The analyzing power of 6Li for the elastic scattering of polarized neutrons with energies between 2 and 4 MeV, has been measured at six angles ranging from 25° to 150°. The polarized neutrons were generated from the reactions Pb(γ, n) and 12C(n, n), and their polarization was measured using the double-scattering method. The neutron energies were determined with a nanosecond timeof-flight spectrometer. In addition, the differential cross section was measured at three angles in the same energy range; the cross section was determined relative to the well-known n-12C cross section. The present results have been combined with existing data for the neutron total, (n, α), and differential elastic cross sections, in a reduced R-function analysis. Clear evidence of a p-wave triplet of shellmodel states emerges from the analysis.  相似文献

Differential cross sections for elastic K+p scattering have been measured at nineteen momenta between 0.7 and 1.9 GeV/c. The data represent between 10 thousand and 20 thousand elastic events at each momentum and cover a wide range of scattering angles (?0.98 ? cos θ 1 ? 0.95). A computer controlled system of scintillation counters and acoustic spark chambers was used to detect the elastic events. Various internal consistency checks indicate that the absolute normalization of the data is accurate to within 2–3%. The cross sections show a smooth transition from an isotropic angular distribution to a dominant forward peak over the range covered by the experiment. Phase-shift analyses including these results show little evidence for a direct-channel resonance, and fitting the results by t- and u-channel exchange processes alone gives a good fit.  相似文献

The first results obtained in 1998 by the Crystal Ball collaboration from a measurement of the total and differential cross sections for the reaction π ? pηn are presented. These new experimental results for the total cross sections are compared with the predictions of the K-matrix model for pion-nucleon scattering. The angular distribution at momenta near the reaction threshold (685 MeV/c) is determined by the S-wave contribution. The P-wave contribution begins to manifest itself from a momentum of 720 MeV/c.  相似文献

We have measured the differential cross section for π?p elastic scattering at eight incident momenta, 2.06, 2.26, 2.45, 2.65, 2.86, 3.05, 3.26 and 3.48 GeV/c, in a wide range of c.m. scattering angle between 15° and 160°. A pronounced dip-bump structure has been found at large angles. Details of the structure are quantitatively described as functions of the incident momentum.  相似文献

The π? p differential elastic scattering cross sections have been measured for eight momenta in the 33–55 GeV/c range. The energy dependence of the slope and of the total elastic scattering cross sections has been determined experimentally. The results are compared with the known data. The experimental data are compared both with the Regge pole model and with the quasi-potential one.  相似文献

New high-statistics measurements of π+p elastic scattering differential cross sections are presented at 30 momentum points between 1.282 and 2.472 GeV/c, covering most of the angular distribution outside the forward diffractive peak. These data show significant disagreements at some momenta with previous high-statistics experiments and with current partial wave analyses.  相似文献

We have measured total cross sections for neutrons on protons, deuteriom, beryllium, carbon, aluminium, iron, copper, cadmium, tungsten, lead, and uranium for momenta between 30 and 300 GeV/c. The measurements were carried out in a small-angle neutral beam at Fermilab. Typical accuracy of the data is 0.5 to 1%. The cross sections are consistent with an A0.77±0.01 dependence over the entire momentum range. The cross sections are compared with theoretical predictions. Agreement is found only if inelastic screening is included. Nuclear radii obtained from our data are in good agreement with previous determinations.  相似文献

Inclusive cross sections for Ξ - hyperon production in high-energy Σ -, π - and neutron induced interactions were measured by the experiment WA89 at CERN. Secondary Σ - and π - beams with average momenta of 345 GeV/c and a neutron beam of 260 GeV/c were produced by primary protons of 450 GeV/c from the CERN SPS. The influence of the target mass on the Ξ - cross section is explored by comparing reactions on copper and carbon nuclei. Both single and double differential cross sections are presented as a function of the transverse momentum and the Feynman variable x F. A strong leading effect for Σ - produced by Σ - is observed.  相似文献

The angular distribution of neutrons emitted by elastic, inelastic and fission processes on235U were measured at the incident neutron energies of 1.5, 1.9, 2.3, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 MeV using nanosecond time-of-flight technique. The differential elastic scattering cross sections and their angular distributions at all the seven energies are presented. The total elastic scattering cross sections, angle and energy integrated cross sections for the inelastically scattered neutrons in energy bands of 200 keV, fission cross sections and the angular distributions of fission neutrons were extracted at 1.5, 1.9 and 2.3 MeV incident neutron energies. The energy distributions of the prompt fission neutrons and of the inelastically scattered neutrons are given at the incoming neutron energies of 1.5, 1.9 and 2.3 MeV; and the average fission neutron energies and the inelastic neutron evaporation temperatures were also evaluated at these energies.  相似文献

Relative differential cross sections of neutrons elastically scattered from 4He were measured at neutron energies of 0.55, 0.84, 1.16 and 1.33 MeV. The scattered neutrons were detected in a time-of-flight spectrometer for c.m. angles ranging from 25° to 161°. We present differential cross sections for elastic pd scattering at beam momenta 0.735 and 0.940 GeV/c and momentum transfers in the range 0.04<|t|<0.5(GeV/c)2. The pd elastic differential cross section is expressed in terms of a deutron form factor and the I=0 t-channel exchange NN amplitudes, enabling us to isolate the corresponding I=0 t-channel exchange cross sections.  相似文献

The differential cross sections for the reaction π ? pπ 0 n were measured for scattering angles in the backward hemisphere. The experiment was performed by using the pion channel of the synchrocyclotron installed at the Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (PNPI, Gatchina), the momenta of incident pions being varied in the range between 456 and 710 MeV/c. The measurements were performed by recording the recoil neutron in coincidence with one of the photons from the decay process π 0 → 2γ. The experimental facility used is described, and the results of the measurements are presented. These new results are characterized by a statistical accuracy higher than that of all results published previously and are in better agreement with the predictions of the partial-wave analysis (SM-95 version) performed by a group from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.  相似文献

Energy and angular distributions of the neutrons and the α particle from the reaction 6He(γ, 2n)4He is examined in the minimal approximation of the hyperspherical-function method in the algebraic version of the resonating-group method. The differential cross section for 6He photodisintegration is calculated as a function of the energies of the product particles, the angles between their momenta, and their emission angles with respect to the incident-photon momentum.  相似文献

The np elastic differential cross section has been measured for incident neutron momenta 100–400 GeV/c in the |t| range 6 · 10?6 ? 5 · 10?1 (GeV/c)2. The np data of this experiment provide a first direct measurement of the hadronic amplitude for |t| < 10?2 (GeV/c)2, which is consistent with the extrapolations from higher |t| values. Our data for |t| < 10?4 (GeV/c)2 are consistent with a rise which can be attributed to Schwinger scattering, caused by the interaction of the neutron magnetic moment with the proton.  相似文献

利用冷靶反冲离子动量谱仪装置系统研究了20—40 keV He2+-He碰撞体系的态选择单电子俘获过程,实验获得了单电子俘获过程的态选择截面以及角微分截面.在所研究的能区范围,电子俘获到L壳层的截面最大,为主要的反应道,这与分子库仑过垒模型的反应窗理论的预测一致.实验测量的态选择截面与原子轨道紧耦合的计算结果很好地符合,与光谱方法的测量结果存在一定的差别,主要原因是光谱方法不能测量完整的反应通道信息.实验结果表明,总角微分截面在小角度范围主要来源于电子俘获到基态的贡献,在大角度范围主要来自电子俘获到激发态的贡献;电子俘获到基态的和激发态的角微分截面均出现振荡结构,这种振荡来源于电子俘获反应中分子轨道之间的相干效应.实验测量的角微分截面与其他实验和紧耦合方法的计算结果进行了比较和分析. 关键词: 冷靶反冲离子动量谱仪 态选择电子俘获 态选择截面 角微分截面  相似文献

Hoping to find resonant structures in the momentum dependence of π?p elastic scattering we have measured the differential cross section for this reaction at c.m. angles near 90°. An intense pion beam (≈ 107π/s) has been used, together with a high incident momentum resolution (dP/P ≈ 2 × 10?4), to scan the region of laboratory momenta from 5.75 to 13.02 GeV/c (c.m. energy from 3.42 to 5.03 GeV). The sensitivity attained by the experiment is such that signals would have been seen corresponding to the formation of non-strange baryon resonances having width larger than ≈ 0.1 MeV and elasticity larger than a few per cent. Within these limits no resonances were sighted.  相似文献

The polarization of neutrons produced in the reaction12C(d, n 0)13N was measured. Deuterons from the Karlsruhe isochronous cyclotron were used to induce this reaction at 51,5 MeV laboratory energy. The degree of polarization was determined by using the special features of Mott-Schwinger scattering. With an uranium scatterer analysing efficiencies of up to 0.92 can be obtained at very small angles (0.23°). The analysing efficiency can be calculated if the differential cross section at 0° and the total cross section is known. These quantities were experimentally determined. The differential cross section for 49.4 MeV neutrons, scattered by uranium, was measured between 0.88° and 2.10°. By an extrapolation the value 43.4±2.6 b/sr was found for the nuclear differential cross section at zero degree. A total cross section ofσ t=4.80±0.22 b was obtained. The neutron polarization was measured at a reaction angle of 24.5° and the result isP=?0.45±0.07. This value is fairly above the semiclassical 1/3 limit and can be only explained, if spin orbit forces are taken into account. For (d, n) reactions this is the first neutron-polarization measurement above an energy of 20 MeV.  相似文献

The reaction π?p → ωn has been studied at 8 and 12 GeV/c incident momenta with the CERN Omega spectrometer using a neutron time of flight trigger. The differential cross sections and the ω-decay density matrix elements are presented as functions of the momentum transfer squared ?t in the range of 0.02 to 0.80 GeV2. The data are used to evaluate the intercept and slope of both the natural and unnatural parity exchange trajectories. Regge exchange amplitude factorisation tests involving the reaction πN → ωN are investigated.  相似文献

We report new measurements of the neutron–deuteron elastic scattering cross section at energies from 135 to 250 MeV and center-of-mass angles from 80? to 130?. Cross sections for neutron-proton elastic scattering were also measured with the same experimental setup for normalization purposes. Our nd cross section results are compared with predictions based on Faddeev calculations including three-nucleon forces, and with cross sections measured with charged particle and neutron beams at comparable energies.  相似文献
