Let be a unital C*-algebra and G the group of units of . A geometrical study of the action of G over the set + of all positive elements of is presented. The orbits of elements with closed range by this action are provided with a structure of differentiable homogeneous space with a natural connection. Let be an Abelian Archimedean lattice ordered algebra. The order bidual furnished with the Arens product is again a lattice ordered algebra. We show that the order continuous order bidual is Abelian. This solves an open problem and improves a result of Scheffold, who proved it for the case of normed lattice ordered algebras. The proof is based on the up-down-up approximation of positive elements in the order continuous order bidual by elements in the canonical image of in Components of positive elements in are characterized and the result is applied to the Arens product of -and almost -algebras.  相似文献

We consider the series and whose coefficients satisfy the condition for , where the sequence can be expressed as the union of a finite number of lacunary sequences. The following results are obtained. If as , then the series is uniformly convergent. If for all , then the sequence of partial sums of this series is uniformly bounded. If the series is convergent for and as , then this series is uniformly convergent. If the sequence of partial sums of the series for is bounded and for all , then the sequence of partial sums of this series is uniformly bounded. In these assertions, conditions on the rates of decrease of the coefficients of the series are also necessary if the sequence is lacunary. In the general case, they are not necessary.  相似文献

We consider the extremal problem to determine the maximal number of columns of a 0-1 matrix with rows and at most ones in each column such that each columns are linearly independent modulo . For fixed integers and , we shall prove the probabilistic lower bound = ; for a power of , we prove the upper bound which matches the lower bound for infinitely many values of . This property is studied and characterized both analytically by some extreme point condition and geometrically by means of the behaviour under A of the faces of the cone K. It is shown that the conditions which have been obtained for finite dimensional spaces in earlier relevant papers are special cases of conditions presented in this paper. In order to study the extension of to a contaction semigroup on , Shigekawa [Sh] studied recently the domination property where is a symmetric sub-Markovian semigroup on . He gives in the setting of square field operators sufficient conditions for the above inequality. The aim of the present paper is to show that the methods of [12] and [13] can be applied in the present setting and provide two ways for the extension of to We give necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of sesquilinear forms for the contractivity property as well as for the above domination property in a more general situation.  相似文献

Using an analog of the classical Frobenius recursion, we define the notion of a Frobenius -homomorphism. For , this is an ordinary ring homomorphism. We give a constructive proof of the following theorem. Let X be a compact Hausdorff space, the th symmetric power of X, and the algebra of continuous complex-valued functions on X with the sup-norm; then the evaluation map defined by the formula identifies the space with the space of all Frobenius -homomorphisms of the algebra into with the weak topology.  相似文献

It is proven that ifE and F are complex Riesz spaces and ifT is an order bounded disjointness preserving operator fromE intoF , then This fundamental result of M. Meyer is obtained by elementary means using as the main tool the functional calculus derived from the Freudenthal spectral theorem. It is also shown that ifT is an order bounded disjointness preserving operator, a formula of the form holds. It implies a polar decomposition of an order bounded disjointness preserving operator as the product of a Riesz homomorphism and an orthomorphism. Results of P. We study positive semicharacters of generating Lie subsemigroup of a connected Lie group . These semicharacters are important for positive representations of in Hilbert space and for completely monotonic functions in . We describe the tangent map for a positive semicharacter and then obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for nontriviality of the wedge consisting of all bounded positive semicharacters of . It is proved that if a normal semifinite weight on a von Neumann algebra satisfies the inequality for any selfadjoint operators in , then this weight is a trace. Several similar characterizations of traces among the normal semifinite weights are proved. In particular, Gardner's result on the characterization of traces by the inequality is refined and reinforced.  相似文献

If a regular graph of valence and diameter has vertices, then , which was proved by Moore (cf. [1]). Graphs for which this non-strict inequality turns into an equality are called Moore graphs. Such have an odd girth equal to . The simplest example of a Moore graph is furnished by a -triangle. Damerell proved that a Moore graph of valence has diameter 2. In this case , the graph is strongly regular with and , and the valence is equal to 3 (Peterson's graph), to 7 (Hoffman–Singleton's graph), or to 57. The first two graphs are of rank 3. Whether a Moore graph of valence exists is not known; yet, Aschbacher proved that the Moore graph with will not be a rank 3 graph. We call the Moore graph with the Aschbacher graph. Cameron showed that such cannot be vertex transitive. Let be an entire function of finite type with respect to finite order and let be a subset of an open cone in a certain n-dimensional subspace (the smaller , the sparser ).
