Bi3+- and RE3+-co-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors were prepared and their luminescent properties under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV)/UV excitation were investigated. Strong red emission for (Y,Gd)BO3:Bi3+,Eu3+ and strong green emission for (Y,Gd)BO3:Bi3+,Tb3+ are observed under VUV excitation from 147 to 200 nm with a much broader excitation region than that of single Eu3+-doped or Tb3+-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphor. Strong emissions are also observed under UV excitation around 265 nm where as nearly no luminescence is observed for single Eu3+-doped or Tb3+-doped (Y,Gd)BO3. The luminescence enhancement of Bi3+- and RE3+-co-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors is due to energy transfer from Bi3+ ion to Eu3+ or Tb3+ ion not only in the VUV region but also in the UV region. Besides, host sensitization competition between Bi3+ and Eu3+ or Tb3+ is also observed. The investigated phosphors may be preferable for devices with a VUV light 147-200 nm as an excitation source such as PDP or mercury-free fluorescent lamp.  相似文献

A series of compounds Ln(RCOO)3·Phen (Ln=Eu, Gd, Tb; RCOO-1- and 2-naphthoate, 1- and 2-naphthylacetate, 1- and 2-naphthoxyacetate anions, Phen-1,10-phenanthroline) was investigated by methods of optical spectroscopy. Compounds of composition Ln(RCOO)3·nH2O with the same carboxylate ligands are also considered. Results of studies of the effects of methylene spacer decoupling the π-π- or p-π-conjugation in the naphthylcarboxylate ligand on the structure of Eu3+ coordination centre, on the lifetime of 5D0 (Eu3+) state, and on processes of the excitation energy transfer to Eu3+ or Tb3+ ions are presented. Introduction of the methylene bridge in the ligand weakens the influence of the steric hindrances in forming of a crystal lattice and results in lowering the distortion of the Eu3+ luminescence centre, and in elongation of the observed 5D0 lifetime τobs. The latter is caused by decrease in contribution of the radiative processes rate 1/τr. This is confirmed by the correlation between the lifetimes τobs and the quantities “τr·const” inversely proportional to the total integral intensities of Eu(RCOO)3·Phen luminescence spectra. The methylene spacer performs a role of regulator of sensitization of the Ln3+ luminescence efficiency by means of an influence on mutual location of lowest triplet states of the ligands, the ligand-metal charge transfer (LMCT) states, and the emitting states of Ln3+ ions. The lowest triplet state in lanthanide naphthylcarboxylate adducts with Phen is related to carboxylate anion. A presence of the methylene spacer in naphthylcarboxylate ligand increases the triplet state energy. At the same time, the energy of “carboxylic group-Eu3+ ion” charge transfer states falls, which can promote the degradation of excitation energy. In naphthylcarboxylates investigated a range of the carboxylate triplet state energies from 19 150 to 20 600 cm−1 was demonstrated in dependence on the type of the carboxylate anion. The interligand energy transfer from Phen to carboxylate lowest triplet state was revealed in complexes with Phen ligand. The effect of OH-group inserted in 1- or 3-position of 2-naphthoate ligand on the excitation energy transfer is also analyzed.  相似文献

The luminescence properties of Ba3Tb0.9Eu0.1(PO4)3 and Ba3Gd0.9Eu0.1(PO4)3 phosphors were studied for excitation over the 120-300 nm wavelength range. It is found that Tb3+, which exhibits a strong vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) absorption band, provides sensitisation of Eu3+ emission in this host. This effect can be used to develop phosphors with enhanced conversion efficiency of the VUV radiation into visible light.  相似文献

Red luminescence (at wavelength about 622 nm) from Eu3+ ions embedded in PbO–Bi2O3–Ga2O3–BaO glass hosts is reported for room and liquid helium temperatures. The substantial influence of energy transfer processes between the host and Eu3+ ions is shown experimentally through the dependences of photoluminescence on light polarization and excitation wavelength. Only polarized, excited pulsed XeII laser light (λ=714 nm) gives substantial luminescence with efficiency up to 14.3%. The role of phonon-relaxation subsystem in the observed luminescence is discussed.  相似文献

LiCaBO3:M (M=Eu3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Ce3+, Dy3+) phosphors were synthesized by a normal solid-state reaction using CaCO3, H3BO3, Li2CO3, Na2CO3, K2CO3, Eu2O3, Sm2O3, Tb4O7, CeO2 and Dy2O3 as starting materials. The emission and excitation spectra were measured by a SHIMADZU RF-540 UV spectrophotometer. And the results show that these phosphors can be excited effectively by near-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UVLED), and emit red, green and blue light. Consequently, these phosphors are promising phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Under the condition of doping charge compensation Li+, Na+ and K+, the luminescence intensities of these phosphors were increased.  相似文献

Sensitized luminescence behavior of lanthanide (Ln=Eu3+, Tb3+) macrocyclic cyclen (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane) complexes bearing one or four benzophenone (BP) moieties as antenna (LnL1 and LnL4) has been studied in water. Despite higher molar extinction coefficient of EuL4 owing to four antennae, it shows only one-thirtieth the luminescence intensity of EuL1. Energy level of triplet excited-state of BP antenna (ET) is only a few kJ mol−1 higher than that of 5D2 excited-state of Eu3+, thus promoting a back energy transfer (BET) from 5D2 of Eu3+ to ground-state BP antennae. On EuL4 bearing four antennae, BET occurs more rapidly than that on EuL1, thus exhibiting much weaker luminescence. For Tb complexes, the energy gap between ET of BP antenna and 5D4 excited state of Tb3+ is large enough (>13 kJ mol−1), such that practically no BET occurs. The luminescence intensity of TbL4 is, however, lower (two-third) than that of TbL1. Time-resolved luminescence measurement reveals that hydration number of Tb3+ within TbL4 is twice that within TbL1. This is because the structural distortion of ligands on TbL4, caused by an intramolecular dipole-dipole interaction among the BP antennae, allows coordination of higher number of H2O molecules to Tb3+, thus leading to a strong Tb luminescence quenching via O-H oscillators.  相似文献

Red-emitting Y2O3:Eu3+ and green-emitting Y2O3:Tb3+ and Y2O3:Eu3+, Tb3+ nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Their structure and micromorphology have been analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The photoluminescence (PL) property of Y2O3:Eu3+,Tb3+ phosphor was investigated. In the same host (Y2O3), upon excitation with ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, it is shown that there are strong emissions at around 610 and 545 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole 5D0-7F2 transition of Eu3+ and 5D4-7F5 transition of Tb3+, respectively. Different qualities of Eu3+and Tb3+ ions are induced into the Y2O3 lattice. From the excitation spectrum, we speculate that there exists energy transfer from Tb3+ to Eu3+ ions .The emission color of powders reveals regular change in the separation of light emission. These powders can meet with the request of optical display material for different colors or can be potentially used as labels for biological molecules.  相似文献

In this paper, ligand effect of several bi-dental oxygen (O) and nitrogen (N) ligands on the red luminescence properties of europium ion (Eu3+) was studied comprehensively. Absorption, emission, and excitation spectral properties of ternary europium complexes with different combinations of ligands including thenoyl trifluoroacetone (TTA), naphthyl trifluoroacetone (NTA), 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) and phenanthroline (Phen) were investigated. Efficient Eu3+ red emission was observed with all the combinations of the above mentioned ligands. The most intense emission was found with the all nitrogen coordinated complex Eu(bpy)2(Phen)2 while the longest wavelength excitation band was recorded with oxygen-nitrogen mixed NTA-bpy complex Eu(NTA)1(bpy)3. With change of the ligands combination and ratio, the Eu3+ emission peak changes slightly from 612 to 618 nm. The absorption and excitation spectra of the europium complexes were compared and analyzed referring to the individual absorption spectral properties of the ligands. The relation between ligand-to-metal charge transfer states and luminescence intensities for different complexes was studied.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

According to the spectra of stationary X-ray excited luminescence (XEL) of BaF2: Eu nanophosphors at 80 and 294 K, it was revealed that the thermal annealing of fine-grained nanoparticles (d?=?35?nm) in the range of 400–1000°C, which is accompanied by an increase of their sizes in the range of 58–120?nm, does not result in effective changes of the charge state of Eu3 + → Eu2 + activator, in contrast to CaF2: Eu nanoparticles. The maximum light output of X-ray excited luminescence of BaF2: Eu nanophosphors in the 590?nm emission band of Eu3+ ion was observed at an annealing temperature of 600°C with the average size of nanoparticles 67?nm. The subsequent growth of annealing temperatures, especially in the range of 800–1000°C, causes decrease in the light output of X-ray excited luminescence due to the increase of defect concentration in the lattice as a result of sharp increase of nanoparticle sizes and their agglomeration. In BaF2: Eu nanoparticles of 58?nm size, according to the thermostimulated luminescence (TSL) spectrum, transformation of Eu3+ → Eu2+ under the influence of long-time X-ray irradiation was revealed for the peak of 151?K. Thus, X-ray excited luminescence spectra of BaF2: Eu nanophosphors are formed predominantly due to the emission of Eu3+ ions, while emission of Eu2+ ions is observed in the TSL spectra.  相似文献

In this work, we report preparation, characterization and luminescent mechanism of a phosphor Sr1.5Ca0.5SiO4:Eu3+,Tb3+,Eu2+ (SCS:ETE) for white-light emitting diode (W-LED)-based near-UV chip. Co-doped rare earth cations Eu3+, Tb3+ and Eu2+ as aggregated luminescent centers within the orthosilicate host in a controlled manner resulted in the white-light phosphors with tunable emission properties. Under the excitation of near-UV light (394 nm), the emission spectra of these phosphors exhibited three emission bands: one broad band in the blue area, a second band with sharp lines peaked in green (about 548 nm) and the third band in the orange-red region (588-720 nm). These bands originated from Eu2+ 5d→4f, Tb3+5D47FJ and Eu3+5D07FJ transitions, respectively, with comparable intensities, which in return resulted in white light emission. With anincrease of Tb3+ content, both broad Eu2+ emission and sharp Eu3+ emission increase. The former may be understood by the reduction mechanism due to the charge transfer process from Eu3+ to Tb3+, whereas the latter is attributed to the energy transfer process from Eu2+ to Tb3+. Tunable white-light emission resulted from the system of SCS:ETE as a result of the competition between these two processes when the Tb3+ concentration varies. It was found that the nominal composition Sr1.5Ca0.5SiO4:1.0%Eu3+, 0.07%Tb3+ is the optimal composition for single-phased white-light phosphor. The CIE chromaticity calculation demonstrated its potential as white LED-based near-UV chip.  相似文献

The spectroscopic properties in UV-excitable range for the phosphors of Sr3La2(BO3)4:RE3+ (RE3+=Eu3+, Ce3+, Tb3+) were investigated. The phosphors were synthesized by conventional solid-state reactions. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra and commission international de I'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of Sr3La2(BO3)4:RE3+ were investigated. The f-d transitions of Eu3+, Ce3+ and Tb3+ in the host lattices are assumed and corroborated. The PL and PL excitation (PLE) spectra indicate that the main emission wavelength of Sr3La2(BO3)4:Eu3+ is 611 nm, and Sr3La2(BO3)4:Ce3+ shows dominating emission peak at 425 nm, while Sr3La2(BO3)4:Tb3+ displays green emission at 487, 542, 582 and 620 nm. These phosphors were prepared by simple solid-state reaction at 1000 °C. There are lower reactive temperature and more convenient than commercial phosphors. The Sr3La2(BO3)4:Tb3+ applied to cold cathode fluorescent lamp was found to emit green light and have a major peak wavelength at around 542 nm. These phosphors may provide a new kind of luminescent materials under ultraviolet excitation.  相似文献

The preparation and upconversion luminescence properties of the Yb3+ and Tb3+ co-doped glass ceramics containing SrF2 nanocrystals were investigated. The formation of SrF2 nanocrystals was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Both microstructural and spectral analysis indicated that the Yb3+ and Tb3+ ions were enriched in the precipitated SrF2 nanocrystals, which provide much lower phonon vibration energy than the glass matrix. Due to the efficient cooperative sensitization from Yb3+ to Tb3+ and the relatively low maximum phonon energy of SrF2 nanocrystals, the Yb3+ and Tb3+ co-doped glass ceramics exhibited intense upconversion luminescence, including ultraviolet emission at 382 nm.  相似文献

The paper reports time-resolved emission and energy transfer (ET) studies of metal ion complexes of a specially designed rigid macrocyclic naphthalene cryptand (L) under different conditions. Complex formation of L with Li+ and H+ causes an appreciable increase in singlet state quantum yield and lifetime of L implying photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from the cryptand moiety to naphthalene unit in the free L. The system exhibits photoinduced ET at 77 K in its Tb3+ and Eu3+ complexes with either NO3−1 or Cl−1 as counter-anion. The extent of ET is higher for the Tb3+ complex as compared to that for the Eu3+ complex. In both Tb3+ and Eu3+ complex, the NO3−1 ions influence the relative orientation of donor (L) and acceptor (Ln3+) more in favour of ET than the Cl−1 ions. The rate constants for the ET from the naphthalene moiety of L to the acceptor (Ln3+) have been evaluated at 77 K. The results suggest ET from the triplet state of naphthalene using an exchange mechanism. The ground state geometries of the system L and its complexes with Li+, Cs+ and Tb3+ have been determined using DFT methods to interpret our results.  相似文献

The ultraviolet upconversion luminescence of Tm3+ ions sensitized by Yb3+ ions in oxyfluoride nanophase vitroceramics when excited by a 975 nm diode laser was studied. An ultraviolet upconversion luminescence line positioned at 363.6 nm was found. It was attributed to the fluorescence transition of 1D23H6 of Tm3+ ion. Several visible upconversion luminescence lines at 450.7 nm, (477.0 nm, 462.5 nm), 648.5 nm, (680.5 nm, 699.5 nm) and (777.2 nm, 800.7 nm) were also found, which result respectively from the fluorescence transitions of 1D23F4, 1G43H6, 1G43F4, 3F33H6 and 3H43H6 of Tm3+ ion. The careful measurement and analysis of the variation of upconversion luminescence intensity F as a function of the 975 nm pumping laser power P prove that the upconversion luminescence of 1D2 state is partly a five-photon upconversion luminescence, and the upconversion luminescence of 1G4 state and 3H4 state are respectively the three-photon and two-photon upconversion luminescence. The theoretical analysis suggested that the upconversion mechanism of the 363.6 nm 1D23H6 upconversion luminescence is partly the cross energy transfer of {3H4(Tm3+), 3F4(Tm3+), 1G4(Tm3+)→1D2(Tm3+)} and {1G4(Tm3+)→3F4(Tm3+), 3H4(Tm3+)→1D2(Tm3+)} between Tm3+ ions. In addition, the upconversion luminescence of 1G4 and 3H4 state results respectively from the sequential energy transfer {2F5/2(Yb3+)→2F7/2(Yb3+), 3H4(Tm3+)→1G4(Tm3+)} and {2F5/2(Yb3+) →2F7/2(Yb3+), 3F4(Tm3+)→3F2(Tm3+)} from Yb3+ ions to Tm3+ ions. We have investigated the photoluminescence (PL) and photostimulated luminescence (PSL) spectra at 300 K to study the effect of isoelectronic impurities K+ and I on the formation and energy structure of Eu2+-VCs isolated dipole centers and aggregate centers in the form of single crystals of CsEuBr3 in CsBr:Eu2+ single crystals. We have shown that K+ and I impurities in a concentration of 5 mol% do not have a substantial effect on the energy spectrum of isolated dipole centers in CsBr:Eu2+ single crystals and the processes for the formation of such centers during growth of CsBr:Eu single crystals from the melt by the Bridgman method. We have established that in Cs0.95K0.05Br:Eu2+, more favorable conditions are realized for the formation of aggregate centers than in CsBr:Eu2+ and CsBr0.95K0.05Br:Eu2+ single crystals. So in order to improve the storage properties of phosphors based on CsBr:Eu2+, in particular for increasing the efficiency of PSL excitation, it is expedient to dope them with K+ impurity in a concentration up to 5 mol%. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 74, No. 5, pp. 627–630, September–October, 2007.  相似文献

By using metal nitrates as starting materials and citric acid as complexing agent, GdCaAl3O7:Eu3+ and GdCaAl3O7:Tb3+ powder phosphors were prepared by a citrate-gel method. Thermal analysis (TG-DTG), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), photoluminescence excitation and emission, as well as kinetic decays were employed to characterize the resulting samples. The results of the XRD indicated the precursor samples began to crystallize at 800 °C and the crystallinity increased with elevation the annealing temperature. TEM images showed that the phosphor particles were basically of spherical shape, with good dispersion about a particle size of around 40-70 nm. Upon excitation with UV irradiation, it is shown that there is a strong emission at around 617 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole 5D0-7F2 transition of Eu3+, and at around 543 nm corresponding to the 5D4-7F5 transition of Tb3+. The dependence of photoluminescence intensity on Eu3+ (or Tb3+) concentration and annealing temperature were also studied in detail.  相似文献

The paper is dedicated to investigation of the Mn2+ luminescence in Tb3Al5O12 (TbAG) garnet, as well as the processes of excitation energy transfer between host cations (Tb3+ ions) and activators (Mn2+ and Mn2+-Ce3+ pair ions) in single crystalline films of TbAG:Mn and TbAG:Mn,Ce garnets which can be considered as promising luminescent materials for conversion of LED's radiation. Due to the effective energy transfer between TbAG host and activator, Mn2+ ions in TbAG possess the bright orange luminescence in the bands peaked at 595 nm with a lifetime of 0.64 ms which are caused by the 4T16A1 radiative transitions. The simultaneous process of energy transfer is realized in TbAG:Mn,Ce: (i) from Tb3+ to Mn2+ ions; (ii) from Tb3+ cations to Ce3+ ions and then partly to Mn2+ ions through Tb3+ ion sublattice and Ce-Mn dipole-dipole interaction.  相似文献

Emission related to rare earth ions in solids takes place usually due to 4fn→4fn and 4fn−15d1→4fn internal transitions. In the case of band to band excitation the effective energy transfer from the host to optically active impurity is required. Among other processes one of the possibilities is capturing of the electron at the excited state and the hole at the ground state of impurity. The latest results on high pressure investigations of luminescence related to Pr3+ and Eu2+ in different lattices are briefly reviewed. The influence of pressure on anomalous luminescence and 4fn−15d1→4fn luminescence in BaSrF2:Eu2+ and LiBaF3:Eu2+ systems and Pr3+ 4fn→4fn emission quenching is presented and discussed. A theoretical model describing the impurity-trapped exciton as a system where a hole is localized at the impurity and an electron is captured by Coulomb potential at Rydberg-like states is developed. The results show the importance of local lattice relaxation for the creation of stable impurity-trapped exciton states. The ligands shifts create a potential barrier that controls the effect of mixing between the Rydberg-like electron and localized electron wave functions.  相似文献

The luminescence properties of BaZr(BO3)2:5% Eu were investigated under ultraviolet (UV) and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation and different luminescence behaviors were observed by different excitation energies. After the analyses of the luminescence spectra, the result indicates that Eu3+ occupying non-centrosymmetric sites Ba2+ can be excited preferentially under 254 nm excitation, while Eu3+ occupying centrosymmetric sites Zr4+ can be excited preferentially under 147 nm excitation.  相似文献

The upconverted VUV (185 nm) and UV (230 and 260 nm) luminescence due to 5d-4f radiative transitions in Nd3+ ions doped into a LiYF4 crystal has been obtained under excitation by 351/353 nm radiation from a XeF excimer laser. The maximum upconversion efficiency, defined as the ratio of intensity for 5d-4f luminescence to overall intensity for 5d-4f and 4f-4f luminescence from the 4D3/2 Nd3+ level, has been estimated to be about 70% under optimal focusing conditions for XeF laser radiation. A redistribution of intensity between three main components of 5d-4f Nd3+ luminescence is observed under changing the excitation power density, which favors the most long-wavelength band (260 nm) at higher excitation density level. The effect is interpreted as being due to excited state absorption of radiation emitted. The upconverted VUV and UV luminescence from the high-lying 2F(2)7/2 4f level of Er3+ doped into a LiYF4 crystal has also been obtained under XeF-laser excitation the most intense line being at 280 nm from the spin-allowed transition to the 2H(2)11/2 4f level of Er3+, but the efficiency of upconversion for Er3+ emission is low, less than 5%.  相似文献
