Abstract

The reaction between titanium(IV) and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid in aqueous media results in an intensely colored complex which is stable for at least 8h. It allows the spectrophotometric determination of titanium in silicate rocks. The proposed method, in pH 4.0–6.0, shows a molar absorptivity of 1.43.104 L.mole?1.cm?1 at 380 nm. Beer's Law is obeyed up to 3.0 μg/mL of titanium(IV). The interference of iron(III) can be eliminated by reduction to iron(II) with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The method was applied to the determination of titanium in various standard rocks and the results indicated that the accuracy and precision are satisfatory.  相似文献

Abstract

In the present communication a simple and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of titanium is described. The method is based on the reaction of Ti(IV) with a newly synthesized reagent, 6-(4-nitrophenylazo)-3,4,5-trihydroxy benzoic acid (NATHB), in ethanol medium at pH 3.2 to 4.2. The complex exhibits an absorption maximum at 495 nm and Beer's law is valid over the range of 0.04 – 1.00 μg.ml?1 Ti. The molar absorptivity is 3.48 × 104 dm3.mole?1. cm?1. Most of the foreign metal ions and anions do not produce any colorations with NATHB at selected conditions. Based on these results, a simple and direct spectrophotometric method with high selectivity and sensitivity was proposed. The method has been successfully applied for the determination of titanium in 5 soil and 3 standard geochemical samples.  相似文献

Abstract

The synthesis, spectral characteristics and analytical applications of anisaldehyde-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (APT) are described. A simple, rapid, selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of platinum was developed based on the colour reaction between platinum (IV) and anisaldehyde-4-phenyl-3-thio-semicarbazone (APT) in the pH range 1.7 - 3.0. The yellow coloured species has an absorption maximum at 360 nm. The complexation is complete within 1 min. A five-fold excess of the reagent is required for complete complex formation. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range 0.1 -20 ppm of Pt(IV). The mtilar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are 1.58 × 104 l. mol?1 cm?1 and 0.0123 ug of Pt(IV) cm?2, respectively. The effects of pH, time concentration of reagent, order of addition of reagents and the interference from various ions were investigated. The method has been employed for the determination of platinum in synthetic mixtures whose composition correspond to some alloys.  相似文献

Abstract

A novel spectrophotometric method for the determination of titanium(IV) by using a new reagent, water extract of slippery elm leaf is developed. In 0.05 M hydrochloric acid, titanium(IV) reacts with this reagent to form a yellow product. The formed product shows maximum absorbance at 415 nm with a molar absorptivity value of 0.68×104 l mol–1 cm–1 and the method was linear in the 0.2–6 µg ml?1 concentration range. The detection limit value was found to be 0.0131 µg ml?1. The proposed method was simple, low cost, selective, and sensitive. It was applied to the analytic samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Abstract

Hafnium(IV) reacts with 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol in the pH range 3.3–11.0 to yield a sparingly soluble red-coloured chelate that can be dissolved with Triton X-100. Effect of initial pH of metal ion and order of addition of reagents was studied in detail. The 1:3 complex adheres to Beer's law over the concentration range 0.02–1.12 μg/ml of Hf(IV), has a molar absorptivity 1.33x105 1 mol?1cm?1, Sandell sensitivity 1.3 ng cm?2, formation constant (log K) 11.94 and the method had a relative standard deviation of ± 1.5%. Effect of 60 diverse ions on the determination of hafnium(IV) was studied. This fairly selective method is the most sensitive so far reported for the spectrophotometric determination of hafnium(IV).  相似文献

A selective extraction–spectrophotometric method has been developed for determination of selenium(IV) using O-methoxyphenyl thiourea (OMePT) as a chelating agent. The basis of the proposed method is the spectrophotometric determination of selenium(IV)–OMePT complex obtained after extraction of selenium(IV) from 3.5 M hydrochloric acid media using OMePT in chloroform solvent. The complex shows maximum absorbance at 350 nm against the reagent blank. The Beer’s law was obeyed over the concentration range 5–60 µg mL?1 of selenium(IV). The optimum concentration range was 20–50 µg mL?1 as evaluated from Ringbom’s plot. The molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity of the selenium(IV)–OMePT complex in chloroform were 3.312 × 102 L mol?1cm?1 and 0.2384 µg cm?2, respectively. The composition of selenium(IV)–OMePT complex was 1:2 established from slope ratio method, mole ratio method and Job’s continuous variation method. The complex was stable for more than 72 h. The interfering effect of various foreign ions was studied and suitable masking agents were used wherever necessary to enhance the selectivity of the developed method. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of selenium(IV) from real samples, viz. pharmaceutical formulations, shampoo, vegetable sample, synthetic mixtures and environmental samples. Repetition of the method was checked by finding the relative standard deviation (RSD) for 10 determinations which was 0.35%.  相似文献

Abstract

A highly sensitive spectrophotometric method for determination of palladium by the new chromogenic reagent (BPT) has been developed. In the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTMAB), palladium reacts with BPT to form a stable yellow complex in HAc-NaAc buffer solution of pH 4.6-5.6 at 294.4 nm with a molar absorptivity of 2.46 x 105 l mol?1 cm?1. The method is simple, rapid and sensitive. Trace amounts of palladium in mineral and catalyst samples have been satisfactorily determined by the method.  相似文献

The distribution equilibria of 3-phenyl-3-methyl-2-mercaptopropenoic acid (PhMMP) and the titanium(IV)-PhMMP complex have been studied. An extraction-photometric method for the determination of microamounts of titanium has been developed. We have investigated the influence of pH, the reagent, and the presence of electrolytes and masking agents in the aqueous phase on the equilibrium. From the slope analysis of the distribution curves the composition of the extracted species has been found to be Ti(OH)2(HR)2. The complex is extracted quantitatively. Beer's Law is followed over the range 0.09–3.74 μg ml?1 of titanium(IV), the molar absorptivity is 1.65 × 104 liters mol?1 cm?1, and the Sandell sensitivity is 2.8 ng cm?2 at 439 nm. This method has been applied to the determination of titanium in a bauxite.  相似文献

The reaction between titanium(IV) and 2-(2-thiazolylazo)-p-cresol-(TAC) in aqueous methanol media at apparent pH 4.0–5.6 results in a intensely coloured complex that is stable for at least 2 h. The combining ratio is 1 1 cation TAC. Beer's law is obeyed up to 5.0 g/ml titanium(IV) at 580 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity at 580 nm is 9.82.103 l.mole–1.cm–1 and the detection limit obtained was 5 ng/ml titanium (IV). A spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of titanium and iron with TAC is proposed.  相似文献

The objective of this research work was to develop a simple, highly sensitive and precise method for spectrophotometric determination of osmium(IV). O-Methylphenyl thiourea (OMPT) coordinates with osmium(IV) as a 1:1 (osmium(IV)–OMPT) complex in hydrochloric acid media (0.8 mol l?1). The novelty of the investigated method is instant complex formation at room temperature with no need of heating or standing. The complex is stable for more than 8 days. The method is applicable over a wide linearity range (up to 110 µg ml?1). A low reagent concentration is required (2 ml, 0.009 mol l?1 in ethanol). The complex exhibits maximum absorption in the range of wavelength 510–522 nm and 514 nm was selected for further study. The molar absorptivity was 1.864 × 103 l mol?1 cm?1, Sandell’s sensitivity was 0.102 µg of osmium(IV) cm?2. Proposed method was successfully applied for separation and determination of osmium(IV) from binary and ternary synthetic mixtures containing associated metal ions. A scheme for mutual separation of osmium(IV), rhodium(III) and platinum(IV) is developed.  相似文献

A highly selective and sensitive catalytic method for the determination of trace amounts of titanium(IV) was developed. The method is based on the catalytic effect of titanium(IV) on the methylene blue‐ascorbic acid redox reaction. The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the change in absorbance of methylene blue at 665 nm, 5 minutes after the initiation of the reaction. In this study experimental parameters were optimized and the effect of the presence of various cations and some anions on the determination of titanium(IV) was examined. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 3‐25 ng mL?1 of titanium(IV). The relative standard deviation for the determination of 10 and 20 ng mL?1 of titanium(IV) were 2.64% and 1.51%, respectively (n = 8). The detection limit calculated from three times of standard deviation of blank 3Sb was 0.6 ng mL?1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of titanium(IV) in tap water and ore samples.  相似文献

Abstract

The reaction between cyclohexan-1,2-dione bissalicyloylhydrazone and titanium(IV) has been studied spectrophotometrically. An orange complex (λ = 470 nm, ? = 1.49 × 104 1.mol?1.cm?1) is quickly formed at pH 1–2.5 in a 3+2 V/V ethanol/water medium. Interferences (more than 65 species) have been investigated. In presence of some masking agents most of metal ions do not interfere. The orange complex has been satisfactorily used for the determination of titanium in amphibolites, granites, suspended matter, Portland cement, bauxite, cast iron and duraluminium alloy. The results are compared with those obtained using AAS and ICP methods.  相似文献

Abstract

Vanadium(V) reacts with N-m-Tolyl-p-methoxy benzohydroxamic acid to form 1:2 (metal to ligand) complex containing a basic V=O group and an acidic V-OH group, which forms addition compounds with thiocyanate to give a hyper and bathochromic effect in chloroform. On the basis of this bathochromic effect of thiocyanate a rapid, selective and sensitive method for the spectrophotometric determination of vanadium(V) has been developed. The blue coloured complex of vanadium(V) is extractable in chloroform having absorption maxima at 580nm and max 7100 ±50 1. mole?1 cm?1. The method is free from interferences of Mo(VI), W(VI), Zr(IV) and has been successfully applied for the analysis of steels and other complex materials.  相似文献

The mixed ligand complex TiXOH2O2 was found suitable for the determination of small amounts of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of peroxy acids of sulfur. The pH optimum for the determination depends on the concentrations of the reagents [titanium (IV) and xylenol orange]: for 2 × 10?4M titanium (IV) and XO the optimum pH is 1.25. ?520 = 13,200 M?1 cm?1. The method is suitable for determination of 4–40 μM H2O2. Mention is made of the possible causes of the contradictions to be found in the literature concerning the ternary complex.  相似文献
