The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Cu(2+) impurities in [Co(nicotinamide)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](saccharinate)(2) single crystals have been studied at ambient temperature in three mutually perpendicular planes. The angular variation of the spectra shows that the Cu(2+) ion substitutes the Co(2+) site in the lattice. The EPR spectra of Cu(2+) ions are characteristic of tetragonally elongated octahedral site. The spin-Hamiltonien parameters were obtained from the single crystal EPR analysis. The ground-state wave function of Cu(2+) ion in the lattice has been constructed.  相似文献

Single crystal and powder EPR studies of VO2+ doped di-ammonium hydrogen citrate [(NH4)2C6H6O7] are carried out at room temperature. The angular variation of the EPR spectra show three different VO2+ complexes that are located in different chemical environment, and each environment contains two magnetically inequivalent VO2+ sites in distinct orientations occupying substitutional positions in the lattice. Crystalline field around the VO2+ ion is nearly axial. The optical absorption spectrum shows two bands centred at 16,949 and 12,345cm(-1). Spin Hamiltonian parameters and molecular orbital coefficients are calculated from the EPR and optical data, and results are discussed.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption spectra of vanadyl ions in zinc lead borate (ZnO-PbO-B2O3) glass system have been studied. EPR spectra of all the glass samples exhibit resonance signals characteristic of VO2+ ions. The values of spin-Hamiltonian parameters indicate that the VO2+ ions in zinc lead borate glasses were present in octahedral sites with tetragonal compression and belong to C4V symmetry. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters g and A are found to be independent of V2O5 content and temperature but changing with ZnO content. The decrease in Deltag( parallel)/Deltag( perpendicular) value with increase in ZnO content indicates that the symmetry around VO2+ ions is more octahedral. The decrease in intensity of EPR signal above 10 mol% of V2O5 is attributed to a fall in the ratio of the number of V4+ ions (N4) to the number of V5+ ions (N5). The number of spins (N) participating in resonance was calculated as a function of temperature for VO2+ doped zinc lead borate glass sample and the activation energy was calculated. From the EPR data, the paramagnetic susceptibility was calculated at various temperatures and the Curie constant was evaluated from the 1/chi-T graph. The optical absorption spectra show single absorption band due to VO2+ ions in tetragonally distorted octahedral sites.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance of VO(2+) doped sodium hydrogen oxalate monohydrate (NaHC(2)O(4).H(2)O) single crystals and powders are examined at room temperature. Single crystal rotations in each of the three mutually orthogonal crystalline planes namely ac*, b*c* and ab* indicate four different VO(2+) complexes with intensity ratios of 4:2:1:1. It is found from the EPR analysis that the Na(+) ions are replaced with the substitutional magnetically inequivalent VO(2+) ions. The powder spectrum also clearly indicates four different VO(2+) complexes, confirming the single crystal analysis. Crystalline field around the VO(2+) ion is nearly axial. The optical absorption spectrum show two bands centered at 15408 and 12453 cm(-1). Spin Hamiltonian parameters and molecular orbital coefficients are calculated from the EPR and optical data, and results are discussed.  相似文献

VO(2+) doped single crystal of Ba(2)Zn(HCOO)(6)(H2O)(4) (BZFA) were investigated using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique at ambient temperature. Detailed investigation of EPR spectra indicated that the VO(2+) substitutes the Zn(2+) in the structure. The sites with different orientations were observed for VO(2+) in Ba(2)Zn(HCOO)(6)(H2O)(4).single crystal, but the only intense site among these sites was evaluated to obtain spin-Hamiltonian parameters, which are the principal axis values of the g and the hyperfine tensors. The covalent bonding parameter for VO(2+) and Fermi contact term were calculated using the spin-Hamiltonian parameters.  相似文献

A copper-doped LiRbB4O7 crystal was grown by the Czochralski technique. Powder X-ray, EPR and optical absorption studies were carried out. The results and discussion of the copper doped LiRbB4O7 crystal indicate that the copper ions enter the host lattice by replacing Li ions. The Cu(II) ion spectrum is characteristic of a tetragonally elongated octahedral site. Lattice and spin-Hamiltonian parameters were evaluated. The bonding parameters indicate that the bonding between copper and the ligands is partly covalent.  相似文献

The optical band positions and EPR g factors g(i) (i = x, y, z) of Cu(H(2)O)(6)(2+) clusters in pure Tutton salts M(2)Cu(SO(4))(2)·6H(2)O (M = NH(4), Rb) are calculated from the complete diagonalization (of energy matrix) method based on the cluster approach. In the calculation, the superposition model with the structural data is used to obtain the crystal-field parameters. The calculated results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental values, suggesting that the complete diagonalization method and superposition model are effective in the studies of optical and EPR data. The g factors g(i) of Cu(H(2)O)(6)(2+) clusters in Cu(2+)-doped isomorphous diamagnetic Tutton salts M(2)Zn(SO(4))(2)·6H(2)O are also studied from the same method. It is found that the approximately tetragonally compressed Zn(H(2)O)(6)(2+) octahedra in the host crystals change to the approximately tetragonally elongated Cu(H(2)O)(6)(2+) octahedra in the impurity centers. The causes concerning the Jahn-Teller effect are discussed. It appears that in some cases the octahedral environment of an impurity M(I) in crystals differs from that of the replaced host ion, but is close to the one in the isomorphous pure crystals where M(I) is the host ion rather than the impurity ion.  相似文献

Cu(2+) doped single crystals of KH(2)PO(4) were investigated using EPR technique at room temperature. The spectra of the complex contains large number of overlapping lines. Five sites are resolved and four of them are compatible with the tetragonal symmetry, and the fifth one belongs to an interstitial site. The results are discussed and compared with previous studies. Detailed investigation of the EPR spectra indicate that Cu(2+) substitute with K(+) ions. The principal values of the g and hyperfine tensors and the ground state wave function of Cu(2+) ions are obtained.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), optical absorption, and FT-IR spectra of vanadyl ions in the sodium-lead borophosphate (Na(2)O-PbO-B(2)O(3)-P(2)O(5)) (SLBP) glass system have been studied. EPR spectra of all the glass samples exhibit resonance signals characteristic of VO(2+) ions. The spin Hamiltonian parameters g and A are found to be independent of the V(2)O(5) content and temperature. The values of the spin Hamiltonian parameters indicate that the VO(2+) ions in SLBP glasses are present in octahedral sites with tetragonal compression. The population difference between Zeeman levels (N) is calculated as a function of temperature for an SLBP glass sample containing 1.0 mol % VO(2+) ions. From the EPR data, the paramagnetic susceptibility (χ) is calculated at different temperatures, and the Curie constant (C) is calculated from the 1/χ versus T graph. The optical absorption spectra of the glass samples show two absorption bands, and they are attributed to V(3+) and V(4+) ions. The optical band gap energy (E(opt)) and Urbach energy (ΔE) are calculated from their ultraviolet absorption edges. It is observed that, as the vanadium ion concentration increases, E(opt) decreases and ΔE increases. The study of the IR absorption spectrum depicts the presence of BO(3), BO(4), PO(3), PO(4), and VO(5) structural units.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of VO2+ ions doped in Kainite (a mineral salt) single crystals and powder were recorded at room temperature at X-band frequencies. The angular variation studies of the spectra indicate that the VO2+ ion enters Mg2+ ion site substitutionally. The principal values of g and A-tensors were determined from the EPR spectral studies. Using these EPR parameters, the molecular orbital bonding parameters of VO2+ ion in the lattice have been evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

Interaction of the lacunary [alpha-XW9O33](9-) (X = As(III), Sb(III)) with Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) ions in neutral, aqueous medium leads to the formation of dimeric polyoxoanions, [(alpha-XW9O33)2M3(H2O)3](12-) (M = Cu(2+), Zn(2+); X = As(III), Sb(III)), in high yield. The selenium and tellurium analogues of the copper-containing heteropolyanions are also reported: [(alpha-XW9O33)2Cu3(H2O)3](10-) (X = Se(IV), Te(IV)). The polyanions consist of two [alpha-XW9O33] units joined by three equivalent Cu(2+) (X = As, Sb, Se, Te) or Zn(2+) (X = As, Sb) ions. All copper and zinc ions have one terminal water molecule resulting in square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Therefore, the title anions have idealized D3h symmetry. The space between the three transition metal ions is occupied by three sodium ions (M = Cu(2+), Zn(2+); X = As(III), Sb(III)) or potassium ions (M = Cu(2+); X = Se(IV), Te(IV)) leading to a central belt of six metal atoms alternating in position. Reaction of [alpha-AsW9O33](9-) with Zn(2+), Co(2+), and Mn(2+) ions in acidic medium (pH = 4-5) results in the same structural type but with a lower degree of transition-metal substitution, [(alpha-AsW9O33)2WO(H2O)M2(H2O)2](10-) (M = Zn(2+), Co(2+), Mn(2+)). All nine compounds are characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The solution properties of [(alpha-XW9O33)2Zn3(H2O)3](12-) (X = As(III), Sb(III)) were also studied by 183W-NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献

EPR and optical absorption spectra of Cr3+ ions doped in KZnClSO4 x 3H2O single crystals have been studied at room temperature. The EPR spectrum exhibits a group of three fine structure transitions characteristic of Cr3+ ions. From the observed EPR spectra, the spin-Hamiltonian parameters have been determined. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits two broad bands characteristic of Cr3+ ions in an octahedral symmetry. From the observed band positions, the crystal field parameters have been evaluated.  相似文献

Glasses with composition 15Li(2)O-15K(2)O-xBi(2)O(3)-(65 - x)-B(2)O(3)/5V(2)O(5) (3 ≤ x ≤ 15) have been prepared by the conventional melt quench technique. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of VO(2+) in these glasses have been recorded in the X-band frequency (≈9.3 GHz) at room temperature. The spin Hamiltonian parameters and covalency rates were evaluated. It was found that the V(4+) ions exist as vanadyl (VO(2+)) ions and are in an octahedral coordination with a tetragonal compression. The covalency rates (1 - α(2)) and (1 - γ(2)) indicate moderate covalency for the σ- and π-bonds. It was observed that the spin-Hamiltonian parameters depend slightly on the relative concentration of Bi(2)O(3). The optical properties of this glass system are studied from the optical absorption spectra recorded in the wavelength range 200-800 nm. The fundamental absorption edge has been identified from the optical absorption spectra. The values of optical band gap for indirect allowed transitions have been determined using available theories. The direct current electrical conductivity, σ, has been measured in the temperature range 373-573 K. The conductivity decreases with the increase in Bi(2)O(3) concentration. This has been discussed in terms of the decrease in the number of mobile ions and their mobility. An attempt is made to correlate the EPR, optical, and electrical results and to find the effect of Bi(2)O(3) content on these parameters.  相似文献

The vanadyl oxalatophosphate Na2[(VO)2(HPO4)2C2O4].2H2O has been synthesized by hydrothermal treatment. Its structure has been determined and refined by combining X-ray powder diffraction and solid-state NMR techniques. It crystallizes with monoclinic symmetry in space group P2(1), a = 6.3534(1) A, b = 17.1614(3) A, c = 6.5632(1) A, beta = 106.597(1) degrees . The structure is related to that of (NH4)2[(VO)2(HPO4)2C2O4].5H2O, which was previously reported. The vanadium phosphate framework consists of infinite [(VO)(HPO4)] chains of corner-sharing vanadium octahedra and hydrogenophosphate tetrahedra. The oxalate groups ensure the connection between the chains to form a 2D structure. The sodium ions and the water molecules are located between the anionic [(VO)2(HPO4)2C2O4]2- layers. The thermal decomposition has been studied in situ by temperature-dependent X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetry. It takes place in three stages, where the first two correspond to water removal and the last to the decomposition of the oxalate group and water elimination, leading to the final product NaVOPO4.  相似文献

The electronic structures of [Cu(terpy)(2)](2+) and [Cu(bpp)(2)](2+) (bpp = 2,6-di[pyrazol-1-yl]pyridine) are different, when doped into [M(bpp)(2)][BF(4)](2) (M(2+) = Fe(2+) or Zn(2+)). The [Cu(terpy)(2)](2+) dopant is a typical pseudo-Jahn-Teller elongated copper(II) center. However, the [Cu(bpp)(2)](2+) sites show EPR spectra consistent with a tetragonally compressed {d(z(2))}(1) configuration.  相似文献

The local environment around the paramagnetic centers formed by the Fe(3+) ions doped into three oxi-spinel crystals (ZnAl(2)O(4), MgAl(2)O(4), and ZnGa(2)O(4)) is investigated utilizing the fourth-order perturbation formula of the axial zero-field splitting parameter D on the basis of the dominant spin-orbit coupling mechanism. In order to fix a plausible cubic space group for B-sites located by Al(3+)/Ga(3+) cations, several modeling approaches are used and the results are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The temperature-dependent electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum of approximately 1% Cu(II) ions doped into Ba 2Zn(HCO2)6 x 4 H2O was analyzed at the Q-band frequencies over the temperature range 100-350 K to obtain structural information about the local environment. It can be concluded that the host crystal imparts a large orthorhombic strain which mainly corresponds to a tetragonal compression imposed onto the Cu(II)O6 species. This results in a copper center which adopts an orthorhombically distorted elongated geometry with the elongated axis perpendicular to the direction of the tetragonal compression due to the host crystal. There are two possible axes of elongation, and these represent two conformers separated by approximately 320 cm(-1). The thermal population of the higher energy level averages the g values, giving the observed temperature-dependent EPR spectra. The averaging process is between vibronic levels that are localized at two different minima of a single ground-state potential energy surface. These vibronic levels correspond to vibrational levels having different electronic properties. The determination of the host lattice strain parameters from the Cu(II) EPR spectra means that the guest ion is used as a probe of the environment of the Zn(II) site. The structural data derived from the lattice strain parameters are correlated with those from the Ba 2Zn(HCO2)6 x 4 H2O crystal structure.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the X-ray crystal structure and powder EPR spectrum of [(HC(Ph(2)PO)(3))(2)Cu](ClO(4))(2).2H(2)O is reported, and the structure at room temperature confirms that reported previously. Below approximately 100 K, the data imply a geometry with near elongated tetragonal symmetry for the [(HC(Ph(2)PO)(3))(2)Cu](2+) complex, but on warming the two higher Cu-O bond lengths and g-values progressively converge, and by 340 K the bond lengths correspond to a compressed tetragonal geometry. The data may be interpreted satisfactorily assuming an equilibrium among the energy levels of a Cu-O(6) polyhedron subjected to Jahn-Teller vibronic coupling and a lattice strain. However, agreement with the experiment is obtained only if the orthorhombic component of the lattice strain decreases to a negligible value as the temperature approaches 340 K.  相似文献

The pyrazole-based diamide ligand N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)pyrazole-3,5-dicarboxamide (H(3)L) has been structurally characterised and successfully employed in the preparation of [2 x 2] grid-type complexes. Thus, the reaction of H(3)L with Cu(ClO(4))2.6H(2)O or Ni(ClO(4))2.6H(2)O in the presence of added base (NaOH) affords the tetranuclear complexes [M(4)(HL(4))].8H(2)O (1: M = Cu, 2: M = Ni). Employment of a mixture of the two metal salts under otherwise identical reaction conditions leads to the formation of the mixed-metal species [Cu(x)Ni(4-x)(HL)(4)].8H(2)O (x相似文献

Cu(2+) doped single crystals of [Zn(sac)2(dmen)] (sac: saccharinate, dmen: N,N'-dimethylethylendiamine) and [Zn(sac)2(paen)], (paen: N,N'-bis(3-propylamine)ethylendiamine) complexes have been investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. Detailed investigations of the EPR spectra indicate that Cu(2+) ion substitute with Zn(2+) ion and forms tetrahedral complex in [Zn(sac)2(dmen)] and octahedral complex in [Zn(sac)2(paen)] hosts. Principal values of the g and hyperfine tensors are determined and the ground state wave functions of Cu(2+) ions are obtained using EPR parameters.  相似文献
