In the mutualism system with three species if the effects of dispersion and time delays are both taken into consideration, then the densities of the cooperating species are governed by a coupled system of reaction–diffusion equations with time delays. The aim of this paper is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of the time-dependent solution in relation to a positive uniform solution of the corresponding steady-state problem in a bounded domain with Neumann boundary condition, including the existence and uniqueness of a positive steady-state solution. A simple and easily verifiable condition is given to ensure the global asymptotic stability of the positive steady-state solution. This result leads to the permanence of the mutualism system, the instability of the trivial and all forms of semitrivial solutions, and the nonexistence of nonuniform steady-state solution. The condition for the global asymptotic stability is independent of diffusion and time-delays as well as the net birth rate of species, and the conclusions for the reaction–diffusion system are directly applicable to the corresponding ordinary differential system and 2-species cooperating reaction–diffusion systems. Our approach to the problem is based on inequality skill and the method of upper and lower solutions for a more general reaction–diffusion system. Finally, the numerical simulation is given to illustrate our results.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with asymptotic stability of a system of reaction-diffusion equations which is expressed in terms of Volterra integrals, under homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The effect of diffusion and delays on the stability of the system are analyzed, and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of positive solutions of the corresponding steady-state problem. Their global attraction with respect to nonnegative solutions of the time-dependent system is discussed. The main tools are Lyapunov functionals, positive definite kernels, and Laplace transforms.  相似文献

Convergence in competition models with small diffusion coefficients   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
It is well known that for reaction-diffusion 2-species Lotka-Volterra competition models with spatially independent reaction terms, global stability of an equilibrium for the reaction system implies global stability for the reaction-diffusion system. This is not in general true for spatially inhomogeneous models. We show here that for an important range of such models, for small enough diffusion coefficients, global convergence to an equilibrium holds for the reaction-diffusion system, if for each point in space the reaction system has a globally attracting hyperbolic equilibrium. This work is planned as an initial step towards understanding the connection between the asymptotics of reaction-diffusion systems with small diffusion coefficients and that of the corresponding reaction systems.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions for a class of three-species predator-prey reaction-diffusion systems with time delays under homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. Some simple and easily verifiable conditions are given to the rate constants of the reaction functions to ensure the convergence of the time-dependent solution to a constant steady-state solution. The conditions for the convergence are independent of diffusion coefficients and time delays, and the conclusions are directly applicable to the corresponding parabolic-ordinary differential system and to the corresponding system without time delays.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a time-delayed Lotka–Volterra competition reaction–diffusion system with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Some explicit and easily verifiable conditions are obtained for the global asymptotic stability of all forms of nonnegative semitrivial constant steady-state solutions. These conditions involve only the competing rate constants and are independent of the diffusion–convection and time delays. The result of global asymptotic stability implies the nonexistence of positive steady-state solutions, and gives some extinction results of the competing species in the ecological sense. The instability of the trivial steady-state solution is also shown.  相似文献

Summary This paper is concerned with finite difference solutions of a system of reaction-diffusion equations with coupled nonlinear boundary conditions and time delays. The reaction functions and the boundary functions are not necessarily quasimonotone, and the time delays may appear in the reaction functions as well as in the boundary functions. The investigation is devoted to the finite difference system for both the time-dependent problem and its corresponding steady-state problem. Some monotone iteration processes for the finite difference systems are given, and the asymptotic behavior of the time-dependent solution in relation to the steady-state solution is discussed. The asymptotic behavior result leads to some local and global attractors of the time-dependent problem, including the convergence of the time-dependent solution to a unique steady-state solution. An application and some numerical results to an enzyme-substrate reaction-diffusion problem are given. All the results are directly applicable to parabolic-ordinary systems and to reaction-diffusion systems without time delays. Some coupled reaction-diffusion systems arising from chemical diffusion processes and combustion theory are analyzed. This analysis includes the existence and uniqueness of positive time-dependent solutions, upper and lower bounds of the solution, asymptotic behavior and invariant sets, and the stability of steady-state solutions, including an estimate of the stability region. Explicit conditions for the asymptotic behavior and the stability of a steady-state solution are given. These conditions establish some interrelationship among the physical parameters of the diffusion medium, the reaction mechanism, the initial function and the type of boundary condition. Under the same set of physical parameters and reaction function, a comparison between the Neumann type and Dirichlet or third type boundary condition exhibits quite different asymptotic behavior of the solution. For the general nonhomogeneous system, multiple steady-state solutions may exist and only local stability results are obtained. However, for certain models it is possible to obtain global stability of a steady-state solution by either increasing the diffusion coefficients or decreasing the size of the diffusion medium. This fact is demonstrated by a one-dimensional tubular reactor model commonly discussed in the literature.  相似文献

In the study of asymptotic behavior of solutions for reaction diffusion systems, an important concern is to determine whether and when the system has a global attractor which attracts all positive time-dependent solutions. The aim of this paper is to investigate the global attraction problem for a finite difference system which is a discrete approximation of a coupled system of two reaction diffusion equations with time delays. Sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the existence and global attraction of a positive solution of the corresponding steady-state system. Applications are given to three types of Lotka-Volterra reaction diffusion models, where time-delays may appear in the opposing species.  相似文献

This paper studies the general nonautonomous single-species Kolmogorov systems with delays. The sufficient conditions on the persistence and permanence of species, global asymptotic stability and the existence of positive periodic solutions are established. As applications of these results, the permanence, global asymptotic stability and the existence of positive periodic solutions for a series of special single-species growth systems with delays are discussed.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with global asymptotic stability of a class of reaction-diffusion stochastic Bi-directional Associative Memory (BAM) neural networks with discrete and distributed delays. Based on suitable assumptions, we apply the linear matrix inequality (LMI) method to propose some new sufficient stability conditions for reaction-diffusion stochastic BAM neural networks with discrete and distributed delays. The obtained results are easy to check and improve upon the existing stability results. An example is also given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.  相似文献

In this paper, a retarded impulsive n-species Lotka–Volterra competition system with feedback controls is studied. Some sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee the global exponential stability and global asymptotic stability of a unique equilibrium for such a high-dimensional biological system. The problem considered in this paper is in many aspects more general and incorporates as special cases various problems which have been extensively studied in the literature. Moreover, applying the obtained results to some special cases, I derive some new criteria which generalize and greatly improve some well known results. A method is proposed to investigate biological systems subjected to the effect of both impulses and delays. The method is based on Banach fixed point theory and matrix’s spectral theory as well as Lyapunov function. Moreover, some novel analytic techniques are employed to study GAS and GES. It is believed that the method can be extended to other high-dimensional biological systems and complex neural networks. Finally, two examples show the feasibility of the results.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with finite difference solutions of a coupled system of reaction-diffusion equations with nonlinear boundary conditions and time delays. The system is coupled through the reaction functions as well as the boundary conditions, and the time delays may appear in both the reaction functions and the boundary functions. The reaction-diffusion system is discretized by the finite difference method, and the investigation is devoted to the finite difference equations for both the time-dependent problem and its corresponding steady-state problem. This investigation includes the existence and uniqueness of a finite difference solution for nonquasimonotone functions, monotone convergence of the time-dependent solution to a maximal or a minimal steady-state solution for quasimonotone functions, and local and global attractors of the time-dependent system, including the convergence of the time-dependent solution to a unique steady-state solution. Also discussed are some computational algorithms for numerical solutions of the steady-state problem when the reaction function and the boundary function are quasimonotone. All the results for the coupled reaction-diffusion equations are directly applicable to systems of parabolic-ordinary equations and to reaction-diffusion systems without time delays.  相似文献

This paper presents a qualitative analysis for a coupled system of two reaction-diffusion equations under various boundary conditions which arises from a number of physical problems. The nonlinear reaction functions are classified into three basic types according to their relative quasi-monotone property. For each type of reaction functions, an existence-comparison theorem, in terms of upper and lower solutions, is established for the time-dependent system as well as some boundary value problems. Three concrete physical systems arising from epidemics, biochemistry and engineering are taken as representatives of the basic types of reacting problems. Through suitable construction of upper and lower solutions, various qualitative properties of the solution for each system are obtained. These include the existence and bounds of time-dependent solutions, asymptotic behavior of the solution, stability and instability of nontrivial steady-state solutions, estimates of stability regions, and finally the blowing-up property of the solution. Special attention is given to the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence, stability, and global attractivity of time-periodic solutions for a class of coupled parabolic equations in a bounded domain. The problem under consideration includes coupled system of parabolic and ordinary differential equations, and time delays may appear in the nonlinear reaction functions. Our approach to the problem is by the method of upper and lower solutions and its associated monotone iterations. The existence of time-periodic solutions is for a class of locally Lipschitz continuous reaction functions without any quasimonotone requirement using Schauder fixed point theorem, while the stability and attractivity analysis is for quasimonotone nondecreasing and mixed quasimonotone reaction functions using the monotone iterative scheme. The results for the general system are applied to the standard parabolic equations without time delay and to the corresponding ordinary differential system. Applications are also given to three Lotka-Volterra reaction diffusion model problems, and in each problem a sufficient condition on the reaction rates is obtained to ensure the stability and global attractivity of positive periodic solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the existence and attractivity of periodic solutions for non-autonomous reaction-diffusion Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with discrete time delays. By combining the Lyapunov functional method with the contraction mapping principle and Poincaré inequality, we establish several criteria for the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solutions. More interestingly, Poincaré inequality is used to handle the reaction-diffusion terms, hence all the criteria depend on reaction-diffusion terms. These criteria are applicable in Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with both the Dirichlet and the Neumann boundary conditions on a general space domain. Several examples with numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the results.  相似文献

We investigate reaction–diffusion equation with spatio-temporal delays, the global existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of solutions for which in relation to constant steady-state solution, included in the region of attraction of a stable steady solution. It is shown that if the delay reaction function satisfies some conditions and the system possesses a pair of upper and lower solutions then there exists a unique global solution. In terms of the maximal and minimal constant solutions of the corresponding steady-state problem, we get the asymptotic stability of reaction–diffusion equation with spatio-temporal delay. Applying this theory to Lotka–Volterra model with spatio-temporal delay, we get the global solution asymptotically tend to the steady-state problem’s steady-state solution.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider separable nonlinear delay differential systems and we establish conditions for global asymptotic stability of the zero solution. Applying these, we offer improved 3/2-type criteria for global asymptotic stability of nonautonomous Lotka-Volterra systems with delays.  相似文献
