In this paper, we present a direct B‐spline spectral collocation method to approximate the solutions of fractional optimal control problems with inequality constraints. We use the location of the maximum of B‐spline functions as collocation points, which leads to sparse and nonsingular matrix B whose entries are the values of B‐spline functions at the collocation points. In this method, both the control and Caputo fractional derivative of the state are approximated by B‐spline functions. The fractional integral of these functions is computed by the Cox‐de Boor recursion formula. The convergence of the method is investigated. Several numerical examples are considered to indicate the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

In this work, numerical solution of nonlinear modified Burgers equation is obtained using an improvised collocation technique with cubic B‐spline as basis functions. In this technique, cubic B‐splines are forced to satisfy the interpolatory condition along with some specific end conditions. Crank–Nicolson scheme is used for temporal domain and improvised cubic B‐spline collocation method is used for spatial domain discretization. Quasilinearization process is followed to tackle the nonlinear term in the equation. Convergence of the technique is established to be of order O(h4 + Δt2) . Stability of the technique is examined using von‐Neumann analysis. L2 and L error norms are calculated and are compared with those available in existing works. Results are found to be better and the technique is computationally efficient, which is shown by calculating CPU time.  相似文献

The main objective of the paper is to find the approximate solution of fractional integro partial differential equation with a weakly singular kernel. Integro partial differential equation (IPDE) appears in the study of viscoelastic phenomena. Cubic B‐spline collocation method is employed for fractional IPDE. The developed scheme for finding the solution of the considered problem is based on finite difference method and collocation method. Caputo fractional derivative is used for time fractional derivative of order α, . The given problem is discretized in both time and space directions. Backward Euler formula is used for temporal discretization. Collocation method is used for spatial discretization. The developed scheme is proved to be stable and convergent with respect to time. Approximate solutions are examined to check the precision and effectiveness of the presented method.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 1565–1581, 2017  相似文献

The cubic B‐spline collocation scheme is implemented to find numerical solution of the generalized Burger's–Huxley equation. The scheme is based on the finite‐difference formulation for time integration and cubic B‐spline functions for space integration. Convergence of the scheme is discussed through standard convergence analysis. The proposed scheme is of second‐order convergent. The accuracy of the proposed method is demonstrated by four test problems. The numerical results are found to be in good agreement with the exact solutions. Results are compared with other results given in literature. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2013  相似文献

A H1‐Galerkin mixed finite element method is applied to the Kuramoto–Sivashinsky equation by using a splitting technique, which results in a coupled system. The method described in this article may also be considered as a Petrov–Galerkin method with cubic spline space as trial space and piecewise linear space as test space, since the second derivative of a cubic spline is a linear spline. Optimal‐order error estimates are obtained without any restriction on the mesh for both semi‐discrete and fully discrete schemes. The advantage of this method over that presented in Manickam et al., Comput. Math. Appl. vol. 35(6) (1998) pp. 5–25; for the same problem is that the size (i.e., (n + 1) × (n + 1)) of each resulting linear system is less than half of the size of the linear system of the earlier method, where n is the number of subintervals in the partition. Further, there is a requirement of less regularity on exact solution in this method. The results are validated with numerical examples. Finally, instability behavior of the solution is numerically captured with this method.  相似文献

In this paper, a parameter‐uniform numerical scheme for the solution of singularly perturbed parabolic convection–diffusion problems with a delay in time defined on a rectangular domain is suggested. The presence of the small diffusion parameter ? leads to a parabolic right boundary layer. A collocation method consisting of cubic B ‐spline basis functions on an appropriate piecewise‐uniform mesh is used to discretize the system of ordinary differential equations obtained by using Rothe's method on an equidistant mesh in the temporal direction. The parameter‐uniform convergence of the method is shown by establishing the theoretical error bounds. The numerical results of the test problems validate the theoretical error bounds.  相似文献

This paper presents an efficient numerical technique for solving a class of time-fractional diffusion equation. The time-fractional derivative is described in the Caputo form. The L1 scheme is used for discretization of Caputo fractional derivative and a collocation approach based on sextic B-spline basis function is employed for discretization of space variable. The unconditional stability of the fully-discrete scheme is analyzed. Two numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the accuracy and applicability of our scheme. The proposed scheme is shown to be sixth order accuracy with respect to space variable and (2 − α)-th order accuracy with respect to time variable, where α is the order of temporal fractional derivative. The numerical results obtained are compared with other existing numerical methods to justify the advantage of present method. The CPU time for the proposed scheme is provided.  相似文献

In this work, we present numerical analysis for nonlinear multi‐term time fractional differential equation which involve Caputo‐type fractional derivatives for . The proposed method is based on utilization of fractional B‐spline basics in collocation method. The scheme can be readily obtained efficient and quite accurate with less computational work numerical result. The proposal approach transform nonlinear multi‐term time fractional differential equation into a suitable linear system of algebraic equations which can be solved by a suitable numerical method. The numerical experiments will be verify to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method for solving one‐ and two‐dimensional multi‐term time fractional differential equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a two‐dimensional multi‐term time‐fractional Oldroyd‐B equation on a rectangular domain. Its analytical solution is obtained by the method of separation of variables. We employ the finite difference method with a discretization of the Caputo time‐fractional derivative to obtain an implicit difference approximation for the equation. Stability and convergence of the approximation scheme are established in the L ‐norm. Two examples are given to illustrate the theoretical analysis and analytical solution. The results indicate that the present numerical method is effective for this general two‐dimensional multi‐term time‐fractional Oldroyd‐B model.  相似文献

In this article, we develop a parameter uniform numerical method for a class of singularly perturbed parabolic equations with a multiple boundary turning point on a rectangular domain. The coefficient of the first derivative with respect to x is given by the formula a0(x, t)xp, where a0(x, t) ≥ α > 0 and the parameter p ∈ [1,∞) takes the arbitrary value. For small values of the parameter ε, the solution of this particular class of problem exhibits the parabolic boundary layer in a neighborhood of the boundary x = 0 of the domain. We use the implicit Euler method to discretize the temporal variable on uniform mesh and a B‐spline collocation method defined on piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh to discretize the spatial variable. Asymptotic bounds for the derivatives of the solution are established by decomposing the solution into smooth and singular component. These bounds are applied in the convergence analysis of the proposed scheme on Shishkin mesh. The resulting method is boundary layer resolving and has been shown almost second‐order accurate in space and first‐order accurate in time. It is also shown that the proposed method is uniformly convergent with respect to the singular perturbation parameter ε. Some numerical results are given to confirm the predicted theory and comparison of numerical results made with a scheme consisting of a standard upwind finite difference operator on a piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, a fast second‐order accurate difference scheme is proposed for solving the space–time fractional equation. The temporal Caputo derivative is approximated by ?L2 ‐1σ formula which employs the sum‐of‐exponential approximation to the kernel function appeared in Caputo derivative. The second‐order linear spline approximation is applied to the spatial Riemann–Liouville derivative. At each time step, a fast algorithm, the preconditioned conjugate gradient normal residual method with a circulant preconditioner (PCGNR), is used to solve the resulting system that reduces the storage and computational cost significantly. The unique solvability and unconditional convergence of the difference scheme are shown by the discrete energy method. Numerical examples are given to verify numerical accuracy and efficiency of the difference schemes.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the numerical solutions of Bratu‐type and Lane‐Emden–type boundary value problems, which describe various physical phenomena in applied science and technology. We present an optimal collocation method based on quartic B‐spine basis functions to solve such problems. This method is constructed by perturbing the original problem and on a uniform mesh. The method has been tested by four nonlinear examples. In order to show the advantage of the new method, numerical results are compared with those obtained by some of the existing methods, such as normal quartic B‐spline collocation method and the finite difference method (FDM). It has been observed that the order of convergence of the proposed method is six, which is two orders of magnitude larger than the normal quartic B‐spline collocation method. Moreover, our method gives highly accurate results than the FDM.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the numerical treatment of a fourth‐order fractional diffusion‐wave problem. Our proposed method includes the use of parametric quintic spline in the spatial dimension and the weighted shifted Grünwald‐Letnikov approximation of fractional integral. The solvability, stability, and convergence of the numerical scheme are rigorously proved. It is shown that the theoretical convergence order improves those of earlier work. Simulation is further carried out to demonstrate the numerical efficiency of the proposed scheme and to compare with other methods.  相似文献

In this article a numerical technique is presented for the solution of Fokker‐Planck equation. This method uses the cubic B‐spline scaling functions. The method consists of expanding the required approximate solution as the elements of cubic B‐spline scaling function. Using the operational matrix of derivative, the problem will be reduced to a set of algebraic equations. Some numerical examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique. The method is easy to implement and produces very accurate results. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Higher order non‐Fickian diffusion theories involve fourth‐order linear partial differential equations and their solutions. A quintic polynomial spline technique is used for the numerical solutions of fourth‐order partial differential equations with Caputo time fractional derivative on a finite domain. These equations occur in many applications in real life problems such as modeling of plates and thin beams, strain gradient elasticity, and phase separation in binary mixtures, which are basic elements in engineering structures and are of great practical significance to civil, mechanical, and aerospace engineering. The quintic polynomial spline technique is used for space discretization and the time‐stepping is done using a backward Euler method based on the L1 approximation to the Caputo derivative. The stability and convergence analysis are also discussed. The numerical results are given, which demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the numerical method. The numerical results obtained in this article are also compared favorably well with the results of (S. S. Siddiqi and S. Arshed, Int. J. Comput. Math. 92 (2015), 1496–1518). © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 445–466, 2017  相似文献

We formulate and analyze a novel numerical method for solving a time‐fractional Fokker–Planck equation which models an anomalous subdiffusion process. In this method, orthogonal spline collocation is used for the spatial discretization and the time‐stepping is done using a backward Euler method based on the L1 approximation to the Caputo derivative. The stability and convergence of the method are considered, and the theoretical results are supported by numerical examples, which also exhibit superconvergence. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper is devoted to investigate synchronization and antisynchronization of N‐coupled general fractional‐order complex chaotic systems described by a unified mathematical expression with ring connection. By means of the direct design method, the appropriate controllers are designed to transform the fractional‐order error dynamical system into a nonlinear system with antisymmetric structure. Thus, by using the recently established result for the Caputo fractional derivative of a quadratic function and a fractional‐order extension of the Lyapunov direct method, several stability criteria are derived to ensure the occurrence of synchronization and antisynchronization among N‐coupled fractional‐order complex chaotic systems. Moreover, numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design.  相似文献

This article deals with the problem of synchronization of fractional‐order memristor‐based BAM neural networks (FMBNNs) with time‐delay. We investigate the sufficient conditions for adaptive synchronization of FMBNNs with fractional‐order 0 < α < 1. The analysis is based on suitable Lyapunov functional, differential inclusions theory, and master‐slave synchronization setup. We extend the analysis to provide some useful criteria to ensure the finite‐time synchronization of FMBNNs with fractional‐order 1 < α < 2, using Mittag‐Leffler functions, Laplace transform, and linear feedback control techniques. Numerical simulations with two numerical examples are given to validate our theoretical results. Presence of time‐delay and fractional‐order in the model shows interesting dynamics. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Complexity 21: 412–426, 2016  相似文献

In this article, we consider the finite element method (FEM) for two‐dimensional linear time‐fractional Tricomi‐type equations, which is obtained from the standard two‐dimensional linear Tricomi‐type equation by replacing the first‐order time derivative with a fractional derivative (of order α, with 1 <α< 2 ). The method is based on finite element method for space and finite difference method for time. We prove that the method is unconditionally stable, and the error estimate is presented. The comparison of the FEM results with the exact solutions is made, and numerical experiments reveal that the FEM is very effective. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper is dedicated to the Oldroyd‐B model with fractional dissipation (?Δ)ατ for any α > 0. We establish the global smooth solutions to the Oldroyd‐B model in the corotational case with arbitrarily small fractional powers of the Laplacian in two spatial dimensions. Moreover, in the Appendix, we provide some a priori estimates to the Oldroyd‐B model in the critical case, which may be useful and of interest for future improvement. Therefore, our result is closer to the resolution of the well‐known global regularity issue on the critical 2D Oldroyd‐B model. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
