw Spin, parity, and isobaric spin - 24.10.Pa Thermal and statistical models - 27.60. + j   相似文献

A T 1/2 = 16(2)ns isomeric level, populated in the spontaneous fission of 248Cm, has been found in 101Zr at 941.8keV in a measurement of prompt -rays using the EUROGAM2 array. The level is interpreted as a K-isomer corresponding to the 9/2[404] neutron-hole excitation. The quadrupole moment, Q 0 = 3.6(4)eb, deduced for the new band indicates a large deformation of , which is produced by a specific shape-coexistence mechanism. This is another observation of the 9/2[404] orbital in the mass region, confirming the presence of the effect reported first in our previous work. The 9/2[404] neutron-hole excitation is also confirmed in the 97Sr nucleus and the deformation is determined for this configuration. The properties of the 9/2[404] neutron orbital and its influence on the onset of deformation in the region are discussed.PACS: 23.20.Lv transitions and level energies - 21.60.Cs Shell model - 25.85.Ca Spontaneous fission - 27.60. + j   相似文献

Measurements of the time-dependent CP-asymmetry in the decay and its charge conjugate by the BELLE and BABAR collaborations currently yield and , characterizing the direct and mixing-induced CP-asymmetries, respectively. We study the implication of these measurements on the CKM phenomenology taking into account the available information in the quark mixing sector. Our analysis leads to the results that the ratio |P c /T c | involving the QCD-penguin and tree amplitudes and the related strong phase difference in the decays are quite substantial. Using the isospin symmetry to constrain |P c /T c | and , where parameterizes the penguin-induced contribution, we present a fit of the current data including the measurements of and . Our best-fits yield , , , , and . At 68% C.L., the ranges are , , , and . Currently en vogue dynamical approaches to estimate the hadronic matrix elements in decays do not provide a good fit of the current data.Received: 5 April 2004, Published online: 14 July 2004A.Ya. A measurement is presented of elastic deeply virtual Compton scattering made using e + p collision data corresponding to a luminosity of 46.5 pb-1, taken with the H1 detector at HERA. The cross section is measured as a function of the photon virtuality, Q 2, the invariant mass of the p system, W, and for the first time, differentially in the squared momentum transfer at the proton vertex, t, in the kinematic range , and . QCD based calculations at next-to-leading order using generalized parton distributions can describe the data, as can colour dipole model predictions.Received: 19 May 2005, Revised: 23 June 2005, Published online: 19 August 2005  相似文献

The isotopes 251No and 253No were produced in nuclear reactions 206Pb(48Ca,3n)251No and 207Pb (48Ca,2n)253No. Radioactive decay of these isotopes and their daughter products has been investigated by means of - and - - spectroscopy. An isomeric state 251m No, having a half-life of s and decaying by emission of particles of keV was identified. The measured decay data allowed for the construction of partial level schemes for 251No, 247,249Fm and 243,245Cf and an extrapolation of energy systematics of single particle levels of N = 145, 147 and 149 isotones with even Z towards higher atomic numbers up to Z = 102.PACS: 23.60. + e decay - 27.90. + b - 21.10.-k Properties of nuclei; nuclear energy levels  相似文献

For a homogeneous quantum network of N subsystems with n levels each we consider separable generalized Werner states. A generalized Werner state is defined as a mixture of the totally mixed state and an arbitrary pure state : with a mixture coefficient . For this density operator to be separable, will have an upper bound . Below this bound one should alternatively be able to reproduce by a mixture of entirely separable input-states. For this purpose we introduce a set of modules, each contributing elementary coherence properties with respect to a generalized coherence vector. Based on these there exists a general step-by-step mixing process for any . For being a cat-state it is possible to define an optimal process, which produces states right up to the separability boundary ( ).Received: 3 December 2002, Published online: 29 July 2003PACS: 03.65.Ud Entanglement and quantum nonlocality (e.g. EPR paradox, Bells inequalities, GHZ states, etc.) - 03.67.-a Quantum information - 03.65.-w Quantum mechanics  相似文献
