This paper is motivated by the stability problem of nonconstant periodic solutions of time‐periodic Lagrangian equations, like the swing and the elliptic Sitnikov problem. As a beginning step, we will study the linearized stability and instability of nonconstant periodic solutions that are bifurcated from those of autonomous Lagrangian equations. Applying the theory for Hill equations, we will establish a criterion for linearized stability. The criterion shows that the linearized stability depends on the temporal frequencies of the perturbed systems in a delicate way.  相似文献

We establish a criterion for a periodic monotone system to display a fully one dimensional dynamical behavior. We consider the noise-induced transitions from a linearly stable periodic orbit consisting of T periodic points in randomly perturbed discrete logistic map. Traditional large deviation theory and asymptotic analysis at small noise limit cannot distinguish the quantitative difference in noise-induced stochastic instabilities among the T periodic points. To attack this problem, we generalize the transition path theory to the discrete-time continuous-space stochastic process. In our first criterion to quantify the relative instability among T periodic points, we use the distribution of the last passage location related to the transitions from the whole periodic orbit to a prescribed disjoint set. This distribution is related to individual contributions to the transition rate from each periodic points. The second criterion is based on the competency of the transition paths associated with each periodic point. Both criteria utilize the reactive probability current in the transition path theory. Our numerical results for the logistic map reveal the transition mechanism of escaping from the stable periodic orbit and identify which periodic point is more prone to lose stability so as to make successful transitions under random perturbations.  相似文献

In this paper, we present results of numerical experiments on chaotic transients in families of the logistic and Hénon maps. The duration of chaotic transients (the rambling time) for logistic maps estimated according to a rigorous criterion shows monotonic regularities with respect to both the period and the number of periodic window in a series of a given period. Due to inapplicability of this criterion to multidimensional maps, a more universal, though approximate, criterion is systematically studied on the family of logistic maps to optimize a choice of the free parameter value. The same approximate criterion is used to estimate rambling time for a number of periodic windows for the family of Hénon maps. The dependence of the rambling time on the width of periodic windows is tested.  相似文献

We first analyze the integrated density of states (IDS) of periodic Schrödinger operators on an amenable covering manifold. A criterion for the continuity of the IDS at a prescribed energy is given along with examples of operators with both continuous and discontinuous IDS. Subsequently, alloy-type perturbations of the periodic operator are considered. The randomness may enter both via the potential and the metric. A Wegner estimate is proven which implies the continuity of the corresponding IDS. This gives an example of a discontinuous “periodic” IDS which is regularized by a random perturbation.  相似文献

This paper concerns the shape identification problem of anisotropic periodic structures which are known as diffraction gratings. We study the so-called Factorization method as a tool for reconstructing the anisotropic periodic media from measured spectral data involving scattered electromagnetic waves in TM modes. This sampling method provides a simple criterion to compute a picture of shape of diffraction gratings in a rapid way. This paper deals with the existence and global exponential stability of almost periodic solutions for quaternion-valued high-order Hopfield neural networks with delays by a direct approach. Based on the contraction mapping principle, sufficient conditions are derived to ensure the existence and uniqueness of almost periodic solutions for the networks under consideration. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, the global exponential stability criterion of the almost periodic solution are derived. We propose a new quadratic control problem for linear periodic systems which can be finite or infinite dimensional. We consider both deterministic and stochastic cases. It is a generalization of average cost criterion, which is usually considered for time-invariant systems. We give sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solutions.Under stabilizability and detectability conditions we show that the optimal control is given by a periodic feedback which involves the periodic solution of a Riccati equation. The optimal closed-loop system has a unique periodic solution which is globally exponentially asymptotically stable. In the stochastic case we also consider the quadratic problem under partial observation. Under two sets of stabilizability and detectability conditions we obtain the separation principle. The filter equation is not periodic, but we show that it can be effectively replaced by a periodic filter. The theory is illustrated by simple examples.This work was done while this author was a visiting professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa.  相似文献
