Experimental investigations of the influence of streamwise streaky structures on turbulization of a circular laminar jet are described. The qualitative characteristics of jet evolution are studied by smoke visualization of the flow pattern in the jet and by filming the transverse and longitudinal sections of the jet illuminated by the laser sheet with image stroboscopy. It is shown that the streaky structures can be generated directly at the nozzle exit, and their interaction with the Kelvin–Helmholtz ring vortices leads to emergence of azimuthal beams ( structures) by a mechanism similar to threedimensional distortion of the twodimensional Tollmien–Schlichting wave at the nonlinear stage of the classical transition in nearwall flows. The effect of the jetexhaustion velocity and acoustic action on jet turbulization is considered.  相似文献

Electrical aspects of aircraft jet engine operation are considered. A phenomenon previously observed experimentally, namely, the disappearance of the engine current and alternating electric signal induced by the engine jet in the afterburner regime, is explained. It is shown that this phenomenon results from the detachment of electrons from negative ions when the gas temperature in the afterburner increases. This leads to an increase in the effective conductivity of the gas. As a result, the engine current circuit is closed on the internal duct walls and engine charging becomes insignificant.A physico-mathematical model of the electrical processes in the afterburner is formulated and model problems are solved.  相似文献

Two jet methods for saturating the fluid boundary layer with microbubbles for drag reduction in contrust with gas injection through porous materials are considered. The first method is the gas injection through the slot under a special fluid wall jet. The second method is the saturation of boundary layer by microbubbles via the gas-water mixture injection through the slot. Experimental data, reflecting the skin friction drag reduction on the flat plate and total drag reduction of axisymmetric bodies, are presented. The comparison between a jet methods of gas injection and gas injection through porous materials is made.Nomenclature v free-stream velocity - v j mean velocity of a water through slot - v g mean velocity of a gas through slot - h width of slot for realizing water jet - h 1 width of slot for gas injection - incidence angle - Q volume airflow rate - C Q airflow rate coefficient (v g/v ) - C f skin friction coefficient - v j/v - C f0 C f ifQ=0 andv j=0 - f C f/C f 0 - d diameter of an axisymmetric body - L length of body - C Q 4 · ·Q/d 2 v - C D 4 ·D/1/2v 2 ·d 2 - C Q 4 ·Q/d 2 v - Q j volume flow rate of water jet - C 8 ·Q jvj/d 2 v 2 - 1 fluid density of main flow - 2 fluid density of wall jet - B 1 main stream total pressure - B 2 wall jet total pressure - v 1 main stream velocity - Be (B 2B 1)/1/21 v 1 2 = Bernoulli number - 2 v 2/1 v 1 - p st static pressure - p at atmospheric pressure - p st/p at - D hydrodynamic drag of body  相似文献

A new analytical solution is introduced for the effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection flow and heat transfer about an isothermal vertical wall embedded in Darcy and non-Darcy porous media with uniform free stream velocity. The effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection in both regimes has been analyzed for both the aiding and opposing flows using Gebhart number, Ge x =gx/c p. The governing parameters are Re, Ra, Pe and Ge x . The case of Re=0 corresponds to Darcy mixed convection region and Re/Pe is identified as the mixed convection governing parameter, Ra=0 leading to pure forced convection. A good agreement was found between the numerical and analytical solutions. It was found from the Nusselt number results that viscous dissipation lowers the heat transfer rate in both Darcy and Forchheimer flow regimes for aiding as well as opposing flows.  相似文献

Shearing stresses in shafts with deep longitudinal grooves
Summary The stress functions(, y) of shafts with deep longitudinal grooves may be represented by(, y) =F(x, y) –(, y) whereF(x, y) is the stress function of a cylindrical shaft without grooves and(, y) denotes the potential function of the source-sink system. It is shown that the shearing stresses in rotors of screw-compressors may be obtained in this way.

The behavior of the neutral stability curves is investigated for various values of the particle relaxation time and mass concentration 0 100 and 0 f 0.1. It is shown that as increases from zero the flow is at first destabilized and then at >6 becomes stable, while at >40 the stabilizing effect of the dispersed phase grows weaker. It is found that there is a certain interval 10< <40 on which the flow is most stable.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 46–53, January–February, 1986.  相似文献

A mathematical model of mechanics of a twovelocity twotemperature mixture of gases is developed. Based on this model, evolution of the mixing layer of two gases with different densities under the action of shock and compression waves is considered by methods of mathematical simulation in the onedimensional unsteady approximation. In the asymptotic approximation of the full model, a solution of an initialboundary problem is obtained, which describes the formation of a diffusion layer between two gases. Problems of interaction of shock and compression waves with the diffusion layer are solved numerically in the full formulation. It is shown that the layer is compressed as the shock wave traverses it; the magnitude of compression depends on shockwave intensity. As the shock wave passes from the heavy gas to the light gas, the mixing layer becomes overcompressed and expands after shockwave transition. The wave pattern of the flow is described in detail. The calculated evolution of the mixinglayer width is in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

We are concerned with the coerciveness of the strain energy E(u) (in linear elasticity) associated with a displacement vector u on the Sobolev space H1 () or its subspaces, a domain in n representing an isotropic elastic body—certain specific cases are called Korn's inequalities. Sufficient (and necessary) conditions on the Lamé moduli for E(·) to be coercive (or uniformly positive) on such spaces are given, and the associated best possible constants are obtained for some cases.  相似文献

Experimental evidence is presented to show that when cross-linked natural rubber samples are heated in air whilst subject to a pure shear strain and subsequently freed of all forces the new force-free or set state is not related to the original force-free state by a pure shear. During a pure shear linear elements along one of the principal directions of strain remain unchanged in length; it is shown that these elements undergo an increase in length as a result of the recovery after heating. The results are compared with the predictions of the two-network theory of permanent set propounded by previous workers.

The dynamics of an analytic reversible vector field (X,) is studied in with one real parameter close to 0; X=0 is a fixed point. The differential Dx (0,0) generates an oscillatory dynamics with a frequency of order 1—due to two simple, opposite eigenvalues lying on the imaginary axis—and it also generates a slow dynamics which changes from a hyperbolic type—eigenvalues are —to an elliptic type—eigenvalues are —as passes trough 0. The existence of reversible homoclinic connections to periodic orbits is known for such vector fields. In this paper we study a particular subclass of such vector fields, obtained by small reversible perturbations of the normal form. We give an explicit condition on the perturbation, generically satisfied, which prevents the existence of a homoclinic connections to 0 for the perturbed system. The normal form system of any order admits a reversible homoclinic connection to 0, which then does not survive under perturbation of higher order. It will be seen that normal form essentially decouples the hyperbolic and elliptic part of the linearization to any chosen algebraic order. However, this decoupling does not persist arbitrary reversible perturbation, which finally causes the appearance of small amplitude oscillations.  相似文献

In the hypersonic thin shock layer approximation for a small ratio k of the densities before and after the normal shock wave the solution of [1] for the vicinity of the stagnation point of a smooth blunt body is extended to the case of nonuniform outer flow. It is shown that the effect of this nonuniformity can be taken into account with the aid of the effective shock wave radius of curvature R*, whose introduction makes it possible to reduce to universal relations the data for different nonuniform outer flows with practically the same similarity criterion k. The results of the study are compared with numerical calculations of highly underexpanded jet flow past a sphere.Notations x, y a curvilinear coordinate system with axes directed respectively along and normal to the body surface with origin at the forward stagnation point - R radius of curvature of the meridional plane of the body surface - uV, vV., , p V 2 respectively the velocity projections on the x, y axes, density, and pressure - and V freestream density and velocity The indices =0 and=1 apply to plane and axisymmetric flows Izv. In this paper we develop the averaged form of the Stokes equations in terms of weighting functions. The analysis clearly indicates at what point one must choose a media-specific weighting function in order to achieve spatially smoothed transport equations. The form of the weighting function that produces the cellular average is derived, and some important geometrical theorems are presented.Roman Letters A interfacial area of the- interface associated with the local closure problem, m2 - A e area of entrances and exits for the-phase contained within the averaging system, m2 - A p surface area of a particle, m2 - d p 6V p/Ap, effective particle diameter, m - g gravity vector, m/s2 - I unit tensor - K m permeability tensor for the weighted average form of Darcy's law, m2 - L general characteristic length for volume averaged quantities, m - L p general characteristic length for volume averaged pressure, m - L characteristic length for the porosity, m - L v characteristic length for the volume averaged velocity, m - l characteristic length (pore scale) for the-phase - l i i=1, 2, 3 lattice vectors, m - (y) weighting function - m(–y) (y), convolution product weighting function - v special weighting function associated with the traditional averaging volume - m v special convolution product weighting function associated with the traditional averaging volume - m g general convolution product weighting function - m V unit cell convolution product weighting function - m C special convolution product weighting function for ordered media which produces the cellular average - m D special convolution product weighting function for disordered media - m M master convolution product weighting function for ordered and disordered media - n unit normal vector pointing from the-phase toward the-phase - p pressure in the-phase, N/m2 - pm superficial weighted average pressure, N/m2 - p m intrinsic weighted average pressure, N/m2 - p traditional intrinsic volume averaged pressure, N/m2 - p p p m , spatial deviation pressure, N/m2 - r 0 radius of a spherical averaging volume, m - r m support of the convolution product weighting function, m - r position vector, m - r position vector locating points in the-phase, m - V averaging volume, m3 - V volume of the-phase contained in the averaging volume, m3 - V cell volume of a unit cell, m3 - V velocity vector in the-phase, m/s - vm superficial weighted average velocity, m/s - v m intrinsic weighted average velocity, m/s - V volume of the-phase contained in the averaging volume, m3 - V p volume of a particle, m3 - v traditional superficial volume averaged velocity, m/s - v v p m spatial deviation velocity, m/s - x position vector locating the centroid of the averaging volume or the convolution product weighting function, m - y position vector relative to the centroid, m - y position vector locating points in the-phase relative to the centroid, m Greek Letters indicator function for the-phase - Dirac distribution associated with the- interface - V /V, volume average porosity - m m * . weighted average porosity - mass density of the-phase, kg/m3 - viscosity of the-phase, Ns/m2 - V /V, volume fraction of the-phase  相似文献

An experimental study was done to quantify the effects of a variety of background particulates on the delayed laminar-turbulent transition of a thermally stabilized boundary layer in water. A Laser-Doppler Velocimeter system was used to measure the location of boundary layer transition on a 50 mm diameter, 9:1 fineness ratio ellipsoid. The ellipsoid had a 0.15 m RMS surface finish. Boundary layer transition locations were determined for length Reynolds numbers ranging from 3.0 × 106 to 7.5 × 106. The ellipsoid was tested in three different heating conditions in water seeded with particles of four distinct size ranges. For each level of boundary layer heating, measurements of transition were made for clean water and subsequently, water seeded with 12.5 m, 38.9 m, 85.5 m and 123.2 m particles, alternately. The three surface heating conditions tested were no heating, T = 10°C and T = 15°C where T is the difference between the inlet model heating water temperature, T i, and free stream water temperature, T . The effects of particle concentration were studied for 85.5 m and 123.2 m particulates. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. The 12.5 m and 38.9 m particles has no measurable effect on transition for any of the test conditions. However, transition was significantly affected by the 85.5 m and 123.2 m particles. Above a length Reynolds number of 4 × 106 the boundary layer transition location moved forward on the body due to the effect of the 85.5 m particles for all heating conditions. The largest percentage changes in transition location from clean water, were observed for 85.5 m particles seeded water.Transition measurements made with varied concentrations of background particulates indicated that the effect of the 85.5 m particles on the transition of the model reached a plateau between 2.65 particulates/ml concentration and 4.2 particles/ml. Measurements made with 123.3 m particles at concentrations up to 0.3 part/ml indicated no similar plateau.  相似文献

Since the temperature is not an additive function, the traditional thermodynamic point of view suggests that the volume integral of the temperature has no precise physical meaning. This observation conflicts with the customary analysis of non-isothermal catalytic reactors, heat pipes, driers, geothermal processes, etc., in which the volume averaged temperature plays a crucial role. In this paper we identify the thermodynamic significance of the volume averaged temperature in terms of a simple two-phase heat transfer process. Given the internal energy as a function of the point temperature and the density
we show that the volume averaged internal energy is represented by e = F(T , )when e is a linear function of T and , or when the traditional length-scale constraints associated with the method of volume averaging are satisfied. When these conditions are not met, higher order terms involving the temperature gradient and the density gradient appear in the representation for e .  相似文献

In the first part of our paper, we have extended the concepts of the classical convolution and the convolution scalar product given by I. Hlaváck and presented the concepts of the convolution vector and the convolution vector scalar product, which enable us to extend the initial value as well as the initial-boundary value problems for the equation with the operator coefficients to those for the system of equations with the operator coefficients. In the second part of this paper, based on the concepts of the convolution vector and the convolution vector scalar product, two fundamental types of reciprocal theorems of the non-local micropolar linear elastodynamics for inhomogeneous and anisotropic solids are derived. In the third part of this paper, based on the concepts and results in the first and second parts as well as the Lagrange multiplies method which is presented by W. Z. Chien, four main types of variational principles are given for the nonlocal micropolar linear elastodynamics for inhomogeneous and anisotropic solids. These are the counterparts of the variational principles of Hu-Washizu type, Hellinger-Reissner type and Gurtin type in classical elasticity as well as Hlaváck type and Iesan type in local micropolar and nonlocal elasticity. Finally, we have proved the equivalence of the last two main variational principles which are given in this paper.  相似文献

A study is made of the steady flow over a horizontal plane of a heavy inviscid incompressible liquid which flows through the side surface of a circular cylinder which rises above the plane to height h and has a base radius ofa. The motion of the liquid is assumed to be symmetric with respect to the axis of the cylinder; the pressure p is constant (equal to the atmospheric pressure) on the free surface of the liquid. Fora/h = 1, this problem can be regarded as a problem of perturbation of the flow from a flat source by a free surface. Investigation showed that this perturbation problem is essentially nonlinear, and a solution of it in the complete region occupied by the liquid can be obtained only in variables of the boundary layer type. The problem admits linearization under the additional assumption that the parameter = Q2/(82ga3) is small; here, Q is the constant volume flow rate of the liquid per unit height of the cylinder, and g is the acceleration of free fall. For the case 1, 1 the problem is solved by the method of integral transformations. A noteworthy feature of the solution is the slow damping of the perturbations of the velocity with the depth (inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the free surface), in contrast to the similar problem of the wave motions of a heavy liquid, for which the velocity perturbations are damped exponentially.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 3–7, March–April, 1984.  相似文献

The structure of a supersonic underexpanded lowpressureratio jet exhausted from a nozzle with variable geometry of the entrance section is experimentally studied. Total pressure distributions in the initial cross sections of the examined jets are obtained. Based on these distributions, the coordinates of the mixingregion boundaries are found. The curvature of streamlines in the mixing layer within the first two barrels of an underexpanded jet is determined. A dependence generalizing the measurement results on the curvature of streamlines in the first barrel of a weakly underexpanded jet is obtained in dimensionless coordinates.  相似文献

In marine geophysical seismological prospecting extensive use is made of towed receiving systems consisting of extended flexible cylinders containing acoustic sensors over which the water flows in the longitudinal direction. The boundary layer pressure fluctuations on the cylinder surface are picked up by the sensors as hydrodynamic noise. This paper is concerned with the study of the energy and spacetime characteristics of the pressure fluctuations in the turbulent boundary layer on an extended flexible cylinder in a longitudinal flow. The pressure fluctuations on the cylinder surface have been investigated experimentally for ReX=(2–4)·107, a dimensionless diameter of the pressure fluctuation sensors d p + =dpu*/=500, where dp is the sensor diameter, u* the dynamic viscosity, and the viscosity coefficient, and frequencies 0.02311.259 (=*/U). The spectral and correlation characteristics of the pressure fluctuations on the surface of the flexible cylinder are found to differ from the corresponding characteristics for a rigid cylinder [1–4].Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i aza, No, 5, pp. 49–54, September–October, 1989.  相似文献
