Dynamic NMR spectroscopy and ab initio correlated calculations revealed that the attachment of a spiroadamantane entity at the C-2 position of N-methylpyrrolidine or N-methylpiperidine induces a severe steric crowding around nitrogen, which changes the conformational space of the heterocycle resulting in: (a) the complete destabilization of the N-Me(eq) conformer in spiranic structures; in contrast the N-Me(eq) conformer corresponds to the global minimum in N-methylpyrrolidine or N-methylpiperidine. The spiroadamantane structure raises the energy of the equatorial conformer because of the severe van der Waals repulsion between the N-Me(eq) group and adamantane C-H bonds. (b) The interconversion between the only populated enantiomeric N-Me(ax) conformers ax→[eq]→ax′; the interconversion eq→ax between N-Me(eq) and N-Me(ax) conformers, which are both populated, is observed in N-methylpyrrolidine or N-methylpiperidine. (c) The raising of ring and nitrogen inversion barriers ax→ts by ∼4-6 kcal mol−1. The dynamic NMR study provides evidence that the most important process required for the enantiomerization between the axial N-Me conformers in spiropiperidine 4 and spiropyrrolidine 5 are different, i.e., a nitrogen inversion in 5 (9.10 kcal mol−1) and a ring inversion in 4 (15.2 kcal mol−1). While an enantiomerization interconverts N-Me axial conformers in spiropiperidine 5 and spiropyrrolidine 4, substitution of the pyrrolidine ring of 5 with a C-Me group effects a diastereomerization between two N-Me axial conformers and reduces effectively the nitrogen inversion barrier according to the protonation experiments and the calculations. In general, all the calculations levels used, i.e., the MM3, B3LYP/6-31+G∗∗ and MP2/6-311++G∗∗//B3LYP/6-31+G∗∗, predict correctly the different stability of the local minima; however only MP2/6-311++G∗∗//B3LYP/6-31+G∗∗ was found to be reliable for the calculation of the nitrogen inversion barriers.  相似文献

In terms of the density functional theory using the B3LYP functional, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7-heptaphenylcycloheptatriene was shown to be the most stable in the boat conformation of the cycloheptatriene ring with the H atom in the equatorial position. 1,5-Sigmatropic shifts of the H atom along the seven-membered ring perimeter take place when it is in the axial position through the asymmetric transition state with the barrier ΔE ZPE = 28.7 kcal mol?1. The H atom can attain the axial position upon inversion of the seven-membered ring, which is accompanied by the orthogonal turn of the phenyl group at the sp3-hybridized C atom (ΔE ZPE = 22.6 kcal mol?1). The energy barrier to the circular rearrangement of the H atom (ΔE ZPE = 32.2 kcal mol?1) explains formation of isomers during the high-temperature synthesis of di(p-tolyl)pentaphenylcycloheptatriene. The barrier to the 1,5-sigmatropic shifts of the phenyl group is 19.7 kcal mol?1 higher than that for the competing shifts of the H atom.  相似文献

It has been confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies that Sn(σ-C7H7)Ph3 undergoes either 1,4- or 1,5-shifts of the SnPh3 moiety around the cycloheptatrienyl ring with ΔH3 = 13.8 ± 0.4 kcal mol?1, ΔS3 = ?5.6 ± 1.2 cal mol?1 deg?1, and ΔG3300 = 15.44 ± 0.14 kcal mol?1. Similarly, (σ-5-cyclohepta-1,3-dienyl)triphenyltin undergoes 1,5-shifts with ΔH3 = 12.4 ± 0.6 kcal mol?1, ΔS3 = ?11.2 ± 1.8 cal mol?1 deg?1, and ΔG3300 = 15.76 ± 0.13 kcal mol?1. It is therefore probable that Sn(σ-5-C5H5)R3 and Sn(σ-3-indenyl)R3 do not undergo 1,2-shifts as previously suggested but really undergo 1,5-shifts.  相似文献

Conformational equilibria and nitrogen inversion barriers in some tetrahydro-1,2,5-oxadiazines have been investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy and by chemical equilibration. The conformational free energy differences obtained are: 4-methyl, 1.2±0.2; 6-p-nitrophenyl, 1.4±0.2kcal mole?1. Barriers to inversion of the N atom at position 2 are in the region 14.1–15.6 kcal mole?1. The conformational behaviour of the tetrahydro-1,2,5-oxadiazine ring is shown to be composed of aspects of the behaviour of the tetrahydro-1,2-and 1,3-oxazine rings.  相似文献

Geometry optimizations of the ground states as well as of the transition states for internal rotation and inversion have been performed by the semiempirical MNDO method for dimethyl nitrosamine (1), perfluordimethyl nitrosamine (2), N-nitroso aziridine (3), and N-nitroso azetidine (4). It was found that the potential barrier to internal rotation about the N-N bond is always of lower energy than that to inversion on the nitroso nitrogen. While the ground states tend to adopt structures which enable mesomerism, the lowest transition state is characterized by a pyramidal sp3-hybridized amino nitrogen. In accordance with experimental results the low barriers to rotation of 2 (7.96 kcal mol?1), 3 (3.38 kcal mol?1) and 4 (9.97 kcal mol?1) in comparison with 1 (12.54 kcal mol?1) indicate that in donor-acceptor molecules the transfer of charge can be limited by electronic and stereochemical effects. In particular, the equivalence of the α-methylene hydrogens which was observed in the NMR-spectrum of 3 is due to unhindered rotation and ring inveirsion.  相似文献

The conformational equilibria of 1-phenyl-1-silacyclohexane 1, 3-phenyl-1,3-thiasilacyclohexane 2, 1-methyl-1-phenyl-1-silacyclohexane 3, and 3-methyl-3-phenyl-1,3-thiasilacyclohexane 4 have been studied for the first time by low temperature 13C NMR spectroscopy at 103 K. Predominance of the equatorial conformer of compound 1 (Pheq/Phax=78%:22%) is much less than in its carbon analog, phenylcyclohexane (nearly 100% of Pheq). And in contrast to 1-methyl-1-phenylcyclohexane, the conformers with the equatorial Ph group are predominant for compounds 3 and 4: at 103 K, Pheq/Phax ratios are 63%:37% (3) and 68%:32% (4). As the Si–C bonds are elongated with respect to C–C bonds, the barriers to ring inversion are only between 5.2–6.0 (ax→eq) and 5.4–6.0 (eq→ax) kcal mol?1. Parallel calculations at the DFT and MP2 level of theory (as well as the G2 calculations for compound 1) show qualitative agreement with the experiment. The additivity/nonadditivity of conformational energies of substituents on cyclohexane and silacyclohexane derivatives is analyzed. The geminally disubstituted cyclohexanes containing a phenyl group show large deviations from additivity, whereas in 1-methyl-1-phenyl-1-silacyclohexane and 3-methyl-3-phenyl-1,3-thiasilacyclohexane the effects of the methyl and phenyl groups are almost additive. The reasons for the different conformational preferences in carbocyclic and heterocyclic compounds are analyzed using the homodesmotic reactions approach.  相似文献

The heat of formation of benzophenone oxide, Ph2CO2, was measured using photoacoustic calorimetry. The enthalpy of the reaction Ph2CN2 + O2 → Ph2CO2 + N2 was found to be ?48.0 ±0.8 kcal mol?1 and ΔHf(Ph2CN2) was determined by measuring the reaction enthalpy for Ph2CN2 + EtOH → Ph2CHOEt + N2 (?53.6 ±1.0 kcal mol?1). Taking ΔHf(PhCHOEt) = ?10.6 kcal mol?1 led to ΔHf(Ph2CN2) = 99.2 ± 1.5 kcal mol?1 and hence to ΔHf(Ph2CO2) = 51.1 ± 2.0 kcal mol?1. The results imply that the self-reaction of benzophenone oxide i.e., 2Ph2CO2 → 2Ph2CO + O2 is exothermic by ?76.0 ±4.0 kcal mol?1.  相似文献

The N2H potential energy surface has been examined by ab initio molecular orbital theory using the 6-31G** basis set with correlation energy evaluated by Møller—Plesset perturbation theory to fourth order. The ΔE for N2H → N2 + H is ?14.4 kcal mol?1 and the barrier to dissociation is 10.5 kcal mol?1. Inclusion of zero-point vibrational energies reduces the barrier to 5.8 kcal mol?1.  相似文献

The vibrational spectra of ethyl vinyl ether in both the fluid and solid states have been recorded from 20 to 3500 cm?1. The 33 fundamental modes of vibration have been assigned. Three rotational isomers have been observed and their structures have been determined. The most stable conformer, s-cis/s-trans, is planar and of Cs symmetry. The two less stable rotamers, skew/s-trans and skew/gauche, are non-planar and of Ci molecular symmetry. The barrier to internal rotation of the methyl rotor has been determined for each conformation; these barriers are 3.43 kcal mol?1 (s-cis/s-trans), 3.35 kcal mol?1 (skew/s-trans) and 3.19 kcal mol?1 (skew/gauche). A potential function for each of the two asymmetric internal rotations has been calculated and barriers to conformer interconversion have been determined. From the asymmetric potential function calculations, ΔH, the enthalpy difference between the conformers, has been determined. The s-cis/s-trans conformer is 1.87 kcal mol?1 more stable than the skew/s-trans conformer; the skew/s-trans conformer is more stable than the skew/gauche conformer by 1.10 kcal mol?1. The energetics of conformer interconversion and methyl internal rotation have been described in terms of molecular geometry and non-bonded interactions. These results are compared to those found in other alkyl vinyl and dialkyl ethers.  相似文献

The intramolecular CO-exchange in several dieneiron tricarbonyls with heteroatoms in 1- and/or 4-position is studied by temperature dependent 13C NMR spectroscopy. π, π-Bonded polar dienes show the highest barriers (10–14 kcal mol?1, while the investigated σ,π- and σ,σ-diazadiene chelates have barriers of activation <9 kcal mol?1. This is in agreement with the local C3v-symmetry of the Fe(CO)3 moiety in these complexes.  相似文献

Ten unsymmetrically substituted arylamino-1,3,5-triazines were synthesized and studied by dynamic NMR spectroscopy. The free energies of the hindered rotation ΔG?are in 59–77 kJ mol? 1 range. Using difference-mode NOE NMR experiments, the structures of the major and minor rotation isomers were proved. The DFT B3LYP/6-31G* calculations were performed. The difference between the calculated rotation barriers and the experimental values obtained by line shape analysis is less than 7.6 kJ mol?1. The height of the rotation barrier varies in a 18 kJ mol?1 range depending on the substituents in the triazine ring.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations at the MP2 and CCSD(T) levels of theory have disclosed the conceivable existence of fluorine‐coordinated complexes of HHeF with alkali‐metal ions and molecules M+ (M+=Li+–Cs+), M+–OH2, M+–NH3 (M+=Li+, Na+), and MX (M=Li, Na; X=F, Cl, Br). All these ligands L induce a shortening of the H? He distance and a lengthening of the He? F distance accompanied by consistent blue‐ and redshifts, respectively, of the H? He and He? F stretching modes. These structural effects are qualitatively similar to those predicted for other investigated complexes of the noble gas hydrides HNgY, but are quantitatively more pronounced. For example, the blueshifts of the H? He stretching mode are exceptionally large, ranging between around 750 and 1000 cm?1. The interactions of HHeF with the ligands investigated herein also enhance the (HHe)+F? dipole character and produce large complexation energies of around 20–60 kcal mol?1. Most of the HHeF–L complexes are indeed so stable that the three‐body dissociation of HHeF into H+He+F, exothermic by around 25–30 kcal mol?1, becomes endothermic. This effect is, however, accompanied by a strong decrease in the H? He? F bending barrier. The complexation energies, ΔE, and the bending barriers, E*, are, in particular, related by the inverse relationship E*(kcal mol?1)=6.9exp[?0.041ΔE(kcal mol?1)]. Therefore the HHeF? L complexes, which are definitely stable with respect to H+He+F+L (ΔE≈25–30 kcal mol?1), are predicted to have bending barriers of only 0.5–2 kcal mol?1. Overall, our calculations cast doubt on the conceivable stabilization of HHeF by complexation.  相似文献

Pd-catalyzed double carbomethoxylation of the Diels-Alder adduct of cyclo-pentadiene and maleic anhydride yielded the methyl norbornane-2,3-endo-5, 6-exo-tetracarboxylate ( 4 ) which was transformed in three steps into 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-idenenorbornane ( 1 ). The cycloaddition of tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) to 1 giving the corresponding monoadduct 7 was 364 times faster (toluene, 25°) than the addition of TCNE to 7 yielding the bis-adduct 9 . Similar reactivity trends were observed for the additions of TCNE to the less reactive 2,3,5,6-tetramethylidene-7-oxanorbornane ( 2 ). The following second order rate constants (toluene, 25°) and activation parameters were obtained for: 1 + TCNE → 7 : k1 = (255 + 5) 10?4 mol?1 · s?1, ΔH≠ = (12.2 ± 0.5) kcal/mol, ΔS≠ = (?24.8 ± 1.6) eu.; 7 + TCNE → 9 , k2 = (0.7 ± 0.02) 10?4 mol?1 · s?1, ΔH≠ = (14.1 ± 1.0) kcal/mol, ΔS≠ = ( ?30 ± 3.5) eu.; 2 + TCNE → 8 : k1 = (1.5 ± 0.03) 10?4 mol?1 · s?1, ΔH≠ = (14.8 ± 0.7) kcal/mol, ΔS≠ = (?26.4 ± 2.3) eu.; 8 + TCNE → 10 ; k2 = (0.004 ± 0.0002) 10?4 mol?1 · s?1, ΔH≠ = (17 ± 1.5) kcal/mol, ΔS≠ = (?30 ± 4) eu. The possible origins of the relatively large rate ratios k1/k2 are discussed briefly.  相似文献

A common feature of several classes of intrinsically reactive proteins with diverse biological functions is that they undergo self‐catalyzed reactions initiated by an N→O or N→S acyl shift of a peptide bond adjacent to a serine, threonine, or cysteine residue. In this study, we examine the N→O acyl shift initiated peptide‐bond hydrolysis at the serine residue on a model compound, glycylserine (GlySer), by means of DFT and ab initio methods. In the most favorable rate‐determining transition state, the serine ?COO? group acts as a general base to accept a proton from the attacking ?OH function, which results in oxyoxazolidine ring closure. The calculated activation energy (29.4 kcal mol?1) is in excellent agreement with the experimental value, 29.4 kcal mol?1, determined by 1H NMR measurements. A reaction mechanism for the entire process of GlySer dipeptide hydrolysis is also proposed. In the case of proteins, we found that when no other groups that may act as a general base are available, the N→O acyl shift mechanism might instead involve a water‐assisted proton transfer from the attacking serine ?OH group to the amide oxygen. However, the calculated energy barrier for this process is relatively high (33.6 kcal mol?1), thus indicating that in absence of catalytic factors the peptide bond adjacent to serine is no longer a weak point in the protein backbone. An analogous rearrangement involving the amide N‐protonated form, rather than the principle zwitterion form of GlySer, was also considered as a model for the previously proposed mechanism of sea‐urchin sperm protein, enterokinase, and agrin (SEA) domain autoproteolysis. The calculated activation energy (14.3 kcal mol?1) is significantly lower than the experimental value reported for SEA (≈21 kcal mol?1), but is still in better agreement as compared to earlier theoretical attempts.  相似文献

The structures and inversion barriers of CF3? and SiF3? have been calculated using ab initio SCF theory with several different basis sets and limited CI. The highest occupied molecular orbital of planar SiF3? is shown to have a1′ symmetry, rather than the normally expected a2″ symmetry. The best estimates of the inversion barriers are 119 kcal mol?1 (CF3?) and 82 kcal mol ?1 (SiF3?).  相似文献

The equilibrium geometry of theN,N-dimethylnitramine molecule and changes in the energy and structural parameters due to the internal rotation of the nitro group and the inversion of the N atom in the amino fragment were calculated by the restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF) method and at the second-order Møller-Plesset (MP2) level of perturbation theory with inclusion of electron correlation using the 6–31 G* and 6–31 G** basis sets. The one-dimensional potential functions of these motions calculated at the RHF/6–31 G* level were approximated by a truncated Fourier and power series, respectively. The frequencies of torsional and inversion transitions were determined by solving direct vibrational problems for a non-rigid model,i.e., taking into account the molecular geometry relaxation. The equilibrium conformation of the molecular skeleton ofN,N-dimethylnitramine is nonplanar. Transition states of the internal rotation of the nitro group and inversion of the amine N atom are characterized by pronounced concerted changes in its bond angles and the length of the N?N bond. In the MP2/6–31 G* approximation, the height of the barrier to internal rotation calculated taking into account the difference in the zero-point vibrational energies is equal to 9.7 kcal mol?1. Inversion in the amino fragment is accompanied by a relatively small energy change at the barrier height of ?1.0 kcal mol?1 calculated in the same approximation.  相似文献

In this work, a density function theory (DFT) study is presented for the HNS/HSN isomerization assisted by 1–4 water molecules on the singlet state potential energy surface (PES). Two modes are considered to model the catalytic effect of these water molecules: (i) water molecule(s) participate directly in forming a proton transfer loop with HNS/HSN species, and (ii) water molecules are out of loop (referred to as out‐of‐loop waters) to assist the proton transfer. In the first mode, for the monohydration mechanism, the heat of reaction is 21.55 kcal · mol?1 at the B3LYP/6‐311++G** level. The corresponding forward/backward barrier lowerings are obtained as 24.41/24.32 kcal · mol?1 compared with the no‐water‐assisting isomerization barrier T (65.52/43.87 kcal · mol?1). But when adding one water molecule on the HNS, there is another special proton‐transfer isomerization pathway with a transition state 10T′ in which the water is out of the proton transfer loop. The corresponding forward/backward barriers are 65.89/65.89 kcal · mol?1. Clearly, this process is more difficult to follow than the R–T–P process. For the two‐water‐assisting mechanism, the heat of reaction is 19.61 kcal · mol?1, and the forward/backward barriers are 32.27/12.66 kcal · mol?1, decreased by 33.25/31.21 kcal · mol?1 compared with T. For trihydration and tetrahydration, the forward/backward barriers decrease as 32.00/12.60 (30T) and 37.38/17.26 (40T) kcal · mol?1, and the heat of reaction decreases by 19.39 and 19.23 kcal · mol?1, compared with T, respectively. But, when four water molecules are involved in the reactant loop, the corresponding energy aspects increase compared with those of the trihydration. The forward/backward barriers are increased by 5.38 and 4.66 kcal · mol?1 than the trihydration situation. In the second mode, the outer‐sphere water effect from the other water molecules directly H‐bonded to the loop is considered. When one to three water molecules attach to the looped water in one‐water in‐loop‐assisting proton transfer isomerization, their effects on the three energies are small, and the deviations are not more than 3 kcal · mol?1 compared with the original monohydration‐assisting case. When adding one or two water molecules on the dihydration‐assisting mechanism, and increasing one water molecule on the trihydration, the corresponding energies also are not obviously changed. The results indicate that the forward/backward barriers for the three in‐loop water‐assisting case are the lowest, and the surrounding water molecules (out‐of‐loop) yield only a small effect. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The [2.2.2]hericene ( 6 ), a bicyclo[2.2.2]octane bearing three exocyclic s-cis-butadiene units has been prepared in eight steps from coumalic acid and maleic anhydride. The hexaene 6 adds successively three mol-equiv. of strong dienophiles such as ethylenetetracarbonitrile (TCE) and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) giving the corresponding monoadducts 17 and 20 (k1), bis-adducts 18 and 21 (k2) and tris-adducts 19 and 22 (k3), respectively. The rate constant ratio k1/k2 is small as in the case of the cycloadditions of 2,3,5,6-tetramethylidene-bicyclo [2.2.2]octane ( 3 ) giving the corresponding monoadducts 23 and 27 (k1) and bis-adducts 25 and 29 (k2) with TCE and DMAD, respectively. Constrastingly, the rate constant ratio k2/k3 is relatively large as the rate constant ratio k1/k2 of the Diels-Alder additions for 5,6,7,8-tetramethylidenebicyclo [2.2.2]oct-2-ene ( 4 ) giving the corresponding monoadducts 24 and 28 (k1) and bis-adducts 26 and 30 (k2). The following second-order rate constants (toluene, 25°) and activation parameters were obtained for the TCE additions: 3 +TCE→ 23 : k1 = 0.591±0.012 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH=10.6±0.4 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?24.0±1.4 cal/mol·K (e.u.); 23 +TCE→ 25 : k2=0.034±0.0010 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH = 10.6±0.6 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?29.7±2.0 e.u.; 4 +TCE→ 26 : k1 = 0.172±0.035 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH 11.3±0.8 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?24.0±2.8 e.u.; 24 +TCE→ 26 : k2 = (6.1±0.2)·10?4 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH = 13.0±0.3 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?29.5±0.8 e.u.; 6 +TCE→ 17 : k1 = 0.136±0.002 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH = 11.3±0.2 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?24.5±0.8 e.u.; 17 +TCE→ 18 : k2 = 0.0156±0.0003 mol?1·l·s?1, ΔH = 10.9±0.5 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?30.1 ± 1.5 e.u.; 18 +TCE→ 19 : k3=(5±0.2) · 10?5 mol?1 mol?1 ·l·s?1, ΔH = 15±3 kcal/mol, and ΔS = ?28 ± 8 e.u. The following rate constants were evaluated for the DMAD additions (CD2Cl2, 30°): 6 +DMAD→ 20 : k1 = (10±1)·10?4 mol?1 · l·s?1; 20 +DMAD→ 21 : k2 = (6.5±0.1) · 10?4 mol?1 ·l·?1; 21 +DMAD→ 22 : k3 = (1.0±0.1) · 10?4 mol?1 ·l·s?1. The reactions giving the barrelene derivatives 19, 22, 26 and 30 are slower than those leading to adducts that are not barrelenes. The former are estimated less exothermic than the latter. It is proposed that the Diels-Alder reactivity of exocyclic s-cis-butadienes grafted onto bicycle [2.2.1]heptanes and bicyclo [2.2.2]octanes that are modified by remote substitution of the bicyclic skeletons can be affected by changes inthe exothermicity of the cycloadditions, in agreement with the Dimroth and Bell-Evans-Polanyi principle. Force-field calculations (MMPI 1) of 3, 4, 6 and related exocyclic s-cis-butadienes as a moiety of bicyclo [2.2.2]octane suggested single minimum energy hypersurfaces for these systems (eclipsed conformations, planar dienes). Their flexibility decreases with the degree of unsaturation of the bicyclic skeleton. The effect of an endocyclic double bond is larger than that of an exocyclic diene moiety.  相似文献

At room temperature and below, the proton NMR spectrum of N-(trideuteriomethyl)-2-cyanoaziridine consists of two superimposed ABC patterns assignable to two N-invertomers; a single time-averaged ABC pattern is observed at 158.9°C. The static parameters extracted from the spectra in the temperature range from –40.3 to 23.2°C and from the high-temperature spectrum permit the calculation of the thermodynamic quantities ΔH0 = ?475±20 cal mol?1 (?1.987 ± 0.084 kJ mol?1) and ΔS0 = 0.43±0.08 cal mol?1 K?1 (1.80±0.33 J mol?1 K?1) for the cis ? trans equilibrium. Bandshape analysis of the spectra broadened by non-mutual three-spin exchange in the temperature range from 39.4–137.8°C yields the activation parameters ΔHtc = 17.52±0.18 kcal mol?1 (73.30±0.75 kJ mol?1), ΔStc = ?2.08±0.50 cal mol?1 K?1 (?8.70±2.09 J mol?1 K?1) and ΔGtc (300 K) = 18.14±0.03 kcal mol?1 (75.90±0.13 kJ mol?1) for the transcis isomerization. An attempt is made to rationalize the observed entropy data in terms of the principles of statistical thermodynamics.  相似文献

The infrared spectra of cis-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane and trans-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane have been recorded between 4000 and 200 cm?1 in the polycrystalline solid phase, and 4000 to 80 cm?1 in the gas phase. The Raman spectra of these two compounds in the gaseous and liquid phases were also recorded between 3100 and 10 cm?1. An assignment of the thirty-nine fundamental vibrations for both cis- and trans-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane is proposed, and comparisons are made with the vibrations of other similar molecules. Additionally, ten torsional transitions were observed in the far infrared and Raman spectra of cis-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane, and four transitions were observed in the spectra of the trans compound. From these spectral data, torsional barriers were determined. The effective barriers to methyl torsion are 2.92 kcal mol?1 (12.20 kJ mol?1) for cis-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane and 2.61 kcal mol?1 (11.14 kJ mol?1) for trans-1,2-dimethylcyclopronane.  相似文献
