Spontaneous formation and efficient stabilization of gold nanoparticles with an average diameter of 7 approximately 20 nm from hydrogen tetrachloroaureate(III) hydrate (HAuCl4.3H2O) were achieved in air-saturated aqueous poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) block copolymer solutions at ambient temperature in the absence of any other reducing agent. The particle formation mechanism is considered here on the basis of the block copolymer concentration dependence of absorption spectra, the time dependence (kinetics) of AuCl4- reduction, and the block copolymer concentration dependence of particle size. The effects of block copolymer characteristics such as molecular weight (MW), PEO block length, PPO block length, and critical micelle concentration (cmc) are explored by examining several PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers. Our observations suggest that the formation of gold nanoparticles from AuCl4- comprises three main steps: (1) reduction of metal ions by block copolymer in solution, (2) absorption of block copolymer on gold clusters and reduction of metal ions on the surface of these gold clusters, and (3) growth of metal particles stabilized by block copolymers. While both PEO and PPO blocks contribute to the AuCl4- reduction (step 1), the PEO contribution appears to be dominant. In step 2, the adsorption of block copolymers on the surface of gold clusters takes place because of the amphiphilic character of the block copolymer (hydrophobicity of PPO). The much higher efficiency of particle formation attained in the PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymer systems as compared to PEO homopolymer systems can be attributed to the adsorption and growth processes (steps 2 and 3) facilitated by the block copolymers. The size of the gold nanoparticles produced is dictated by the above mechanism; the size increases with increasing reaction activity induced by the block copolymer overall molecular weight and is limited by adsorption due to the amphiphilic character of the block copolymers.  相似文献

Interaction of urea with pluronic block copolymers by 1H NMR spectroscopy   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Solution 1H NMR techniques were used to characterize the interaction of urea with poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) triblock copolymers. The urea was established to interact selectively with the PEO blocks of the block copolymer, and the interaction sites were found not to change with increasing temperature. Such interactions influence the self-assembly properties of the block copolymer in solution by increasing the hydration of the block copolymers and stabilizing the gauche conformation of the PPO chain. Therefore, urea increases the critical micellization temperature (CMT) values of PEO-PPO-PEO copolymers, and the effect of urea on the CMT is more pronounced for copolymers with higher PEO contents and lower for those with increased contents of PPO segments.  相似文献

In this paper we present the effect of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) block copolymer micelles and their hydrophobicity on the stabilization of gold nanoparticles. Gold nanoparticles were prepared by a method developed by Sakai et al. (Sakai, T.; Alexandridis, P. Langmuir 2004, 20, 8426). An absorption centered at 300-400 nm in time-dependent UV spectra provided evidence that the very first step of the synthesis was to form primary gold clusters. Then the gold clusters grew in size and were stabilized by block copolymer micelles. The stabilization capacities of the micelles were modulated by tuning the block copolymer concentration and composition and by adding salts. With good stabilization, gold particles were spherical and uniform in size with a diameter of 5-10 nm. Otherwise they were aggregates with irregular shapes such as triangular, hexagonal, and rodlike. The presence of a small amount of NaF significantly increased the stabilization capacity of the micelles and consequently modified the quality of the gold particles. Using FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, micellization of the block copolymers and hydrophobicity of the micelles were proven very important for the stabilization. A higher hydrophobicity of the micelle cores was expected to favor the entrapment of primary gold clusters and the stabilization of gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

A series of supramolecular aggregates were prepared using a poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) (PPO-PEO-PPO) block copolymer and β- or α-cyclodextrins (CD). The combination of β-CD and the copolymer yields inclusion complexes (IC) with polypseudorotaxane structures. These are formed by complexation of the PPO blocks with β-CD molecules producing a powder precipitate with a certain crystallinity degree that can be evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). In contrast, when combining α-CD with the block copolymer, the observed effect is an increase in the viscosity of the mixtures yielding fluid gels. Two cooperative effects come into play: the complexation of PEO blocks with α-CD and the hydrophobic interactions between PPO blocks in aqueous media. These two combined interactions lead to the formation of a macromolecular network. The resulting fluid gels were characterized using different techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), viscometry, and XRD measurements.  相似文献

We report here on the effects that the solution properties of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) block copolymers have on the reduction of hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) hydrate (HAuCl4.3H2O) and the size of gold nanoparticles produced. The amphiphilic block copolymer solution properties were modulated by varying the temperature and solvent quality (water, formamide, and their mixtures). We identified two main factors, (i) block copolymer conformation or structure (e.g., loops vs entanglements, nonassociated polymers vs micelles) and (ii) interactions between AuCl4- ions and block copolymers (attractive ion-dipole interactions vs repulsive interactions due to hydrophobicity), to be important for controlling the competition between the reactivities of AuCl4- reduction in the bulk solution to form gold seeds and on the surface of gold seeds (particles) and the particle size determination. The particle size increase observed with increased temperature in aqueous solutions is attributed to enhanced hydrophobicity of the block copolymer, which favors AuCl4- reduction on the surface of seeds. The lower reactivity and higher particle sizes observed in formamide solutions are attributed to the shielding of ion-dipole interaction between AuCl4- ions and block copolymers by formamide, which overcomes the beneficial effects of formamide on the block copolymer conformation (lower micelle concentration).  相似文献

A novel biodegradable and thermosensitive hydrogel microparticle was prepared via suspension polymerization of a kind of block copolymer macromonomers. According to the molecular design, the macromonomer is composed of a thermosensitive triblock copolymer poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) and two oligomers of biodegradable polyester such as oligo(lactic acid) or oligo(ε-caprolactone), and end-capped with acryloyl groups. Microgels were obtained by inverse suspension polymerization of the macromonomer aqueous droplets initiated by a redox initiator. Thermosensitivity and in vitro biodegradation of the resultant microgels were confirmed. The gel microparticles in an aqueous solution were swollen at low temperature and shrunken at high temperature (human body temperature). Degradation rate could be adjusted by controlling the composition and the degree of polymerization of oligoester. Thus, the microgels exhibit combinatory and tunable properties.  相似文献

Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) was used to simulate the formation and stabilization of gold nanoparticles in poly(ethylene oxide)–poly(propylene oxide)–poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO–PPO–PEO) block copolymer micelles. Primary gold clusters that were experimentally observed in the early stage of gold nanoparticle formation were modeled as gold bead in DPD simulation. It showed that gold beads were wrapped by the block copolymer and aggregated into spherical particles inside the micelles and forming stable Pluronic–gold colloids with two-layer structures. Increasing Pluronic concentration, molecular weight, and PPO block length led to the formation of more uniform and more stable gold nanoparticles. Density profiles of water beads suggested that the micelles, especially the hydrophobicity of the micellar cores, played an important role in stabilizing gold nanoparticles. Dynamic process indicated that the formation of gold nanoparticles was controlled by the competition between aggregation of primary gold clusters and the stabilization by micelles of block copolymers.. The DPD simulation results of gold–copolymer–water system agree well with previous experiments, while more structure information on microscopic level could be provided.  相似文献

Gold icosahedra with an average diameter of about 600 nm were easily prepared by heating an aqueous solution of the amphiphilic block copolymer, poly(ethylene oxide)20-poly(propylene oxide)70-poly(ethylene oxide)20 (Pluronic P123), and hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) trihydrate (HAuCl4·3H2O) at 60 °C for 25 min. When sodium chloride (NaCl:HAuCl4 molar ratio=10:1) was added to this aqueous solution, gold nanoplates were produced. The chloride ion was found to be a key component in the formation of the gold nanoplates by facilitating the growth of {111} oriented hexagonal/triangular gold nanoplates, because similar gold nanoplates were produced when LiCl or KCl was added to the aqueous solution instead of NaCl, while gold nanocrystals having irregular shapes were produced when NaBr or NaI was added.  相似文献

A single-step synthesis of gold nanoparticles with an average diameter of approximately 10 nm from hydrogen tetrachloroaureate(III) hydrate (HAuCl4.3H2O) has been achieved in air-saturated aqueous solutions that contain poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) block copolymers but not any other reducing agent. These amphiphilic block copolymers act as both reductants and colloidal stabilizers and prove very efficient in both functions. The formation of gold nanoparticles is controlled by the overall molecular weight and relative block length of the block copolymer. The synthesis procedure reported here is environmentally benign and economic, as it involves the minimum possible number of components: it uses water as the solvent, it uses commercially available polymers, it proceeds fast to completion, and it results in a "ready-to-use" product.  相似文献

The effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) upon the thermally induced association behavior of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) block copolymer, Pluronic P103, has been investigated using pyrene fluorescence spectroscopy. The critical micellization temperature (CMT) of Pluronic P103 in aqueous solution is decreased by the addition of NaCl. The standard enthalpy and entropy of micellization for Pluronic P103 in water are increased in the presence of small amounts of NaCl, but further addition of NaCl decreases the standard enthalpy and entropy of micellization. The I1/I3 ratio of pyrene in aqueous Pluronic P103 solutions at temperature below the CMT decreases with increases of NaCl concentration, which is related to the decrease of PPO solubility. The decrease in polarity of the PPO shifts the CMT toward lower temperature.  相似文献

The water + cyclodextrin + poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) mixtures have been investigated to explore the temperature effect on the aggregation of the copolymer in the presence of cyclodextrins (CDs). The CDs with different cavity sizes were chosen because they may include either the hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxides) block or both kinds of blocks. The differential scanning calorimetry and viscosity experiments straightforwardly evidenced that the critical micellar temperature is shifted to larger values by adding a CD which is able to include the middle poly(propylene oxide) block while it is not influenced by the presence of CD which is selective to the poly(ethylene oxide) block. The enthalpy of aggregation decreases upon the CD addition for all the investigated systems.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles by using the mixture of polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinyl pyridine)/poly(2-vinyl pyridine)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PS-b-P2VP/P2VP-b-PEO) block copolymers as encapsulating agent was prepared. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and contact angle. It is demonstrated that the obtained gold nanoparticles are covered with mixed block copolymer shells. The hydrophilic property of the nanoparticles can be varied by the change of the dispersion medium. The obtained gold nanoparticles with mixed block copolymer shells are stable in organic solvents (such as tetrahydrofuran and toluene) and water.  相似文献

The rheology of the aqueous solution of poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(propylene oxide)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO?PPO?PEO) triblock copolymer, Pluronic F68 in the presence of KF was studied in the temperature range from 15 to 60°C. The variation of the shear stress according to the shear rate shows that independently from the temperature and concentration, the F68 solutions exhibit a Newtonian behavior. The results show that the Critical Micelle Temperature of Pluronic F68 in a KF aqueous solution decreases with the increase in the salt concentration.  相似文献

High-optical-quality titania-based mesostructured films with cubic or 2D-hexagonal symmetry were fabricated by combining trifluoroacetate (TFA)-modified titanium precursors with amphiphilic triblock poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) copolymers. The distribution, dynamics, and local environments of the TFA-modified titania, PEO, and PPO components of the hybrid were investigated. IR/Raman spectroscopy, in situ small-angle X-ray scattering, and transmission electron microscopy studies indicate that TFA coordinates the titanium center and forms a stable complex that is subsequently organized by the block copolymer species into ordered mesostructures. Solid-state NMR (19)F-->(1)H cross-polarization, (13)C{(1)H} two-dimensional heteronuclear correlation, and (1)H relaxation techniques were used to determine that PEO is predominantly incorporated within the TFA-modified titania, and that PPO environments encompass both microphase separated regions and interfacial regions composed of mixed PPO and TFA-modified titania. NMR (19)F multiple-quantum spin counting measurements suggest that -CF(3) groups of the trifluoroacetate ligands do not form clusters but instead randomly distribute within the inorganic component of the hybrid.  相似文献

Two new poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(styrene oxide) triblock copolymers (PEO-PSO-PEO) with optimized block lengths selected on the basis of previous studies were synthesized with the aim of achieving a maximal solubilization ability and a suitable sustained release, while keeping very low material expense and excellent aqueous copolymer solubility. The self-assembling and gelling properties of these copolymers were characterized by means of light scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and rheometry. Both copolymers formed spherical micelles (12-14 nm) at very low concentrations. At larger concentration (>25 wt%), copolymer solutions showed a rich phase behavior, with the appearance of two types of rheologically active (more viscous) fluids and of physical gels depending on solution temperature and concentration. The copolymer behaved notably different despite their relatively similar block lengths. The ability of the polymeric micellar solutions to solubilize the antifungal drug griseofulvin was evaluated and compared to that reported for other structurally-related block copolymers. Drug solubilization values up to 55 mg g−1 were achieved, which are greater than those obtained by previously analyzed poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(styrene oxide), poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(butylene oxide), and poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) block copolymers. The results indicate that the selected SO/EO ratio and copolymer block lengths were optimal for simultaneously achieving low critical micelle concentrations (cmc) values and large drug encapsulation ability. The amount of drug released from the polymeric micelles was larger at pH 7.4 than at acidic conditions, although still sustained over 1 day.  相似文献

The influence of addition of poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(propylene oxide)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO–PPO–PEO) copolymers on final morphologies of modified epoxy matrices has been investigated as a function of PEO:PPO molar ratio and cure conditions by comparison with the cured epoxy blends only containing poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) or poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) homopolymers. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to characterize structural features of blends. Whilst diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA)/4,4’-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM)/PPO system macrophase separates, the interactions between PEO and cured epoxy are responsible for miscibility of DGEBA/DDM/PEO system. Depending on PEO:PPO molar ratio, micro- or macrophase separated morphologies have been obtained for block copolymer modified epoxy matrices. Moreover, the influence of both copolymer content and cure temperature on final morphologies has also been investigated by both experimental and theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Summary : High-yield synthesis of gold microplates is achieved through autoreduction of hydrogen tetrachloroaureate (III) hydrate (HAuCl4 · 3H2O) in aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) block copolymer (Pluronic L64, EO13PO30EO13) at ambient conditions, in the absence of added energy, reductant, or other surfactants. The formation by the amphiphilic block copolymer of lyotropic liquid crystals (e.g., ordered cylindrical/hexagonal or lamellar phases) is not required for templating the formation of such microplates.  相似文献
