Starting from the phase space path integral, we have derived the Ward identities in canonical formalism for a system with regular and singular Lagrangian. This formulation differs from the traditional discussion based on path integral in configuration space. It is pointed out that the quantum canonical equations for systems with singular Lagrangians are different from the classical ones obtained from Dirac's conjecture, The preliminary applications of Ward identities in phase space to the Yang-Mills theory are given. Some relations among the proper vertices and propagators are deduced,the PCAC, AVV vertices and generalized PCAC expressions are also obtained. We have also pointed out that some authors in their early work had ignored the treatment of the constraints.  相似文献

A method is developed for the prediction of noise from rotors in an axisymmetric duct at rest. The technique combines a previously developed model for noise from disc sources with a boundary integral equation method for scattering from the duct surface. Recent developments in the theory of Gaussian quadrature and generalized elliptic integrals are used to simplify the implementation of the formulation. The sound field of a simplified model ducted rotor is then calculated and its structure examined in the framework of known features of the field around rotating sources. It is found that, as for an open rotor, the sonic radius plays an important role in the structure of the field.  相似文献

We study the formulation of the Feynman path integral through broken line paths in non-relativistic quantum mechanics. This formulation is very familiar to us and well known to be useful. But its rigorous meaning is given little except for special cases. In the present paper, using the ideas in the theory of difference methods and the theory of pseudo-differential operators, we show rigorously for some class of potentials that this formulation is well defined and that this Feynman path integral gives the probability amplitude, i.e., the solution of the Schr?dinger equation. We study longstanding problem of cosmological clock in the context of Brans–Dicke theory of gravitation. We present the Hamiltonian formulation of the theory for a class of spatially homogeneous cosmological models. Then, we show that formulation of the Brans–Dicke theory in the Einstein frame allows how an identification of an appropriate cosmological time variable, as a function of the scalar field in the theory, can be emerged in quantum cosmology. The classical and quantum results are applied to the Friedmann–Robertson–Walker cosmological models.  相似文献

We show that certain vanishing couplings in the Â Ê affine Toda field theories remain vanishing even after higher order corrections are included. This is a requisite property for the lagrangian formulation of the theory. We develop a new perturbative formulation and treat affine Toda field theories as a massless theory with exponential interaction terms. We show that the Dynkin automorphism of the Lie algebra leads to the non-renormalization of the vanishing couplings.  相似文献

It is proved that the physical states of the open-string sector of the ten-dimensional string theory form supersymmetry multiplets. The proof is achieved by first constructing a new formulation of the spectrum generating algebra, and then forming the supersymmetry operator (as well as associated operators) and demonstrating that it transforms as a spinor under Lorentz transformations and has the correct anticommutation relations. The results can be interpreted either in terms of a covariant formulation or in terms of a light-cone gauge formulation. In the former case certain formulas are not completely proved, although they are in the latter. When interpreted in four dimensions (by dimensional reduction) the string theory provides an interacting theory of an infinite number of massive representations of N = 4 supersymmetry involving particles of arbitrarily high spin.  相似文献

A coupled-mode formulation based on complex local modes is developed for tapered and longitudinally varying optical waveguides. Different from the conventional coupled-mode theory that requires integration over the entire spectrum of radiation modes, the new formulation treats the radiation fields via discrete complex modes similarly to the guided modes. Accuracy, convergence, and scope of validity for the solutions of the complex coupled-mode equations are investigated in detail for a typical single-mode waveguide taper. It is demonstrated that the complex coupled-mode theory has overcome the difficulties of the conventional theory in simulation of radiation field effects while preserving the simplicity and intuitiveness of this popular method.  相似文献

A critique of the causla and classical stochastic interpretations of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics is presented. The only way that the classical stochastic formulation can be made compatible with the theory of quantum measurement is to extend the probability measure density for fluctuating paths to the complex domain. In doing so, we obtain the generalized stochiastic formulation in which the methods of classical probability theory can be used to describe the quantum mechanical phenomenon of interfering alternatives. Illustrative examples from quantum theory are used to show the complete compatibility between the traditional and generalized stochastic interpretations of quantum mechanics. We present a formulation for the nonlinear optical response in gapped graphene, where the low-energy single-particle spectrum is modeled by massive Dirac theory. As a representative example of the formulation presented here, we obtain a closed form formula for the third harmonic generation in gapped graphene. It turns out that the covariant form of the low-energy theory gives rise to peculiar logarithmic singularities in the nonlinear optical spectra. The universal functional dependence of the response function on dimensionless quantities indicates that the optical nonlinearity can be largely enhanced by tuning the gap to smaller values.  相似文献

A coupled-mode formulation for an NRD-guide coupler is presented using the singular perturbation technique. The first-order and second-order perturbations are taken into account in the analysis and the coupled-mode equations based on the eigenmodes of each waveguide in isolation are derived. The propagation constants obtained by these equations are compared with those by the exact theory, conventional coupled-mode theory, and improved coupled-mode theory. The numerical results of present formulation are in good agreement with the exact theory and superior to those of the other formulations.  相似文献

Principles of development of the quantum theory of nonlinear processes on the basis of Lagrangian formulation are discussed. It is shown that in the framework of this formulation it is possible to preserve succession from the classical theory and, in particular, use these methods for studies of quantum systems. The quantum dispersion of a nonlinear oscillator excited by an external source and of a parametric generator is calculated. Its role is established in the solution of the problem of stability of oscillations.  相似文献

In physical theories, boundary or initial conditions play the role of selecting special situations which can be described by a theory with its general laws. Cosmology has long been suspected to be different in that its fundamental theory should explain the fact that we can observe only one particular realization. This is not realized, however, in the classical formulation and in its conventional quantization; the situation is even worse due to the singularity problem. In recent years, a new formulation of quantum cosmology has been developed which is based on quantum geometry, a candidate for a theory of quantum gravity. Here, the dynamical law and initial conditions turn out to be linked intimately, in combination with a solution of the singularity problem.  相似文献

The original Feynman-Wheeler perfect absorber theory lead to the Instantaneous Action at a Distance formulation. We observe that this is perfectly meaningful in the light of recent studies pointing to a small but non-zero photon mass. We clarify the role of heat flux in the hydrodynamic balance equations in 2D quantum wells, facilitating the formulation of an Onsager relation within the framework of this theory. We find that the Onsager relation is satisfied within the framework of the 2D hydrodynamic balance equation transport theory at sufficiently high density. The condition of high density is consonant with the requirement of strong electron-electron interactions for the validity of our balance equation formulation.  相似文献

Supergravity admits a geometric formulation in terms of an expanded algebra of functions on ordinary spacetime. This formulation, called graded manifold theory, is equivalent to the usual superspace supergravity constructions but avoids the anticommuting coordinates of superspace. The geometry suggests an operational interpretation of supergravity theory in terms of measurements made by local observers in spacetime.  相似文献

The tetrad theory of gravitation corresponding to the Treder formulation of the weak equivalence principle is incompatible with the customary method for constructing a gauge theory for a tetrad gravitational field. In this formulation, the Lagrangian of the nongravitating mass is a direct covariant generalization of the partially relativistic expression to a Riemannian space-time V4.
