Error estimates for DGFE solutions are well investigated if one assumes that the exact solution is sufficiently regular. In this article, we consider a Dirichlet and a mixed boundary value problem for a linear elliptic equation in a polygon. It is well known that the first derivatives of the solutions develop singularities near reentrant corner points or points where the boundary conditions change. On the basis of the regularity results formulated in Sobolev–Slobodetskii spaces and weighted spaces of Kondratiev type, we prove error estimates of higher order for DGFE solutions using a suitable graded mesh refinement near boundary singular points. The main tools are as follows: regularity investigation for the exact solution relying on general results for elliptic boundary value problems, error analysis for the interpolation in Sobolev–Slobodetskii spaces, and error estimates for DGFE solutions on special graded refined meshes combined with estimates in weighted Sobolev spaces. Our main result is that there exist a local grading of the mesh and a piecewise interpolation by polynoms of higher degree such that we will get the same order O (hα) of approximation as in the smooth case. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we study a three-point boundary value problem with an integral condition for a class of parabolic equation with Bessel operator. The existence and uniqueness of the solution in functional weighted Sobolev space are proved. The proof is based on two sided a priori estimates and the density of the range of the operator generated by the considered problem.  相似文献

We consider a mixed problem with the Dirichlet boundary conditions and integral conditions for the biharmonic equation. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a generalized solution in the weighted Sobolev space W 22. We show that the problem can be viewed as a generalization of the Dirichlet problem.  相似文献

The solution of a stationary boundary value problem on a domain with conical points has singularities near these points. Here we first consider existence results in appropriate weighted Sobolev spaces in order to incorporate the singularities. We secondly use these results to prove existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions of non-autonomous second order evolution equations on such domains.  相似文献

A hypersingular boundary integral equation of the first kind on an open surface piece Γ is solved approximately using the Galerkin method. As boundary elements on rectangles we use continuous, piecewise bilinear functions which vanish on the boundary of Γ. We show how to compensate for the effect of the edge and corner singularities of the true solution of the integral equation by using an appropriately graded mesh and obtain the same convergence rate as for the case of a smooth solution. We also derive asymptotic error estimates in lower-order Sobolev norms via the Aubin–Nitsche trick. Numerical experiments for the Galerkin method with piecewise linear functions on triangles demonstrate the effect of graded meshes and show experimental rates of convergence which underline the theoretical results.  相似文献

This paper gives a thorough analysis of the local refinement method on plane polygonal domains with special attention to the treatment of reentrant corner. Convergence rates of the finite element method under various norms are derived via a systematic treatment of the interpolation theory in weighted Sobolev spaces. It is proved that by refining the mesh suitably, the finite element approximations for problems with singularities achieve the same convergence rates as those for smooth solutions.  相似文献

We consider the regularity of a mixed boundary value problem for the Laplace operator on a polyhedral domain, where Ventcel boundary conditions are imposed on one face of the polyhedron and Dirichlet boundary conditions are imposed on the complement of that face in the boundary. We establish improved regularity estimates for the trace of the variational solution on the Ventcel face and use them to derive a decomposition of the solution into a regular and a singular part that belongs to suitable weighted Sobolev spaces. This decomposition, in turn, via interpolation estimates both in the interior as well as on the Ventcel face, allows us to perform an a priori error analysis for the finite element approximation of the solution on anisotropic graded meshes. Numerical tests support the theoretical analysis. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider initial boundary value problems for a third-order nonlinear pseudoparabolic equation with one space dimension. The boundary condition is given by an integral; the function involved could exhibit singularities, which distinguishes this nonlocal condition from its Dirichlet or Neumann counterparts. By means of appropriate elliptic estimates we are able to seek solutions not only in the weighted spaces but also in the usual Sobolev spaces. The procedure is carried out in a unified way. Our results characterize a regularity of the pseudoparabolic operator that is different from that of the parabolic operator.  相似文献

A quadrature Galerkin scheme with the Bogner–Fox–Schmit element for a biharmonic problem on a rectangular polygon is analyzed for existence, uniqueness, and convergence of the discrete solution. It is known that a product Gaussian quadrature with at least three‐points is required to guarantee optimal order convergence in Sobolev norms. In this article, optimal order error estimates are proved for a scheme based on the product two‐point Gaussian quadrature by establishing a relation with an underdetermined orthogonal spline collocation scheme. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In weighted C-spaces, we establish the solvability of a boundary-value problem for a semilinear elliptic equation of order 2m in a bounded domain with generalized functions given on its boundary, strong power singularities at some points of the boundary, and finite orders of singularities on the entire boundary. The behavior of the solution near the boundary of the domain is analyzed.  相似文献

We consider a class of elliptic boundary value problems with degenerating coefficients for which we construct FEM schemes with optimal convergence on the basis of multiplicative extraction of the singularity. For a scale of weighted Sobolev norms including the energy norm of the differential operator, we prove a posteriori estimates for the error of the discrete solutions.  相似文献

We prove an optimal‐order error estimate in a weighted energy norm for finite volume method for two‐dimensional time‐dependent advection–diffusion equations on a uniform space‐time partition of the domain. The generic constants in the estimates depend only on certain norms of the true solution but not on the scaling parameter. These estimates, combined with a priori stability estimates of the governing partial differential equations with full regularity, yield a uniform estimate of the finite volume method, in which the generic constants depend only on the Sobolev norms of the initial and right side data but not on the scaling parameter. We use the interpolation of spaces and stability estimates to derive a uniform estimate for problems with minimal or intermediate regularity, where the convergence rates are proportional to certain Besov norms of the initial and right‐hand side data. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We study some boundary value problems on two-dimensional polygonal topological networks, where on each face, the considered operator is the biharmonic operator. The transmission conditions we impose along the edges are inspired by the models introduced by H. Le Dret [13] and Destuynder and Nevers [9]. The boundary conditions on the external edges are the classical ones. This class of problem contains the boundary value problems for the biharmonic equation in a plane polygon (see [3, 11, 12, 18]). Conforming to the classical results cited above, we prove that the weak solution of our problem admits a decomposition into a regular part and a singular part, the latter being a linear combination of singular functions depending on the domain and the considered boundary value problem. Finally, we give the exact formula for the coefficients of these singularities.  相似文献

We study the initial boundary value problem resulting from the linearization of the equations of ideal incompressible magnetohydrodynamics and the jump conditions on the hypersurface of tangential discontinuity (current–vortex sheet) about an unsteady piecewise smooth solution. Under some assumptions on the unperturbed flow, we prove an energy a priori estimate for the linearized problem. Since the so‐called loss of derivatives in the normal direction to the boundary takes place even for the constant coefficients linearized problem, for the variable coefficients problem and non‐planar current–vortex sheets the natural functional setting is provided by the anisotropic weighted Sobolev space W21,σ. The result of this paper is a necessary step to prove the local in time existence of solutions of the original non‐linear free boundary value problem. The uniqueness of the regular solution of this problem follows already from the a priori estimate we obtain for the linearized problem. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper consists of two parts in which we propose two types of pure dual finite element (FE) models of a three-dimensional (3D) axisymmetric elliptic problem with mixed boundary conditions. Using cylindrical coordinates and weighted Sobolev spaces, a dual 3D problem is transformed into a 2D problem and finite element spaces of divergence-free vector functions are constructed with the help of a stream function. In part I of the paper a priori and a posteriori error estimates are derived for the first type of the FE model. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the structure of the singular and regular parts of the solution of time‐harmonic Maxwell's equations in polygonal plane domains and their effective numerical treatment. The asymptotic behaviour of the solution near corner points of the domain is studied by means of discrete Fourier transformation and it is proved that the solution of the boundary value problem does not belong locally to H2 when the boundary of the domain has non‐acute angles. A splitting of the solution into a regular part belonging to the space H2, and an explicitly described singular part is presented. For the numerical treatment of the boundary value problem, we propose a finite element discretization which combines local mesh grading and the singular field methods and derive a priori error estimates that show optimal convergence as known for the classical finite element method for problems with regular solutions. One investigates general elliptic boundary-value problems in a domain DRn with isolated singularities of the boundary. A common property of the considered singular points is the fact that in their neighborhoods the complement to the domain is thin. For the singular pointO this means that the central projection of the set onto the sphere shrinks to a point as One proves theorems on the normal solvability in Sobolev spaces with weighted norms, one obtains coercive estimates of the solutions, one investigates the properties of the solutions in dependence on the properties of the right-hand sides.Translated from Problemy Matematicheskogo Analiza, No. 9, pp. 105–148, 1984.  相似文献

We consider a quasilinear parabolic boundary value problem, the elliptic part of which degenerates near the boundary. In order to solve this problem, we approximate it by a system of linear degenerate elliptic boundary value problems by means of semidiscretization with respect to time. We use the theory of degenerate elliptic operators and weighted Sobolev spaces to find a priori estimates for the solutions of the approximating problems. These solutions converge to a local solution, if the step size of the time-discretization goes to zero. It is worth pointing out that we do not require any growth conditions on the nonlinear coefficients and right-hand side, since we lire able to prove L∞ - estimates.  相似文献

The solution of the three-dimensional Dirichlet problem for the Laplacian in a polyhedral domain has Special singular forms at corners and edges. The main result of this paper is a “tensor-product” decomposition of those singular forms along the edges. Such a decomposition with both edge singularities, additional corner singularities and a smoother remainder refines known regularity results for the solution where either the edge singularities are of non-tensor product form or the remainder term belongs to an anisotropic Sobolev space for data given in an isotropic Sobolev space.  相似文献
