A theoretical study is made of M+ and E+ heavy lepton production in inclusive neutrino reactions. The production cross sections on protons are found to be enhanced over those for isoscalar targets and can in principle exceed the cross sections for the ordinary vμ+p→μ?+X process at high energies. New estimates are given for the decay branching ratios taking into account the SPEAR data on electron positron annihilation. Monte Carlo techniques are employed to calculate q2 ? v spectra and y distributions for both the production process where vμ→M+ and the effective process where vμμ+. The normalized results are rather insensitive to the set of structure functions used.  相似文献

An event with the decay chain Σc+Λc+ + π0, Λc+ → K? + p + π+, has been observed in an exposure of BEBC, equipped with a track sensitive target, to the wide band neutrino beam from the SPS at CERN. The event has a unique three constraint kinematic fit to the ΔS = ?ΔQ reaction v + p → μ? + p + K? + π+ + π+ + π0 with both gammas from the π0 decay detected. The proton and other final state particles are identified. The masses are M(Λc+) = 2290 ± 3 MeV/c2, M(Σc+) = 2457 ± 4 MeV/c2 and M(Σc+) ? M(Λc+) = 168 ± 3 MeV/c2. Including other data one obtains M (Σc++) ? M(Σc+) = 0 ± 4 MeV/c2.  相似文献

An event of the form e+e?μ+μ? + (2 jets) recently observed at √s = 43.45 GeV is interpreted as production of a pair of neutral heavy leptons N, each with mass 20.5 ± 1.0 Gev/c2. Two possibilities are explored: (i) the lepton is a wak isodoublet neutrino, produced in pairs by virtual Z0 decay. In this case, one expects B(Z0NN) ≈ 5%; (ii) the lepton is a “right-handed neutrino”, produced in pairs via a new vector boson Zχ. In this case, in one model, the Zχ must lie between about 50 and 67 GeV/c2. More generally, it must be very weakly coupled to ordinary quarks and leptons in order not to conflict with low-q2 neutral-current data. Suggestions are made for further observation of NN pairs and other effects of Zχ in forthcoming e+e? and pp collisions.  相似文献

Yields, Y, of H+ and He+ emerging specularly with the energy for single binary elastic collisions have been measured from polycrystalline Ag and Pd surfaces bombarded with mixed monoenergetic (300 < E0 < 2600 eV) beams of H2+3He+ impinging at an angle of 45° from the surface normal. The surfaces were exposed to H2+ at a dynamic pressure of 8 × 10?3 Pa (6 × 10?5 Torr) during the measurements. The He+ yields from Pd are slightly larger than from Ag, and the H+ yields from Pd are 10 to 40 times as large as those from Ag. These results suggest that differences between Pd and Ag in the amount of hydrogen adsorbed and in the character of the hydrogen-metal bond may be responsible for the yield differences through shadowing by, and possibly the sputtering of, adsorbed hydrogen. The Y versus E0 curves for all four systems have qualitatively the same singly peaked shape which implies that reactive and noble gas ions undergo similar neutralization processes during elastic surface collisions. The ratios of the yields from Ag and Pd do not exhibit the theoretically expected exponential dependence on collision time over the entire range studied, but at the lowest energies the ratios lead to estimates of the difference of neutralization constants which do agree with theory. The potential utility of the large difference in proton yields from Ag and Pd for studying the Ag-Pd alloy system is noted.  相似文献

The effect of additional doping with M+2 ions on the luminescence of NaCl:Pb+2 has been systematically investigated. The data show that the same two emissions at 310 and 380 nm are observed for mixed Pb+2-M+2 clusters as for Pb+2 aggregates. Moreover, the presence of a M+2 ion associated to a Pb+2 ion in a mixed cluster shifts the 310 nm emission (predominantly observed for free Pb+2-vacancy dipoles) to 380 nm. The results are consistent with the Fukuda's model, involving an emission at 310 nm from tetragonal (T) minima in the adiabatic potential energy surface (APES) and another one from less symmetry (X) minima at 380 nm. The data for NaCl:Pb+2:Mn+2, show that an excitation transfer is taking place from the X minima of the 3T1u state of Pb+2 to Mn+2.  相似文献

The reaction γ + Be → e+e? + X was studied with a bremsstrahlung beam of 7.2 GeV maximum energy. For invariant pair masses 1.8 ? Me+e? 2.6 GeV, no evidence for narrow resonance of width smaller than 40 MeV was found. For the mass interval 2.1 ? Me+e? ? 2.6 GeV, we obtained an upper limit of σ · Be+e? < 2 × 10?35 cm2/nucleon (90% confidence level), assuming a production mechanism similar to the θ (1019) meson.  相似文献

An upper limit of 3 × 10?42Eν cm2 per electron, at 90% confidence level, has been obtained for the cross section of the process νμ + e?νμ + e?, interpreted in the usual V-A framework, for an electron recoil energy larger than 0.3 GeV. This estimate is based on the observation of one candidate event in exposures of Gargamelle to the CERN PS neutrino beam.  相似文献

A systematic study of the product((E(2_2~+)/E(2_1~+))*B(E2)↑) is carried out in the major shell space Z=50-82,N=82-126 within the framework of the asymmetric rotor model where the asymmetry parameter γ0reflects change in the nuclear structure.A systematic study of the product((E(2+)/E(2+))*B(E2)↑) with neutron number N is also discussed.The product((E(2_2~+)/E(2_1~+))*B(E2)↑) provides a direct correlation with the asymmetry parameter γ0.The effect of subshells is visible in Ba-Gd nuclei with N 82,but not in Hf-Pt nuclei with N 104.We study,for the first time,the dependency of the product((E(2_2~+)/E(2_1~+))*B(E2)↑) on the asymmetry parameterγ0.  相似文献

Spectra of GeS have been obtained in a chemiluminescent flame produced by the reaction Ge + OCS → GeS + CO. Neither of the known band systems, D1Π-X1Σ+ and E1Σ+-X1Σ+, was observed, but two new band systems in the regions 350–400 and 420–650 nm were obtained. By comparison with similar systems in isovalent molecules, these were assigned as b3Π1-X1Σ+ and a3Σ+-X1Σ+, respectively. Vibrational assignments were made with the help of the germanium isotope effect and vibrational constants were obtained for the states involved. Approximate Morse potential Franck-Condon factors were computed and were shown to fit the general trend of the intensity distribution for both systems. Addition of active nitrogen to the flame was shown to increase the intensity of the b-X system by an order of magnitude while hardly affecting the a-X system. Constants (in cm?1) obtained for the two new states are: a3Σ+: Te = 21986.3 ± 2.3, ωe = 388.9 ± 1.0, ωexe = 1.35 ± 0.11; b3Π1: Te = 27192.0 ± 1.8, ωe = 435.4 ± 1.1, ωexe = 1.68 ± 0.20.  相似文献

Threshold π+ electroproduction has been measured at momentum transfers 6k26 of 0.45, 0.58 and 0.88 (GeV/c)2, extending the range of earlier measurements. Using PCAC and current algebra-based models we have deduced the axial vector form factor of the nucleon GA(k2), and find that the dipole parametrisation is favoured over the monopole. The value of MA in the dipole parametrisation is, in a weak PCAC model, 0.96 ± 0.03 GeV, in excellent agreement with neutrino measurements. The threshold cross section is also in excellent agreement with the predictions of a fixed-t dispersion relation model.  相似文献

A result of the polarization labelling spectroscopy of the A 1Σ+u band of sodium dimer for the high vibrational quantum number υ'>20 is reported. The frequency difference δv=vobs-vcal is found to decrease from 2 to -3 cm-1 as the rotational levels (υ'=27?30), where vcal is the calculated transition frequency using the Dunham coefficients of Demtröder and Stock for the X 1Σ+g band and of Kusch and Hessel for the A 1Σ+u band.  相似文献

The rotation-vibration Hamiltonian for an equilateral triangular X3 molecule is derived in terms of the three curvilinear stretching coordinates Δri, and expanded in the form of a power series in the variables yi = 1 ? exp(-aΔri), where a is a molecular parameter obtained from the potential function. The reason for the use of the variable yi is twofold: Stretching potentials exhibit a much stronger convergence in the yi than in the Δri, and a Hamiltonian expressed in the yi can be diagonalized in a straightforward fashion using a Morse-oscillator basis set as we do here. Using a published ab initio potential surface we have expanded it as a polynomial in the yi, and have calculated variationally the rotation-vibration energies of H3+ and D3+ using a symmetry-adapted Morse-oscillator-rigid symmetric top basis set. The results indicate that an expansion of the potential function to quartic terms in the yi might be adequate, and that satisfactorily converged energies can be obtained with a relatively small basis set. The molecule H3+ is the simplest polyatomic molecule. Inspection of the Appendix of this paper shows that the rotation-vibration Hamiltonian used here is one of the more complicated ones.  相似文献

Conversion electron measurements of the low-energy transition depopulating the isomeric 8+ level in 208Po yielded Eγ = 4025 ± 20 eV and the conversion intensity ratios N1/N2 ? 0.2, N2/N3 = 0.75 ± 0.10, N4.5/N3 ? 0.2, O/N3 = 0.35 ± 0.10, P/N3 ? 0.1 and N3/M3 = 0.4 ± 0.2. These ratios are in accord with our calculations for the E2 multipolarity and exclude all other multipolarities with L ≦ 4. The total conversion coefficient was calculated to be 1.31 × 107.  相似文献

Divalent manganese ions are found in potassium chromate single crystals after heating at 600°C in the presence of iodine. These ions occupy three differently oriented sites with the same spin Hamiltonian parameters: gz = 2·000, gx = 2·008, gy = 2·015; Az = ?88·4 G, Ax = Ay = ?91 G; D = 190 and E = ?30 G.The authors suggest that Mn2+ occupies a substitutional (K+) position rather than an interstitial one. The average charged particle multiplicity, 〈nch(MX2)〉, in the reaction K+p→KoX++ is studied as a function of the mass squared, MX2, of the recoil system X and also as a function of the Ko transverse momentum, pT, at incident momenta of 5.0, 8.2 and 16.0 GeV/c. The complete data samples yield distributions which are not independent of c.m. energy squared, s, They exhibit a linear dependence on log (MX2X/Mo2)[Mo2=1 GeV2] with a change in slope occurring for MX2s/2, and do not agree with the corresponding distributions of 〈nch〉 as a function of s for K+ p inelastic scattering. Sub-samples of the data for which Ko production via beam fragmentation, central production and target fragmentation are expected to be the dominant mechanisms show that, within error, the distribution of 〈nch(MX2)〉 versus MX2 is independent of incident momentum for each sub-sample separately. In particular in the beam fragmentation region the 〈nch(MX2)〉 versus MX2 distribution agrees rather well with that of 〈nch〉 versus s for inelastic K+p interactions. The latter result agrees with recent results on the reactions pp → pX and π?p → pX in the NAL energy range. Evidence is presented for the presence of different production mechanisms in these separate regions.  相似文献

The asymmetry of πo and π+ photoproduction from hydrogen has been measured. The πo-mesons were detected at 130° cms with Eγ ranged from 0.9 to 1.65 GeV, and the π+-mesons at 40° cms with Eγ ranged from 0.9 to 1.2 GeV. The results agree with model predictions of single pion photoproduction in the resonance region using fixed-t dispersion relations.  相似文献

In this paper we report new results of EPR experiments on orthorhombic Gd3+-M+ complexes (M = Na, K, Rb and Ag) in SrF2. Special attention is payed to the second degree crystal field parameters B02 and B22 and a comparison with earlier results on corresponding complexes in CaF2 and BaF2 is made. We conclude that the main contributions to these crystal field parameters are of electrostatic nature.  相似文献

Twelve bands of the N2+B2Σu+-X2Σg+ system, including vB = 0–6 and vX = 0–8, are reanalyzed. All effects of B2Σu+A2Πu perturbations are explicitly considered. Despite the use of high precision (0.01 cm?1) line measurements, no evidence for a perturber other than A2Πu is obtained. Deperturbed constants for the B2Σu+ and X2Σg+ states are derived. The deperturbation is shown to be self-consistent and complete (excluding effects of the C2Σu+ state) by examining semiempirical relationships of the perturbation matrix elements with the spin-rotation constants of the B and X states and atomic spin-orbit parameters. A number of previous analyses of transitions involving the vB = 3 and 5 levels are found to be incorrect.  相似文献

The momenta of ~30 000 charged particles from K+ decays were measured using a magnetic spectrometer with streamer chambers. The ratio R = Γ(Kπ2+)/Γ(Kμ2+) = 0.3355 ± 0.0057 was obtained. Our values for the branching ratios are: (63.18±0.43)% for Kμ2+, (21.18±0.33)% for Kπ2+, (3.33±0.51)% for Kμ3+, (4.99±0.54)% for Ke3+.  相似文献
